fans were pumping up the players for the biggest football game in school history. the owls are hoping to go 8-0 with a win over notre dame tomorrow. nbc 10's george spencer is joining us live from independence mall where espn college game day is set up for tomorrow. this is the real deal, fans across the country paying attention to temple right now. >> reporter: this is a very big deal both for the team and for the city, jim, the excitement, the anticipation will all be focused here tomorrow morning. you can see the setup is really expansive, that high tv set and then plenty of space for a large crowd, but by tomorrow night, all of the eyes will shift south to the linc where this unprecedented season faces its toughest test yet. on a walk in the middle of temple's campus this afternoon, shouts of support from the team's biggest fans. early tomorrow morning many in this crowd will head south on broad street to rally here at

espn's college game day broadcast and then further south to the linc for the day's main event tomorrow night. >> it's just been crazy around here. >> reporter: good time to be a temple owl? >> the best time. >> reporter: any nervousness about tomorrow? >> i'm a little nervous, but i think they are going to pull through. they've been working hard. >> reporter: also working hard, television crews at independence mall. tomorrow morning's college game day is a staple of the football season, highlighting the day's biggest matchup and the host city. philadelphia allowed espn to shut down market street here for their setup and nearby restaurants hope foot traffic compensates for vehicle traffic. >> not really a headache if it brings people down the street, then that's a good thing. >> reporter: for temple's loyal fan base, tomorrow is an attempt to keep the win streak alive, an all day event and even notre dame fans bravely showing their faces today in temple territory expect one of the toughest fights of the year out of the

owls. >> we saw them out in south bend a couple years ago and they gave us more than they expected then, so i'm expecting a good game now. >> tailgates start at 1:00, when the linc opens up, game's at 8:00, once temple wins 27-17, we'll come back to north philly and celebrate. >> reporter: back to these live pictures, you can see the setup really covers a full block of market street between fifth and sixth streets here, causing some congestion around the streets in this immediate area. that will continue through at least late tomorrow afternoon, but i'm told all of this setup should be mostly broken down and reopened by tomorrow night, halloween evening. live tonight in old city, i'm george spencer, nbc 10 news. >> that's nothing, george, right? we made it through the papal visit. >> reporter: absolutely. >> to put the hype of the game in perspective, ticket prices on stubhub right now range from $189 all the way up to $833. compare that to the next temple

the end of the game, so, obviously, going to need some way to keep warm. same story for halloween, trick-or-treating 56 degrees at 6:00, dropping to 51 degrees by 10:00. we'll see when we're going to be warming up, we will warm up big time in the seven-day forecast, also see if there's any rain coming in just a few minutes. >> all right, glenn. we're following a developing story in west philadelphia right now, an officer recovering after being run over by a police van along pine street. investigators say the injured officer was chasing a suspect who hit a car with a baseball bat. there's the aftermath right there. as they ran into the street, they both fell to the ground and an arriving police van ran over the officer's leg. he's in stable condition. as for the suspect he was chasing, he works for the ride sharing apps uber and lyft. lyft telling nbc 10 he will not be driving for them anymore.

have you seen this? an all-out brawl outside an allentown high school with students so out of control they were even attacking police officers. hundreds of teens stood by, some taking video like this one showing officers being punched and pushed. nbc 10's randy gylenhall outside the school with the latest on the investigation tonight, randy? >> reporter: detectives are saying this investigation's far from over thanks to that video and many others posted to social media, they are going to try to track down even more suspects, but so far five juveniles have been arrested, charged with rioting and assault as this school in allentown is grappling with this viral video that shows teenagers attacking cops. the video captures the after school brawl just as police arrive to break it up, but then the teenagers turn on the cops, throwing punches at one officer

on the ground. police say there were 200 teens watching this fight. so far five have been arrested. the melee left four allentown officers in the hospital. a student who saw the video posted online and is disgusted by the actions of some of her classmates. >> it's bad, it's really bad. it's sad that students think it's okay to act like that. >> reporter: allentown police have charged five juveniles with rioting and assault. they plan to scour social media for any other suspects. >> four of our officers were injured yesterday, and we are going to continue to investigation this until everybody that was involved has been identified. >> reporter: parents and neighbors near this school say these large scale fights are happening far too often. >> they fight with the cops, they fight with the security guards, they just show them -- they show no respect for nobody. they don't care. >> our kids have the mentality that the police are the enemy. >> reporter: but this mother who didn't want to be identified

says many students at allen high school fear the police and have had bad experiences with officers on the street. she says police need to build positive relationships with young people here. >> they don't think they are there to protect them. they think they are against them, and that's why, in my opinion, it got so out of control. >> reporter: the school district did release a statement to us saying they will not tolerate this kind of behavior among students. meantime, local officials, including the mayor here in allentown have said these four officers showed great restraint dealing with that 100, maybe even 200 unruly teenagers. live in allentown, nbc 10 news. >> all right, randy. bigger picture here, this is one of three incidents at lehigh valley high schools this week alo alone. in reading today, citadel high school closed early because of a fight outside the school. police reportedly used pepper spray as teens attacked officers and emmaus high school was

locked down after bullets were found on campus. they'll reopen on monday with extra police presence. a substitute bus driver in delaware will not be filling in every again after she yelled at a student. listen to this. [ indiscernible ] the school district tells nbc 10 its transportation office learned the substitute bus driver spoke to a student in a, quote, inappropriate and unprofessional manner. it went on to say "we are incredibly disappointed and have taken steps to ensure this individual will not drive for our district again." they are calling parents of kids on that school bus to talk to them about that incident. a man dressed in camouflage and wearing face paint is arrested for suspicious behavior outside a south hampton school. officers say the man was trespassing before 7:00 a.m., the park is right next to

klinger middle school. officers arrested him three hours later. take a look at this surveillance video. you can see people running after a shooting last night in pleasantville just feet from a youth football field where kids were practicing. a new jersey father watching his son's practice is recovering after being hit by gunfire there. the man was shot in the shoulder, now out of the hospital. >> gunshots like crazy. >> where at? >> literally next to the park. there's a bunch of kids outside. >> those frantic 911 calls just obtained by nbc 10 poured into the pleasantville police department right after those bullets started flying. police believe the shooting followed an argument between two people who were not involved in the football practice at all. a best man is acquitted in a wedding melee in society hill. here it is right here, he was arrested three years ago for assaulting a philadelphia police officer during this incident

inside the sheridan. the judge acquitted him yesterday, he testified in his own defense saying he never hit or kicked any officers. another wedding guest, though, pleaded guilty to simple assault and was sentenced to two years probation. that runaway military blimp is leaving the woods soon. crews plan to remove the main body of the blimp tomorrow after the other piece, the tail, was taken away yesterday. pennsylvania air national guard helicopter will lift the blimp's hull out of the woods, then military vehicles will carry the pieces to an undisclosed government facility. the billion dollar blimp broke free from its tether at a military facility in aberdeen, maryland, crashed three hours later in muncy, pennsylvania. still no word on how the blimp attacked. new at 6:00, several local hospitals are paying out millions to resolve allegations over billing irregularities for heart devices. more than 450 hospitals across the country have agreed to a

and cyclists as part of the trails that include the schuylkill river trail. speaking of walking, a survey says it is the best neighborhood in philadelphia for trick-or-treaters and in general, philly is the fifth best in the country. but make sure your kids aren't getting more than just candy when they trick-or-treat tomorrow. new jersey state police are issuing a public safety alert now. pot-laced candy looks like a gummy or chocolate and the marijuana content could actually be as high as 90%, compared with 20% found in marijuana cigarettes. well, the weather should be perfect for trick-or-treating tomorrow and so should the parties. halloween has become as much fun for the adults as the kids. deanna durante shows you how people are getting ready in bucks and montgomery counties. >> reporter: some have big plans for their pumpkins, others are out having the last shot from the patch. >> more for the pictures. >> reporter: into the fields,

chicken nuggets. >> reporter: vendors are taking orders like crazy for parties and preparing to hand out candy tonight until 7:00. deanna durante, nbc 10 news. check out the tiniest halloween costumes in pennsylvania. babies here at the hospital of the university of pennsylvania are celebrating their very first halloween at the intensive care nursery. right now they are dressed as bumblebees, pirates, even minions. that's a cute pirate right there. glenn, dry for tomorrow, but they are going to need to layer up under their costumes? >> yeah, a lot of them do it under the costumes and maybe a couple of layers under the costumes, because it is going to be kind of chilly tomorrow night. it's going to be not as cold as it will be tonight. tonight is going to be the coldest. we'll have the specific forecast in just a minute, but we're also going to be watching for any kind of showers in southern

parts of the area for sunday or monday. beautiful clear skies out there right now. we did have a period of cloud cover earlier in the day. 58 degrees, winds 12 miles an hour, so it's already really diminishing and it's 9 degrees cooler than it was at this time yesterday. everyone's in the 50s except for mount pocono at 45 degrees. we only had a couple of places to even touch 60 degrees, and the average is 62. remember, it was 72 for the last two days, so it felt that much cooler because of that. now we have a few fair weather clouds around, this is satellite and radar. if there was rain, it would be green. there would be green around there somewhere. and there isn't any, so you don't have to worry about that tonight or tomorrow. plenty in the middle of the country, though, some of that headed in our direction, question is how close is it going to get. watch the wind diminish, go to practically calm later on during the night and the temperature, even in philadelphia, going into

the 30s overnight tonight. and that is significantly below average. and for the independence mall, if you're headed for the game day tomorrow morning, 44 degrees at 9:30, going up to about 55 degrees in the afternoon. right around noontime. so we're going to be seeing this november-like chill early in the day, even in the afternoon, even with some sunshine we're talking about mid 50s for most places. barely getting to the upper 50s in philadelphia. and then dropping back down into the 40s pretty quickly in the suburbs for the trick-or-treating, so it's going to be even cooler there as you can see by 11:00, it's in the 40s, again, not as cold tomorrow night as what we're seeing tonight. and where's any rain? sunday morning perhaps a couple of showers up to the north, but this particular computer model keeps everything to the south.

trick-or-treating is 56 at 6:00, dropping down to 51 at 11:00. and we're going to be seeing clear skies and comfortable wind at least, it's going to be a little chilly for the temple game, but at least it's not going to be windy. clear and colder tonight, 38 for the low in philadelphia, 31 north and west. tomorrow we're going to be seeing mix of sun and clouds, going to be a chilly day, highs only in the upper 50s, but won't be as windy as the last two days. we get the extra hour of sleep on sunday, a lot of clouds, but the best chance of any rain in the next seven days is monday and that will be in delaware and extreme south jersey the way it's looking right now. once that system goes by, boy does the temperature go up into the 70s for the rest of next week. hey, i'm danny pommells from comcast sportsnet. coming up, sixers getting set for the home opener while the temple owls are getting set for perhaps their biggest game in school history. that's next.
