jay gray is joining us live from simi valley. thanks for being here. first, does governor christie need to make a big splash to stay in this tonight? >> reporter: yeah, you would certainly think so, jim. he's lagging in the polls here, as you talk about, the final entrant into the plain card here, main event, if you will. and he really needs to capture some of the momentum. so far a race of outsiders. donald trump at top of the polls and with a lot of momentum comes into the debate a second one with a huge target on his back. carly fiorina gained momentum since starring on the undercard of the last debate, looking to make a splash. ben carson gained percentage points in the polls of late. those are all considered republican outsiders.

insiders seem to be struggling now. what you'll see tonight in a lot of gop insiders think, they hope this is what happened, those candidates, chris christie, jeb bush, take a stand, change their tone. interesting to see how that plays out. christie complained he fell like he couldn't get a word in edge wise. could he be in next candidate to drop out if he doesn't make a splash? >> you'd have to think that he is among selveral facing that dilemma if he doesn't make headway tonight. he's got to garner momentum. more importantly the money, it's so spread out driving campaigns will be difficult. some of the strong republican backers have got to determine that chris christie is someone

the reason we've had nice weather, big area of high pressure controlling our entire weather pattern through the northeast, down through the mid-atlantic and off to the west. and this will stay in place as we go into the weekend. and all of the rain you see down to our south, that's going to stay to our south. clouds are just to the south, too. but we will be staying dry. no rain soon really. here's what's happening big area of high pressure will hang around thursday, friday. by friday it's going to slide more offshore. we stay dry, sunny, winds from the south. we start off the humidity will increase. you'll notice it and cold front approaches saturday into sun. move through, mostly dry. more clouds around, though. but it will do for us give us a cooler, breezy wind in time for eagles. it will feel more like football weather. eagles forecast for sunday against the cowboys. nice conditions for tailgating.
