conservative fire brand, knows how to throw rhetorical bombs. do you consider him a top tier candidate? >> i think he's a second tier candidate. he captures part of what the republican party wants. they want someone to go to washington and shake things up. you hear it again and again from voters. but they also want washington to work better and ted cruz's challenge is to continue to say i can change things but also make washington work. republicans want that too. >> if this is the starting gun on the 2016 race boy, what a republican field. eight, nine, potential candidates? >> i think there's eight or nine who could be the nominee, eight or nine more who could run. people in the early voting states like iowa and new hampshire, they have seen the activity. today is the start of this thing going national. the whole country is going to be on in this wild ride to say which of these 8 or 9, 12 13, 14 people can win the republican nomination. >> meanwhile, the democratic side is as lonely as the republican is crowded. where do you think hillary clinton comes down on announcing her run? >> the next couple weeks.

republicans are running in a field of 13 or 14. right now she is running in a field against herself and kind of losing. all these questions about her e-mails, whether she should face a nomination fight means democrats are worried, putting all their chips on one horse, hillary clinton. and if she ends up having problems they're making maybe she should be tested by a democrat rather than risk sending her into a general election without having debates and the kind of scrutiny you get when you have a contestant fight. >> we'll see you lots in the next 596 days. thank you so much. >> thank you. now to a disturbing development in the fight against isis. that terror group posting a hit list of names, addresses, and even photos of u.s. service members. let's bring in richard engel, nbc's chief foreign correspondent. richard, good morning. what can you tell us? >> good morning. it has 100 names on it. it's an isis hit list. it appears to be aspirational. and in a statement, the pentagon says the information wasn't hacked from any classified sources but mostly culled from

news reports and social media. the pentagon says it's mostly a scare tactic a call to murder by isis. the group released a list of u.s. military personnel and asked loyalists in the united states to hunt them down. the list included american troops' home addresses and contact information. defense officials tell nbc news the list does include names of active duty service members, some deployed overseas some combat pilots. the pentagon is encouraging anyone on the list to exercise caution, but at this time has apparently made no decision to pull them off duty or provide personal protection. it's propaganda is going further. from afghanistan to west africa and adding new countries to its portfolio, new areas where militants operate. isis says it launched the gunmen who killed nearly 20 tourists in a museum in tunisia last week.

the gunmen. >> the group said trained next door in libya. and on friday isis claimed responsibility for five suicide attacks in yemen, killing more than 130 people at shiite mosques. yemen was supposed to be the model for how washington would fight islamic radicals. the president spoke to savannah guthrie about yemen during his super bowl interview. >> we have continually been able to maintain pressure on al qaeda in that region. >> can you do that with a government that's not a partner. >> we can maintain pressure. >> reporter: the u.s.-backed government which used to help washington fight extremists was driven out of the capital in february by rebels who are still on the march. over the weekend, the government lost another city the country's third-largest, taiz to the rebels. >> this war that is playing out in yemen, this struggle for power, between the government and the rebels is creating an

enormous opportunity for groups like al qaeda, and in particular isis. because you have a struggle for power with the government battling the rebels and they're trying to regain control of the country. and in this chaos, isis is trying to really establish itself. >> which they seem to be good at filling vacuums. >> exactly. >> richard engel, thank you very much. >> closer to home accused killer robert durst is heading back to court in new orleans this morning. it's a key hearing tied to weapons charges filed after his arrest for murder. nbc's stephanie gosk is following developments in the courthouse for us this morning. steph, good morning to you. >> reporter: good morning, savannah. it was a fairly standard bond hearing on those weapons charges. but late friday durst's lawyer in a bold move filed a motion saying he wants to argue that the original arrest warrant for murder isn't actually legal. he says it faced more on that hbo documentary than on probable cause.

when robert durst appears this morning on weapons charges, his attorneys will demand an immediate preliminary hearing. those charges were filed after police arrested durst at this new orleans marriott for the murder of his friend susan berman 15 years ago in los angeles. in court documents, durst's attorney argues the california arrest warrant was issued without probable cause, to coincide with the final episode of the hbo docu-drama "the jinx." durst was arrested the night before the final episode aired. evidence led police to the long-time friend in new york state, where investigators seized 60 boxes of durst's personal possessions. again, just hours before the final episode. >> i think that anybody would be a fool to think there wasn't a connection between the final episode of the series and the arrest of mr. durst. >> reporter: durst's lawyer is also concerned about what happened once his client was in custody, saying a los angeles prosecutor spent three hours

with him before the houston attorney could fly to new orleans. long-time new orleans lawyer says he may be tried in new orleans first, because he feels he has a slam dunk case on the lesser weapons charges. durst's harder to prove murder charge in california. >> if robert durst is sentenced to 20 years, clearly 15 years, even 10 years in his physical and mental condition and age, it is essentially a life sentence. >> reporter: the lawyer compares this case to the al capone case. you'll remember that authorities went africa pony for years for murder but ended up sending him to jail on tax evasion. that would be the case with these weapons charges. durst for his part denies being involved in susan berman's murder. guys back to you. >> stephanie gosk thank you so much. natalie is on assignment this morning. we'll check in with her in a little while. chanel is here with a story on frightening scenes in florida.

>> a helicopter crashed in an orlando home sunday killing the pilot. but incredibly no one on the ground was hurt. faa and ntsb officials will be onsite this morning to try to figure out what went wrong. >> the impact was a very solid boom and dead silent. >> reporter: the terrifying sound of a helicopter crashing into a house jolted a peaceful upscale neighborhood in orlando sunday afternoon. the pilot is presumed dead but miraculously no one else was injured. a spokesperson with the faa says the chopper took off from the orlando executive airport around 2:30 and flew about two miles before it crashed. >> it is a helicopter that has crashed into a residence. it's being reported the pilot is still inside. >> orlando copies. >> rescue is on the scene. >> reporter: neighbor don car says as a vietnam war veteran, he immediately recognized the sound of a helicopter in trouble. >> this was a very slow. >> whop whop whop followed with a boom and everything went dark. >> reporter: police say the helicopter hit a two-story

garage apartment, the guest house of the property empty at the time. an unknown number of residents were inside the main part of the house. >> we don't know what caused the accident. we just know that the helicopter did go inside the guest house. >> reporter: the origin and destination of the helicopter's flight and the pilot's identity were not immediately released. it is unclear if anyone else was on board at the time. today, police will release the results of an investigation into an alleged sexual assault at the university of virginia that was reported in "rolling stone" magazine last fall. nbc's gabe gutierrez is in charlottesville with the latest. good morning. >> chanel, good morning. police have remained tight-lipped about this investigation. these allegations rocked this campus back in november. that's when "rolling stone" published a lengthy article about a woman the writer called jackie who claimed she had been gang raped by seven men at a fraternity house on campus. the university suspended all

fraternity activities and there were protests on campus and it all sparked a national conversation about sexual assault on college campuses. but within weeks, several major details of jackie's story were discredited. the magazine admitted it had never contacted the man who allegedly orchestrated the attack. it apologized to its readers and said its trust in jackie had been misplaced. but now we're awaiting the details of this investigation. many here on campus many questions have persisted about how much of jackie may have been true. later today, charlottesville police are expected to shed some light on that. >> thank you. federal regulators are investigating complaints this morning that two nissan recalls didn't actually fix a problem with front seat air bag seat sensors. the recalls involved nearly 1 million vehicles in 2013 and 2014. they were initiated because of problems with computer software. air bags won't inflate if the software doesn't register an adult in the seat. the government reports 124

complaints from people who say the problem still exists. nissan insists the proper repairs were made. and a special delivery for pope francis this weekend. it happened in naples italy, as the pope mobile and motorcade maid its way through town. look at this. atop the security fence and hand-delivered a pizza to the pope who gladly accepted. the special pie was in the colors of the vat karngs white and yellow and made with yellow cherry tomatoes and mozzarella. he mentioned previously he wanted a day where he could go to a pizzeria and not be recognized and have some pizza. so he had one placed in his hands. >> and the owner lived up to his promise of getting it to him within 30 minutes. >> there you go. >> thanks chanel. how is the forecast looking? >> well if you're in chicago, not so good unfortunately. we're looking at a clipper coming across. a very efficient system producing a lot of snow with not a lot of moisture from madison, rockford. chicago now, snow coming down really heavily.

keith carson my come patriot from the weather channel is standing by i-294. and that road behind him was completely clear. and now, keith, it looks like road conditions have deteriorated. >> reporter: yeah al. things have definitely deteriorated quickly here. the snow came down at a good enough clip to cover the roads. early this morning, as al mentioned, we had snow on the shoulder but the friction of the cars was keeping it from hitting the ground and actually sticking on the highway. you'll notice two things. one is the highway is covered with snow. the other is people are still going about 60 miles per hour in most cases. so you do have to remember of course chicago with a decent amount of snow 40 inches so far this season. but at this snowfall rate the thundersleet reported to our south, we could have problems later on in the commute. and al, this is the kicker of all of this. one week ago in chicago, the high temperature was 73 degrees. >> crazy. and then wednesday we may be looking at thunderstorms and severe weather. keith carson from the weather

university. investigators are trying to figure out what caused a tragic helicopter crash in orlando. it hit a two-story garage apartment, killing the pilot and sparking a fire. officials say no one was inside that building luckily, at the time of the crash. and we're learning more about this scary incident at a ski resort in maine. at least seven is skiers were injured jumping off a list that started going backwards for some reason. a preliminary investigation suggests a gearbox malfunction, and that led to failure of the brake system. let's begin with the search for a suspect in what police are calling a disturbing case of road rage. a houston woman shot in the head as she drove down the highway. here's nbc's janet shamlian. >> reporter: kay hafford is back home after a close call. the bullet holes in her window indicating how lucky she is to be alive. it started as a routine drive to

work north of houston that suddenly went very wrong. >> basically, what developed into a road rage situation. >> reporter: she told police she was merging on to interstate 45 when a man in a white suv cut her off. she honked her horn apparently angering him. she says he started taunting her, pulling around to the passenger side and firing one shot which hit her in the back of the head. >> the victim was coherent enough to be able to steer her vehicle after the interstate 45 freeway. she called 911 she was incoherent because she was in and out of consciousness. >> reporter: with bullet fragments lodged in her brain, she was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. >> if i ever find out or get wind of who it is it's not going to be nice. >> reporter: according to aaa, so-called aggressive driving incidents have increased by about 7% each year since 1990. the advice from authorities, just don't engage. >> if you can you know exit and get away from them do that. and by all means, if you are in a position where you can call

that led to the 2013 government shutdown. he's officially kicking off today at liberty university in virginia. a disturbing development in the fight against isis. extremists have posted a hit list of 100 american military personnel online. the list includes names, photos and addresses of people who have fought the group overseas. isis is urging supporters in the west to go after them. the names on the list appear to have been gathered from news articles. and california one person is dead and another injured after a cliff collapsed along a popular hiking trail. authorities say the two people were standing on a lookout point inside the point reyes national sea shore saturday night when the bluff gave way. the pair fell about 70 feet and recovered in rocks and debris. the national park service posted danger signs at the site two days earlier. rescuers are working today to save four whales that stranded themselves against a rocky break water on australia's west coast. at least a dozen whales have already died.

and go oh that's not how we wanted it to end. are you nervous about that? no? >> always. about every episode. >> yeah? do you think you have done justice to each of these characters in their final episode? >> i hope so. i mean we followed the story. you know every show has its own ending and we followed the story and the writers and myself we tried to find the right thing for the characters. that's what drove it so there's no device you know. there's no big secret that has to be revealed or anything. so it's sort of the end of the story. >> a couple random samplings. john are you happy with the way it ends for your character? >> i am. i was surprised when i read it. and -- but i think matthew did what's most difficult, is to be surprising and then after you read it you think, well that's -- made sense. it seems inevitable that's the way it would have turned out. >> ladies what about you? happy with the way it ended for your characters? >> i was really happy. i was surprised, but also --

>> how did you manage to surprise all these people? >> every week. episode. >> i don't know. >> he wasn't surprised, because i told him like four years ago. >> really? >> i don't know if he was surprised when i told him. >> i just thought that turning don into a zombie was a weird choice. i mean i thought, yeah it's a thing. he was ahead of the curve. but i was still -- what? >> and inevitable. >> you were on a plane not long ago. he shared everything with me. he told me the entire story. >> i thought that plane was going down, man. i had to get it off my chest. i had to unload. you're welcome. >> this day and age, everything leaks? on social media, you can find out just about anything? how have you managed to keep this a secret? >> not a lot of us are active kind of social mediaites. there is a few instagramers and tweeters but not very -- you

know for the modern world, we're pretty luddite in that sense. so i guess that's how. >> we were never a part of that. our show was around before all of that became crazy. it's been easy to stay out of it. >> with all these seven seasons, eight years, the critical acclaim, is it -- is this a little like a gymnastics routine? does it all come down to sticking the landing at the end? >> i hope not. i mean, i watch tv. you know there's 92 hours of it. i would hate for one hour to undo that. but that is you know your worst nightmare. i don't know. i mean it's so organically related. the show is not that kind of show that has, like super -- i don't want to say it's not dramatic but it doesn't have super, you know -- we have never changed the style of the show. and i think because it happens on a human scale and it's related to people's real lives, they should expect the story to be in that vein. >> who has an anecdote going

back to the beginning of when you knew the show had become a big deal? was there anything that happened to any of you? you went wow, this thing is off and running? >> i -- for me i remember -- well between season 1 and 2, we were shooting -- you know we were there at l.a. center studios, which is not a big studio and we were just kind of grinding it out, and the show aired, and was very well received critically. but i think the difference between season 1 and season 2 when people were dvring the show and you could all of a sudden save a show and hear about it and go back to the beginning, there was a big jump i think, between those two seasons, for me anyway. >> suffice it to say, the beginning of this was don draper's story. the world was -- >> in a halloween costume. i predicted this. i said if we see a man dressed as joan at halloween, we made it. >> and that was me. yeah. >> actually rich actually

dressed as joan. >> did he? >> did he? >> the don story to begin. but it seems to me that peggy, while she started off as a secretary, perfect for the times, she became in some ways the heart of the show. did it also become peggy's story? >> i don't know. i mean that's very difficult for me to answer obviously. i've always -- this is very much don's story. and then the rest of us you know. it's hard for me to say. i mean i've been very grateful for everything i've gotten to do on the show. i think she is sort of the face of feminism in the workplace on the show which is a big story in the '60s. >> i've always said it's not a mistake that the series starts on peggy's first day at work. i think it is very much these parallel lines that are running through this very particular place in this very particular

time and these two parallel tracks on how people get ahead in that time. >> this next group of questions, let's just answer by pointing -- you guys point at the appropriate cast member okay? >> oh-oh. >> member of the cast who had the most fun while shooting over the past seven seasons. >> most fun? >> nobody had fun? >> i think maybe we all had fun. >> i had a lot of fun. >> member of the cast who blew the most lines over the past seven seasons. >> that's probably me. >> you're like the last person. >> i never once blew a line. >> everybody behind your back is doing that. >> member of the cast who had the most pieces of their wardrobe mysteriously disappear. >> we weren't allowed to do that. >> we had to wear them all of the time. >> i took a blue coat home once and then i had to bring it back.

looks like a lot of volume. >> still a slow go on interstate 95 southbound. they haven't recovered from an earlier disabled bus plus all the volume. also slow on the schuylkill expressway both eastbound and westbound. if we look at your drive times, you'll see that it is slow still getting a red light on 95 southbound. 50 minutes from woodhaven road to the vine street expressway. more than 30 heading eastbound on the schuylkill expressway. philadelphia police are looking for thieves who smashed their way foo five cars and stole the air bags. this happened in the ronhurst section of the city. somebody broke into four hondas and stole air bags out of three of them. someone stole air bags from nine hondas earlier this month. they can sell for up to $200 on the black market. i'm vai sikahema. we'll have another update in 25 minutes. you can always get the latest news and weather with the nbc 10 app. now back to the "today" show. have a great day.

toretto. it's also a place that plays a significant role in the franchise. a place where the group comes together to barbecue and give thanks for all they have. and the cast considers themselves much more than co stars. they consider themselves very much a family and all suffered a huge loss when a member of their family paul walker died while making the movie. >> obviously, it's got to be really difficult time to be doing the press tour and promoting a film at the same time. you're also dealing and talking about the loss of your friend paul walker. >> i want to talk about paul. i want to celebrate his life. i want to talk about how amazing he was. i want to talk about how much we bonded over being dads about our daughters. as hard as it is it was our opportunity to come together and create something special. number one, for his family. number two, in his honor. number three, for the fans. >> jordana, you, of course play his wife. and had such close connection to

him throughout the film. how did you process and deal with the grief that you were feeling? >> i don't think there's -- i'm still sort of processing it. and i don't think it's something any of us will ever get over. he was the most wonderful, light, beautiful spirit ever. and he'll be forever missed. >> i loved that boy so much. i just can't talk without cracking you know. sorry. >> you know i presented the first movie -- the first screening in california just a week ago, and i was talking about the movie, and i saw a picture of paul and i was affected a little bit and started to get choked up a little bit. and someone in the audience yelled you've got family here vin. and i thought, that's so powerful. and that's such a testament to what we do and what we bring to the table and i think the world

just appreciates that kind of brotherhood and that kind of camaraderie and that kind of family that they see only in this franchise. and when it goes off the screen it's really special. >> but i don't think they understand how much pressure their love puts us under. because pressure can either bust pipes or make diamonds. and we have decided to try our best to allow for the pressure to create diamonds. >> you shouldn't come into this with a heavy heart. everyone's first instinct is to be sad and bound. but this is the same "fast & furious" we're all used to but it's bigger and busier. >> as paul would say, you've got to promote, dog. >> it's seeing the ending of the film without giving it away obviously, or giving too much of the plot line away. how do you feel that it really honored him? >> oh man. i don't think there was any better way to honor him. it was such -- it was graceful it was classy it was elegant, it was everything that it needed to be.

and i think -- i don't think there's one person that's going to disagree with that when they see the ending of this film. and i'm just extremely happy of the way it was creatively done. >> we all knew that it was our job to leave the legacy for someone we loved and someone the world loved. and that's why the ending is as precious as it is. >> vin, do you want to lead us in a toast as you do as the sort of father figure of this family? >> i'm just happy that i've got a team like the team we've got here and without this team none of this would have happened. i love all of you. i'm just grateful. >> hear hear! >> to family. >> to family. >> well it should be pointed out that before paul walker died, he had completed 85% of the film and once vin diesel and the rest of the cast got the blessing of walker's family they felt they needed to go on they needed to finish the film

how do i look? >> honestly? >> if this relationship is going to go the distance mary i think we should be honest with one another. >> okay. well you look slightly ridiculous. >> nah. i look sharp. >> al pacino welcome back. how are you? >> hi. well thank you. >> it's been a while. i'm glad to see you here. how do you like the sound of that rock star? >> i've always wanted to play a -- someone who can sing and dance. and even though i can't -- >> that's a good question. when they came to you about this role did they say to you, al can you sing? >> no actually. they assumed. by being italian and all, i guess that most -- no. this guy, dan foley, who wrote and directed was so keen on my playing the role. he's just wonderful, by the way. he's a wonderful person. he wrote "crazy stupid love" and

he just saw me in the role. and i think when a director sees you in a part even though you might not feel that way -- i felt that way about "godfather". when francis copala wanted me i thought he's wrong. but he so wanted me. and made it possible for -- the studios didn't want me at the time at all. >> for "godfather"? >> yeah well i was unknown at the time. but he fought for me. it was part of his vision. all of the characters. don, jimmy khan, sonny, robert duvall. it was all his vision. and so this guy has me as a rock star and it's who he saw in his head. >> were you nervous to get out? you've done everything in acting. and you can take on any role. but to sing on camera is the whole different animal. >> i know it is. >> were you nervous?

>> well i was nervous. i had good support. like dan knew people. musical people who worked with me. and i did a thing with "chicago" at the -- >> greek theatre. >> greek theatre. >> were you there? thank you, mark. so we were at the greek theatre, and there "chicago" was playing, and dan folderman arranged during intermission i would come on as danny collins, the character in the movie, and he would introduce me. and they were so good about it because they said we have an actor here working on his role. >> unknown guy. >> unknown. and he says if you would stick around it's al pacino playing danny collins. and i went out there with thousands and thousands of people and the chicago band behind me and i sang this song. i was so glad i had the

character to play. because if i just came on without any character -- >> jennifer garner was here a couple days ago, my little birdie and she tells me this song "hey baby doll," you sang everywhere you went on the set. >> i had to. >> were you just trying to stay in character or drive people crazy? >> no i just knew that i would -- i had my little son at the time tell me -- i would say, antoine, how does it go again? and he would say " ♪ hey baby ♪ and he would get the right note. and i would lose the -- what is it the notes, or music of it. and just lose it. so i would sing it as much as i could. because there's nothing in the world like singing a song and forgetting it while you're singing it. forgetting the lyrics. >> you mentioned you've got a young son. how old? >> now he's 14. >> 14 years old. this may sound like a weird

question to ask you. but does he understand what a big deal you are you? >> well i try to keep him out of it. but i think -- you know he's starting to get it a little bit, when he sees the crowds. no he does sort of understand i'm famous. it's there only when it's there, you know. it's only when it's up. but -- do your children understand? >> try to keep a line between the two, but i have a feeling you're someone when he gets a little older he's going to be so proud of his dad. >> oh gee, wow. i hope so. i feel very great about him. he's really special. so is my daughter -- my daughters. >> life is good. >> life seems to be. i'm still standing here as they say. we're sitting here. >> keep doing it all right? this one is called "danny collins." don't make it ten years between the next visit, all right? >> well okay. i'll just come by. it's very friendly here. >> come by any time. danny collins is playing now in select theaters.

we are back with something new in today's kitchen, week night wonders. all this week we are featuring healthy meals you can whip up in 35 minutes or less. all you need is giada de laurentiis in your kitchen. talented "today" contributor. the gang is downstairs. all they have to do is eat. >> all right. >> so commence eating gang while we teach how to make this. >> they're going to warn you about it. we start with kale pesto. have you ever made a pesto? >> no i have not. >> do you like pesto? >> i love pesto. >> traditionally, it's made with basil and parsley. we're going to change it up and

use baby kale. this is the difference. this is what baby kale looks like you can touch it. >> yes. get to know it. >> this is regular kale. >> that's that chewy kind. >> this don't use, because it's just too tough. the baby kale is great. we use some walnuts. quarter cup of walnuts. hold on hold on. one garlic clove. >> just dump it in there? >> dump it in there. i'm telling you, you can do this. orange juice and orange zest is the key to bringing it to life. orange juice, and i just use regular -- buy an orange. >> orange juice, orange zest. >> yes, the zest of the orange. and remember zest the orange before you juice it. once you cut the orange then it's -- >> i'm going to pretend i understood that. >> kale. >> throw it in there. >> you can find this at the grocery store these days usually either in bulk -- >> what's the other kind rubbery kind called regular kale? >> yes. lots of different kale -- but this is the best kind. and i found that for jade because kale is not something that kids really like to eat,

this is a great way to incorporate greens into their diet. >> smart. >> yes! so we are going to put the lid on. actually i'm going to put some salt and red pepper flakes. i just put a tiny bit. not spicy, but brings out the flavor. >> all right. okay. >> okay. press start. >> i'm going to teach -- >> it's not on. there we go. >> break it all up. this is how it's broken up. now you stop it. now you take the lid off. you want to add the olive oil later. >> a dash? >> no two-thirds of a cup. >> oh wow. >> ready? >> how do you know? >> there you go. you can measure it out for yourself. i know because i've done a lot of pesto. measure everything out and you're good to go. >>. >> am i still going? >> you want to make sure it comes together. see? >> okay. >> done. there we go. we take this off. and we're going to dump a cup of parmesan cheese. >> let me ask this.

why do you have to do it piece by piece? >> well the olive oil you want to add as it's combining, and the parmesan cheese heats up with the blade. and this you don't want to change the texture. it can get rubbery. you could do it that way. and the flavor might be different. >> trying to learn. >> >> okay done. so -- forget it. come over here. >> this is what it looks like. now, you can make this in advance, even the day before if you like. then the whole trick to making a dinner in 35 minutes is start with the pasta, because that's what takes the longest to cook. so they say usually eight to ten minutes for the pasta. so in those eight to ten minutes, you could do that. >> any rhyme or reason why you choose this particular pasta? >> yes, the whole idea you'll find very soon when your daughter starts to eat food kids like pasta, but different shapes. these are known as gimelli, in italian means twins. and two twins hug together. i like to tell stories, because it helps make it interesting for her. >> gang how are you liking

this by the way? >> really good. >> are you learning a lot in this cooking segment? >> another cup of cheese. >> pasta water. >> pasta water. >> row 'tis tree chicken. >> you bought a predone rotisserie chicken. >> smart. >> put some muscle. i know you have it. >> i don't want to spill. that's why i'm trying to be careful. >> you've not going to spill. keep going. from the bottom-up. from the bottom up. there you go. >> wow. >> olives. i use three different kinds of ol i was, just for different colored texture. use whatever you want. >> and saltiness, too. >> brininess, and velvety. >> looks good. >> this is the thing. i was trying to show one of the girls in the kitchen earlier. that you want to to say from the bottom up. you see how it gets creamy? if you just go like that it just stabs the pasta and the sauce goes to the bottom. >> i like it. >> that's your pasta, done.

it's 16 degrees right now in the mountains. while it's still in the 20s in philadelphia. the wind is blowing to make it feel colder however. 19 the windchill in northeast philadelphia 4 degrees in the mountains. so lots of sunshine on this spring monday but a winter chill is in the air, even through this afternoon. the justice department is releasing its findings on the use of deadly force by the philadelphia police department later this morning. that report will break down the incidents in which philadelphia officers used deadly force. it will map out a plan of action moving forward. philadelphia police commissioner charles ramsey asked for this federal review following a series of officer-involved shootings. new information about the philadelphia man who's behind bars for allegedly shooting his ex-girlfriend's son. 23-year-old jamille carter was a fugitive wanted for attempted murder. he turned himself in to police last night on charges that he shot a 12-year-old boy. that shooting happened early yesterday morning. investigators say carter sneaked

into his ex-girlfriend's home. the boy walked in on carter hitting his mother and carter shot the boy in the leg. he was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released. we just got an update from camden county police about a late-night stabbing. we now know that it was a man and a woman that were stabbed at 6th and cherry streets. a second man was assaulted. we don't know their conditions at this time. investigators say the attack appears to be random and they have made no arrest. we're back with another update in 25 minutes. have a great day.

having leche. we told her grammy is coming and it was too early. we totally over -- she over anticipated it. so every time the dinger would ring, grammy! and then it wasn't. and then melt. there was some tantrums happening. >> and then -- >> what did you do? >> let's get to natalie first. natalie had perhaps a pretty terrific weekend, i would say. #vindiesel, spilling the name of his child exclusively. >> sweet story. >> yeah, that was just such a touching moment. i had a chance to obviously sit down with the entire cast. you're going to see that coming up in just a little bit. a little bit more of that interview i did earlier. i did get a chance to fly over the skies of l.a. with vin diesel. we had a little one-on-one. and he got very personal. while the movie is being premiered we're already starting to see some early screenings. he did say that during that

time, his partner was having their child. so he actually left one of the screenings early to go be with his partner, and just a week and a half ago, he had a little baby girl, his fourth child. and he told me that he named his daughter pauline, after, of course his very close friend paul walker, who died while making the film. and it was such a close personal friend, soul mate brother. so he said he felt like paul was in the room. he said his mother even felt it. and he said while i was cutting that umbilical cord, there was you know, no one else that i wanted to carry on with his name. and i wanted to make sure that paul was always in my life and in my heart. and by naming his daughter, pauline, he now continues with his legacy with her beautiful name. guys? >> sweet. >> sweet story. >> really is. >> and you could tell natalie was getting teary-eyed which is

that paul's brothers look exactly like him, and we got into how to move forward, and they were physically on the set with us every day, we actually felt like our brother was still with us. >> twainduane, you came into the family later in "fast 5." was it apparent to you right away this was a bond that was going to be forever? >> i had the privilege of coming into something that was already established and incredibly successful before i got there. because we were all friends outside of the movie. we would see each other around, support each other's movies. we had the same -- he has a picture of me on his lower back. >> is that true? >> i've got to see it! come on! >> we have such a great team. it's not like other movies. when we come to work we all want the movie to be as special as possible. we all knew that it was our job to leadve the legacy for someone

told us reechblgtcently that this was a drug-related robbery, it was not a random attack. the stabbings happened late last night at 6th and cherry streets. a man who was stabbed is in stable condition and a woman who was stabbed is in critical. police say a man who was injured while working on his pickup truck in north philadelphia authorities say the truck slipped out of gear and landed on the man. he is in stable condition at the hospital. and today philadelphia archbishop will be out raising awareness about hunger and homelessness. the archbishop is scheduled to visit soup kitchens food pantries today. of course it comes ahead of pope francis' visit to this area in september. if you're looking for a job in delaware today is your day to find out about hundreds of openings. several companies will be at wilmington university's dover campus for a spring job fair. that runs from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and features full and part-time work. i'm chris cato.

wildwood wilmington and teens in the mountains. so a slow warmup as we head to the upper 30s and low 40s. we'll see plenty of sunshine but the wind will be picking up this afternoon. later this morning the justice department will release its findings on the use of deadly force by the philadelphia police department. that report will break down the incidents in which philadelphia officers used deadly force and will map out a plan of action to improve training and policy. philadelphia police commissioner charles ramsey asked for this federal review after almost 60 officer-involved shootings in 2012. in just a few minutes pennsylvania's first lady, frances wolf will arrive at a school in bucks county. she's hosting a roundtable discussion talking with teachers and administrators about the state's plan to improve the public education system. she will also be reading to students there. this afternoon delaware governor jack markel will sign a new law giving smaller eateries the opportunity to apply for a liquor license. they must feed at least a dozen

the story of the characters and people they've sat with for the better part of a decade in their living room. it's bittersweet. you know we finished shooting in july and so we've kind of been sitting with it for a while. but yeah, it's very exciting to get to share it. >> was it an emotional ending for you guys on the set? >> a big fight. >> what was it like? >> long time resentments bubbling up. it was sad. i mean you know, it was kind of a parade of last days of various people had their last day and then there was the final day of shooting. it was sad. i knew it would be and it kind of hit me. i was still surprised by how emotional it got. >> we hear there were tears from pretty much everybody. was it exhaustion relief or what? >> again, from the fistfights. a lot of face shots. >> had to be some relief to get

out of the corsets and the bras. i still wear those underwear. they were comfortable. were you kind of excited for a new venture around the corner? >> no. no. >> no. >> yeah, it really is hard to say good-bye. >> was such a charmed experience in so many ways. we have kind of what happens with an underdog situation. we're kind of close tore each other in a weird way. we never knew if we would go beyond the pilot. we didn't expect it to go this long and you definitely want to get off the air before people say, is this still on? but it was such a great work experience and people would go off during the breaks and come back to it like they're home. >> there's such a high expectation for the finale of anything. did you guys like how your charactered wrapped up at the end? you did?

>> yeah. i didn't know. i was so pleased when i read it. i really was. >> i was pleased, too. >> all right. so one of the things you guys do a lot on the show is you like to imbibe in a few beverages. there for 369 alcoholic beverages poured in the office -- >> in the pilot. >> well, we can relate. we were actually drinking. what were you drinking? >> it's colored water basically. >> what were you actually smoking? >> pot. it's legal in california, you guys. no. they're herbal cigarettes that have not addictive qualities. >> it was delicious. >> early in the morning, a big cigarette and some onion water.

>> did you love the fashions of that era? did you find yourself transforming into your character because you had on the right -- >> that has to help. >> it definitely helps a lot. weirdly it felt like my work clothes. there was obviously so much focus on the fashion because it was so beautiful and unusual for if everyone else. for me it was just what i wore to work. >> a little souvenir, who took what? >> i took everything. >> i took things from joan's apartment, like serving tray and a picture and at the end anything that wasn't glued down. >> jon how about you? >> i took my girdle. no, i took a desk lamp from my office with permission, right? >> yeah. >> the smithsonian is going to get -- >> some of the stuff, yeah. i also took jon's girdle.

runway repair project. a $98 million project will fix issues like cracking concrete, a concern for the last decade. air force crews already training for how to work around the limited runway capabilities during the repair. the project expected to be completed by june of next year. penndot teaming up with state and local police to launch work zone safety awareness week. in about 30 minutes officials will kick off the event in montgomery county. this year's theme is expect the unexpected. police and transportation workers encouraging drivers to use caution driving through construction zones. a full hour of news in a half hour. see you then.

everybody is over weight. it was until she was ten years old and she was the big kid in class and started getting a lot of bullying. a vicious cycle kwond. the meaner the kids were, the lower her self esteem was. there she is in her early 30s, skyrocketed to 425 pounds, high blood pressure and prediabetic. she decided she was turning things around. so she joined a gym. she could only last five minutes at first. but she found this hip hop class. not only is her blood pressure normalized and she's not prediabetic anymore. she's lost 235 pounds. >> step on out, melissa. >> oh my god! >> she's awesome. >> good for you. >> oh my gosh. wait. so blood pressure. you must feel like a different human being. >> i don't know that person anymore.

>> she kayaks, snow boards, does everything. >> it took two years to get it off. and it will be three years next month. >> it's not a quick process. were you a quick fix person before? >> before. i wanted instant results. i didn't get big overnight, i wasn't going to lose it overnight. >> what is the impact for you family? >> my mom is working out now, she's going to a gym. i have a great support system. my boyfriend helps me at the gym. we're weight training. >> you were awesome. >> we should call out our other guy real quick. save the moves for later. >> we have 30-year-old jeff from harleysville, pennsylvania. big football guy. freshman year she was 300 pounds but it worked for him, a big football guy. graduated. after high school no more football but kept up with his ferocious appetite. his weight skyrocketed to 455
