passing pornographic racially offensive and religiously offensive e-mails amongst each other. >> kane announced that she would fulfill a campaign promise to investigate the handling of the jerry sandusky sex abuse scandal. a high profile case in the hands of then attorney general tom corbett and his prosecutors. kane's investigation meant that all e-mails, exchanged by those prosecutors would be under revi review. that's how her office says they uncovered the pornographic messages. she claims that's when the retaliation began. >> newspaper stories appeared, questioning my decision on a case, which was thought to embarrass and intimidate me. it didn't. then they moved to the impaneling of an investigative grand jury, and the abuse of grand jury secrecy laws all in aen attempt to conceal their

it's part of the black lives matter movement that's sweeping the country. >> from what police civil affairs tell us, they weren't quite sure what was going on, when they got reports of a rall i will that was moving down broad street from broad and doll dauphin, stemming from a youth program at the uptown theater. from what we're told, this event had a permit for a rall i will, and a group of out of town musicians decided to take advantage of that with a somewhat spontaneous protest march. a peaceful one. we spoke with one of the officers who told us why they did what they did. >> we wanted to make sure that the world knew that black joy is relevant. just as important as black rage is. we feel like we can use both

police tell us no incidents, no problems, no arrests. doug shimell, nbc10 news. >> meanwhile, authority ins in ferguson say they're going to keep the state of emergency in p place for at least another day. ferguson has seen days of protests, marking the anniversary of unarmed teenager michael brown. the shooting led to weeks of arrests last year. new information about a deadly hit and run involving a tour bus in center city philadelphia. the bus driver tells them he had no idea he hit someone. the bus killed this man yesterday morning. the bus hit and dragged heard before continuing on to washington, d.c.. investigators i is a the driver tells them he wasn't aware he hit anyone. the 19 passengers say they didn't know either.

time. >> nearly 50 women have accused of cosby of sexual assault and rape. he admitted to sedating at least one woman and purchasing drugs to do the same to others. cosby has denied the allegations and has never been criminally charged. it could soon cost drivers more to cross two area bridges. commissioners will decide tonight if they will boost the cost of crossing the tacony palmyra and burlington-breastal bridge. the commute could get more congested as a result. drew smith is live in camden with more on tonight's vote and the impact this could have on drivers. >> right now, burlington county bridges are a bargain compared to the ones here in camden county. that incentive to maybe avoid this bridge and head north could be going away, and that could mean more traffic on already

heavily travelled roots. >> what do they say, you have to pay to get out of the state of new jersey? >> it's a fact of life for people who have to travel across the delaware river. you have to pay up every time. >> i'm in the trucking business, it impacts me negatively, we have to pay these tolls to move the freight. and we either absorb that or pass it along to the customers. >> tonight the burlington bridge commission will consider doubling the cash tolls to a total of $4 on the burlington bristol and tacony palmyra bridges. easy pass will go up to $3. >> if we get more, we have the capacity to handle it. >> the delaware port authority manages the ben franklin and walt whitman bridges. if people decide the tacony palmyra is no longer trekking out of the way, especially since the drpa plans to lower the cost of the ben and walt to $4. >> because of the superior financial performance of this

two school tax increases earlier this year. the world's most closely watched case involving underinflated footballs is front and center in new york city today. deflategate has arrived in federal court. keith jones is following developments from our digital operations center. the season starts next month, the league and the patriots quarterback are eager to resolve the matter before the first snap. cameras were there as brady arrived at a manhattan courthouse this morning. at issue, whether nfl commissioner roger goodell was justified in you is spending brady four games for using under inflated footballs in january's afc championship game. brady did nothing wrong. commissioner goodell arrived a few minutes after brady to a smattering of boos. the nfl is asking the federal judge to declare goodell followed the contract properly. today is a kickoff to what's

expected to be a series of court proceedings. this is all over under inflated footballs. an investigator hired by the nfl determined tom brady used them in the championship game. a softer football makes it easier to throw and catch. the judge told both sides, there are strengths to both of their arguments and he hasn't determined yet who will prevail. we'll just have to wait. reporting live at the digital operations center, keith jones, nbc10 news. a crash has recalled 1700 bicycles. the recall involves breezer bicycles. the pedals can separate from are the spindle and cause the rider to lose control. anyone who has the bike should return it for a pedal replacement. fans of blue bell ice cream may soon see the treats back in the grocery stores. blue bell creameries says it has resumed ice cream shipments. a listeria contamination forced it to remove all products from shelves and halt production.

blue bell voluntarily recalled all of its products in april after its treat were linked to three deaths in kansas. kim kardashian no stranger to criticism. now it's coming from the fda. the fda says kardashian's social media posts violate drug promotion rules. she recently began praising the effectiveness of a pill she takes to treat morning sickness. she never mentions the dangerous side effects that are possible. the fda requires side effects be included in any promotion deal. she has at least 75 million followers, the posts have now come down. check out this new video, it's a time lapse of an enormous dust storm moving across dpeenism. thousands lost power because of the wind and rain. storm visibility dropped to near disappear row.

and on the other hand, our visibility is excellent. it's going to stay excellent for a while, that's going to help us with any kind of meteor shower viewing tonight. we have three viewings here. low humidity and sunshine. today, tomorrow and on friday. but another heat wave is in the forecast. it probably starts over the weekend and also potential dry spell of several days to perhaps as much as a week. live picture shows a lot of blue in that sky. the visibility is great, yesterday at this time we couldn't see anything because of the heavy showers and thunderstorms. 83 degrees, feels like 83. relative humidity is down to 38%. 83 in philadelphia. it's even cooler in pottstown and west chester, at 80 degrees. 81 in reading and allentown, and also in glassboro, an it's 85 degrees in atlantic city inner it national. of course, there's generally a

big difference between the airport in atlantic city, and right at the beaches, because of the sea breeze. and the fact that the airport is so far inland. today, different story. it's almost excellently the same. the land breeze makes all the difference. and tonight it's going to be a good night. if you want to get outside away from the city lights. the meteor shower, it occurs every year. but we have better conditions tonight than we almost ever get. there's hardly any moon and the visibility is so great. we usually have haze or something going on. clouds to block it. you get 1 # 00 meteors per hour, between 10:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m. this has been observed for thosen aeds of years. tonight or tomorrow night, you can go outside. get away from the city lights to see it the best. we have a few clouds way up to the north and west, even a couple of light showers there

near the poconos. but that's about it for any kind of moisture in the eastern half of the country. pretty amazingly dry out there. and the warm air that's with us now stays with us another day. and then the heat starts to build up. and once it builds up, it's going to stay there. here's saturday, here's sunday. here's monday. it just keeps coming on. of course, that means that when the eagles are playing, sunday afternoon, 86 degrees at kickoff. 92 as we head through the afternoon. not exactly football weather. so you have to be prepared for that. clear and comfortable tonight. 65 degrees. for the low in philadelphia, 57 north and west. during the day tomorrow, mostly sunny skies, very low humidity for this time of the year. even lower humidity than today. the temperature right around the same as what we saw today.

the 7-day forecast still pretty comfortable on friday. humidity is still low, temperatures up a few degrees. saturday, up near 90 degrees. humidity up a bit. still not awful. sunday temperature up a bit. humidity a little bit higher. monday may be the peak of this heat wave. getting into the mid-90s, a little higher humidity, we're not looking toward a super dangerous heat wave. but just many days of 90 degrees plus. >> is glenn. be prepared to hit the brakes in parts of deptford township over the next week. paving began from caufield avenue to route 247. the two miles of work will happen during the day. traffic is creating detours. tacoma way is next in line for work starting monday. there's a new exercise

option in sussex county. it's the network of pathways for walkers and bikers. the trail connects several communities, including ocean view, bethany beach and south bethany beach. more than 7 million americans who didn't have health care last year got coverage this year. that's according to a new government survey, the figures show the affordable care act is making coverage more available. it's all in the timing. that is the advice from scientists to women who need help conceiving a baby. retrieving eggs at an earlier stage when they're smaller boosts the chance of success for women in their 40s. typically doctors wait before removing egg follicles for ivf. doctors say taking more immature eggs producing a higher number of good quality embryos. the pennsylvania turnpike closed for nearly 90 miles.

long. historically, it would be two weeks they come down. now they're coming down four days, five days, six days. >> tourism officials say they're already looking ahead to next summer, and might consider changing their marketing strategies by focusing on the midwest to help offset potential losses from canada. i'm ted greenberg, nbc10 news. new information out today about atlantic city's casino crisis. new figures show ac's casinos saw their revenue increase by more than 8% in july. the casinos won more than $257 from gamblers last month. that's compared to just over 238 million in july of last year. the numbers were boosted by more than $12 billion in internet gambling winnings. as for the state help for ac struggles. governor christie hasn't decided whether to sign legislation to do just that. local officials are already arguing over where to spend the

the warm spot. we have a few clouds up to the north. north of the lehigh valley. and a couple showers that go along where that. generally on the small, lighter side, getting into carbon and monroe counties here. it would take a lot for those showers to make it to allentown, as soon as the sun starts going down, those showers will disappear completely. and then we won't have anything on the radar for 1,000 miles or 1500 miles or so. we are in a dry pattern now. the question is, just how long this dry pattern is going to last. it certainly will be dry and comfortable tonight, with the low humidity, great for watching the meteor shower. nice and comfortable, it's not going to stay comfortable, we have a potential heat wave in the 7-day forecast coming up in a few minutes. >> pennsylvania attorney general kathleen cane spoke out today against charges filed against her in montgomery county.

she insists the allegations stem from a pornographic e-mail scandal uncovered by her office. those e-mails were allegedly passed between state prosecutors and judges when tom corbett was the states attorney general. >> my defense will not be that i'm the victim of an old boys network or otherwise. i broke no laws of this commonwealth, period. >> last week, montgomery county's district attorney's office charged kane with leaking sensitive grand jury information to a philadelphia newspaper. a hazmat nightmare closed nearly 90 miles of the pennsylvania turnpike this morning after a truck overturned, the turnpike was closed in both directions between breeze wood and new stanton after the early morning accident. motor oil, diesel fuel and anti-freeze had to be cleaned up by hazmat crews before the stretch of highway could reopen this afternoon. officials aren't saying what caused the crash or how the

driver's doing. a bucks county father is charged in the overdose death of his 2-year-old son last year. >> i didn't do nothing, that's why i'm looking -- >> that was the toddler's father when he was arrested last november. we learned his trial is set for this november. his son died from an overdose of prescription painkillers at their home in middletown township. authorities say wallace told a prison inform an the he killed sebastian to get back at the boy's mother for an alleged affair. wallace later denied that story. a florida woman is accused of having her 4-year-old blow into a breathalyzer to start her car. police released a video of the arrest. april king had her use the handheld breathalyzer sunday afternoon. the devices are installed in the cars of dui offenders, to keep the car from starting if the driver's been drinking. king left her two kids in the suv while she was inside a bar

sunday afternoon. she is now behind bars accused of an ugly crime. a pennsylvania beauty pageant winner is what we're talking about now, accused of faking cancer for profit. brandy lee weaver gates, pocketed money from a fund-raiser in her honor. police accused the miss pennsylvania u.s. international pageant winner of faking leukemia. sponsors of the beauty contest gave weaver-gates $14,000 to cover the cost of fighting the disease. pageant officials wan their crown and sash back. state police tell us anyone who donated money should come forward. uber's edition to our roadways could be making them safer. >> the change on highways that shows the company could be saving lives. plus, your kids play the game red light green light? adults could have their own version coming up soon. this one aims to save you time on the roads, next.

changes for hunters in new jersey this season. the new jersey fish and game council voted to expand bear hunting season, it is an attempt to control the growing population of the animals. the new rules add an additional six-day hunt in october 2016 and broaden the areas where hunters can go. hunters can kill one bear per season. new study out of temple university suggests the uber car service may be reducing the number of drunk driving deaths. researchers at temple looked at trends in alcohol related road deaths, they found death rates dropped by 5 1/2% in california cities that have uber service. uber allows smart phone users to submit a request for a car to pick them up and take them to a destination whether they've been drinking or not. help could be on the way for timing all those red lights that

and a little bit of a breeze too. the average high is 86. and so as we go through tomorrow, about the same as today, and then it starts jumping up, by saturday, we're up near 90 degrees, and then it goes up from there. nowhere near 90 today, only 80 at kennett square. 81 in washington township. 80 degrees in pottstown, 79 in doylestown. a few clouds coming down for that northwest air. mostly in the 80s elsewhere. 78 has a wind coming in off of part of delaware bay. we're not getting the sea breeze off the ocean today. we have some clouds and even a couple light showers near the pocono mountains, not quite reaching down into the lehigh valley and as soon as the sun goes down, they will disappear. and the clouds have disappeared from the eastern half of the country. we're not seeing anything out there. we're not expecting a lot of clouds or rain for the eagles game on sunday. but it will be hot, getting up

to big hurricanes at this time of the year, we're not seeing much of that either, there are many factors that are against tropical development in the atlantic. one of them is the whack of moisture. the light blue areas are the moist ones. not much of that, it's generally dry, and then we have some super dry air out in the central atlantic. anything that's coming off africa is just going into all of that dry air. it doesn't really have much of a chance of developing. and it all goes back to that super el nino in the pacific ocean. clear and comfortable tonight, 65 degrees, the low in philadelphia, 57 north and west. and during the day tomorrow. mostly sunny skies, even lower humidity than today. and the high temperature about the same as today. so may feel even more comfortable. friday, the humidity is still low. the temperature goes up a few degrees. saturday, it goes up to 90. but the humidity is still not terrible. that gets even hotter on sunday for the eagles, and maybe the

they are rescue pups and join her regularly at the clinic where she works. >> always give rescue dogs a chance. there's a lot of great dogs in the shelter that have great personalities. they need a home. they can do a lot of things. >> by these guys she means isabel, an bell and low la. >> she volunteers at chop. she goes to pediatric specialty and water mark retirement community. >> they're rescue dogs turned therapy dogs. >> it's very very rewarding for me as well. they bring a lot of joy to the people that they visit. >> we think that dogs should be rescued from the homeless shelters. that's the thing to do as far as i'm concerned opinion. >> with just days away from our clear the shelters event. these owners are showing off their pets as a reminder that shelter animals are special and sometimes have hidden talents.

former president jimmy carter has cancer. he revealed the diagnosis just minutes ago. saying doctors discovered cancer during surgery on a small mass in his liver. carter says the cancer is also in other parts of his body. he will be treated at emery health care in atlanta. carter is 90 years old, he was president from 1977 to 1981. we're also over breaking news in montgomery county. sky force 10 shows us this mess in flower town. this is flower town road near joshua road where a broken water main is sending water gushing down the street. >> the water department is working to shut down the line.
