11:32 pm
for the broncos tonight, but this pistol formation sure has made peyton manning look more comfortable to me. >> al: a little action for those of you who have joined us a little late. manning's numbers are part of the best outing for him this season. stafford has had his moments. he had that pass to thomas at the end of the first half on a fourth and one and then the bruton interception, gigantic here. and denver is trying to make it a two-possession lead. detroit can hold them to a field goal, it's an eight-point game, a one-possession game. they'd have a ton of time. but first things first. they're down to one time-out. the clock will stop at the two-minute warning. it's second down and eight.

11:35 pm
to do on that play. >> al: and mcmanus now for the extra point. so with 2:28 left and only the two-minute warning to stop the clock for detroit, it's 24-12. >> cris: peyton is going to redirect his offensive line. he's going to tell them all to go that way. he's going to leave that guy unblocked. he's going to come so what is peyton going to do? he's going to move that way and hit the route down here in the corner. understood exactly what was coming for him. just moved away from it and hit the winning touchdown pass. i don't know how you put that in statistics. you don't. but that's why peyton manning wins so many games. >> al: owen daniels, of course, coaches love to bring guys who know their systems. and with kubiak as the head coach at houston, daniels spent so many years there. daniels was in baltimore last year so he just keeps following

11:56 pm
>> well, it was definitely better, bob. i guess you have to knit pick a little bit when you're as close to peyton as i am. threw over 300 yards, hit 75% of his passes, so there were a lot of good things. but demaryius thomas talked about them squatting all night. he said the diefensive backs wee playing them tight. they only played three deep balls so i think they have to get more deep passing in the offense. peyton has to get better at that if they continue to win. >> it's 3-0 for the broncos, all three wins close. can they keep going like this? the schedule is pretty favorable, minnesota, oakland and then cleveland. >> well, they have got a great defense and they're going to ride that and rely on that, but i think they're going to have to have something happen for them to continue to win. they have either got to start running the ball better or they have to hit some deep throws. they're not going to be able to be one-dimensional and rely on just medium passing game. so maybe it's the offensive line that's got to come around, but

there's a potential connection between the reductions in recent years in off-season practice time, preseason practice time and offensive lines being behind defenses in the first quarter of the season. this year with that rash of injuries, we could see the nfl start taking a closer look at increasing practice times in the off-season and in the preseason. >> interesting point. thanks, mike. again, the final here in detroit, the broncos 24, the lions 12. al and cris back to wrap things up, after this. hey, what are you doing? i got 17 months until i can upgrade to the new iphone 6s. i'm building a time machine so i don't have to wait. with sprint, i never have to wait. i get to upgrade to the newest iphone right away, whenever it comes out. seriously? seriously! i've got to switch to sprint.
