we're following breaking news out in mississippi where officials are about to begin a news conference after a professor was shot to death on his school campus. shannon lab has been identified as a person of interest in this case. he's still on this loose. he's also a suspect in the shooting death of a woman he lived with 300 miles away.

students were advised to shelter in place. the gunman was never found. history professor ethan smith was shot in his office this morning. police have not released details about his relationship with the person of interest. the eagles left kicking themselves falling to the falcons in opening day. chip kellie's new offense made its regular season debut but it turned out to be a game of missed opportunities. john clark is live in atlanta. what is the coach saying about this? >> reporter: this is really tough. the eagles got down 20-3. it was really, really tough

wildfire ranging in northern california. fire teamsbattling the flames around the clock but the fire is only 5% contained. at least one person has died and four firefighters have been injured. thousands are displaced from their homes and the fight is far from over. >> we don't see an end in fire season for the months to come. >> reporter: at this point there's no solid count on the number of homes and businesses destroyed. fire crews from around the country continue to pour in to help. not what you want during your dinner time rush. there was an electrical fire. the incident was under control by 6:30 this evening. we're still waiting for official word as to why the fire was started. it was back to work for the

kentucky clerk who refued to issue marriage licenses. she says she won't stand in the way of her deputy clerks who began issuing same-sex marriage licenses in her absence. she spoke before walking back into the office this morning. >> i'm no hero. i'm just a person that's been transformed by the grace of god and who wants to work, be with my family. >> davis also said she wants her name and title removed from the same-sex marriage licenses. a philadelphia funeral homeowner accused of leaving rotting bodies in a garage is due before state regulators tomorrow. janet powell has a hearing and if she doesn't show up, she could be fired. her funeral home is not licensed.

tonight, a generous donation to a local university. it's all in the name of cancer research. they are donating $400,000 to university of pennsylvania's abramson cancer center. she and her family started the foundation last year after she was diagnosed with melanoma. this year she's passed. this year her family is pushing forward with their fight in her memory. >> what we wanted to do with the foundation this year was continue her mission and legacy and how to keep her goal and her ambition alive. >> the miller family hopes more research will ultimately lead to a cure. this historic hotel abandoned for years. who is planning to reopen the doors. the possible new buyer for

arnold schwarzenegger should get used to saying that line a lot. he's been chosen to be the next host of celebrity apprentice. the movie star and two term governor will replace donald trump for the show's 2016 season. the show is known for its business savvy celebrity contestants. nbc severed tied with jump this summer. trump is now the gop front-runner and he was in dallas. he renewed his charge against illegal immigration calling the

united states a dumping ground for the rest of the world. he will face off against other presidential hopefuls on wednesday. a cording to a new university poll nearly three in ten republican new hampshire primary voters are backing trump. ben carson takes the second place spot while john kasich has dropped to third. on the democratic side recent polls show bernie sanders gaining on hillary clinton's standard to his progressive message to a packed auditorium. the shutter showboat casino could soon have a new owner. they are working on a deal to buy the building.

stockton university bought the showboat for $18 million last september. legal complications prevented it from converted the casino into a campus. the university has no comment. this week a philadelphia landmark begins a transformation. a developer plans to break grounds to put apartments in the divine hotel. we explain why the building's current condition and history has people excited for the coming changes. >> reporter: the letters along the top spell out its name, divine lorrain hotel. >> this is an icon. >> reporter: the rest of the issues are much more serious. >> it's disgusting. the history is great but it looks terrible. >> reporter: still people are fascinating with the design.

by the morning hours most of you will be in the upper 40s. we're still looking at the dry weather tomorrow and for most of the week. even into your weekend. the 80-degree temperatures also return into the forecast starting tomorrow. mostly the low 80s. current temperatures are cooling down. 58 in allentown. mid-60s philadelphia and now be bethleham. it's going to be a cool start for everybody by tomorrow morning. the avenue ram high is 79 degrees. it is getting lower. yesterday we were only at 72. today we were only at 77.

starting tomorrow we'll with getting above average. more like the mid 80 ts. it will start to warm up a bit more and feel like summer as we go through the rest of the week. we'll be keeping temperatures around the low 80s. the humidity is not going to come back wednesday or thursday. it will come back as we go into the weekend. temperatures will be evening out in the mid-80s as we go into thursday and even wednesday. this is one thing we'll be watching as we go into the weekend. humidity starting to go up. overall we'll be looking at cool mornings as we go into the next several days. the morning will be staying on the cool side. we're looking at temperatures still around the 60s as we go through the next several days. we're looking at a pretty nice fall like weather pattern in
