now. >> we still have storms around locally heavy rainfall mostly in new jersey. light showers in delaware to moderate rain moving into sussex county. this is the area we are mostly watching heading towards the shore. it's cleared out of the philadelphia area and points north and west. but because of the heavy rain we have a flood advisory for burlington county atlantic county along the expressway until 8:45. we could be seeing localized flooding in some spots. the radar is trying to indicate at least a little bit of hail in some of these storms. pretty small hail about half an inch in diameter possibly. but the heaviest rain is moving towards galloway township into burlington county closer to the shore. this is all moving right around 40 miles an hour or so. as we track this whole system it will be moving towards the shore by around -- in the next 10 to 15 minutes. ocean city could see it by 6:10. atlantic city by 6:14. with any of these storms we could see locally heavy rain causing localized flooding. i wouldn't be surprised if we had at least another flood advisory up with the heavy showers around also lightning

and the potential for some small hail. we will track these storms as they head towards the shore. then we will see nice changes overnight tonight. before that today we have hot weather. chief meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz is standing by with a look at that. >> those storms put an end at least temporary end to the heat although we did get into the 90s in at least part of the area. it was a close call but we had temperatures going up from the 80s into the 90s in philadelphia. we got up to 90 degrees at 1:00 and the official high was 91 but you can see how much cooler it got north and west because the showers came in sooner. then we dropped into the 70s as the showers came in and now we are all pretty comfortable. we now have an official heat wave, three days in a row of temperatures of 90 plus. now we are going to be busting

the humidity but the temperature is still going to be up there. as we go through the day, tomorrow, you are not going to see a heat index like this where it got up to triple digits in parts of the area. i will be back to see how long this heat wave will last with the seven day in a few minutes. >> we want to see what the weather looks like in your neighborhood. send us photos and video of rain flooding or storm damage with the nbc 10 news app. other news now. philadelphia congressman chaka fattah accepted an award in washington, d.c. 24 hours after the feds indicted him on racketeering charges. he was given the advocate of the year award by the u.s. black chambers. he is not leting the indictment distract him from his work as a congressman. >> we are not distracted. i'm going to do my work. we are going to be either the most successful period of my public service or [ inaudible ].

we got so much done and helped so many people that it would be a crime for me to stop doing it. >> in the indictment released yesterday, the congressman is accused of misusing his congressional influence, misspending taxpayer money and charitable donations. he is accused of accepting a secret million dollar campaign loan and taking a bribe from a lobbyist who wanted to be an ambassador. renee chenault-fattah is telling her side of the story in a letter forwarded to nbc 10. the nbc 10 anchor was referenced in the criminal complaint against her husband. she is labeled as person e and an affiliate of the fattah enterprise in the federal indictment. the feds allege she and her husband took part in the scheme to fraudulently sell her car in order to pay closing costs on a vacation home. nbc 10's deanna durante has her side of the story. >> in the letter renee chenault-fattah says she has done nothing wrong. the feds say the fattahs used money from a fake car sale to help secure a mortgage on this poconos vacation home.

chenault-fattah describes the vehicle, a porsche, in a letter forwarded to nbc 10 as her second car. she says she sold it to a family friend but for several reasons the car remained at the fattahs' home. the feds say the friend herbert vederman, a friend and former lobbyist during fattah's run for mayor. they say the sale was a bribe to fattah in order to get vederman's girlfriend a job and him considered for a federal appointment. the feds claim fattah continued to service the car and kept it in her garage more than 20 months after the sale occurred. chenault-fattah denies the sale was illegal and explains why the car remains in her home. we have three garages and the friend lived in an apartment. for a time i continued with insuring it since it was in our garage and wanted nothing to happen to it. and i had it towed to be serviced in the spring because i wanted it to be in good shape for the friend. it has remained undriven in our garage for three years now because on advice of counsel we were instructed to do nothing with the car. the wife of the congressman chaka fattah also says she knows

the case isn't going away any time soon. in her letter, chenault-fattah says the proceeds from the car sale were used in connection with the purchase of the poconos home. she says the sale of the car was triggered by a change in the law and a reserve required by her mortgage company. chenault-fattah has not been charged with a crime. her husband congressman fat at a fattah denies all wrongdoing. >> renee is currently on leave from the station. harry hairston is live in our digital operations center now. you have looked into the other people charged? >> reporter: the indictment alleges congressman chaka fattah was head of a criminal organization having people close to him commit crimes. >> i can't say much more about it. >> reporter: u.s. congressman chaka fattah faces 29 federal counts that include conspiracy bribery and fraud. the federal indictment names four other co-defendants. all are connected to fattah's

2007 mayoral campaign. herbert vederman former finance director during the campaign run for mayor, is alleged to have among other things helped fattah resolve campaign debt. the feds claim in 2012 vederman faked buying a porsche from fattah's wife renee chenault-fattah for $18,000. authorities say the fattahs kept the car and used the cash to help purchase a vacation home. in a letter she forwarded to nbc 10 renee chenault-fattah denies the accusations. robert grant, founded solutions for progress on south broad. he is no longer associated with the company. prosecutors say fattah told thomas lindenfeld to use the same address for a fake charity as part of a scheme to compensate lindenfeld for work done on the 2007 campaign. lindenfeld pled guilty under a separate indictment. karen nicholas was ceo of

educational advanced alliance fattah's nonprofit that used to be here on market street. the indictment alleges nicholas and brand conspired to pay back an unlawful loan fattah arranged for his mayoral campaign using grant money meant for eaa. bonnie bouser was chief of fattah's philadelphia district offices and treasurer for fattah's mayoral and congressional campaign. the indictment alleges she conspired with lindenfeld and greg nailer to get an unlawful $1 million loan for fattah's 2007 mayoral campaign. nailer pled guilty last year under a separate indictment. he admitted using grant funds to repay the $1 million. former federal prosecutors say charging the defendants under the rico act leaves them facing stiffer penalties if convicted. the maximum sentence is 20 years on each count. fattah has maintained he and others are innocent of the charges. >> harry hairston thank you.

comprehend what her 5-year-old survived abducted from her north philadelphia home sometime before 7:00 tuesday morning by a man police say climbed through an alleyway window. >> he throws or places her on the ground and physically assaults her. >> she was very strong. when she came to she became very alert. she let me know there was a man who took her out back. >> reporter: hopkins found her daughter bleeding and barely conscious in the backyard brush. police questioned one man but let him go. now they are counting on dna evidence and information from neighbors who may have seen someone suspicious. >> imagine someone coming into your home abducting one of your children or your neighbor's children. it feels the same for all of us. >> at the end of the day, no matter how we define it the level of violence is beyond the pale. >> reporter: hopkins says her daughter will begin kindergarten in the fall and is in good spirits but with her eyes swollen shut she can't see the

cape may county is closed because of some sewage that got into a storm drain. the area includes a stretch of beach between sixth and seventh streets in ocean city. county health department is testing the water. that part of the beach could reopen by tomorrow. new at 6:00 a fight over the pensions of hundreds of thousands of government retirees now going before new jersey's supreme court. the argument here did the state violate workers' rights when it froze annual cost of living adjustments in 2011. that overhaul required public workers to pay more into the pension system. an appellate court sided with the workers. it's an official heat wave but how much longer will we see temperatures in the 90s? when is this rain going to move out? first alert forecast is coming up next. one of delaware's largest police forces is going to put body cameras on its officers. what does this mean for residents and what are the technical challenges involved in the rollout?

bordentown. officials say it's likely the same seven foot manatee seen last week in delaware. wildlife officials are urging boaters to keep their eyes open for the manatees, slow down and stay away from them. body cameras played a key role leading to charges against an ohio officer after a deadly shooting. today, we learn some new castle county officers are now wearing cameras with a plan in place to eventually get one on every officer. nbc 10's tim furlong has the story. >> reporter: nobody will ever see what exactly led to michael brown's death in ferguson. a body cam did show the final moment of sam debowe's life. shot and killed by former university of cincinnati police officer ray tensing during a routine traffic stop. it unfolded in front of the body camera on his chest. that video has led ohio prosecutors to charge tensing with murder. nothing so dramatic caught on camera in new castle county where eight officers including the one here are now testing out

body cameras. a plan in place to get all county officers geared up in the next two years. >> we feel confident that our officers are out there doing the right thing but this answers the age-old question, how do you prove it? this is how we prove it. >> if you got stopped by an officer would you want them to have a camera on? >> definitely. >> reporter: he flagged me down to say he agrees with delaware's attorney general that every officer in the state should wear a camera. >> i'm young, i'm black, i drive a nice car with tinted windows and rims. they come at me sideways as if i'm doing something wrong already before they even ask me. >> reporter: body camera video isn't perfect. you can see the video can be shaky and lighting really affects video quality. but with all the stories we have seen around the country, new castle county police officials tell me they would rather have them than not have them. >> the cameras are the cheap part. it will cost millions to get severe servers and cloud space for all the video and they need training for when to turn the cameras off like when speaking

with witnesses who need to remain anonymous. transparency accountability more than ever, that's what departments need most. tim furlong, nbc 10 news. we had this line of thunderstorms move through the area just about 100% of the area got at least some rain out of this. the others are about to get it. as you can see, long beach island, there's barnegat light and this line is coming right in at you. within 10 15 minutes, you will get some heavy rain. atlantic city margate, longport ocean city it's not as heavy but it's coming in in the next 10 to 15 minutes. cape may county, it's even lighter than that. it's weakening into sussex county, too. georgetown about to get the rain. lewes, delaware you will get it in about 10 minutes or so. the flood advisory for some of these inland new jersey counties

until 8:45, just localized flooding. fortunately this line of storms continues to move and that's why not a single spot is getting tremendous amounts of rain. but there's enough. two and a half inches in one area near reading, one to two inches in parts of the i-95 area. you can see the areas in yellow generally over two inches. future cast shows this area moving offshore. still lingering showers perhaps during the evening hours in delaware. we're not really with the low humidity yet but as this goes through, later this evening, we will see the humidity go back down and it will stay down for at least a couple days. it sets us up for a really nice weekend. at the shore, for example, friday with the lower humidity a land breeze 84 degrees. the sea breeze kicks in saturday and sunday. just another great weekend at the shore. ocean temperature is 72.

the pocono mountains, lower humidity coming in low humidity stays over the weekend. just a slight chance of a shower on saturday afternoon. the temperatures are back up north and west because the showers went by hours ago and now it's down to 75 in mt. holly while it's 86 degrees in georgetown. they haven't gotten hit yet. they're about to. for tonight, the early showers becoming less humid late tonight. 73 for a low in philadelphia, 63 in some of the northern and western suburbs. tomorrow, lot of sunshine. it will be hot, probably above 90 again. continuing the heat wave. but much less humid and you are going to feel that difference. it will be that dramatic. saturday and sunday the humidity still not too bad. the temperatures it won't be feeling like 100 over the weekend. the eagles are starting their

phillies are getting back six players, five of them very good prospects. there's a lot of medical reports to go through and they have to pass some tests. we believe that's what the holdup is. take a look. cole hamels' locker is still there. when we were in the locker room a couple hours ago, it is still intact. but we believe cole is not here. he leaves quite a legacy here in philly. one of the best pitchers in team history. home-grown. he leaves third all time in franchise history in strikeouts. right now, things still need to be worked out. manager pete mackanin still waiting. >> i know that scottie sheridan has been looking into the medical situation with all the players, ours and theirs double checking things. but that's beyond my scope. >> reporter: how crazy is the trade deadline? last night new york met wilmer flores was crying on the field.
