"nbc 10 news" starts now. right now on "nbc 10 news today," camden is getting ready for a presidential visit. we're live to show you what president obama will see while he's in town. the new rales are in place and in less than two hours amtrak will get back on track following last week's deadly derailment. we're live at 30th street station as passengers get ready to board. another warm muggy day. a live look outside of center city. we're watching for scattered showers this afternoon. good morning, this is "nbc 10 news today." i'm tracy davidson. let's get with bill henley for the first alert forecast. >> good morning, tracy. a warm start this morning.

muggy, too. we will see sunshine. a pretty good warmup. we will be back in the 80s this afternoon. that's a live clear view across the delaware. live view of center city. we're seeing a few isolated showers move through our area in chester and into delaware and into extreme northern new castle county moving to the wegs of wilmington. the showers will be hendending this afternoon. warmup 75 by 890 by 9:00. i'll show you where the storms are most likely to pop up. let's get a first alert traffic look with jessica boyington. good morning, jessica. >> good morning, bill. we're dealing with an accident investigation scene out on 295 in new jersey. right around route 73. you can see the center lane is blocked. part of that left-hand lane as well on the northbound side due

to an accident 45 minutes ago or so. no problems headed southbound. rest of our drive times, no problems 95 southbound from woodhaven road towards the vine. 13 minute trip. doing fine on the schuylkill and the blue route as well. good news for mass transit this morning, amtrak and septa's trenton line will resume all service. you want to check before you go to see if there are any changes. tracy. it is 4:02. today president obama will be in camden. "nbc 10's" katy zachry is live outside the camden police department which is a stop on the president's agenda. tell us more about this trip. >> reporter: hi, tracy. police officers even though we're nine hours away from the visit have blocked off some of the stretches of road outside the camden county police department. president obama will meet with police officers to draw attention to their innovative

policing styles and pat them on the back. president obama will be in camden this afternoon and plans to make two stops while in the city after being at the police department he'll speak to an invited audience at the crop community center. the president will highlight camden's community policing that began two years ago. already it has had a major effect on reducing crime and improving relationships between police and the people that live here. the president will also talk about the fact that just last month camden was named a promised zone. there are only a handful of areas around the country. what does that mean for the people of camden? i'll break that down. amtrak trains will begin operating between philadelphia and new york this morning. matt delucia is live at 30th street station. what can you tell us matt? >> reporter: tracy, passengers on the first new york bound train should be arriving here

shortly. amtrak workers spent the entire weekend trying to get that track repaired and that service restored while city and transportation leaders reflected on the derailment. >> last tuesday was the worst day for me as a transportation professional. >> amtrak ceo joseph boardman said when passengers get on board, it will be safer. the fbi is analyzing a grapefruit sized crack in the windshield of the locomotive but still in question is why was this train going 106 miles per hour in a 50-mile-per-hour curve. the engineer has no recollection of bhapd. amtrak took orders from the federal railroad administration

this past week to prevent another tragedy. >> amtrak is safe to ride. amtrak is a safe railroad. we're making whatever changes we need to make. we are doing the safe thing. >> reporter: the first train is set to depart at 5:53. septa regional service will resume throughout most of the area. the other orders amtrak was given to make the trail safer in this area and throughout the northeast corridor. meantime a funeral will be held today for the new york real estate executive who died in the derailment. laura finamore was on her way home. her service will be held in queens where she grew up. she was 47 years old. you can count on "nbc 10" for complete coverage on nbc.com and our "nbc 10 news" app.

you can learn about the lives, the victims and the history of train derailment in our area. it's 4:06. we're following developments in a rival shootout. vai sikahema is monitoring the story. live in the digital operations center. vai, as of at least last night 100 people are being questioned. what's the latest? >> reporter: waco police sergeant working the case says this is one of the most gruesome crime scenes he has ever seen in more than three decades on the job. five rival gangs were meeting at a waco, texas, restaurant. they gathered there to talk about turf and to talk about recruitment. investigators believe a few bikers got into a fight that spilled out into the parking lot. they attached each other with guns knives chains, clubs. it was amazing no innocent bystanders were killed. >> the gang members, they do

whatever they want to people. they shot people. that's what they did in there. nobody was doing anybody. leave people alone. i don't know what the problem is. >> besides the nine people killed 18 others were injured. police were made aware of the bikers meeting in advance and had 12 officers and several state troopers waiting outside the restaurant. authorities believe the quick action of officers saved more lives. i'm vai sikahema, "nbc 10." meantime in camden police hope this surveillance video will help them track down the person who pulled the trigger in a drive-bishotting. ingdrive-by shooting. two men in that car shot another man in another vehicle hitting him in the leg. the car is a gray or silver hyundai sonata. >> the trial is set to begin for the man who killed a pregnant

woman and her daughter before setting a fire. police say he stabbed the two victims at an apartment complex in bristol township in november of 2013. now your "nbc 10" first alert weather with meteorologist bill henley. >> eight minutes after 4:00. getting a warm and muggy start, and that mugginess is going to stay with us through the day and could lead to some afternoon showers and possibly thunderstorms. the threat even greater for tomorrow. then things will be turning cooler later in the week. unusually warm weather for us. we should see temperatures in the 50s for this time of year at this hour. we're in the 60s and 70s. 70 degrees in northeast philadelphia. atlantic city is 67. completely dry for now. pop-up showers are a possibility in the pocono mountains. already seeing some activity in chester and in the northern new castle county area.

temperatures warming 60s right now. 70 northeast philadelphia airport. 61 in quaker town. there are cooler spots but nobody's really chilly this morning. 60s and 70s in delaware. 60s across south jersey. woodbine is 65 degrees right now. you can see not much in the way of cloud cover. we will get some nice sunshine. a quick warmup into the 80s this afternoon. with the heat and humidity there's a chance we'll see scattered showers. 7:00 some isolated showers are possible and then as we go into the later morning hours, maybe a sprinkle or two for north and west but then we get a dry period as we head into the early morning hours. the line of showers popping up into alan town reading berks county seeing showers at noontime today. as you go into the afternoon a possibility of more widespread scattered showers and thunderstorms. that's 3:00 this afternoon. but the threat is even greater

crash of a military aircraft. they're looking at what went wrong into an osprey that slammed hard into the ground. tough talk from the secretary of state towards north korea. we'll tell you what john kerry had to say during his visit to south korea. that's next.

it is 4:13. a live look outside. another warm and muggy day. temperature 70 degrees. bill is tracking showers. we'll get an update in minutes. a u.s. marine died and 21 others were injured after their military aircraft made a hard landing in hawaii. they were aboard an osprey for training when it slammed into the ground sunday morning. the surviving marines were taken to a near by hospital for treatment. their conditions are not known. officials are investigating what

they call a hard landing mishappen. about 500 people were killed over the last few days as isis militants captured the iraqi city of ramadi. the civilians and iraqi soldiers are among the dead. the mass killings come on the heels of a u.s. raid on the terror group. several high ranking members of isis were eliminated. the fall of ramadi is a big blow to iraqi forces. john kerry says the united states is considering more sanctions against north korea. this comes during kerry's trip to south korea. he accused korea of crimes and atrocities. he assured them of america's commitment to their security. north korea said it successfully test fired a missile from a submarine earlier this month. it's 4:14. tonight residents will meet with local leaders and law enforcement to talk about recent crime in the community. the meeting was scheduled after

last week's brawl. you remember this videotape at third and greenway. shots were fired. no one was hurt. the goal of the meeting is to build trust between police and the community. >> people need to transform their lives into a way that people can live in peace. >> it disturbs me. >> people are often too scared to report a crime. a large turnout is expected at 7:00 at the darby recreation center. environmental officials are overseeing the cleanup of an industrial fire in conshohocken. the fire ripped through a warehouse with chemicals inside. officials say those burned chemicals do not pose a health risk for people in the area. firefighters had a new tool while badttling the flames.

a drone. this morning investigators are still looking for the cause of the fire. new information this morning from the jersey shore. officials say the 7th street surf shop in ocean city is a complete loss following a fire on saturday night. this comes days before the busy memorial home holiday down the shore. investigators are still looking for a cause. we have an update on the deadly military humvee crash on the new jersey turnpike that happened earlier this month. a second soldier who was inside the humvee has died from his injuries. he has been identified as staff sergeant bryce leake of new york. john levulis died on may 7th. they were in a humvee traveling from fort drum on may 1st. police say a driver was trying to pass the humvee and hit it sending it off the road into a tree. the driver has been charged with reckless driving. 4:16. we are now just one day from the primary election and the

happening in 2016 a republican for the white house will be in philadelphia. kentucky senator rand paul is expected to visit the national constitution center. he's here to promote his book which comes out later this month. he's also going to hold a news conference at independence hall. now "nbc 10" first alert weather with meteorologist bill henley. >> should be in the 50s this time of year but we are getting a warm start and a dry start, too. nice dry view commanding view from center city. that's a live view from the comcast center. going to see some sunshine today. there will be clouds around and a chance we'll see showers pop up. philadelphia temperature is 70 degrees. 55 is the normal low temperature. 75 is the normal high. winds out of the west southwest just at 5 miles an hour. most of the area seeing no wind. not a lot of wind expected for most of the day in the pocono mountains. we get some showers and thunderstorms popping up. we can get stronger gusts in the

area. isolated activity expected today. not much to show you other than a few sprinkles moving through chester county new castle delaware county. most of the region will stay dry this afternoon. more activity in south in virginia. hour by hour future weather shows 9:00 clouds breaks of sunshine and temperatures will be warming. as we go into the noontime hour we may see spotty showers. most of the area will be dry. as we go into the afternoon, 2:00 in the afternoon. philadelphia chester, upper berks and lehigh. new jersey portions of cumberland gloucester. as we go through the afternoon, more pop-up showers. by 11:00, clouds will be in place. tomorrow we may start the day with some showers in the area.

that's 9:00. during the later morning and afternoon showers we could see some thunderstorms erupt over south jersey. during the afternoon tomorrow we'll be watching for more showers and possibly thunderstorms in the area. and there's a potential for severe weather for tomorrow. for the day though plan on a warm and muggy one with some breaks of sunshine. we'll see some scattered showers and a possibility of some afternoon storms. highs in the upper 70s and low 80s. look what we have to look forward to all week long. weekend looking spectacular. sunshine, very low humidity 74 degrees on saturday. up to 79 degrees. the cooler air will arrive before we get to the weekend. i have the seven day forecast coming up in the next half hour. >> bill thanks. 20 minutes past 4. 295 in burlington county is back open after a deadly accident there. the crash happened just before 9:00 on 295 and route 73 in

mount laurel. police say a box truck slammed into an overpass and burst into flames. the road was closed for more than four hours while police investigated. it's back open. jessica boyington you were mentioning an accident or something happening near the same area right? >> yeah tracy, what we're watching is the cleanup of that accident investigation around 73. on the northbound side you can still see police activity on the scene. slow going by that scene blocking out the center lane part of the left-hand lane but still scooting by that accident scene just fine. northbound still 12 minutes. not affecting the total drive time from the black horse pike up towards 38. we have a few accidents out montgomery county. swamp pike and middle creek road. another one in upper merion. drive times on 202 you can see everything is still free and in the clear there. as well no problems northbound or southbound just about 11

block. this is in response to the city's ongoing financial problems. new jersey transit is holding its second public hearing on the agency's proposed fare hikes and service changes at the atlantic city rail. the proposed changes would take effect in september and october. the fare increase would average 9% for most customers. it's part of the agency's effort to close an estimated $60 million budget gap. today road crews will begin changing the speed limit on a stretch on 95 in delaware. the speed is increasing from 55 to 65 miles an hour. that will happen from the 495 split to the maryland line. the speed limit only changes when and where the new signs are posted. in camden county health experts have a warning about a case of rabies in the area. officials say a raccoon tested positive for the disease. a dog killed the animal in barrington last week.

the dog is current with its rabies vaccinations. it must be confined and observed for 45 days. this weekend citizens for a no kill philadelphia hosted the sixth annual with love no adoption day for rescue animals. a number of shelter and rescue groups participated in northern liberties. last year they took in more than 29,000 stray and unwanted dogs cats, other wildlife. the yearly event hopes to decrease that number and eventually make philadelphia a no kill city. as you can see there, "nbc 10's" sheena parveen served as emcee. now your "nbc 10" first alert weather. >> a warm start this morning. we'll be watching for storms this afternoon. right now, 69 degrees at 4:26. jessica boyington is in the first alert traffic center. it is a monday. what's happening, jessica? >> we are a little busy so far this morning, but first i'm going to show you 95 live right
