to reck black churches in two weeks. it happened in georgia, north carolina tennessee, south carolina. now the feds are working to see if the fires are hate crimes. we are at the scene of the fire. sarah, good morning to you. >> reporter: good morning. fire investigators are bringing in a ladder truck to give them an aerial view of the destruction and help them determine if it was caused by nature or arson. this morning local and federal agencies are investigating the cause of the fire tuesday night at mount zion methodist episcopal church in south carolina. 50 firefighters responded to the scene, but authorities say it is too soon to tell what caused the fire citing storms and lightning strikes in the area. >> it is hard to say who might have come through here or what the cause was. we had problems here before. it really didn't go away.

it's still here. >> reporter: the blaze comes amid a rash of fires that erupted at black churches across the south in the past two weeks. officials say at least two fires have been declared arson. all of the recent fires occurred in the weeks after the shooting in charleston on june 17. a white gunman opened fire killing nine people. the victims were all black. the fires have fuelled the discussion with the hashtag # who is burning black churches trending throughout the week. the south has a long history of racially motivated attacks against black churches. mount zion was burned in 1995 by members of the ku klux klan and was visited by then president bill clinton after it was rebuilt. a press conference is scheduled in just about three hours. we hope to learner more about any headway investigators may have made overnight. back to you. >> sarah, thank you so much.

breaking news on the financial crisis in greece that's caused a ripple effect in the u.s. reports that a potential new bailout deal is in the works. here's moren on that. kelly, good morning. >> reporter: matt good morning. we are hearing the greek prime minister is expected to make an announcement in the next two hours or so. there are reports that he sent a letterer to the european credit creditors accepting most of the terms of a debt deal with some revisions. it is not clear if the european credit tr creditors will accept the revisions. there is another meeting in five hours. of course greece already if arrears on $1.8 billion payments to the imf. we'll keep an eye on this. >> breaking news. apparently greece ready to cut a deal. >> markets breathing a sigh of relief. the u.s. government is

taking a step toward restoring ties with cuba today. the president set to announce the re-opening of embassies in washington and havana. good morning, kristen. >> reporter: that is right. the president will make the announcement from the rose garden this officially ending the diplomatic stand-off that's been in place for 50 years. diplomats spent the past six months negotiating the details of the new em ba is si. key to the development, the u.s. removed cuba from the list of state sponsors of terrorism last hont. critics like marco rubio argue the move empowers the government that carries out human rights abuses. the administration says it is time to re-open trade and travel with the island nation. secretary kerry will afouns the move from vienna where he's negotiating a nuclear deal with iran. kerry will travel to the opening

surrounding the area but didn't locate him. >> reporter: along the way the convicts broke into cabins like this using a radio to guide their movements. >> they were able to hear the progress of the search where are the perimeters were and avoid the areas. >> reporter: days later, matt was killed shot and captured. the prison boss at clinton collection fall and 11 employees have been suspended as part of the prison probe . fallout as the only inmate still alive tells all. with investigators saying david sweat is cooperating, law enforcement sources are looking into the harrowing drug ring at the prison and whether money used from the heroin drug ring. >> they actually got out of the prison the night before came up in a neighborhood said this isn't right. let's go back and tie again tomorrow night. >> how confident are they that oh we'll have another chance tomorrow.

this is hand-to-hand combat every day. the legislature is fighting you all the time. in red states they don't have a lot of experience. i know how to do it. >> for your talk about compromise you have a mixed bag of reaction. i drove to the event and i drove past a hefty group of protesters. a lot of them were teachers holding signs that said "liar" and "bully". >> the fact is we have to make hard decisions. you will have people who protest and are angry. >> when this country elected barack obama history was made. he became the first african-american president in u.s. history. if you look at the country today you could argue that it is as racially divided and racially tense as it has been this decades. if barack obama couldn't help bridge the racial divide how can president chris christie?

>> i have learned in my state, the most ethnically diverse in the country, the first way to do it is show up and to listen. so for instance when the tragedy happened in charleston african-american ministers in my state called and wanted a prayer service. i went on father's day and sat with african-american ministers and members of the congregations and spoke about racism. er racism is the cause of what happened to charleston. >> the president went down and eulogized the reverend pinckney. >> i don't think he listens. look at camden in our state. murder rate is down 55%. who showed up? the president to say what a great job it was. >> when president obama came to office it was all the talk about hope and change. there was the feeling of inspiration. you can decide how it worked out six years later. what could you do to inspire

philadelphia wilmington and dover. a slight chance of an afternoon shower as temperatures warm. 73 degrees. no threat of severe weather today. we will see temperatures climb with bright sunshine into the 80s by 1:00 this afternoon, 84 degrees. breaking news the past ten minutes we've learned that another person is dead after this car crashed and burst into flames on the schuylkill expressway this morning. that brings the total number of dead in this incident to three. our traffic camera as you can see showed the fiery scene this morning in the westbound lanes of the schuylkill expressway near montgomery drive. this is the scene from the ground. the crash happened around 2:30 this morning. police are trying to determine exactly what led up to this crash. new from overnight, a man is recovering after being shot while driving a van in north philadelphia. investigators say the man was shot along stillman street but he drove himself to chalmer's avenue to avoid the gunfire. investigators did find a gun in the victim's van.
