forecast. we are looking at rain right now. temperatures have been falling along with the steady rainfall and the wind is blowing to make it feel chillier. that's a live view from center city with rain falling in the city and for much of the area. in south jersey along cape may in southern delaware it is dry. a steady line of showers coming down in northern chester county upper montgomery and bucks county and into northern new jersey. and the temperatures as you mentioned are above freezing in the 40s for the most part. doylestown and coatsville in the upper 30s. 41 in roxborough. and 44 for northeast philadelphia airport. and in south philadelphia it's 44 degrees. while the delaware river trail is at 43 degrees. we'll look at the hour by hour forecast when i come back in ten minutes. katy zachry is here with the morning commute. it's a good time to get on

the roadway if you need to go slower considering the ponding and puddling on the roads. this is a live look at 76 at montgomery drive. the drive times between the blue route and vine are really good. typically they are at this time of the morning. even with the rain they are okay. at the pennsylvania turnpike between route 1 and the valley forge exit 22 to 23 minutes in both directions. we have typical overnight construction that should be moving near the 5:00 hour. the area bridges are free and clear of any problems. chris? and we are following a disturbing case near port richmond, philadelphia. a woman was walking home and was raped and robbed. chris chris, what happened here? >> reporter: here's what investigators say happened after 11:00 last night. someone reports a person

screaming in the area. when officers got here they found a woman robbed and assaulted by two men at gunpoint. she gave a description to the police and two suspects were positively identified and found with the victim's belongings. here's the thing, both suspects are under the age of 18. they and the victim have been questioned by investigators overnight. police tell us something else happened that further terrified this victim. i'm working on that information and we'll bring that to you at 4:30. matt delucia, "nbc 10 news." and we are following more breaking news in west philadelphia where two people are dead and another injured after a victim turned the tables on a pair of would-be robbers. this happened last night as two men were walking on the street when two robbers approached them. one pulled out a gun and told them to empty their pockets. instead, they shot both robbers. the other victim was also shot but it's unclear by whom. two of the men died but at this

point police cannot tell us if the wounded victim is the one who died. the investigation continues and we'll update you. and breaking news from washington, d.c. this morning. in the past 30 minutes the senate passed a budget plan with trillions in spending cuts. this is a live look at the senate floor where a 15-hour marathon session just wrapped up. the vote was 52-46. the senate's version is different than that of the house. so the two chambers have to meld their two plans together a process they hope to finish next month. 4:04 now and new developments overnight in the german airways crash in france. investigators are trying to figure out why the co-pilot deliberately braugtsought down the plane killing 150 other people and himself. they also searched the man's house.

work failed the inspection an hour before the explosion yesterday. fire from that blast engulfed a total of four buildings, three of which collapsed. 19 people were hurt four critically. neighbors jumped in to help before firefighters arrived. this twitter video shows someone helping a woman down from a fire escape trying to get out of one of the collapsed buildings. and look at this video, a ride-by shooting here. a man on a bike opening fire on two people in the philadelphia kensington section that happened yesterday morning at amber and cambria streets. the man shot a 17-year-old in critical condition. he fell off his bike but got back on and got away. no word on a motive. police are looking into the report of an abduction in fairmont park. witnesses say they saw a woman being forced into the back of a pontiac grand prix before 3:00 yesterday afternoon. it happened on sesely drive near poplar drive. they are checking the see if it

was a domestic dispute. five men who consider themselves bounty hunters are behind bars this morning after they were looking for a suspect wednesday night for a suspect wanted on drug charges. one of the bounty hunters hit the suspect with a tire iron and robbed him. the men also handcuffed and robbed a 17-year-old with the suspect. investigators say only one of the men was a certified bounty hunter. >> i don't even know who the other four are. i know two of them. and those two were only there to let us know here's a drug dealer. and he was selling drugs all over. >> the five men are facing charges of robbery, aggravated assault and kidnapping. the man they were after is also in custody. one of the ploenlgsd dare eagles of all time will be remembered at a private funeral service today. family and close friends gather to say good-bye to hall of famer

chuck bednarik. friends and family said good-bye at a public viewing yesterday in bethlehem. bednarik played a franchise 14 seasons with the birds starting in 1949. concrete charlie was the last player in the nfl to play a full 60 minutes on the field. he played offense and defense. bednarik died last weekend at tell age of 89. 4:09 and the rain is coming down. you'll need your umbrella this morning. and for much of the day, cloudy skies, rain falling and temperatures are on the chilly side. mount pocano cloudy skies. could see a few snowflakes mix with rain drops that leads to an icy spot in the pocano mountains. northeast philadelphia, 45 degrees. atlantic city has a break right now from the rainfall at 45 degrees. there you can see puddles. this is the view from blue mountain in the pocano mountains. we'll see the rain stick around

right through the morning. it is light rain in philadelphia, but look at this line of steadier rainfall that is moving through and past chester county into upper montgomery and bucks counties. and to the north, this will be moving into the lehigh valley in the next half hour. rainfall in our area to the north, the pocano mountains, watching for snowflakes mixed in with rainfall. this system is going to be slow to move out today. hour by hour future weather shows rain still falling at 8:00 this morning. that's a steady light rain at 8:00. by 9:00 it gets a little bit heavier. that's 9:00 where you can see the heavier showers in delaware and south jersey at that hour. going into the late morning hours, umbrellas are still going up in the area. off to the north and west we'll slowly see improvement during the afternoon hours. a light rainfall and sprinkles in the reading and allentown area while a steady rain for south delaware and south jersey. it will be tapering off heading into the afternoon hours and

temperatures throughout the day today, nowhere near as warm as yesterday with a high of 67 yesterday afternoon. today the upper 40s to lower 50s. i have the weekend forecast when i'm back in ten. 11 minutes after 4:00 now and let's get an early check of the roads out there to see how traffic is moving while traffic is out there at ten minutes of 4:00 on a friday morning. katy zachry is watching that for us. >> there are a few cars on the roads this morning, but it's wet out there. be careful of ponding and puddling on the majors. add extra time to the main times. very few cars on the roadways but you'll have to go slow considering the rain coming down. taking a look at the drive times on 95 76 and 422 in the typical trouble spots, we are not seeing a lot of volume at this hour. the drive times are really good. we do have information about an accident in lower moreland affecting traffic on pine road.

most of the exit ramps that meet the bridge to i-95 and build a new ramp to provide a direct connection between the bridge and aramingo avenue. the work should be complete by fall of 2017. now to road work in delaware. if you take route 141 you will need to make other plans for a few weeks. they closed the southbound lanes on the route 141 bridge to 13. that's because crews are going to be repairing potholes on that overpass. an update to a breaking news story from yesterday afternoon. police sketched the suspect from yesterday's home invasion where the man got into the home through a front window. he choked the woman and tried to sexually assault her. this happened at 4:00 yesterday morning in the point breeze neighborhood. the victim told police the attacker asked for money and grabbed her by the throat. her husband says she's okay. police say the inintruder did

not take anything. authorities in bucks county accuse a woman of faking cancer to get sympathy during a child abuse investigation. police say ashley reichard lied to investigators saying her husband caused severe damage to her daughter. then she claimed she had ovarian cancer that police say is not true. now she's accused of harming her daughter as well facing aggravated assault and perjury charges. and investigators are hoping surveillance video will help to catch two robbers who attacked two men in northern liberty. it's a bit grainy but this video from philadelphia police video shows a pair of men attacked a woman on fairmont avenue last friday. the men claimed they had guns and forced the victim to the ground and took their purses and cell phones. but the security camera captured a good picture of the red pickup they were driving. you can clearly see the face of one of the suspects there. right there. if you think you recognize that

man, call police. well, two victims are hospitalized after a septa bus collided with a car in fairmont park. the victims are expected to be okay. two people were riding in a white camry there at 7:00 last night and girard. no one on the bus was injured. septa says it will no longer fight to keep a controversial ad off the side of the buses. the ad features hitler who carries the tag line jew hatred. a pro-israel group called the proinitiative bought the ad. septa was considering an appeal until yesterday. police report several new developments in the ongoing investigation of the fraternity scandal at penn state university. several women pictured in the photos on the fraternity's facebook page have come forward to police. and some of the frat members are cooperating with the investigation.

kappa delta roe has been cooperating and so far police have not filed charges. and parents and students who don't want to take the new standardized test the parcc exam in new jersey are closer to one option in new jersey. this bill will require students to be provided with educational alternatives in another classroom. the measure now goes to the senate. 4:18 now. and six months from today pope francis will be in philadelphia. the pope is expected to attend closing events for the world meeting of families on the ben franklin parkway. a day of activity is planned leading up to the moment many of which to take place at the pennsylvania convention center. this will be the first time the world meeting of families will be held in the u.s.

steady rain. it's on the light side in philadelphia with heavier downpours north and west. the wind is blowing and feels colder. the windchill right now is 37. and you can see the rain drops on the lenses with this view from the comcast center. looking past the art museum and up the schuylkill a rainy morning. still the possibility of rain drops this afternoon. fortunately, the temperatures are above freezing. by a long way. 44 in wilmington. northeast philadelphia and lower bucks county langhorne, 44 degrees. doylestown 38. farther north and west the upper 30s for kintnersville and quakertown. there's a chance the rain drops will mix with a few snowflakes, but temperatures won't be getting close to the freezing mark for most of the area. this is the rain that is coming down in that region right now.

bedminster seeing the steadier rainfall. that's part of a line that is moving through the northern and western suburbs just shy of the allentown area and reading. the showers are going to be settling down but the rainfall will continue to stream into the area. there's more of this system to stay with us through the morning and afternoon. by tonight we'll see clearing skies. that's 11:00 tonight. 43 degrees. and then overnight tonight it gets cold. and there's a chance we'll see some showers during the day on saturday. 7:00 tomorrow morning, dry, 33 degrees. then a chance of some scattered showers. might see a few snowflakes but temperatures will be above freezing so we are not expecting to see any accumulation. then the scattered rain showers are tomorrow afternoon. so kind of a chilly start to the weekend. sunshine today will be on hold. we'll see clouds and rain. temperatures in the upper 40s to lower 50s this afternoon. the weekend though it will start

all right. someone in new jersey could be a whole lot richer this morning. a winning powerball ticket was sold in north jersey. recently, powerball officials say the winning ticket for wednesday night's drawing was sold at the rockland station store in teaneck. the ticket is worth a cool $40 million. the winner will get just under $27 million before taxes.
