in her six page speech she points to a plan of political foes to get her out of office. >> it's a story that begins with porn, racial insensitivity and religious bigotry. more specifically, a story that begins and ends with the circulation of pornographic racial and religiously offensive e-mails. >> she went on national television to talk about the issues. in her speech, she said those who sent the e-mails are orchestrating her political demise. >> that was their plan all along. what this means to pennsylvania voters is that the politicians will now chose their next attorney general for them. >> reporter: kane says she won't answer questions about the charges she faces. she won't name the people in the e-mails and won't release them, unless a montgomery county judge

signs an order allowing her to do so. she won't face any criminal or civil penalties against her. we reached out to the montgomery county district attorney's office and were informed of a policy where the office does not comment about things that criminal defendants say. reporting live in harrisburg, deanna durante, nbc10 news. >> a little more about kathleen kane. kane is the highest ranking woman in state government. kane's driver and head of security is charged in connection with this case. patrick reese here on the right, entered a not guilty plea in court yesterday. the former cop was acting as a spy for his boss. reese vie lated a court order and snooped through employee e-mails looking for information into the investigation into

kane. you can watch kathleen kane's intire statement by tapping on the nbc10 news app. we have this just in a delaware man is charged in a shooting that injured a woman and killed her young daughter earlier this eweek. he opened fire during an argument on monday afternoon. patrice was killed her 4-year-old daughter was hurt along with another woman. blacksheer was not part of the argument. sky force ten over delaware conti, a child was hit by a car about an hour ago. here's the scene along lawrence road in havertown. a medical helicopter you see there, flew the child to the hospital. the driver of the car did stay on the scene. a deadly crash in cumberland county, shut down the road for several hours and left two cars and a truck badly damaged. here's the aftermath, sky force ten over the scene in dorchester this morning.

one person died here, there are other injuries as well. at least three medical helicopters were used to fly victims from this scene. >> we have new information this evening about a deadly accident involving a tour bus. told you about this yesterday. happened just outside philadelphia police headquarters, police now say the driver didn't know he hit someone. doug shimell spoke to the victim's friends about their loss. >> and the future home of wggt f.m. >> few words. >> it's shocking. it's heart breaking. >> 46-year-old joseph hurd had been a host of science 2.0 in germantown. >> we're still talking about millions and millions of plans for potential life. >> he was walking to a dialysis appointment in center city and hit and killed by a large tour bus that did not stop. >> you have someone who -- you genuinely like and you really

involved in something positive that they're doing, and to suddenly imagine they're not there any more, it's -- it kind of takes your breath away. >> investigators say the bus belonging to yep tours in chinatown was identified and contacted after a trip to washington. the 66-year-old driver is cooperating. >> the driver is telling us he was on that route. he goes that route every day, and he didn't realize anything had happened. >> the lack of windows on the bus may have kept passengers from seeing anything as well. even though video purportedly shows the bus lurching after impact. for the man who tried to make science fun, there will be a radio memorial. >> to celebrate the life he had, you know, he was a positive guy and he will be dearly missed, there's a lot of good things to think back on. >> they go not believe the bus driver was under the influence. they have subpoenaed his cell phone records to see if he may

weakening and will totally fall apart, and that's going to leave us with virtually no prescription in the eastern half of the country. it's not going to rain any time soon. 84 in philadelphia right now, that's the high so far today. 80 degrees in reading, 78 in allentown, we got into the mid-80s even at the shore today. as we head through the rest of the evening, the humidity stays low. and so that's going to set us up for just a beautiful night tonight. and a great night to take a look at the meteor shower starting about 10:00 or so when the temperature will be into the upper 70s. again, the low humidity, comfortable temperatures, not going to stay that way. the heat wave is on the way, i'll have the details on that in a few minutes. preparing for the pope, today in montgomery county involved training with explosives. nbc10 at arcadia university in

glenside, officers practiced diffusing several bombs. a suspicious package is traced to a booby-trapped house. officials say the dry run will prevent mistakes during a real emergency. >> we just want our guys to be prepared. it's all about saving lives. their lives as well as the public's lives. >> sheriff says they're expecting an increase in suspicious packages during the pope's visit next month. we're expecting to hear from new jersey's department of transportation tomorrow about its plans for the papal visit. plans will include the complete walking route from camden to philadelphia on the parkway where pope francis will hold mass sunday. we took questions to the delaware river port authority. that organization still ironing out operational plans. things are moving along smoothly especially now that the key road closures have been released.

one subject they likely will not address tomorrow, the complete security plan on the ben franklin bridge. >> we're still refining those plans. and there are elements of those plans that simply are not ever going to be disclosed. >> we also learned that construction will be put on hold on the ben franklin bridge during the papal visit. septa's second lottery for passes for the papal visit underway. this time for the norristown high speedline. have you until 11:59 tonight to apply for these passes. once the lottery ends. septa tells us they will make a master list of those who want to see the pope and those needing to get to work. multiple submissions will be voided. the gulph mills station and villanova station will be open on the norristown line.

dozens of people marching through the streets of philadelphia this afternoon, part of the black lives matter movement that's sweeping the country. protests began on the anniversary of michael brown's death. he's the unarmed teen who was killed by police in ferguson, missouri. there have been no arrests in the philadelphia march. a stepped up push to battle mosquitos as concerns grow about west nile virus in further. >> we're already above what we had last year. >> why experts say the insects could soon start biting even more. also, nbc10 working to find loving homes for local animals, if a forever pet isn't for you, don't worry, the short term way you could help clear the shelters still ahead. >> gorgeous day today, more great weather is ahead, i'm tracking the return of the 90s too. i'll let you know when the hot weather is going to make a

the number of mosquitos testing positive for west nile is up slightly.

some counties are seeing significant increases among them. cape may county home to some of the state's busiest destinations. >> they're full of water. >> water full of baby mosquitos days away from becoming airborne. >> we have to stay on top of areas like this throughout the summer to keep the numbers down. >> cape may county mosquito control dumped these tires in the township. >> it smothers the water so they can't breathe and gets rid of them. >> he and his colleagues have stepped up efforts to target mosquito breeding grounds like this, because of a spike in mosquitos testing positive for west nile virus. >> all of these new jersey counties are up from the same time in 2014, with the mosquito season far from over. this summer's hot and stifling weather has helped the biting

insects flourish. >> i wouldn't be surprised if we saw double because of the pace we're at right now. the population is going to be exposed to mosquitos that are more likely carrying west nile virus. >> so far this year, the state has had two human cases of west nile. one in camden county, the other in burlington. with the population expected to stay strong, officials are urging people to be vigilant about getting rid of standing water on their property. >> this is particularly a problem and somewhat dangerous because these mosquitos hang out around people's homes. >> right now, most of the mosquitos are feeding on birds, but experts say a lot of evidence shows the insects will switch to other animals and humans later in the season. keep lots of bug spray handy. in middle township, ted greenberg, nbc10 news. >> maybe you've heard nbc10 is working to clear the shelters

starting on saturday. and if we don't get there saturday, we'll get there sunday. only 79 at kennett square. washington township. really comfortable numbers for this time of the year. pottstown, coatesville, 79. oxford 79 degrees in doylestown. a lot of places already dropping into the 70s, got into the mid-80s at the shore. now, tonight with the clear skies, we have this big meteor shower going on. we rarely get conditions this good. a new moon, so the sky's not going to be that bright. plus the clean air that we have. get away from the city lights, and then you'll get your best viewing. 10:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. 100 meteors per hour at the peak. this has been observed for thousands of years. and thousands of years to come too. as we take a look at this satellite and radar. the clouds are starting to break

up. the showers out near the poconos, starting to break up. it's leading us to a lot of nothing out there. over the eastern half of the country. hardly any precipitation. that's the way it's going to be on sunday. looks dry for the eagles game. but it's going to get hot. 86 by kickoff, 92 during the latter portion of the game with the higher humidity. it will start feeling like 95. we have the warm air now, the hot air is going to be building up, starting saturday. and then it's going to hang around for a while, which you'll see. for tonight it is nice and comfortable. 65 degrees in philadelphia, 57 north and west. and then tomorrow, even lower humidity than today. mostly sunny skies. similar temperatures. it starts to get a little warmer on friday. the humidity still low. it gets hotter on saturday, still not terrible in the humidity department. 92 for the eagles on sunday, and then the hottest may come monday

it's not injured and is getting better for being sick. it's interesting, there are certain running plays where he isn't as comfortable yet. ryan matthews is getting most of those reps. >> there's some place where i'm comfortable. another place where i need a little more walk work. not just with me, but other guys. >> i think i've got a lot of experience under my belt playing games, playing big games. i know how to get ready mentally and physically, like i said, not -- everything is important. anything you do no matter if it's ota's, minicamp, training, you always want to get the reps you need. you have to be smart about certain situations. >> tim tebow will get his chance to play sunday against the colts, he was not good at all in his last preseason games with the patriots two years ago, he feels he has improved. his throwing motion is better. sunday's going to be big for tim. >> it's coming pretty fast. i'm looking ford to it. it's always nice to be able to
