i'm rayna. and i bank human at td bank. no to the gunshot. >> tonight at 6:00, a fight over firearms. local residents are open arms over a plan to open a gun range and store in their community. today's rally comes on the heels of another violent weekend in the city of philadelphia. just yesterday, police said a man with a rifle opened fire 8i others. randy, what are neighbors saying about this? >> reporter: we talked with the

neighbors and protestors, but also the owners of this business. this is the gun range. it's been a presence here for quite some time. this business is hoping to expand into a full fledge gun store. a group of about two dozen rallied in front of the proposed gun store. they say it's too close to the homes and churches. they're hoping the zoning board will deny this expansion. a previous gun store in this same neighborhood was shut down back in 2009 after the atf found it was selling illegal straw purchases. >> if you're going to start something like selling a lethal product and the whole neighborhood all around you is opposed it, go someplace else.

around? >> not so much. today, we had beautiful conditions and then the clouds moved in. with those clouds, we had a few isolated rain showers across the area. tomorrow, though, we'll have a little bit better chance for showers. right now, we're seeing the rain ending. this is one area where we did ñm÷oltshowers. that one's moving into salem county now. here's what it looks like outside right now. we've seen a couple showers around, but really not much. the rain weatheris maker off to our west tonight. by tomorrow, we'll see conditions start to get rainier later into tomorrow night. temperatures right now, though, in the upper 70s. we're tracking$".k morep0ñ rain go into just about tuesday.

today at lincoln financial field, the eagles held the last of two open training camps. today was extra special for members of our nation's military. ron joins us with that story. >> it was military day as chip kelly and the eagles honored the men and women who serve our great nation. it was a thrilling day for everybody involved. to salute the service of our nation's military, eagles players took the field wearing camouflage fun uniforms followed by a navy s.e.a.l. parachute jump. as more than 70 military members held a 40 foot by 80 foot version of the stars and stripes

and the first preseason game is one week from today. nbc10 is your official eagles station. we have pregame and post game shows as well. coverage begins at 12:30 next sunday, august 16th. a young man died when his suv flipped over in philadelphia's society hill neighborhood this morning. drivingm+4ç three of his friend after a night out on south street. he lost control, hit two trees and flipped over near 4th and lombard street. police say speed was a factor and say the driver was not wearing a seat belt. take a look at these pictures from the coast guard. a sailboat caught fire off of ocean city this morning. coast guard crews and ocean city policexñ rescued two people and their dog from the burning boat. all three are doing okay tonight. we checked, but no word yet on

football fans are mourning the loss of a legend tonight. frank gifford died of natural causes this morning in his connecticut home. during the - 1950s and '60s he s a star on both offense and defense for the new york giants. he was went onto a successful

second career as a broadcaster for monday night football. frank gifford was 84. turning now to decision 2016. a new nbc news survey monkey poll shows donald trump is still the top gop candidate after last week's debate. trump stayed in the headline over the weekend after making negative comments about fox news moderator megyn kelly. ted cruz was next on the list with 13%. and i'm watching cloudy skies across the area. as we start off the workweek, rain chances increase. i'll show you the.x timing of tt rain coming up.

from the pope's visit to philadelphia. he'll touchdown saturday september 26th. each day the anticipation builds. today, hundreds of local high schoolers found out if they'll be a part of the historic event. the students got the surprise of a lifetime. >> reporter: they're tuning up before heading off to band camp. little do they know, a surprise announcement awaits them. >> the very first thing he will hear is the wonderful music from the marching band. you are going to play for the pope! >> reporter: we were with the marching eagles when they learned they will perform on a world stage for pope francis when he arrived in philadelphia. >> it's going to be pretty exciting. songs we're going to be playing, i don't know. it's goiwrz be a surprise to

all of us. >> reporter: pope francis arrives here in less than seven weeks. many logistics are still in the planning stages, like providing for the elderly and disabled. >> that's something we're working really closely with the city, commonwealth, secret service. >> reporter: she says hotels have rooms for those still looking for housing. >> the cardinal high school marching band will perform on sunday, september 27th at atlantic aviation for popewí francis as he departs philadelphia. >> reporter: there no shortage of cheers. even some tears of joy. >> it's just truly extraordinary. i'm blessed to be able to do this. >> reporter: this isn't the first time the marching lions have played for a pope.

well, the day started off really nice. we had more sunshine, more sunshine at the e#akdstore. now the clouds have really taken over. more clouds adds we go through tonight. that's actually going to come with some rain. we are], tracking more rain ine area come early this week. most of us are still dry. heavy rain, though, could be moving into the area as we go into tuesday. still overcast skies in philadelphia. 78 degrees in philadelphia. 78 degrees in ph ladelphia. comfortable outside. we're only in the low 80s through the lee high valley. 79 wilmington. delaware, 77 dover, 77 degrees in atlantic city. most of the area is dry, but the clouds have managed to bring a couple isolated showers in with

them. here's one shower we're watching right around wilmington.uh this one eats slowly going to make its way into new jersey. but there's more moisture back off to the west and southwest. all that's going to keep moving direct. that some storm, but more as we go into tuesday. now here's monday morning. most of the area i think will stay dry. there will be rain getting a little bit closer. we could have a few showers around for the morning commute. by noon tomorrow, there's a chance for scattered showers. through the afternoon, the clouds stick around. rain chances really start to increase tomorrow night. and then tuesday morning, same weather pattern still in place. tuesday afternoon, we still have scattered showers and
