new president announced she laid off nearly two dozen employees and she blames that on a $12 million shortfall. dr. collin hanich says enrollment is down and operating costs are up. in an open letter she says the layoffs will help la salle stay true to its 150-year tradition. this is not the first time la salle has encountered and overcome diversity. she says they will persevere.

a reporter and a cameraman shot dead during a live tv news report this morning. it happened in central virginia. right now an intense manhunt is under way for the killer. it is a shocking story. good morning, i'm chris cato. let's take another look at that video. the reporter, 24-year-old allison parker and the photographer, 27-year-old adam ward, were doing a live interview for a cbs station at a shopping center in virginia when a gunman walked up and open fire. virginia's governor says the gunman is a disgruntled former station employee. parker and ward were both working the morning shift when they were killed. again, doing a live report, a feature story on tourism there
