after falling off 74 points yesterday it's been a wild ride. >> a house fire at the jersey shore that killed a couple and their two children does not appear to be accidental. investigators believe the family may be victims of a murder suicide. the fire was reported late yesterday in the family's home in long branch monmouth, county. investigators say that fire ignited in more than one spot in the house. the couple and their two children were taken to a hospital. they died there the prosecutor says their injuries did not appear to be related to the fire we have information about a nude photo scandal at a montgomery county high school. a former mount pen student has been arrested in that case. brandon tyler berlin contained

we're avoiding the crowds. today in delaware county, parents and students are showing their appreciation for teachers even though they will be working and not paid. >> it's a great day in chester and a wonderful day at chester high school. >> this morning, a bell ringing ceremony welcomed students back for the first day of classes at chester high school. class is in session, thanks to a decision by chester upland teachers and support staff to keep working, despite a financial crisis facing the district. that means those teachers won't get paid. >> it has a huge impact because my wife also works for the school district. if i don't get paid, she doesn't get paid, that puts us in a bind as well. >> supporters of the teachers handed out flyers to parents asking them to call their legislator and pass a budget. >> i think it's a great benefit these teachers are looking out

for the students. they didn't have to do it, but they're doing it for the benefit of the children and their education. >> the school has been in and out of crisis for 25 years. they're not receiving any state funding at the beginning school year because of the ongoing budget impasses in harrisburg. officials at a new jersey day-care center are apologizing to parents after two workers were accused of instigating scuffles as part of a fight club, the workers were charged yesterday with child abuse. officials at the light bridge academy center said in a statement, it was shocked and saddened by this isolated incident. the workers instigated the fight club among children from 4 to 6 years old. one of the workers also recorded video of the fights and shared the clips with several friends on social media. nbc10 news found out, you're going to need a ticket to get

anywhere near the stage on the parkway when the pope gets to town. >> this is brand new information. let's get to george spencer many what have you found out there, george? >> until now, everyone's been pretty much led to believe you could just show up on the parkway and get at least a pretty decent look at the pope. but now a new map has surfaced that shows huge swaths of the parkway being designated for ticket holders only. take a look at this map from the secret service. the bright red area toward the top left of your screen, that's the area we're finding out is for ticket holders, it starts right at the stage and goes all the way back to 20th street. the ticketed area also stretches for blocks around the parkway from the museum and over to 20th street, a live look at the parkway from our camera on top of the melon builden. we have known all along there would be a vip area set up in

front of the stage the world meeting of families website says this is free and open to the public. this view shows the big swath of the parkway that we're just now learning, will be held for ticket holders only. the big question how do you get a ticket and are there any left to get? that's the part of the story we're looking to find answers. for now that is the latest in the live digital operations center. george spencer, nbc10 news. >> thank you very much. charges against six police officers in connection with the death of a baltimore man will stand. today a judge denied a motion to dismiss the charges against these six officers. they're charged in the death of freddie gray. all of the officers have pleaded not guilty, none were in court today. about five months ago, gray was arrested and put into the back of a van to be transported to jail. he died a week later, autopsy results say he suffered a critical spinal injury while in

custody. outside the courthouse, dozens of demonstrators took turns on a bull horn voicing their frustrations about the case. one person there was arrested. gray's arrest was caught on tape, his death sparked protests and riots. the judge also dismissed motions asking for the states attorney marilyn mows by to step down from the case. a motion to move the trial out of baltimore, that will be heard next week. the officers' trial begins in may. leaders in philadelphia announce they're introducing a bill that would prevent an officer's name from being released to the public if that officer was involved in a shooting. the president of the city's fraternal order of police outlined the plan this morning. the bill aims to protect an officer's identity during a shooting investigation, except in cases where the officer is charged with a crime. >> as americans, we know that all citizens, including our police are protected by the

president in a month. biden does decide to enter the race, he will face hillary clinton, bernie sanders, martin o'malley and others in the democratic field. cnn changing the rules for its second gop debate later this month. originally the network planned to average polls from mid july to september 10th. the top ten candidates would be included in the debate. the rest would take part in a forum earlier in the day. cnn decided to change the dates to polls between august 6th and september 10th. the change comes after an outcry that the only female candidate who has had a recent boost in the polls would be excluded. carly fiorina's campaign tweeted, thank you to supporters who pushed for the change. there is a crowded field, 17 gop candidates trying to win the republican nomination. thunder rumbled over the board walk in atlantic city. hundreds of thousands of people swarmed the beach for the annual air show. drew smith was there among the

an attack in ocean city leads to a fine for a man from the pittsburgh area. he was given a summons for illegal possession of wildlife. the seagull attacked his 2-year-old daughter as she ate. he hit it with his rolled up towel and broke its wing. he died as he was taking it to a trash can. authorities in new jersey have treated a deer who was spotted more than nine months ago with an arrow lodged in her face. you may remember these images right here. the deer, state, fish and wildlife officials removed most

districts received their student scores from a new statewide standardized test. >> it's proving to be a challenge for kids. let's go live to tim furlong, outside in new castle county with results and reaction from local families. tim? >> to be fair, delaware education officials always said this test raises the bar on students. it is a little bit open to interpretation, they say the students did better than they were expected to, but really the numbers are not great. >> delaware kids are now back in school, and soon they will know how they did on a test they took months ago. students like savannah had to think critically. >> if you were in this situation, what would you do, list three things? >> it's harder because you have to come up with your own answer and you have to use punctuation. >> the state warned parents the test is harder and results won't look pretty. the numbers are better than they

next month. forced delays in construction projects and lead to expanded testing for vehicles. an experimental type of cancer treatment has been shown to keep some patients alive and in remission for at least four years. the work is being done right here in philadelphia. the immuno therapy work is being done at the university of pennsylvania school of pedestrians. it's been used to treat patients with the most common form of leukemia in adults. out of 14 patients who have tried the therapy, eight of them were helped, four of them went into complete remission. the number of men undergoing surgery to fight breast cancer is on the rise. researchers found the amount of men with breast cancer undergoing surgery to remove their uneffected breasts doubled since 2004, the surgery didn't examine whether it correlated with genetic testing or family history. >> health care providers should discuss all possible outcomes with their male patients in order to assist them in choosing the best treatments.

another hot and humid day, so the heat wave continues, we are tracking one more day of this heat and then we'll start to see a little relief, our storms are going to return, that's going to help as well. that will happen on friday, that's good timing especially if you want a dry holiday, which is something we are tracking. expect to stay dry saturday, sunday and monday as of right now. there's a look at the poconos, that looks like a great place to cool down, especially with the temperatures in philadelphia. a mix of sun and clouds. wind speeds out of the south-southwest right now at 9 miles per hour, it's sticky out, we do have improvements on the way. current conditions show we're at 83 degrees in the poconos, 89, trenton, temperatures close to 89 in mt. holly. low 90s in wilmington. millville at 86 degrees, temperatures at the atlantic city airport. closer to the mid 80s, it's a little cooler along the shore line, still above average for us. this is heat wave number five,
