catholic school. >> reporter: he will do that at our lady school in east harlem. they practiced hymns that they will recite for the pope later today. and he will finish with a mass at madison square garden. the iconic arena seats about 19,000 but surely there will be people spilling out on to the sidewalk and street. this will be his final stop in new york. he then makes his trip to philadelphia, the final stop on his tour. >> some just want a little glimpse of the pope while he's here. mayor de blasio has been calling the pope's visit the biggest

in a lifetime. let's take you to seattle now p. yesterday, a deadly collision between a charter bus and a popular tourist ride known as duck boats. nbc's morgan reports. >> reporter: just before noon, a chart tour bus filled with students collided with the popular duck vehicle crowd would tourists. they rushed to reach the horrific scene. a triage was set up to rescue the trap and treat the injured. at least 50 people were evaluated. it shattering windows, ripping off panels and reducing it to a twisted chunk of metal. >> at full speed hit the side of the bus and people in the bus flew through the front of the wind shield. sfwlrks t >> reporter: the company

expressed condolences but says the cause is not known. many people international students getting ready to start the school year. >> we've had a terrible tragedy and there's been a terrible loss of life and injuries. our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone. >> reporter: the boat is designed to travel on the roads as well as water so the hull is actually stronger than most buses but without seatbelts and this isn't the first time this happened. a duck boat accident in philadelphia sent people into the water. over the next few days, president obama will be meeting with the leaders of superpower rivals, china and russia. the president of china will be welcomed at the white house this morning, then on monday, president obama is scheduled to meet russian president vladimir putin that general assembly in

new york. >> reporter: let's start with china because he's got a pretty full agenda starting with this morning. meetings with president obama and president of china. and not everyone thinks we should be rolling out the red carpet with china. their record of human rights abuses and more recently suspected of hack nothing to state department computers. they are often discussed behind closed doors. we're expecting a joint news conference later today. president g is just coming back from the west coast meeting with business leaders there. they're hoping to open their doors and expand trade between the two countries. however, there are still areas where the united states and the china disagree. the other big thing is the environment. they're expected today to

announce a more formal agreement to curb emissions between the two countries . and russia, at the u.n. meets with vladimir putin. slo putin asked for this meeting. donald trump seems to have a new feud brewing, this time with fellow candidate, marco rubio. on the morning joe, he made a comment about him being sweaty. >> i'm looking at people with marco rubio who has the worst voting record in the senate and he sweats more than any young person i've seen in my life. i've never seen a guy down water like he downs water. >> well, later in the day, rubio sat down with an interview with kentucky sports radio and at one

point called trump a very touchy and instecure guy. and trump, just watched marco rubio on television just another all talk no action guy. this isn't the first time they've gotten into an extended back and forth but seems like nothing new from the donald. he will meet with fox news chairman and they'll discuss their differences of opinion regarding trump's presidential run. and host chuck tod will have an exclusive with hillary clinton and meet with the only other woman running for the white house, that's carly fiorina. and you don't want to miss this, weather coming the weekend. overnight, we had a tornado that moved through areas near jones island right around midnight, there's been damage to

city where he's been greeting the faithful. he has an historic day ahead. >> then of course it's on to philadelphia after months of anticipation and planning the city will welcome the pope tomorrow morning. new road restrictions and closures take effect this morning and tonight as the city tightens security to a historic level. >> it looks like the weather will cooperate for the pope's visit. cooler and breezy starting today but it may stay dry through the weekend. it's 64 degrees, just about 4:30. good morning. this is "nbc 10 news today."

>> we're always eager to see the weekend forecast. seems like this weekend for some reason more people than ever are checking to see if it may rain in philadelphia. let's hope not. let's get to sheena parveen in with early morning duty. >> we're talking about comfortable temperatures for the morning hours. we're sitting on the cool side and notice some changes into the weekend. we are mostly in the mid-60s around philadelphia, upper 50s north and west, mid-50s for allentown so cool if you wake up in allentown at 56, 63 in millville. as we go through the day more clouds moving in. new jersey and delaware by 8:00 should be around the mid-60s. by noon 73. philadelphia area, temperatures by 8:00 a.m., mid-60s, noon low 70s with more clouds. areas north and west we're looking at around 57 degrees by 8:00 and by noon near 70

degrees. of course the weekend forecast very important for the papal visit and we are looking at changes as well. i'll show you those coming up. >> 29 hours pope francis is scheduled to land in philadelphia. that of course means more road closures today and traffic boxes that go into effect. the secure vehicle perimeter is officially in place now, and beginning at 6:00 p.m. no vehicles will be allowed to enter that perimeter. vehicles inside the box can travel and can leave but cannot re-enter until monday. if you plan to take the train into town be aware several septa stations are closed including suburban station, the fifth and 15th street stops on the market frankford line, and the 50 street trolley stop. if you take the vine street expressway, several exits will remain closed throughout the weekend. >> let's get you details now. jessica boyington has more on
