house. he is convinced that if you smooth off the round edges, he has a chance to be nominee. >> that's a big challenge you talked about. can he retain that tea party cred while attracting more mainstream republicans? >> that's the trick. he's a very talented guy politically and he speaks the language to younger voters that older voters won't recognize. the magic and the ability to speak to the core base will sustain. the question is while he keeps people energized, can he reach out and span the party in a way that allows people to say yes, that guy should be a credible commander in chief. that makes him seen as a credible commander in chief. >> let's talk about that credibility and take one foreign policy issue, iran. he supported the presidential

issueses of diplomacy in the nuclear talks and yet one of the senator who is signed the open letter to the ayatollah saying any deal can be undone. they are running an ad that contains a comment he made about iran paraphrasing here it's ridiculous to think of them as a threat to our national security. does he have a credibility problem when it comes to foreign policy? >> he has to convince people he is more in line with the foreign policy. they are a departure from tone and substance from before. this is to me the big part. he's a talented guy, but they are not going to nominate someone who is not ready to be president from day one. the positions on israel and iran he wants to be president and he will try to find a way to speak true to his core convictions and show republicans he is ready to take over.

we have warm moist air from the south and the upper level low that will merge on top of this, bringing the moisture up. we have a fairly wide area of a risk of severe storms from central oklahoma including oklahoma city and job lynn and kansas city and illinois. the larger band on thursday. this is where we not only have a risk of severe weather from waco up to chicago, but we also have that very large hail and tornados are likely between central missouri up to chicago and parts of indiana and heavy downpours with the system anywhere from three to five inches of rain and the flood watches are likely as well. not only do we have a couple of days of severe weather, but by friday there could be problems here. >> all right. >> thank you.

>> the now discredited rolling stone article. the fraternity at the center of the story is planning to pursue legal action. >> rolling stone's editors are still on the jor despite a scathing report. >> these are not failures of dishonesty. they're systematic collective failures. >> the rolling stone article featured a woman identified as jackie who claimed she was gang raped. they retracted the story and apologized to readers, but the publisher told the "new york times" the problem started with the story, a really expert fab lift story teller. he said he did not want to blame the victim. >> we believe that. >> two of jackie's friends said they wish they had contacted

bedrooms. >> this by far is the most tragic incident in the 17 years i have been here. >> the family most likely poisoned by carbon monoxide from a generator that ran out of gas. >> the electricity was burned off. >> they discovered the family after being contacted boyy a concerned coworker. >> my heart goes out to his family. >> it comes a day after three people die of carbon monoxide in a house in tennessee. two members of the family were taken to the hospital. according to the centers for disease control and prevention unintentional exposure causes about 400 deaths and 20,000 injuries a year. rodney had not been able to keep up with his electric bill but is described as hardworking and a devoted father. >> you couldn't ask for a better

father. he had his kids for three years. and he did the best he could with what he had. >> so sad. police say no foul play is suspected and an official cause of death is pending a medical examiner's report today. >> closing arguments in the trial of the patriots player aaron hernandez. the defense rested its case after calling just three witnesses. they called 131 witnesses over the course of the trial and it has gone on for two months. hernandez pleaded not guilty to the murder in 2013. senator john mccain said he plans to run for a 6th term on capitol hill in an exclusive interview. the 78-year-old senator from arizona said i am more than ready and some ways i am eager. >> for any voter who said he is turning 80 and it's his 6th

here's more on the big game. >> absolutely. there a lot of big fans on the plaza. are you sleepy or are you on the high of one of the greatest games in ncaa history? you stayed up? duke beat wisconsin 68-63. what turned out to be a great matchup monday night tied 31-31 at halftime. the first time by the way the championship game has been tied at half in 27 years. you may not have known that. this as matt mentioned marked the fifth national championship with the coach leading the team for each of those titles. and rightfully so. duke has been celebrating on campus and they did a lot of jumping and screaming and they also took part in a tradition that is sponsored by the university called the burning of the bench, a tradition that stems back from the good old

good morning, i'm vai sikahema. just before 7:30 this morning, we'll get our first alert forecast with bill henley. we are seeing lots of clouds and some rain. don't forget the umbrella this morning. on and off rain showers are steady right now in delaware and south jersey. steadier rainfall in cumberland and into low erer camden county. temperatures got chilly overnight at 60 degrees in northeast philadelphia. most of the rest of the area in the 50s including roxborough and south philadelphia. steady showers to start with, but we'll see breaks in the rainfall as temperatures climb to near 70 this afternoon. later on, a chance of a thunderstorm. thank you, bill.

the two teen brothers are here in critical condition. it has been nearly three weeks. paramedics are on the islands of st. john and the caribbean got the phone call that an entire family was violently ill. the suspected culprit is a deadly pesticide that never should have been there in the first place. >> the resort in st. johns sits on a hill overlooking the caribbean. beautiful views and warm weather. the ideal spot for spring break. they checked in on march 15th. on march 18th exterminators fumigated below them. march 20th paramedics at st. johns got the emergency call. the whole family was sick. the director of the local facility told us he had never seen a case like it on the island. they were airlifted back to the u.s. the justice department launched an investigation. >> the most personality issue is
