large part of the parkway is being reserved for people who have tickets. take a look at this map. that red area will be closed to everyone except those with a ticket. keith jones is here with a closer look at this map. keith? >> look at this. this bright red area here extends from the art museum all the way down to 20th street, which is where it meets the vine street expressway. take a closer look now. stretches for several blocks around the parkway too. bottom line here, if you don't have a ticket, you're not going to get anywhere near the state for the two big papal events on the parkway. tickets are free. they're being distributed by parishes in the archdiocese. some tickets are also going to leaders of other religions and a social services group. the parkway tickets are for the festival of families event on saturday september 26th, and the papal mass the following day, september 27th.

the archdiocese just sent us this statement, it is important to be clear that the announcement of limited ticketing does not limit participation in these events in anyway, there's plenty of room for all who wish to attend. live look right now at the ben franklin parkway. we talked to two local churches who have tickets in hand. they told us that certain tickets were given in proportion to the size of the parish. the papal event on independence mall on saturday was always known to be a ticketed event. those 5,000 tickets will be made available online first come first served next week, we have all the details on our free nbc10 news app. keith jones, nbc10 news. have world meeting of family planners been so preoccupied they overlooked everything else. that's one of the findings in a survey of businesses in the zone where pope francis will be appearing. city controller says only 68 of

maybe they're all working like we are. sheena parveen joins us now with her first alert forecast. >> i'm sure it will be very packed this week as we go into this labor day weekend, last unofficial week of summer. keep in mind the advertised 83 degrees, today another hot one, we are in a heat wave. today we continued that, tomorrow we continue it, and going into your labor day weekend, we should be breaking out of this heat wave. that's going to be with showers, maybe thunderstorms in the forecast, mostly for friday, it's going to shape up nicely as we go into your weekend. for the rest of the evening, still near 90 degrees by 7:00 p.m. 9:00, temperatures about the mid to low 80s, near 80 degrees, warm and muggy, and we could start to see the development of fog again. coming up, i'll show you the timing of the rain for the end of the week, and your entire labor day weekend forecast straight ahead opinion.

the white house got the extra vote it needed to clear the way for president obama's nuclear deal with iran. a maryland senator became the crucial 34th vote today opinion john kerry brought the push for support here to philadelphia. cydney long joins us live from independence mall with more on this. >> i can tell you secretary kerry says he chose philadelphia because it's a symbol of freedom and because founding father ben franklin became iconic for making that list of pros and cons for the invited guests who were listening inside the constitution center today. to his thoughts on the iran nuclear deal, he invited them to take notes and do the same. >> i have felt in my bones the evil of the holocaust. >> he helped charter the agreement.

all, he's live on the board walk. how was the show. >> a lot of people are heading home to their hotels or homes impressed tonight, a lot of the first time visitors tell us this was a really good air show. others say this is just the best spot to catch one of these air shows. >> thunder over the board walk air show organizers say the fastest and loudest action for the end. as the u.s. navy blue angels sored over beaches packed with people keeping their eyes to the sky. >> we've been coming for years. the callahan family brought out a tent and table full of food. their air show tradition impacted this year. >> we just made it under the wire. we talked to a lot of people who said they couldn't come because their kids are in school. >> businesses were worried about that too. >> we've done a lot of business, a lot of excited people here.

>> in the end they were satisfied with the crowds and hope it continues into labor day. >> a lot of these people that are here will spend the rest of the weekend here. it definitely is a good start for the weekend. >> many people watched from the ocean as private planes sored up and spiraled back down toward the water, some visitors also took the time to acknowledge the service members taking part in the event. >> say thanks for what they do. it's also fun to see what the pilots do. >> the organizers don't have a crowd estimate for us just yet, but it was quite the setup here, they're still cleaning up a couple hours after this air show ended. it was not just in the air that the show was going on, it was out on the ocean as well. live in atlantic city, drew smith, nbc10 news. a new effort to save lives in berks county, free heroin overdose kits are being offered

to the public, they contain narcan. 20 people have died from suspected heroin overdoses this year. anyone who wants a free kit must pass an online test learning how to administer the drug. a delaware county nurse arrested on charges she stole thousands of dollars from a terminally ill patient. she took $88,000 from james mooney before he died. the d.a. says she made herself his beneficiary without his consent and wrote checks out to herself. a brighter scene in hunting park philadelphia. check out this mural. it's part of the city of philadelphia arts program. students helped with the creation along the artist benjamin bultack.

only the second day into september, and we are still 10 degrees above normal for our high temperatures. the heat wave continues, temperatures in the 90s today, and we expect to stay like that tomorrow too. friday we're going to see some changes, that's when we expect scattered showers, maybe thunderstorms around, and that should really break us out of the heat wave. that rain is expected to come in the middle of the day friday for some of us. and that leads us into a nice labor day weekend. the timing of the rain is going to be good, once it moves through, the humidity starts to drop. right now it's hot in allentown, still 89 degrees, 88 in west chester, 92. glassboro 88. areas closer to the shore a little cooler. here's a nice look at the shore, cape may a little hazy, it's been pretty hazy all day with the morning fog around. the shore is going to be one of

the most crowded places to be as we go into your labor day weekend. >> in cape may right now, filtered sunshine around, otherwise mostly sunny, temperatures in the upper 70s feeling more like the mid-80s when you factor in the humidity. it's going to stay hot and humid as we go through tomorrow too. we're dry right now on radar, any rain is back around washington, that should really stay away from the area, our next rain chance isn't going to be until the end of the week for your friday. future weather keeps us hot and dry as we go into the next 24 hours, tomorrow afternoon we'll be back into the 90s. we go into friday, morning hours should be mostly dry. 1:00 p.m. friday, we should have scattered showers, maybe thunderstorms moving through. i think the least amount of rain will be closer to the shore. you see it further inland that should leave the philadelphia area. humidity gets lower, if you're

in sussex county saturday, you could see lingering rain, but the rest of your weekend will be shaping up to be very nice. here's a look at your saturday forecast, if you're in sussex county delaware, even near maryland closer to ocean city, expect temperatures in the upper 70s for your saturday. some of those clouds could be lingering for the early afternoon. temperatures mid-70s, 78 degrees for wildwood, 79 nor ocean city, expect sunny skies, the further north we go, seaside park could be at 73 degrees, with an onshore wind. also a little breezy saturday too. the hamptons coming in at 77 degrees, sunny, nantucket, cape cod, mid-70s, a little closer to home, we're going to be seeing a chance for rain friday. . 80 degrees, still breezy. the rest of the area for your labor day weekend philadelphia area temperatures mid to upper 80s across the weekend, as we go
