caught on video. a woman accused of stealing more than $1,000 and bringing a child along for the crime. >> first, police want to find the group of men they say beat transgender woman and shot her dead. >> this happened in the city's hunting park section early this morning. nbc 10 drew smith went to the neighborhood tonight and spoke with lgbt advocates shaken by this violence. >> condolences have pouring in online after the death of 22-year-old jenkins who was beaten and shot twice in the back.

detectives are still not clear why a group of five or six men targeted her. >> we don't know if it was hate crime, a robbery. we don't know. >> reporter: police say jenkins was out at 2:30 a.m. when car dropped her off. within minutes the group attacked her. investigators want to hear from any witnesses especially the person in the car with her. there is large park which surrounds this area. it is dark. police are hoping to find surveillance cameras. >> you see how dark it is. you can't see nothing this time of the night. >> reporter: the fact this happened in the middle of the street is distressing. this is the second transgender woman murdered in the city this year. >> it's tragic loss for the city of philadelphia, the lgbt community and this individual's family and loved ones. >> reporter: police spoke with her family today. >> obviously, they're very sad. >> our heartbreaks for them. i have a lot of faith in our police department. i'm glad that they are doing such a thoughtful and thorough

job. >> reporter: there will be mr. eyes on this case. an investigation under way to find o woman who robbed a store in broad daylight. >> she made off with $1600 in cash. the biggest shock of all is who was with the suspect. >> reporter: a woman with a young girl went into the furniture store. >> i think it's a real disgrace any parents out there. >> reporter: surveillance video shows the woman leading the girl into the back office of the store sunday afternoon. >> i guess she walked over this way and walked where we have it blocked off. >> reporter: it appears the woman uses the girl who was about five years old as a lookout while she goes into the office and helps herself to the ordinary reason's hand bag.

>> she had the child outside to keep eyes on me to make sure no one coming in. >> reporter: this all happened while video cameras captured her every move. the store has 16 surveillance cameras opinion that did not stop the suspect from stealing the owner's purse. >> we seen it on the camera like she kept looking back and like running a little bit like in a big rush to go. >> reporter: the owner says she can replace the stolen times but concerned for the little girl who appeared to be scared as the woman she was with took her from the store after taking what wasn't hers. >> it's the child involved. that gets me, made me sick to my stomach with that. teenagers in custody after an argument prompted a gun scare but police still can't find the gun. they say a 17-year-old threatened a student with a gun and ran into campus building this morning. police say the two have a

history. the college was put on lockdown and a lot of students and faculty were told to stay in their classroom and stay quiet. those who could get out of buildings did. >> one of the other instructors came in and asked me to keep my students in. i had my students in for about an hour. then we saw people walking our floors. the students left and i left. >> a student who was given the all clear was able to record there video of the suspect being led away by police. police say today's scare had nothing to do with an fbi warning this week about an online threat against area colleges and universities. new information tonight on a crash involving a car and a septa trolley bus. we first brought you this story last flight at 11:00. police have identified jamar sturgis as the driver who died. it happened last night.

the car had been speeding. the car's passenger remains in critical condition. 19 people on board the bus were treated at the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. things are moving again tonight along interstate 95 in newark, delaware. a tour bus crashed after it collided with car. five people were taken to the hospital to be checked out. the montgomery county woman has admitted injecting her own teenage daughter with heroin. prosecutors say she injected her daughter several times during trims to philadelphia. the girl was 15. she will be sentenced in december. she faces up to 27 years in prison. her friend has already pleaded guilty to identical charges. tomorrow the coast guard is set to resume its search for the american cargo ship that disappeared during hurricane joaquin.

hundreds gathered at the main maritime academy in hopes that crew members will be found alive. four of the missing mariners went to the school. one person has been found dead. 32 others are still missing. a breach threatens to cut off the main intake value involve for the water system. the city will likely have less than day's supply of water if it can't be fixed. more than half a dozen are in danger of giving way. that's not the only problem people in the area are dealing with tonight. there's been dozens of rescues. the 911 system has been enundated with hundreds of calls. >> we are resilient people, a

philadelphia's famous jeweler's row. they're accused of kidnapping a woman from parking garage in april and then beating and torturing her. they wanted the code to the safe at the jewelry store where she worked. a third suspect who pleaded guilty is due for sentencing next month. testing will continue tomorrow for dozens of health care workers in mercer county. 16 employees received flu shots from a nurse who used the same syringe over and over. now being tested for hepatitis and hiv. new jersey's department of health says the nurse may have used less than the recommended dose of the flu vaccine. they are recommending a new shot for everyone. turning now to pennsylvania's budget battle. governor tom wolf has unveiled a proposal to end the impasse ahead of tomorrow's vote. the governor says he's pursuing a half point increase in the state to personal income tax and a new extraction tax on natural gas drilling. governor wolf says the new money

pr legal troubles for bill cosby tonight. a model has filed a lawsuit against him. the suit is being filed under a provision that allows victims of underage sexual abuse to sue for several years after they turn 18. she turned 18 in may of 2008. the lawsuit includes a list of 40 women who made sexual misconduct claims against cosby. the comedian's lawyers has denied accusations. 27 of the accusers have come together for an exclusive group interview with kate snow. they'll appear in a special airing at 9:00 on dateline. you can watch it here on nbc 10. a middle schoolteacher is in salem county jail tonight. the 44-year-old is accused of

sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 5 back in june. it happened while the victims parents were in another room. neighbors were shocked to hear of the arrest. >> i'd be in jail because i'd kill him. i really would kill him to touch any child of mine, i would kill him. i'd be in jail too. >> he's been suspended from his job as a fifth grade social studies teacher at salem middle school pending further investigation. a north jersey priest pleaded not guilty to pointing a civil war musket at a young boy as part of a football rivalry. he said the incident was a joke. he and the 8-year-old war talking football before it happened last month at a church. the reverend is a giant's fan. the boy roots for the cowboys. the two teams played each other that night. making a different name for herself with a new generation. to the monica lewinsky spoke at

to testify. he's accused of slamming the woman to the ground. temperatures today warmed above normal for this time of year. that would be around 70 degrees. that's the average high today. we got to 75 and tomorrow we'll be similar to today. some areas could be a few degrees warmer. next rain chance comes as we end out the week. as we head into friday this week not for a few days make sure you have the umbrella. that's going to end up giving us much cooler temperatures as we go into the weekend. football weather comes sunday. we're right around 50 degrees north and west. mid-60s philadelphia. some areas in south jersey already in the mid-50s. 55 for millville and atlantic city. as your day shapes up tomorrow you'll notice the morning clouds. those will start to clear out.

we'll see more sunshine developing again but around 8:00 a.m. temperatures around 60 degrees for the philadelphia area. mid-60s by 10:00 a.m. 70 degrees by noon. we'll see a pretty nice day tomorrow. we'll be staying dry. all the clouds you see around now, no rain with any of these. as you wake up tomorrow morning and notice the clouds we won't be seeing any rain with those either. no rain heading this way but we have more clouds to get through through the overnight hours. that will keep temperatures cool overnight but not as cool as last night. cold front moves through as we go into thursday. that's going to give us a cooler thursday around 70 degrees. cooler than what we'll be tomorrow. then you see the next cold front approaching. this is friday morning. for the morning hours we should be mostly dry. we could see a couple of showers. through the afternoon is when we have the better chance of showers. some could be locally heavy. that will be later in the day on friday.

we'll see temperatures drop into the weekend. tonight lows will be in the 50s. this will mostly be hitting around sunrise tomorrow. 52, allentown and redding. 56 in dover. tomorrow we'll see temperatures similar to today. another really nice day. clouds moving over to some more sunshine in the afternoon. 75 for the high. 76 for northtown. 77 for the high in chester, philadelphia, mount holly. 78 in wilmington. it will be a nice afternoon even to the shore with low humidity still. 78 degrees in dover. water temperature a chilly 63 degrees right now. fur thursday you see we cool down with the cool front i showed you. it's going to be a dry cold front. highs around 70. going into friday that's when we have more rain moving in. 77 for the high temperature. we go into the weekend. take a look at the temperature drop. saturday morning i think we could have showers lingering.

we'll update that as we go through the week. do cooler and windy. 67 on sunday. that's football weather. sunny sky, nice and dry for the eagles. then we warm back up into the mid-70s. >> like those 70s. thank you. a big step forward tonight for the developer of a casino. the philadelphia planning commission today approved a mast ere pl er plan it would include a las vegas style casino floor with 2,000 slot machines and more than 125 table games. there will be a hotel and stra. stockton university will spend $26 million on the show boat casino before selling it.

>> it's nice to see her like that. we have cool temperatures as we go through the overnight hours. 58 for the low in philadelphia. low 50s areas north and west. the clouds will be around. you'll notice them in the morning hours too. some areas will be a couple of degrees warmer than today. right around 77 for the high temperature. little bit cooler as we go into thursday. right around 71 degrees so we're going to have what we call a dry cold front move through and no rain with that one. come friday we'll have another cold front move through. this one will be giving us showers. mostly in the afternoon friday. some of those could linger into the weekend but take a look at temperature saturday. 65 degrees. it's going to get cooler and windy. we'll be clearing and by sunday 67. that is football weather. sunny skies, 67 degrees for the eagles home game looks pretty good. i think a lot of people will be tailgating. the good news with the timing of the rain will get out of here in time for the weekend. >> football weather with the blankets and sweaters and
