president. today -- >> i've concluded it has closed. >> yeah, he was going to run. >> i thought for sure there's no doubt. >> christopher owns a cheese shop in new castle county like so many others, he thought joe biden was getting in the race. pennsylvania congressman brendan boil practically broke the internet a couple of days ago when he tweeted biden would run. today he tweeted, yes, he was wrong. dealing with a loss of his son beau to brain cancer is job one. his family has a long way to go. >> i know from previous experience, that there is no timetable for this process. doesn't care much about filing deadlines and debates in primaries and caucuses. >> from north wilmington to sussex county, we have reaction to biden's decision. >> disappointed he's not going to enter. >> many wanted him to jump into the race and not just because he's from their state.

and whether these people support his views, many think if he made the decision based on his family, he made the right decision. >> it's too soon. beau was a very nice guy. and they were very close-knit family. and it's too soon. >> reporter: let me tell you something. my ipad has been on fire receiving all the statements about joe biden today. three members of the delaware congressional delegation put out statements supporting his decision, the governor did the same. and some people in the state are happy habit this decision. hillary clinton supporters, and some republicans in the state. i also found lots of delawareans curious to see what he does next. is he going to retire to greenville, delaware? some think he might lead the fight against cancer and make that his mission for the rest of his life in retirement. either way, it's going to be interesting. but still, of course, has work to do in washington. live in middletown, new castle county, tim furlong, nbc 10 news. >> all right. and more reaction this evening. biden's decision not to launch the presidential campaign is giving some relief to the current slate of candidates.

hillary clinton tweeted, @vp is a good friend and good man. inspired by his optimism and commitment to change the world for the better. and donald trump seems happy biden's out of the picture. he tweeted, i think joe biden made the decision to run for him and his family. the tweet went on to say, personally, i would rather run against hillary because her record is so bad. other news now, pennsylvania's attorney general will lose her law license at midnight tonight. kathleen kane says she can still 98% of her job without it. that's what she told her staff this afternoon in a discussion about her suspension. her name will still appear on court documents, but she will not be able to sign certain legal papers. kane will continue to earn her $158,000 salary and keep her health benefits. the state supreme court voted to temporarily and indefinitely suspend her license. the court gave her until today to wrap up her work as a practicing lawyer. kane is accused of leaking secret grand jury information to a reporter.

at the 69th street terminal after the eagles/giants game. investigators want the victim and the attacker to come forward. they say there are two sides to every story. you can watch the cell phone video police are analyzing on nbc 10.com. congressman fattah's son insists he's winning his case as he continues to represent himself in federal court. the 32-year-old is accused of misusing money from business loans to live a lavish lifestyle. he's also accused of not paying his taxes. prosecutors presented witnesses who say they were scammed by fattah jr., including one man who says he paid fattah jr. $10,000 to obtain a credit card. he told the jury he was in high school at the time. he says he never reported it to the bank because he felt the congressman's son would be more believable. >> they can't beat this person who sits on the couch watching law and order. i'm a big fan of them making a lot of money. but i would only know that if i

was a businessman. >> fattah jr. presented letters from a client who gave his work high marks and says that evidence proves he's a successful businessman. 17 offenders were arrested in an overnight family violence raid in montgomery county. sheriff deputies made arrest for violent felonies, domestic violence charges and not paying child support. it's all part of the 13th annual family violence apprehension detail. 250 law enforcement agencies in 26 states. the goal is to raise awareness about child abuse and stalking. gun violence on the minds of those who marched here today in philadelphia. recent shootings at colleges across the country and the recent threat against local universities prompted these marches to rally at the community college of philadelphia. the school had a gun scare just two weeks ago. they marched to a local gun range that supplied to gun shops.

they say selling guns near schools is a recipe for more violence. police in new jersey looking for the white supremacist dad who dresses in nazi uniforms and named one of his children adolf hitler. heath campbell is wanted for aggravated assault after a domestic incident on sunday night. campbell made national headlines 7 years ago when he asked a supermarket to make a cake for his son with the title "happy birthday, hitler." asking anyone who knows where campbell might be to give them a call. philadelphia's archbishop believes it's sad when families only have two children. archbishop said as much in an interview with a french catholic magazine. he says, quote, it's sad to see so many couples cheat themselves out of more love and more joy by only having two children. he goes on to say, he wishes we had more large families because they're the quote, hope of the church. probably the biggest factor keeping families from having

more children is the cost of raising them. according to data from the u.s. agriculture department, it costs more than $245,000 for a middle income family raise one child born in 2013 from birth until age 18. and that doesn't factor in the expense of sending the child, perhaps, to private school. according to the national catholic educational association, the average catholic elementary school costs around $3,300 compared to $8,700 for high school. when questioned about the high cost of raising children, the archbishop says god will provide for families to raise multiple children. camden's baseball team is leaving town. the river sharks announced today they're ending operations immediately. it's because they couldn't reach an agreement on lease terms with the owner of campbell's field. the river sharks played in camden for 15 seasons as an independent minor league team. officials say they did everything they could to keep affordable, family entertainment

district, they get about 40% of their revenue from the state. and they are on the verge of having to borrow money to get b by. but in philadelphia, they have reached that point, they are past it and are worried they won't be able to borrow any more. philadelphia schools are still open for the business of learning. but it's day 113 without a state budget. leaving the district to question whether it's allowed to shut down. have you figured that out at this point? >> no. so we're still analyzing everything from harrisburg. >> superintendent william hiatt tells me they are looking at options. >> we don't know, i mean, what exists in terms of our ability to close or not, if, in fact, we have to. naturally, it is hour wish to remain open, for children to be educated. >> but, that takes money, something philadelphia schools are borrowing to stay open. >> they need about $10 million per day. so even if they got $100 million

in borrowings, that would keep the schools open about ten days, and so, it's critically important that the state come up with the budget. >> philadelphia schools have already borrowed $275 million. they're now in talks with lenders to see if they can get more. >> once we know what our borrowing capacity is, then it will give us an indication of how long we can keep the doors open. >> so, is there any progress in harrisburg? well, no sign of a deal yet. the governor's office tells me while staff on both sides have met, the governor himself has not had any recent meetings with legislators and none are planned. nbc 10 news. just days after the faa said it will require drone owners to register their aircraft, a jersey shore community is taking steps to keep them grounded. ocean city council members are set to hold a preliminary vote tomorrow on a proposed ban on remote control drones flying within 5 miles of the resort's

airport. officials say the move was prompted by public safety concerns involving drones coming too close to planes along with invasion of privacy issues. if approved, violators would face fines and even possible jail time. >> now, your nbc 10 first alert weather with chief meteorologist glenn hurricane schwartz. >> another spectacular-looking day out there. temperatures way above average, more like early september than the end of october. we're dry for the 12th day in a row, at least measurable rain in philadelphia. so we need symptom rain, we may get some weekend showers, not a whole lot of rain, and some of it might occur while some of you are sleeping. even if it rains, probably not going to ruin your weekend. 70 degrees right now. so it's dropped from the high of 76. it's still warmer than it was at this time yesterday. remember, back on monday, it was 55. for the high.

71 yesterday, 76 during the day-to-day, 77 tomorrow, and then we see the drop. so right now, it's still over 70, pottstown and allentown, and in blue bell. it's dropping into the 60s in some other parts of the area as you can see, it's still 70 in trenton. and toward the shore. we've got a southwest wind here with temperatures into the 60s for the most part. we have some high clouds up near the new york state border, but that's about it, and any showers are way up to the north and not moving in this direction. and it's pretty dry over the eastern half of the country. what is happening here? we have big area of high pressure that's moved offshore, and that's why we have the southwest wind here, that's bringing in the warmer air. there's a cold front up there in southern canada, it's coming straight down, and it will put an end to this unseasonable warmth we've been seeing. so we'll be much colder on friday. but not as cold as it was sunday

and monday. and you can see, the coolest weather will be saturday morning will be about 42 in philadelphia, maybe even some upper 30s in some of this surrounding areas. and then, it'll start coming back up, again. but we're not talking about anything close to these 70s that we've been seeing. so there's the warmest air on thursday, cooler air starts coming down on friday, and the warm air is not looking like it's coming back for quite a while. 55 degrees in philadelphia for tonight, 47 north and west. not as cold as last night. and then, during the day tomorrow, maybe even warmer than today. mix of sun and clouds, might be a few more clouds in the sky, that's about it. maybe a little bit more wind, as well. but no rain expected tomorrow or friday. it's going to be considerably cooler, the coldest weather is early saturday morning. and if we're going to see any showers over the weekend, it's generally late saturday night, after midnight, towards sunday
