who said they were at a wedding. the ceremony started at 6:00. as soon as it was over everyone ran to the tv to watch the race. >> the bride was probably first in line. >> we'll have much more on that coming up ment. our top story is the desperate search to find and cap temperature two inmates involved in a brazen prison break here in new york state. nbc national correspondent miguel almaguer has the latest. good morning to you. >> reporter: matt, good morning. to give you scope on this man hunt authorities are are searching in the u.s. canada and mexico. this prison break out of a hollywood script complete with power tools. the inmates taunting investigators. investigators say these inmates could be anywhere. right now they concede they are nowhere closer to finding them. overnight and into the morning the desperate, around the clock man edmonton for two killers. >> we are leaving no stone unturned. they could be literally

anywhere. >> reporter: some 250 heavily armed officers with canines, combing the woods searching cemeteries and school ss for david sweat and richard mac. sweat killed a sheriff's deputy shooting him 22 times. matt kidnapping beating, killing and dismembering his boss. they were discovered missing early saturday morning, breaking out of prison with power tools. >> we did not recover sophisticated cutting tools. we are still looking for those tools. >> reporter: the escape from this maximum security facility in up state new york 25 miles from canada retraced by new york governor andrew cuomo who called it elaborate and sophisticated. >> solid. >> reporter: he says the prisoners in side-by-side cells stuffed bunks with clothes to avoid detection. they cut holes through the steel wall behind the beds, crawled onto this catwalk six stories

up broke through a brick wall two feet thick cutting holes into and out of a 24-inch steam pipe shimmying beneath the prison wall and breaking out of a manhole more than a block away. they left behind a post-it note with a racist image reading "have a nice day". >> when you look at how it was done it was extraordinary. >> reporter: with the governor saying the inmates must have been heard it's a fortress. >> the community is upside down now. >> reporter: this morning the hunt for two desperate men who have killed before and could do it again. this rural area is dotted with abandoned barns and next to a forest area. grid searches have turned up nothing. investigators say they could have gotten help from inside and outside of the jail. one of the inmates, richard matt escaped from prison in 1986. the governor calls this a crisis. >> thank you so much.

let's turn to governor andrew cuomo who toured the escape route and has announced a $100,000 reward. grorp to good morning to you. >> good morning, savannah. >> the inmates could be miles an hour as we just heard. i know you have 150 leads you are working. are any in particular looking promising? are how confident are you that the two will be found? >> well savannah the first order of business is exactly thatter for us -- to get these escapees back in custody. they are truly dangerous, desperate men. they are killers. they are murderers. we want to get them back as quickly as possible. as your report also said they could be anywhere given this period of time. we are doing an intensive search in the immediate area which is basically a rural area. if they had help from the outside given this period of

time they could be anywhere in the country. one of them has experience in mexico. they might be headed south. >> let me ask you about this. when you look at the elaborate areness of the escape and i know you personally saw it. you are talking about people who acquired power tools, knew how to get out, cut through steel pipes, walls, shimmied down the pipes, broke through a manhole. are they that ingenious? lucky or do you think they had help? >> i think they had help. i don't believe are they could have acquired the equipment they needed to do this without help. we have a separate investigation that's going through exactly that question. >> help from the inside or the outside? >> employees in a prison -- well we are looking at everything. primarily from the inside. you have three types of employees at a prison. you have the guards civilian employees and private contractors who come in to do work. we are going through the civilian employees and the

private contractors first. i would be shock ed if a corrections guard was involved in this. but they definitely had help. otherwise they couldn't have done this on their ownment. even from the equipment point of view. it took days to accomplish this. it really could have been a movie script. if you saw it i as a script it would have been unbelievable frankly, what they accomplished. so yes, they were devious. they worked fast on what they did. first order of business is finding them getting them back. they're dangerous wherever they are in the country. that's why we are offering a reward of $100,000. we have a new tip line -- 1-800-give-tip. we'll get them back and do an investigation. we'll find out who gave them the assistance. i believe, savannah they were assi assisted probably from the inside. >> and they left a note for guards saying "have a fiesnice day."

underestimated going into the race. you didn't hear the superlative superlatives used with this horse you have heard in the past. do you think people under estimated him? >> i think everybody was waiting to see something really special. we got that. it was an unbelievable magical moment. as you say, the crowd went crazy. victor paraded the horse up and down. that particular moment is going to be frozen in my memory forever and ever and ever. but that horse had been doing -- he's undefeated since he's been 3 years old. he has raced in six different tracks. six grade one winners. he's doing things that haven't been done. his time winning the belmont was the second fastest since secretariat. >> i loved looking at your faces when we rolled back the final few seconds of the call. justin how many thousands of times have you watched it?

broke into the window of an office building on broad near arch. investigators say witnesses called police when the pair started to throw various items out of the windows of the vacant building. police arrested the pair on the 18th floor. and today a philadelphia judge is expected to appoint lawyers for the three suspects in the jewelers row kidnapping case. the three are charged with abducting a woman from a parking garage in april and beating and torturing here. police say they wanted the code to the safe at the jewelry store where she worked. more news in 25 minutes.
