and i bank human at td bank. eagles! >> right now 5at 6:00, a battle of the birds. the eagles preseason clash against the ravens. for the first time, eagles fans will see sam bradford in action. some fans are still tailgating, others are making their way inside. kickoff is just about an hour away. good evening. there's a lot of excitement surrounding tonight's game, and quarterback sam bradford will be making his eagles debut.

we have live team coverage of the second preseason game. randy gyllenhaal is hanging with eagles fans, but let's go to john clark live on the field where the players are getting warmed up. >> reporter: you can see the birds behind me getting ready for their second preseason game, and the big story is the debut of sam bradford as the quarterback for the eagles. much of the eagles success this year depends on sam bradford and that surgery repaired knee. here's sam warming up earlier and this is a huge deal for sam. it has been a year since he has played in the preseason game. in fact, a year ago tomorrow he tore his knee for a second time in the preseason. so tonight he actually is kind of looking forward to taking a hit and seeing how he recuperates from that. here's sam bradford getting ready for his debut. >> i think there's a lot of emotions. i think i'm excited to get back on the field, first of all. it's ban long time.

last year i felt i worked hard to get back in football shape. i was ready to go. got hurt again. so i'm excited to get back out there. i think there are some butterflies in there just getting back out on the field, knowing that i will take a few hits, take them, get up, get going again. >> all right. sam bradford has just taken the field. he's going to warm up and hand the ball off to de marco murray in warmups. it would be the first time we see murray tonight as well. i'm john clark live incise the lin linc, back to you, denise. >> thanks. this is a look from our eagles nest camera. randy gyllenhaal is with other fans at xfinity live, what you are hearing? >> based on what we're hearing, we expect a big crowd. look at everybody out here now at xfinity live. lots of green, lots of jerseys. some of these fans will take

their tickets into the game. others will watch from out here. there's also a big concert going on outside featuring uncle cracker and sugar ray. a couple minutes ago we caught up with some of the most die-hard fans over in the vip parking lot. take a listen. >> going down, baltimore! you're going down! >> and those guys started tailgating pretty early today. the big buses parked outside the linc this afternoon. preseason tailgating is not as intense as the regular season, but the folks we caught up with from jersey and philly were cooking up a storm, throwing back some beers and no doubt arguing about who should be the quarterback in tonight's game and who should be the starting qb some season opener against the falcons. >> i would like to see this quarterback thing get straightened out. personally i live tebo.

degrees. by the fourth quarter dropping down a few more degrees, down to 76. nice conditions expected. i'm tracking a few more clouds for tomorrow. i'll go over that in my full forecast. denise? show me your hands. show me your [ muted ] hands. >> the family of the man killed by police in the shooting in south jersey is speaking out. we're hearing from them for the first time since a grand jury cleared the officers. nbc 10's monique braxton is live in bridgeton, cumberland county. what is the family saying about what's next? >> hi. the family of jerome reed called us to this bridgeton house to denounce the decision. they plan to protest all while being critical of bridgeton's mayor. >> we sit here today in the wake of the no indictment for jerome

reed, asking why. >> they're outraged and they plan to act. walter headson said the reids family will seek federal intervention. >> i feel justice was not served. my son does not have justice. >> jerome reid was shot to death here during a traffic stop last december. a dash cam captured the ensure exchange between the 36-year-old reid and two bridgeton police officers. last week a grand jury decided not to indict the officers, apparently believing testimony that they felt they were in imminent danger when reid jumped out of their car against their orders. we later learned that reid was not holding a gun when officers shot him. his hands were held high, but a gun was found in the glove compartment and we have also learned that reid fired at police in the past. this announcement is doors away from the home of bridgeton's

mayor. we went to get his reaction. >> the mayor has no influence on the grand jury, the mayor has no influence on the investigation. >> reporter: but he is not shocked reid's family showed up here. >> i answer to something higher than any local person here. so i'm not going to be intimidated. >> reporter: we're showing you how police are still posted outside the mayor's home. the officers cleared in reid's death are on administrative leave with pay. we reached out to the police chief, we called him, e-mailed him and so far have gotten no response. live in bridgeton, monique braxton, nbc 10 news. a child swimming in a pool drowned today at the neshaminy shore picnic club in bucks county. the child was pulled to the pool and taken to st. mary medical center. the child died at the hospital.

rallies today outside several planned parenthood locations in our area. dozens of members of the pro life union of philadelphia came together to rally together against the health care organization. this is a rally in westchester, chester county. the protests come as many seek to cut off federal funding for planned parenthood. one protester said she hoped the rallies lead to abortion stopping entirely. >> well, once and for all i would like us to be the land of the free, that leaves babies to be free to be born. it's appalling that our country let this go on for so long. >> protesters in philadelphia were not alone. activists across the country rallied outside hundreds of other planned parenthood locations. we reached out to planned parenthood who tells nbc 10, if these proterss were really committed to reducing unintended pregnancies, they would work with us to increase access to

affordable birth control. i came to see my friends, my first trip in europe. and we stopped a terrorist. >> tonight we're hearing from the american heros who jumped in to stop a terrorist on a train. and trouble for governor chris christie on the campaign trail. why these protesters say they just had to speak up.

a violent night in philadelphia. a 21 man was shot multiple times in west philadelphia on norfolk street. the victim died at the hospital. there have been no arrests. a man shot multiple times in north philadelphia is in critical condition tonight. nbc 10 was on the scene at 24th and first streets just before

11:00 ast niglast night. police have not made arrests in this shooting. in strawberry mansion a man shot three times on north 28th street is fighting for his life. doctors treating him at temple university hospital. and police are searching for the gunman in a shooting in grays ferry. ply say a man was shot at 31st and dickinson at 2:30 in the morning, he ran into a house and collapsed on the basement steps and is listed in critical condition. stopping violence among teens is the goal of this expo at temple university. people of all ages came out today for the war against teen violence expo. it's sponsored by the miss black america pageant. the pageant starts tonight at 8:00. they're being hailed as american heros. what the men are saying they did to stop a terrorist on a train. if you're planning on heading out to the eagles game, i have a great looking forecast for you plus i'm tracking a slight chance of showers for the

>> three americans are being hailed as heroes after subduing an attacker on a paris-bound train yesterday. they are credited for stopping what could be a tragedy. >> reporter: for the three americans who took down a gunman on a packed train last night, they will be in paris tonight ahead of a meeting with the french president. the three were all traveling to europe together. they're childhood friends.

>> we stopped a terrorist. it's kind of crazy. >> reporter: they heard gunshots on board that high-speed train, and saw a gunman with an ak-47. >> i just looked over at spencer and said, let's go. go. >> reporter: the two took down the gunman with the help of their friend, anthony sadler, a british businessman helped to tie up the suspect. >> what else is there to do? either you sit down and you die, or you get up and you die. we've seen enough of these kinds of attacks to understand that they will kill everybody once they get started. >> reporter: one man was shot in the neck and is expected to survive. stone has had surgery on his hand for a cut. as for the suspect, the french interior minister said they're not ready to identify him or talk about a motive. but he did say the attacker was armed with an automatic rifle, nine magazines, a handgun and a a knife. he's now in police custody and is believed to be a 26-year-old

moroccan who was flagged for involvement in islamist groups. back to you. the owner of the home where rosie o'donnell's missing daughter was found is now facing charges. steven sherer is charged with inappropriate contact with a minor. authorities took a computer and other digital excitement when they executed the search warrant. sherer could not be reached for comment. turning to 2016, presidential candidate chris christie was interrupted today as he spoke at the iowa state fair. animal rights activists holding banners jumped on the stage. they were drawing attention to a bill christie vetoed last year that would have prohibited the use of small metal crates for pigs. the protesters were ejected from the state fair but were not

arrested. back to school keeps creeping closer and today 300 local children received free backpacks to get them ready for the new school year. the concord school houses in the germantown neighborhood of philadelphia gave away these school supplies. and a big weekend in university city. today the last few new students at the university of pennsylvania moved into their dorm rooms. nearly 2,500 incoming freshmen will make up the class of 2019. classes start this wednesdayjbú august 26th. good evening, i hope you enjoyed the start of this weekend, because temperatures were a little bit below average, also our humidity stayed down. we'll see similar conditions as we head into sunday. a comfortable sunday on tap. i'm tracking a slight chance of stray showers. i'll show you exactly where and an update for you from the tropics. there's a live look at the linc,

you can see all the players warming up on the field. great conditions expected as we head into the rest of tonight, especially heading out to the game. philadelphia, 84 degrees. the sun is still up. wind speeds out of the north at 7 miles per hour. our humidity is down to 27%. so it will be very comfortable out tonight. right now across the rest of the region, pottstown, 79. georgetown, still at 82. mostly sunny skies. we will see mostly clear conditions as we head into the rest of this evening. for the poconos, 69. 79 in reading. 81 in wilmington. 83 currently in millville. and temperatures in dover at 80. we have a stalled frontal boundary here off the coast. so we're staying nice and dry what will happen tomorrow, we have an area of low pressure that is also off the coast. you'll notice that our wind direction changes a bit moving in from the northeast, and that could help send a few more showers our way. that's mainly confined closer to the shore near atlantic city. the clouds increasing a bit,

closer to the shore. these are going to be short-lived, stray showers, nothing that should keep you from shore plans. just want to give you a heads up. heading into monday night, a slight chance of showers, an isolated thunderstorm as well. an update on hurricane danny. earlier this normorning it was category 2, now a category 1, move together west-northwest at 75 miles per hour. don't expect this to make landfall until we head into sunday overnight. not going to reach san juan or the dominican republic until tuesday. you'll notice that it is going to be a tropical depression at that time. we're still keeping a close eye on it, it is starting to weaken. closer look at the highs, tomorrow more of a mix of sun and clouds, temperatures in the 80s. 85 in wilmington. 84 the high in dover. and the pocono als will make it

the mid 70s. tonight, crisp conditions, temperatures dropping down to 64 in philadelphia. into the 50s for suburbs north and west. if you wake up early tomorrow morning to go to church, you probably will need a light jacket. towards the afternoon you won't. temperatures will range between 83 and 86 degrees. some clouds and stray shower closer to the storm. an isolated chance of a storm on monday. but dry and below average all into next week. i'm danny pommells, it's a big night at the link in south philly as the eagles get set to play their second preseason game on nbc 10. we have much more on sam bradford who is expected to get his first game action as an eagle tonight. we'll be right back.
