that breaking news, a missing three-year-old boy was found dead in camden county this morning. that's according to a high-ranking police source. skyforce 10 is giving thus live picture over haddon township. you can see investigators systematically looking for evidence there. this is where someone found the child's body this morning along the cooper river. i'm chris cato. it's a heart wrenching end to a search for the little boy reported missing last night. he was last seen near holy savior school in haddontownship.

c cydney long joins us with more information. >> reporter: good morning. we got brand new investigation from investigators on the scene. i want to give you an idea of what you saw on that shot from skyforce. you can see detectives gathering here near cooper street and virginia. this is a tight-knit small community in haddon township but the details of this little boy's disappearance still unfolding, unclear if there was trauma or if it was a terrible accident. we're along cooper avenue which is crawling with police and detectives after we're told a loved one of the little boy reported him missing at 6:00 this morning. a source confirms the father is the one who reported the boy missing. the come den county prosecutor's office is the lead on this investigation and they just confirmed for me our source information that, in fact, the little boy has died. skyforce 10 over cooper river park just an hour ago as the

details began to unfold. what we know for sure is that the little boy was reported missing again this morning at 6:00 from the 100 block of cooper avenue where we are here. that location at cooper river park is more than a mile away. local police called camden metro to assist with their canine units. that's when i'm told the dogs picked up the little boy's scent, the canine unit tracked him to the wooded area along south park drive at the cooper river, had don township side of the cooper river. this unfolding as local residents saw a post about the missing little boy on their facebook page this morning. we spoke with one local mom, megan shaw, who told me she went outside of her home, she left her children with another loved one but she went out into this community looking for this little boy and she made it all the way to cooper river park and that's when she saw some crime type because her heart is broken over all of this. her and other mothers as many residents are standing on the sidewalk here this morning

completely heartbroken over this news here this morning and wanting more answers. investigators tell me the little boy was found shortly before 9:00 a.m. and they have yet to release his name. that's because they are working still to make sure that all next of kin are notified. we're also told by the camden county prosecutor's office that an autopsy will be conducted today. when i asked them if there was any foul play or trauma to the body, they simply weren't ready to answer that question for us. so of course we'll have more information for you as soon as we have it, live in had ddon township, cydney long, nbc 10 news. skyforce 10 was over a house fire in delaware county this started at a home on garden lane in aston just after 6:00 a.m. no one was injured but the family lost everything. the red cross is helping them. a 14-year-old boy is still in critical condition after someone shot him in the head last night. officers found boy in front of the housing authority police

building on 10th street. the nearest surveillance camera is outside of the philadelphia housing authority apartment building. police believe the shooter may have come out of that building. they're looking at the video for clues. we take a live look now from high above center city and we see the clouds have moved in. this was a sunny view about an hour ago but now we're tracking showers moving this way and that will also bring a change in temperature, too. first alert meteorologist bill henley is here with the forecast. bill? today is a day of change. we started with sunshine. some areas seeing sunshine along the coastline and in southern delaware but philadelphia the clouds are moving in from the west and they are bringing some rain. showers moving through allentown, berks county into lancaster county and delaware county, newcastle county in delaware and into south jersey's cumberland county, salem county seeing clouds and showers. just light showers moving

through chester county and into the reading and allentown area. it's steadier into the pocono mountains. it won't be an all day rainfall. it's keeping temp churs cooler north and west. 50s for allentown, reading and lancaster, while it's in the upper 60s and low 70s in south jersey. keep an eye on the sky. some showers will be around as the clouds roll through. we'll get breaks in the clouds during the afternoon. there's still a chance of spotty showers during the late afternoon and early evening hours. things begin to change during the later evening hours. we'll go through the futurecast hour by hour when i come back later this half hour. chris? >> also this morning a father is dead after masked men broke into his home terrorized his family and shot him in the head. new this morning, video of the car a police believe the robbers crashed after speeding away from the crime scene. now, the home invasion happened late last night in philadelphia. three young children were inside the home when this was happening. the robber shot their father, he

died at the hospital this morning. nbc 10's matt delucia has more. >> reporter: the manhunt continue this is morning. homicide detectives are trying to figure out who would commit this brutal crime and kill the father of three young children. >> it's just a really loud boom. it was just a really loud boom. >> reporter: this was the scene at 51st and locust, about a mile away from where police say three boys about 17 years old walked through an unlocked door at this home on the 1,100 block of south ruby street. philadelphia police say it happened just after 11:00 last night. the boys tied up a 27-year-old woman and demanded money. when she had none to offer, police say the woman heard gunshots in the living room. a 50-year-old man was shot fly times in the head. he later died at the hospital. three young children, a 10-month-old, two-year-old, and five-year-old were also inside the house. back to this scene, a crash believed to be connected to the home invasion. the possible getaway car crashed into a parked car at 51st and

locust and overturned a neighbor who did not want to be identified describes what happened. >> i thought somebody was dead but it was -- like i said, i don't know how anybody got out of there. they got out after that, i don't know how they did it. >> reporter: police found no suspects but did find a bloody gun at the scene. neighbors can't understand the violence. now, the mother and three kids were not physically injured in this home invasion. police are asking if you have any information that can help them, give them a call right away. at police headquarters, i'm matt delucia, naebs 10 nebc 10 news. a family's search for justice. they want to find the driver who ran over their loved one and kept going. neighbors say he was riding his bicycle on shaw street last month when a car hit him from behind in millville. he slipped into a coma and died from his injuries last week. we talked to a witness who was driving her car at the time he was run over. >> i saw in my rear-view mirror him fly.

and then i -- when i was there i saw the bike. it was bent in half. >> police say the hit-and-run driver left some evidence behind, a side view mirror and a headlight. the victim's family is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. we have new information on a dog attack in ocean county that left a three-year-old boy with serious injuries to his face. skyforce 10 was over the scene in tom's river as that toddler was airlifted to cooper medical center in camden. police now tell us the boy was playing with the dog in the family's kitchen when he was attacked. both parents were at home at the time. animal control officers took the dog into custody for evaluation and observation. authorities say the dog is not a pit bull, though they are not saying what breed of dog it is at this time. happening today, mourners will attend a viewing for former naacp leader and community activist jerry mondesire.

he died suddenly of a brain aneurysm six days shy of his 66th birthday. his viewing is 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at bright hope baptist church in philadelphia. a celebration of life ceremony is scheduled for tomorrow. the burial service is private. today temple university's board of trustees will vote on bill cosby's replacement on that board. the comedian resigned last year as a sexual assault controversy surrounded him. today the board will vote on the nomination of tamron hall, co-host of nbc's the "today" show. they called the 1992 temple grad's nomination "a home run." if selected, hall will be the fourth woman appointed to the board. now, right before the board of trustees meets at temple, students and campus workers are expected to rally at the bell tower to demand a minimum wage increase. student workers, nurses, food service workers and adjunct professors want the minimum pay at temple raised to $15 an hour. organizers say students have been requesting a meeting with

he was reported missing. it's still not clear how he died, how he went from one place to another, stay with nbc 10 news for updates and you can check on the nbc 10 app, too, throughout the day. investigators now say malaysia airlines flight 17 was destroyed by a russian-made surface-to-air missile. that's according to the dutch safety board's findings. investigators said the missile exploded less than a yard from the plane's cockpit over eastern ukraine last july. the jet broke up in midair and then crashed, killing all 298 people on board. earlier today, though, the russian company that makes the missile presented its own report saying the damage to the jet was caused by a different kind of warhead. the dutch safety board said the plane should have never been flying over that airspace anyway given the ongoing military conflict between pro-russian rebels and ukrainian forces. ukraine and its western allies have long alleged rebels shot

down that plane with a russian-made weapon. a relative of one victim said it was "as quiet as a mouse" when investigators told the families of the victims about their findings. authorities in kansas city have identified two firefighters killed last night when a wall collapsed on them a burning apartment building. the two just rescued at least two people from this fire and that fire reignited and continues to burn. the fire chief says two other firefighters were injured. he praised the heroic actions of his firefighters. >> i'm extremely proud of the professionalism of on scene personnel as well as the response to the tragedy and in these times what helps us get through these times is how professional the department responded. >> investigators are still trying to figure out exactly how that fire started.

listen to this one. a two-year-old boy in south carolina accidentally shot his grandmother in the back. police say the woman's sister left a 357 resolver -- that's a big gun -- tucked dehind the backseat of the car. the toddler got ahold of that gun and shot his grandmother right in the back. the 40-year-old grandmother is recovering from her injuries. she is expected to live. the woman's sister says she's shocked. >> we thought he was playing. guns kill. what happened was serious. my sister could have died. >> talking to a reporter by phone there. investigators are trying to figure out whether the child was restrained in a car seat and if they will file any charges in this case. clouds moving through the area, i'm tracking some showers that are going to stay light and won't be here all day. behind the showers, temperatures turn cooler, starting tomorrow. but the big chill arrive this is

a new study shows there are racial imbalances across all types and stages of breast cancer. researchers looked at diagnosis and treatment data for more than 100,000 breast cancer patients. they found that african-americans tended to have larger and more aggressive tumors and were up to 70% more likely to be diagnosed as stage four for all types of breast cancer than white women.

scene. once police were notified of the missing toddler, local police called camden metro to assist with the investigation, specifically their canine unit. that's when i'm told dogs picked up the little boy's scent. the dogs tracked him to the wooded area on south park drive and that's an area that runs along cooper river on the haddon township side. all of this unfolding, chris, as i mentioned as local residents awoke to news on their facebook about this little boy who was missing. one mother we spoke to a short time ago, megan shaw, told us what she did as soon as she saw that post you actually went out of your home looking for this little boy? >> yes, i did. because i have two small children at home so i just thought that i needed to go look, check backyards as i was walking and things like that. it's just so sad. >> reporter: you made it to the park and that's when you saw the crime scene tape? >> i saw the crime scene tape. you couldn't get further than that. i was standing there talking to

two women and we just -- you know, and then a lot of people in black vehicles pulled up. >> reporter: and that's still the case in this community, chris. investigators told me the little boy was found dead shortly before 9:00 so the three-hour span between 6:00 and 9:00 a.m. is when they were looking for him. they have yet to confirm or release his name as they're working to notify all loved ones. they wouldn't say what he was wearing, they wouldn't tell me if he was in his pajamas, who was caring for him or if there was forced entry in the home. those are questions we'll be asked throughout the day today. we're told an yaups will be conducted to determine the cause and manner of death but certainly unclear if this was an accident or if some crime occurred. this tight-knit community, chris, obviously all heartbroken and devastated over this and we will continue to follow this story throughout the day today. we're live in haddon township, chris, back to you. >> that's a tough one. cydney long reporting from

haddon township. another story we're following, masked robbers shot a philadelphia man inside his home in front of his wife and children and now we're seeing video of the car that authorities believe the robbers used to get away. the home invasion hate last night in philadelphia's king sussing neighborhood. three young children were inside the home. the robbers shot their father. he died at the hospital this morning. matt delucia has more. >> reporter: homicide investigators have picked up the case, trying to find these three teenagers they believe carried out this violent attack. the 1,100 block of south ruby street was taped off, the house where this family of five was living is a crime scene. philadelphia police say three boys about 17 years old walked through an unlocked door late last night tying up a 27-year-old woman and demanded money. she said she didn't have any and then heard gunshots. a 50-year-old man was shot three times in the head and later died. three young children, all five years old or younger, were inside the house at the time.

the showdown on the strip. the las vegas strip, we're talking about. a live look now at las vegas, nevada. in about nine hours, the 2016 democratic presidential candidates will take to the stage for their first debate. and tonight hillary clinton's main objective is to avoid mistakes that could dominate the headlines tomorrow. her biggest rival, vermont senator bernie sanders, may be surging in the polls but he's never faced as high-profile an event as the one taking place tonight. nbc's andrea mitchell reports. >> reporter: the firebrand democratic socialist is getting used to the huge crowds. but this is a whole new stage. their preparation as s as different as the candidates' styles. hillary clinton had her washington superlawyer playing bernie sanders in mock debates. sanders has stuck to briefing. now how will surging sanders take on the democratic front-runner? >> are there differences of opinions that should be discussed? of course.

come closer to him. meantime, jeb bush is taking some shot this is morning at the affordable care act. this comes during bush's speech at st. anselm college in manchester, new hampshire. bush says the current health care system "simply isn't working" and he's working to repeal so-called obamacare. he says obamacare hasn't lived up to promises made by the president and only a certain group of people benefit from it. >> one thing i know is this. we can't stick with the status quo. we can't leave this up to the lobbyist and the politicians in washington, d.c. because the system we have today, obamacare and its most current form, was written by special interests for special interests. >> and he said more and more people continue to drop out of the affordable care act plan because of its premiums. tracy morgan is back doing standup comedy. last night he did his first set since that crash on the new jersey turnpike that that almost killed him. look at this photo from morgan's

workers. believe it or not, we're weeks away from the holiday season -- i know. we're counting it down but a new study is spelling trouble for your holiday shopping. more than three in five americans are limiting their spending every month. that's a cording to a study released by bankrate.com. it found the main reasons americans are limiting their spending is stagnant income followed by the need to save more. millennials will more than twice as likely as other age groups to say they're limiting their spending because they need to save. check twice before you make that hotel reservation. a recent survey conducted for the american hotel and lodging association found 6% of travelers who booked a room online were scammed by a fake web site. 6% is pretty high. based on that survey, the group estimates 550 milli 50 million bookings were made last year with more than a billion dollars going into the pockets of the scam artists.

these clouds we're seeing rain now in philadelphia. good news is the temperatures have warmed up in spite of the clouds moving in. it's farther north and west where the rain has moved in. a little ahead of schedule compared to philadelphia. it has readings in the 50s and low 60s. there's the steadier rainfall from philadelphia north and west into the allentown area and into the pocono mountains. that steady rainfall will not last all day. and the clouds won't be with us all day. but the chance of showers will be with us into the late afternoon and evening hours. the futurecast shows at 4:00 a chance of scattered mainly light showers maybe a brief moderate down downpour. then a chance of showers finally reaching into the shore. then the wind kicks in. look at the wind gusts. that's at 7:00. 24 mile an hour wind gusts will go stronger later in the evening. that's the beginning of the colder their will come in and you'll feel the difference
