tracking storms. radar watching rain move through the area on what is already a wet night. good each. i'm jacqueline london. the rain could bring the possibility of flash flooding. let's go meteorologist sheena parveen. how long will the rain last? >> for the overnight period. we are talking about some flash flooding across part of the area. the heaviest rain is upper montgomery, chester county. also as we go into upper bucks county through the lehigh valley. through allentown where we have very heavy rain and hail possibly about a half an inch to an inch in diameter, right

around limerick and upper montgomery county. the rain stretches through i'll allentown through monroe county. we have flood advisories and a flash flood warning for this area because of the heavy rain. this goes across 476 and montgomery county. this will last through the overnight hours. one to two inches in this area and we expect more rain there. if you have to drive through the next couple of hours, be very careful. locally, we have more rain down around maryland approaching delaware. we will be watching this as we go overnight tonight. the flash flood remains through the overnight hours. future weather brings it out by 2:00 a.m. then we go into tomorrow. we will see nice improvements with our weather. by 8:00 in the morning tomorrow, we will have dry conditions. temperatures in the mid 70s. by 10:00 a.m., sunny. by noon, you will feel the humidity dropping off. we will talk about the rain moving out coming up.

federal investigators are searching for the man who robbed a post office at gun point. they released surveillance photos of the crime in progress. george spencer has been following the story and is live in philadelphia's oxford circle. george? >> reporter: investigators say the guy walked in here calmly with a bucket hat low on his head. if his goal was to not being seen, it didn't work. cameras captured him in the post office and as he ran away. cameras captured the suspect walking through the post office lobby, past the unsuspecting customer with her back turned and then pulling out a gun pointed right at workers as he approached the front counter. it was a crime so quick, neighbors barely noticed at first. >> i heard some noise. then the cops came.

>> the entered rather calmly. >> reporter: postal workers described him an his 50s or 60s with a bushy gray beard. through the window tonight, we watched as detectives dusted the store for fingerprints, even though a u.s. post office may seem a strange target for a holdup, it is a federal crime. investigators say such criminals usually know just what they want. >> when people rob a post office, they're after cash, postal money orders, stamps. it's really ridiculous. >> reporter: nbc 10 was with postal investigators and local police as they searched for video from nearby stores. they found this clip of the suspect running away from the scene of his crime. they expect to find even more video evidence in the coming days. no postal employees or customers were injured in all of this. you can provide tips to the u.s.

postal inspection service through their hotline for up to a $25,000 reward. that number is on nbc10.com. i'm george spencer, nbc 10 news. new at 11:00, a 16-year-old girl is charged with murdering a man in camden. the prosecutors office did not release her name. we do know the teenager is from berlin borough. she shot a man last week. he died from his injuries today. no word on a motive. police tell us they have located a 2-year-old girl they thought had been abducted in atlantic city. officers say the girl was with her father. her mother told police the girl's father kidnapped her and did not have custody of her. investigators determined that girl was never in any danger. new video of a rescue on the delaware bay. members of the philadelphia coast guard were called to help a man on a commercial fishing boat after he suffered a

puncture wound. as you can see, the helicopter brought the man on board and rushed him to the hospital. police say a predator is on the loose. they are looking for a man who attacked two women at a philadelphia golf course. randy gyllenhaal is live. police say women should be on alert. >> reporter: and not only that, they are telling women not to walk alone anywhere on this golf course at night after two separate attacks that both sound very similar. during daylight, you will spot golfers scurrying up and down the cobbs creek course. it's usually a quiet spot to tee off. by night fall, at least twice in the past few weeks, police say the course was turned into a crime scene. >> he is pouncing on them. he appears, pounces on them and attacks them.

>> reporter: detectives believe one man is responsible for two violent sexual assaults. the victims, young women, were just walking by. police say one of them was dragged into the woods off the fair way. the other assaulted near this bridge and knocked unconscious. >> that's terrible. i couldn't imagine that. >> reporter: this woman walking home today is accompanied by her boyfriend. >> to keep her safe. i look after her protection. her protection is one of my priorities for sure. >> reporter: police are recommending all women in this area avoid walking alone. the golf course is used as a shortcut for people going to work. >> we would ask them to be aware of their surroundings out there. for women to traffic in pairs or have someone else with them. >> reporter: investigators believe the suspect is still in this area. both victims gave similar descriptions. clean shaven, muscular hispanic male. >> we're here that something

that terrifying can happen. it's a shame. i really hope that they find the suspect. >> reporter: police tell us they have gathered some dna evidence. they do not have any surveillance video. they are hoping for tips from the public. randy gyllenhaal, nbc 10 news. a large crowd showed up for a protest against proposed school cuts in delaware county. students and parents from the chester upland school district plan to gather tonight. but so many people showed up, there weren't enough seats. they decided to hold it next tuesday at chester high school. at issue is the proposal to cut funding to charter schools. the governor is using a delaware county judge to approve the proposal. the cuts would total nearly $25 million for the upcoming school year. >> our children make up most of the community. so why take money from our children and chester community

charter school and other charter schools and put that money into other students' hands when we're all the same? >> the governor hopes the judge signs off on the cuts before classes resume. it's official, philadelphia public schools will close another day for the world meeting of families. they canceled class for thursday, september 24. they were closed the 25th because of the papal visit and the 23rd for yom kippur. they are looking at whether they need to cancel classes monday, september 28 as well. they announced more details about what we can expect. he reiterated that people can drive out of the restricted area of the city but they can't drive back in. trash and recycling will be suspended friday and monday. drones are banned from city airspace. on monday, the city will release an online papal play book, a place where people can get

questions answered. tap on the nbc 10 mobile app to get ready for the visit. you will find the papal itinerary, including where you can see pope francis in person. two police officers will not face charges for shooting and killing a man during a traffic stop last december. >> show me your hands. >> a grand jury decided not to indict the officers for killing 36-year-old jerome reed. they believe they knew reed fired on law enforcement once and they found a gun in the glove box in the car. he was not holding a gun when the officer shot him. the shooting left to protests. one local activist says the grand jury got it wrong. >> we are outraged about it. it's disappointing, but not surprising. >> the police chief says his

department stands behind the officers' actions. you may remember there's another controversial police-involved case in cumberland county. phillip white died after this clash with officers in march. nbc 10 has been working to uncover how and why white died. the prosecutors office told us the autopsy is not complete. we are awaiting an update. former president jimmy carter underwent his first round of radiation this afternoon. doctors discovered melanoma on his brain after removing a tumor from his liver. in addition to radiation, carter's therapy includes a newly approved drug. it helps his immune system seek out and destroy cancer cells. >> i thought i had a few weeks left. but i was surprisingly at ease. you know, i've had a wonderful life. i've had thousands of friends. and i've had an exciting and adventurous and gratifying

existence. >> residents in carter's hometown have adorned their lawns with signs of support. carter is 90 years old. tonight, the pentagon is congratulating two female soldiers for making military history. they are among this group addressing the media today at the army ranger training school in georgia. they are the first women to complete the rigorous school. the ranger course was first opened to female soldiers this year. 19 women began the ranger course back in april. only two finished. >> hoping to go to this course because it's the best training the army can provide. i wanted to have that training before i took a platoon. >> to the other females, i hope they come with strong minds. that's what it takes to get through here. like everyone sitting next to me had to do to make it through tomorrow. >> they will graduate tomorrow with 94 men who completed the training.

did pennsylvania state employees access a website at work looking for extramarital affairs? that's the question tonight after the hacking of the ashley madison website. a similar investigation is under way in philadelphia. the mayor's spokesperson says more than a handful of city e-mail addresses turned up in the hack. workers could face discipline for using their computers for non-work-related activity. josh duggar is apologizing for cheating on his wife after

he was linked to ashley madison. josh said -- in his statement, he did not admit to using ashley madison. he also did not mention any details of his infidelity. he said he became addicted to pornography. to decision 2016, dallas cowboys owner jerry jones is embracing new jersey governor and presidential hopeful chris christie again. jones will host christie for a fund-raiser next month. the hug between christie and jones at a dallas game in january went viral. next month's fund-raiser for the campaign will be held at jerry jones' home. christie is among 17 candidates.

from our south jersey bureau, a warning for visitors to a lake. police are looking for a man posing as a game warden to rob people. investigators say the phony warden was in a kayak when he approached two teenagers fi fishing. he threatened to take their fishing licenses and took rods and rooeels from them. he had two accomplices waiting for him in cars to help pull off the heist. >> the side of my kayak with his. that's when he grabbed it to make sure i couldn't pack away from it. >> i don't know if he was real or not. i didn't want no trouble. gave him my stuff. >> they are investigating. the crime could carry additional charges for impersonating a game warden. from our jerry shore bureau, a reprieve for a piano tuner

soggiest so far. one woman had her umbrella ready thanks to the forecast of sheena. >> i'm so happy to be here. the rain, i pray it stops. hurricane, thank you for letting us know there was going to be a lot of rain today. >> 4,500 people signed up for tonight's popup dinner. a wet night for that. >> yeah. not a good night to be wearing white. we still have the flash flood watch out. heavy rain around. that will stick around for tonight for part of the area. humidity relief does come once all this leaves. here is the flash flood watch. it's the counties in green. the red area, that's a flash flood warning. i will show you more on that in a second. this is actually the cluster of storms causing that through montgomery, bucks county, up into the lehigh valley. this does extend into chester county near westchester.

this is coming in this late tonight with increasing lightning now. now we have a building thunderstorm with heavy rain. the hail in the storm getting larger. close to two inches per hour. that's why we have a flash flood warping in this area. here you see the lightning. this is starting to build in this area of montgomery county. the hail indication has been half an inch to an inch. this is near harleysville. this is making its way to the east. it's over 476 and upper montgomery county. that's where we have the flash flood warning. we have seen a couple inches of rain. could lead to local street flooding. we expect more rain to be falling. this extends through allentown, upper bucks county. richland seeing heavy rain from this. that is the area that we could see some of the most flooding, the green that shows you where we have a flood advisory. we will be watching that heavy rain closely tonight. more thunderstorms in maryland.

those will make their way into delaware. look at future weather. moves a lot of this out by the morning commute. 8:00 tomorrow morning, the dry side. through the afternoon, lower humidity. even into the weekend so far, looks pretty good. humidity stays low, especially for saturday. it's a nice start with warm temperatures across the weekend. tonight though, showers and thunderstorms around, some locally heavy. then tomorrow, we will see showers early at the shore. most of us will have a nice dry morning commute. temperatures about the mid to upper 80s. still a warm day tomorrow. humidity drops through the day. saturday, less humid. nice day for the eagles. mid 80s here on nbc 10 find the game. we get closer to 90 as we go into monday. a night for networking. young entrepreneurs have a chance to connect and share ideas.
