ins in the first alert forecast. >> our skies are clear. there's a live view from the mellon bank building in center city. it's this afternoon that could see showers and possibly strong thunderstorms. right now, clear for the philadelphia area. look into central pennsylvania and western pennsylvania you can see scattered showers and a chance for some thunderstorms as we head into the afternoon hours. this morning should be dry, 68 degrees at 6:00. by 9:00 76 and then 83 degrees at lunch time today. your hour-by-hour future cast when i come back in ten minutes to show you what to expect. right now if you're heading out the door first alert traffic reporter jessica boyington has a look at the tuesday morning commute. hey, jessica. >> hey bill. we have some problems out there guys. in chestnut hill germantown avenue is closed in both directions due to an earlier investigation citizen, accident, an investigation under

way. out on the vine street expressway, perfect example of both sides, eastbound and westbound. this is westbound right here headed towards the schuylkill expressway. all traffic being diverted off on the broad street exit. follow local detour signs that they have posted and you'll do just fine. that will be there until 5:00 this morning. everything still okay no problems on 95 the schuylkill and the blue route is doing just fine. breaking news from overnight, a pregnant woman is fighting for her life after she was shot in philadelphia's west oak lane neighborhood. her unborn child did not survive. nbc 10's matt delucia is live at einstein medical center. what have you learned from police about the shooting? >> reporter: well, four months pregnant rosemary the 32-year-old woman was rushed into surgery at einstein medical center. her unborn child did not survive.

this happened just after 10:00 last night on the 7300 block of thorren avenue. police got there. there's a 46-year-old man lying on the sidewalk shot several times in the legs. they also see a woman in the front passenger seat of a car. the man is stable the woman is critical, it's unknown if she will survive. there were several witnesses in the area detectives have been talking with them. no motive at this point but police are telling us that it appears that both the man and the woman were shot outside of the vehicle. the woman got in possibly in an attempt to get away. there's still plenty of details still being worked out in this investigation. i'm working on gathering more of the details. live outside einstein medical center in olney, matt delucia nbc 10 news. new this morning an off-duty philadelphia police

officer is hurt after he crashed his suv along germantown pike in chestnut hill. that's the accident you heard jessica boyington talking about a few moments ago. the 35-year-old off-duty officer crashed into a fence and a tree and his suv flipped over. rescuers had to cut through the roof of the car to free him. investigators are now trying to figure out exactly what caused this crash. more breaking news, this comes to us from indonesia. 20 people are dead after an indonesian air force plane crashed in one of the largest cities in that country. the plane crashed two minutes after takeoff. many are injured. we'll continue to follow this breaking news story. we'll bring you new updates and information as soon as we get them. you're going to run for president of the united states and you're going to ask these people for their vote. that is the single most trusting thing they can do as a citizen. >> today, new jersey governor chris christie is expected to announce his bid for the

republican presidential nomination. it comes after he posted this video message to his facebook and twitter pages yesterday. christie was once considered a top 2016 contender. now many political analysts view him as a long shot. nbc 10's katy zachry is live at the statehouse in trenton with more on what we can expect from the governor today. katy? >> reporter: hi rosemary this highly anticipated announcement will take place inside the gymnasium at livingston high school. that's where the governor went to high school. he will speak to a small group of invited guests and supporters. we are expecting to officially hear, as you said his bid for president. he's been alluding to this at press conferences and on social media over the last several days. he then launched chrischristie.com, with the slogan telling it like it is. christie is entering a packed field. he joins 13 other candidates.

coming up over the next hour, we're working on a story where we consulted a political pundit about the governor's chances of getting into the race at this point and what he needs to do to be successful. reporting live in trenton, outside the statehouse, katy zachry, nbc 10 news. nbc's matt lauer will have the first interview with governor christie following his campaign announcement. watch it right here on "nbc nightly news" at 6:30 p.m. and more of the interview will appear on the "today" show tomorrow morning. governor christie would enter a crowded field of gop candidates as katy mentions he could become the 14th republican to enter the presidential race. four democrats have thrown their hat into the ring so far. this morning, philadelphia police are looking for the killer who murdered an 85-year-old woman by bludgeoning her and slashing her throat.

state troopers were ambushed and one of them died. next where pennsylvania drivers will soon be seeing a constant reminder about corporal bryon dickson's sacrifice. it's a crime of historic proportions. the search is on out west for the vandal that destroyed these dinosaur tracks thought to be 165 million years old.

the pennsylvania state trooper who was shot and killed during an ambush outside his barracks last year will be honored with an exit on interstate 84 the blooming grove exit in pike county will be renamed after corporal bryon dickson. governor tom wolf is expected to sign a bill that will make the

renaming official. shooting expert eric frein killed corporal dickson and injured alex douglas outside the barracks before leading police on a 48-day manhunt last year. we are expecting a decision soon in the second child abuse trial against a former army major and his wife. three children suffered injuries and were severely underweight when they were removed from their northwestern new jersey home in 2010. the couple's first trial ended with a mistrial. developing out west, a fast-moving fire that forced residents with their homes with little to no warning has burn more than 4,000 acres since sunday. a rain shower yesterday helped slow the flames but officials say the wind and heat could still cause problems. conditions there are ideal for wildfires and really couldn't be worse for the crews fighting them as temperatures are in the triple digits.

the state of arizona has reached a final settlement with the families of 19 firefighters killed battling a brush fire in 2013. each of the families included in the lawsuit against the department will receive $50,000. the hot shot crew was responding to a fire 80 miles northwest of phoenix when a wall of flames trapped them. the department has also agreed to enhance safety training for wildland fire crews. >> our clients wanted transparency and change to ensure that what happened to their loved ones that day would never happen again. >> seven family members who did not file claims will receive $10,000 each. the time right now is 4:17. right now, the feds are looking for the person responsible for damaging 165 million-year-old dinosaur tracks in utah. take a look. somebody poured liquid plaster into the tracks located on national forest land in eastern

utah. investigators have identified several suspects. officials say it appears the person was trying to make plaster casts of the tracks. now, your nbc 10 first alert weather with meteorologist bill henley. >> 18 minutes after 4:00. clear skies, nice live view from center city, looking from the comcast center 69 degrees. this is a number that will be higher today. 75% humidity. it's actually warmer, too. at this hour we're 5 degrees warmer than yesterday morning. a clear view across the delaware, no fog to worry about, no showers in the immediate area and no real chilly temperatures. it's cooling down nicely. wrightstown at 59 degrees, doylestown at 61. currently 61 for levittown. as the day goes on these temperatures come up into the 80s. this is where we're more likely to see thunderstorm development today. in the northern and western suburbs, quakertown

kintnersville. those showers will be moving through the area during the afternoon hours and into the evening. right now, it is pretty quiet in the immediate philadelphia area. you can see the scattered shower to the west and some thunderstorm activity. this morning, it should stay dry. sunshine, 76 degrees at 9:00. by lunch time, low 80s. those temperatures are above yesterday's. and the temperatures will be warmer over the weekend, too. saturday afternoon, the fourth of july 87 degrees. there's still a chance of a shower or thunderstorm but really at today's viewing ofñi the latest it looks less likely than it did yesterday. this may be coming down for saturday and sunday the temperatures will be going up 88 degrees. seven-day forecast coming up in the next half hour. 4:19 on this tuesday. jessica boyington is keeping an eye on all of the traffic cameras. what are you seeing out there,

jessica. >> rosemary a lot of the majors are quiet this morning. it's still early to see a lot of volume. we're looking at the schuylkill expressway right around montgomery drive. 12 minutes for your total drive time. that's light, headed eastbound from the blue route up towards the vine street expressway. and out in upper merion, we are looking for a road obstruction on west church road and golf road. chestnut hill accident investigation under way on germantown avenue closing it east and westbound between bellsville road. mass transit, currently no problems or delays for new jersey transit, septa or patco. the philadelphia history museum is offering free admission as part of the wawa welcome america festival. the museum will be open from 10:30 to 4:30. today's event will include special readings like this one.

the deadline for

pennsylvania's $30 billion budget proposal is due at midnight as senate republicans gear up to vote on their budget governor tom wolf is threatening to veto it. republicans want to balance the budget with no new taxes. they want the influx of cash to come from selling state-controlled liquor stores. wolf wants to raise the sales in income tax while cutting the property tax. he also wants to impose a new tax on natural gas drillers to help pay for public education. if they can't strike a deal it could result in a partial government shutdown. the governor is preparing state employees and contractors for the likely outcome, although he appears to be hoping for the best. he sent out letters yesterday telling them they should still report to work on wednesday and expect to get paid. in delaware lawmakers are preparing for a marathon session today. a $3.9 billion general budget fund still needs a vote as does the capital spending plan.

the proposal contains less money for nonprofit groups from volunteer fire companies. county and local governments could also lose state dollars. all eyes will be on wall street as the stock market comes off its worst day of the year. the dow dropped 350 points as investors worried about the impact of the greek debt crisis. the nasdaq tumbled 122 points and the s&p 500 sank 43 points. still, the white house insists that greece's financial situation is not a major direct threat to the u.s. economy. greece's bailout program ends today. as the country moves closer to defaulting on its debt it could be forced to abandon the euro. greek citizens are feeling the pain of the financial crisis. there are long lines at gas stations and atms where the government has restricted how much money you can take out. the country is deeply in debt and it's unlikely greece will be able to pay back a0ç$1.8 billion
