11:00 am
right now at 11:00, a soggy tuesday, rain is falling in some areas. parts of our region got heavy rain earlier and another round is on the way. good morning, i'm vai sikahema. it will be a damp and dreary tuesday. rain will be off and on throughout the day and that won't be the end of it. nbc 10's chief meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz is here now with the soggy forecast at least for today, right, glenn? >> yes, today and tonight. tomorrow will be a different story. the roads are wet from all the rain that has been falling so even when the rain stops, the roads are still wet and that
11:01 am
will be the case throughout the day into tonight. there are areas that did get heavy rain overnight. these areas in yellow had generally over an inch and there's an area in orange there in northern delaware, parts of newcastle county near smyrna. two and a half inches of rain estimated. cape may county over an inch of rain. so we don't need a lot more. we're not getting that much at the moment except in parts of burlington, ocean counties, poconos getting a fair amount. but you can see we here in a relative lull compared to what we saw earlier this morning. now, there's more moisture coming up from the south. nothing too extreme at this point but it's just a wet, wet day. 61 degrees in philadelphia now. that's actually above the average high for this time of the year. it's only 52 in reading. the temperatures holding around the 60-degree mark. it will be breezy. it will be damp with periods of
11:02 am
rain that actually get heavier tonight. more on that timing and the rest of the week's forecast with the seven-day in a few minutes. >> thank you, glenn. the rainy weather has been making it hard to get around these days. and let's go now and check in with jessica boyington with a look at the traffic out there. jessica, how is it looking? >> vai, it's looking way better than we expected. we're on the schuylkill expressway around spring garden street where you can see the roadways are wet, that's obvious, and you can see the rain-covered lens but look at these drive times, we're doing great. we're in the green or yellow. the slowest spot is schuylkill eastbound and that's only a 16-minute trip which tipally is a 12-minute trip with no traffic on it at all so we're only until a five minute delay. go slower, that's okay. low ceilings at the philadelphia international airport so now we have 97-minute delays with the traffic management program in effect for arriving flights so be on the lookout for that if you're heading out the door.
11:03 am
and pay attention to the bus routes on delay. not weather related. bus 7, 23, 68 and g will be detoured from oregon avenue between 10th and 11th streets due to the u.s. marine corps birthday celebration until 10:00 p.m. later. vai? >> thank you, jessica. when you're on the go today, get the latest first alert forecast to your phone. download the free nbc 10 mobile app and keep track of the rain in our area. we're following breaking news. philadelphia police are searching for a gunman who walked into a corner grocery store, shot and killed a man inside that store. matt delucia is live on the scene in mant what, matt, tell us what you've learned. >> reporter: police are here talking with witnesses. someone went into that corner store here at 38th and aspen and fired one shot after another on a 22-year-old man. he was taken to presbyterian hospital and died not long after he arrived. so the questions right now are
