nbc 10 breaking news. and that breaking news right now, firefighters are trying to put out flames at an apartment complex in montgomery county. check out this viewer video showing more than a dozen units burning in king of prussia. we'll take you live to the scene. the world is once again watching stock markets in asia. mixed news there overnight. we'll take a look at the numbers and what they may mean for investors on wall street today. a cool start to the morning. look at this as we take a live look at center city philadelphia. we are waking up about 15 degrees cooler than we were at this time yesterday. we'll warm up again into the 80s today. good news in the seven-day forecast. good morning, this is nbc 10 news today for this wednesday. i'm chris cato. let's begin with meteorologist bill henley and his first alert

forecast on a nice breezy, cool start to the wednesday. >> feels great. humidity is nice. low skies, temperatures cooler. we're looking at 50s and 60s for most of the area. northeast philadelphia at 66, a cool start and a sunny day ahead. we'll see clear skies at 6:00, 67 degrees. by 9:00, brilliant sunshine, low 70s and right up to the 80 degree mark. very low humidity at noontime. the wind out of the northwest at 7 miles an hour. that's that dry comfortable air coming in. it will be staying for the entire area today. take a look at the neighborhood by neighborhood forecast when i'm back in ten minutes. right now it's early on a wednesday morning. jessica boyington has your first alert traffic. good morning, jessica. >> good morning, bill. we've on the vine street expressway where we're clear in terms of traffic. right now we are watching out for a work zone on the eastbound side, you can see that right in here, not actually taking outç

any lanes. it's off of the off ramp. you can see the drive time is okay, 59 to the schuylkill expressway, that's the westbound drive time, a three-minute trip. it's the same heading in the other direction. watch out for that. drive times around the philadelphia area, if you're on 95, no problems headed southbound from woodhaven road up towards the vine, a 13-minute trip. no problems on the blue route. if you're head the southbound, that's a 16-minute trip there. mass transit, currently fro problems or delays. chris? breaking news in montgomery county. where a fast-moving apartment fire force ed dozens of people leave their homes overnight. katy zachry is live in king of prussia. what's the latest there? >> chris, if you take a look behind me, a portion of the fire is still burning at the abrams run apartment complex in king of perfect ushia, right off of bill smith boulevard. this fire you're looking at right here is being maintained by firefighters in the sense

they're watching it. they believe this is a gas-fed fire. this portion of the fire you're looking at right here. they say they have a handle on it, they're just waiting for peco to dig a hole down to the gas line. these peco crews just arrived in the last few minutes. you can see them breaking through the topsoil, digging down to the gas lane. when they turn off the gas line, i'm told that fire that we just showed you will be put out. the fire that break out this morning was primarily on the roof and inside of this section of the apartment complex, the abrams run apartment complex. that fire forced many, many people to evacuate, dozens if not close to 100. we're told 30 people are without a home. they've been displaced because a total of 16 units at this complex have been burned to the point where families cannot return. this is a mix of families,

working professionals, young couples. i've spoken to some of them off camera and theyç say they were woken up by police and fire knocking at their door around 1:30 telling them to evacuate. we'll have comments from them coming up in the next half hour and you'll hear from the fire chief. good news here, no injuries to anyone living in this area or firefighters. reporting live in king of prussia, katy zachry, nbc 10 news. more breaking news now. this is from burlington, new jersey. a live pick from the scene brought to us by our photo journalist matt pantelino. a person died in this crash on route 130. another person from that car was flown to the hospital. we done know their condition. you can see the car split in half. as matt pans around, he's showing us the other half of the car. this is right outside thenner it prize car rental on route 130 and beverly road.

130 northbound closed right there. we'll continue to follow this story and let you know when that road re-opens and any other details we get on the accident. 4:05 now. this morning, stocks were mixed in china and japan. that's better news compared to the last couple of mornings. the chinese markets in shanghai and hong kong showed gains most of the day before slumping just before the close. the nikkei index in tokyo rose sharply and that could spark investor confidence here at home this morning. stocks in new york will open lower again this morning. a surge of buying started the session yesterday but it collapsed toward the end of the day, ending a down market for the day. the dow jones industrial average finishing more than 200 points down at 15,666. of course, markets around the world are jittery because of china's economy showing signs of slowing.

yesterday, the chinese cut interest rates for the fifth time since november hoping for a boost. back here at home, new from overnight, a shooting at a philadelphia bar left one man in c %q% condition, another facing charges and customers shaken after a close call. police say two men got into a fight at the last shot in port richmond. they went outside, one man pulled a gun, shooting the other. when the victim ran back into the bar, the shooter fired two more shots, narrowly missing people inside the bar. people arrested the suspect. police sources tell nbc 10 three bodies found inside a garage in philadelphia yesterday may have come from nursing homes. police discovered those bodies after neighbors noticed a foul odor coming from an open garage on hagard street. nbc 10 is not naming the owner. we blurred her face here because she's not charged with a crime. we spoke with another funeral

director in the neighborhood who told us this. >> this is a devastation. you know, i'm concerned more about the families that will find out what's going on. >> now, we checked state records and the records show that the funeral home license expired in 2012. police sources tell us the bodies are those of people in their late 80s and they came from two nursing homes. the investigation continues. 4:07. happening today, a whistle-blower and his attorneys will inspect a closed frat house at penn state as part of a hazing lawsuit. attorneys for james will say he will go through the former kappa delta rho house room by room with a video camera to show where alleged abuse happened. he claims as a new fraternity member he was beaten, burned with cigarettes and forced to drink urine and hot sauce and claims penn state ignored his complaints.

the school suspended the frat until 2018. friends of curtis smith say they are baffled by what happened yesterday at the chester county courthouse. smith is the man that deputies shot and killed yesterday. the district attorney says smith charged past metalç detectors, pulled out a knife and started slashing a sheriff's deputy. another deputy shot smith, killing him. >> he says i'm gonna get you, i'm gonna get you and keeps running. all of a sudden, pop, pop. >> he was friendly. >> one of his numbers in coatesville. he was arrested for jumping the white house fence in march. and the deputy who was attacked yesterday was hospitalized with cuts on his arm and hand. no word on his condition but he's expected to be okay. the courthouse is expected to re-open today.

head to the ppl center in allentown if you're looking for a job. the arena which opened last october is looking for part-time workers. job fair runs from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the ppl center on hamilton street in allentown. now your nbc 10 first alert weather with meteorologist bill henley. >> 4:09. if you're looking for nice, comfortable weather, step out the door. the temperatures have dropped into the 50s and 60s. a cooler morning this morning. we're running 10 to 15 degrees cooler for most of the area than yesterday. we'll see lots of sunshine. warm afternoon but it will stay comfortable with very little humidity. we're on track for a weekend warmup, the temperatures will go higher. the humidity may not be all that bad this weekend. right now we're looking at comfortable conditions, 58 in allentown, northeast philadelphia 66 degrees with clear skies and atlantic city is nice and comfortable at 62 degrees. nice, beautiful view of boathouse row.

it's glowing this morning. very little wind to start with. what little breeze we have is coming out of the north. that's the dry air that's coming into the area. showers to the northwest, showers offshore, in between, we are completely dry. no sign of any rainfall today. you'll need your sunglasses rather than your umbrella. clear at the shore as well. the showers that started things today. neighborhood by neighborhood forecast, low 70s for the pocono mountains. look at quakertown, 79 degrees and right at 80 for allentown and reading. very low humidity for doylestown, trenton, mount holly with plenty of sunshine. at the shore it's right around the 80 degree mark for atlantic city, cape may, delaware beaches at 81 degrees. beautiful sunshine inland as well. that's a nice warmup. made it up to 89 in philadelphia yesterday. 84 for philadelphia in swedesboro and right at the 80 degree mark at west chester. back in ten minutes.

let's check in on our breaking news we brought you at the top of the hour. this is a fire burning right now at an apartment complex in king of prussia. this is a gas line burning off the excess gas there. crews are working to snuff this

out. they have pgw crews in there working to put things out. this is a result of a fire that burned 16 units at the abrams run apartments in king of prussia. nbc 10's katy zachry is there on scene gathering new information for us. we know several families are displaced by this fire. she'll have an update for us at 4:30. now to decision 2016. donald trump making headlines after he threw a univision anchor out of a news conference in iowa. watch and listen. >> excuse me, sit down, you weren't called. sit down. sit down. sit down. go ahead. no, you don't. you haven't been called. go back to univision. >> that was jorge ramos trying to get a question in to trump about deporting millions of undocumented immigrants. ramos later returned with trump

greeting him before they resumed their argument. >> they looked at some of the gangs in baltimore. they looked at some of the gangs in chicago and ferguson. they have rough, illegal immigrants in those gangs. you mind if i send them out? if they come from mexico, do you mind if i send them back to mexico? no, no, do you mind if i send them back to mexico? those people are out. they'll be out so fast your head will spin. you used the word illegal imgran. you should use it. that's what the definition is. >> trump also reminded ramos that heç is suing univision. the spanish speaking network drum -- dropped the miss america pageant after trump called some illegal immigrants cnns and rapists. new jersey governor chris christie is blasting the iran nuclear deal.

yesterday, christie called on the state's congressional delegation to vote down the deal. he stood alongside jewish leaders in denouncing the agreement. the governor calls it a bad idea, a bad deal and he said that president obama lied to america about the details. and today's supporters of the iran nuclear deal are planning a series of rallies across the country. in this area they'll be gathering outside the offices of senators bob casey and chris coons and brady as well. the first international rail crossing between the u.s. and mexico opened yesterday after more than a century. cargo hasn't been shipped using rail lines between the u.s. and mexico since 1910. this project started back in 2010 and it cost more than $100 million. the rail system is part of an effort to expand trade between the two countries. and its opening comes during a hot topic debate surrounding illegal immigration.

4:17 now. yes, summer is winding down, kids. school is almost back in session for a lot of children in this area. many of them are still at summer camp and their next meal is being made right now by hundreds of volunteers. without those, they might not have anything to eat. nbc 10's matt delucia went to find out why and who's reaching out. >> reporter: to understand how this happens -- >> thank you. >> reporter: you should know what goes into putting this food on the table. >> i got it. i got it. >> reporter: inside a warehouse in pennsauken at the food bank of south jersey, teams of volunteers are hard at work. >> it's funç to help out. >> reporter: helping because throughout new jersey one in five kids doesn't know where the next meal is coming from or when. and that's the case for at least 1,600 kids at 45 different summer camps. folks like louise goldson just can't accept that. >> we get to go home and eat,

jersey around 295. everything moving along nicely, all lanes open. no incidents to worry about at this point. moving forward to the 42 freeway, you can see moving along with all of the cars nice and green, a five-minute drive time from 55 up towards the walt whitman bridge. out in burlington township, investigation scene, due to a fatal accident closing route 130 northbound at beverly road. all lanes are closed in the area. they are detouring traffic around the scene. your alternate is fine for right now. you don't need one because there's not a lot of volume and traffic throughout the area. follow the local detours and you'll do just fine. the tac pal, the ben and betsy are all clear this morning. chris? happening today, resorts casino hotel in atlantic city will unveil its new conference center. you're looking at an artist's rendering it of that facility. it will feature thousands of square feet of event space with a dozen new conference rooms.

stand by for a programming note and jazzy music. the eagles visit the packers saturday night, preseason game number 3. everyone eager to see how the eagles will play on the road. watch that game right here on nbc 10. nbc 10 is the official television station of the eagles. i just combined some words there. that was my fault. and that's the same thing that curt schilling is saying. he's saying that a tweet that he posted yesterday that ended up costing his tv announcing job is 100% his fault. yesterday espn dropped schilling from its coverage of the little league world series. the network made that move after schilling sent a tweet comparing muslim extremists to nazis. the message was posted for ten minutes before being deleted.

schilling later said he understood and accepted his suspension. schilling's tweet had a picture of adolf hitler with the text saying, it said that only 5% to 10% of muslim are extremists. in 1940 only 7% of germans were nazis. how did that go? schilling commented that the math is staggering when you get the true numbers. the latest on a looming strike at the taj mahal casino. an atlantic city consumers union is giving icahn a chance to avoid that strike. they held a strike preparation event at the casino. they're threatening to walk off the job if the casino does not restore health insurance and pension coverage for workers. last year, a bankruptcy judge ruled those benefits could be cut. now, your nbc 10 first alert weather. >> nice, cool start.
