as paris begins its third official day of mourning today, sadness turns to terror for a crowd at a memorial there. the city of light is on edge again after firecrackers send people running for their lives. france's most wanted. right now ap international man hunt for salah abdeslam. good morning. this is "nbc 10 news today." i'm chris cato. we'll have live coverage of the terror in paris in a moment. first, the weather and after a gorgeous sunday here the work week is off to a cool start. we take a live look at boathouse row. temperatures warm into the 60s, then we're tracking some rain

for later in the week. let's begin with meteorologist bill henley and his first alert forecast. >> good morning. you feel the chill in the air. our skies are clear. once the sun is up we'll be in for a warm-up. clear view from center city. the temperature 47 degrees and falling. look at toms river at 39 degrees this morning. south philadelphia 43, 46 at northeast philadelphia airport. a quick warm-up with bright sunshine from the 40s into the 50s, by 9:00, lunch time we'll be in the 60s. i'll be back with the neighborhood by neighborhood forecast in ten minutes. jessica boyington has your monday morning first alert traffic. >> we're starting with things early. we're in bell mauer, new jersey a tractor-trailer in this area here on 295 northbound is blocking around exit 26n, all lanes are being detoured to 76, if you are heading in that direction. checked my cameras on 295 with volume this morning so far so

early not a lot of backup. and more good news. we're on the vine street expressway around 24th street. no problems or delays and all lanes open from the construction. also the rest of our drive times are great. no problems on the blue route. we'll update on the 295 when i come back in ten. chris. people across france are observing the third official day of mourning in the wake of the deadly terror attack this as french warplanes took aim on isis sites in syria. matt delucia is live in our digital operation center monitoring all of the developments from paris this morning. >> right now after tep clock in the morning in paris, people entering another day many are still on edge after the attacks from friday night. here is a live picture from paris where you can see a makeshift memorial tribute there. this is in paris, a spot where

people have been gathering to mourn for going on the third day. there is a sense of calm as you can see but take a look at what happened last night. panic on the streets of paris after the sound of a firecracker sent crowds running away from a memorial. a clear indication that folks are still in a state of fear. france's foreign minister says his country was justified in carrying out air strikes on the islamic state group in syria. france launched massive strikes on the city of raqqa, destroying a camp and munitions dump. authorities arrested seven people and hunting for more alleged members of a sleeper cell that carried out the attacks that killed 129 people. all of this while the mourning and memorials continue in the city. one muslim group came out to the vigil said true muslims do not kill as the terrorists did. >> we are not terrorists.

and in our book in koran it's writing we don't have to kill anyone. these people who kill, we don't know, this one for sure, not muslim. for sure because muslim not doing like this. >> here is that live picture again from paris. there is a memorial continuing to grow, a lot of people gathered around that square there in paris. i will be watching the developments as they happen this morning. i just saw something come across on the wires about a number of air strikes, france now reporting 150 air strikes overnight. i'm gathering more details. i'll see you again at 4:30. matt delucia, "nbc 10 news." also thank you. a number of raids overnight as well. we'll monitor the developments on that. hundreds gather to celebrate the life of the american killed in the terror attack. they held a vigil for 23-year-old nohemi gonzalez at

california state university long beach shext was a senior studying in paris. she was shot to death in a restaurant friday night. students call her a hard worker and a role model. >> we all have to feel pain and we all have to live this moment the way we need to. but always, always remember, nohemi wants us to be happy, successful and strong. just the way she was. >> gonzalez' family says they still don't have all of the details around her death. it's a wound that's going to take time to heal. >> that's brian speaking. he is now a teacher in paris and last night he skyped with us, he lived down the street from one of the restaurants that the gun men targeted. he said the people of paris aren't letting the attacks keep them coop upd in fear. he spent the weekend outside like many remembering those who lost their lives.

the wells fargo center is increasing security in the wake of those attacks. a live look now at the wells fargo center in south philadelphia where the 76ers play tonight and the flyers tomorrow. comcast says fans need extra time to get into the facility because tighter security will be in place. and that's what fans ran into yesterday at lincoln financial field. longer lines to get through the gates. because of increased security including additional police and homeland security officials. and this was part of a league-wide directive because of the attacks which as you know included a soccer stadium. the eagles held a moment of silence for the victims there. you can count on nbc 10 and the "nbc 10 news" app for continuing coverage on the terror in paris and in our next half hour jim rosenfield is in paris talking to people from this area about living through that horrifying night and living afterward. now we're following breaking

news out of philadelphia's kensington neighborhood. police shot a suspect near s street, a live look at the scene here. you see a number of investigators and evidence markers on the ground. we know that the suspect is headed to temple hospital. now police haven't told us the suspect's condition or if the suspect fired any shots at police or had a weapon. we also are not clear at this point as to why they were investigating the suspect. nbc 10's katy zachry is on the way to get more information for us. and we'll check in with her as soon as she has that additional info. 4:07. a group determined to make sure philadelphia schools get their share of funding in any new state budget will hit the road to harrisburg. education advocates will board buses later this morning and ride to the state capitol. they plan to meet with lawmakers who are negotiating a spending deal for pennsylvania.

the advocates will deliver post cards from supporters who want money set aside for schools in philadelphia especially pre-k programs. the state has gone nearly five months without a budget. local businesses looking to cash in on the 2016 democratic national convention will get valuable information tonight. the dnc committee and the philadelphia host committee holding a meeting for businesses to learn about potential vendor opportunities. dncc plans to award 35% of the contracts to diverse businesses. >> we're going to have 35 to 50,000 visitors, media, and try to have them experience as much of philly as possible in that down time so we have a full time committee focused on that. a lot of people in the business community and the restaurant community have been helping us think through ideas. >> the dnc will take place at the convention center in center city philadelphia next july. >> thrown away like trash. that's how one neighbor

described a pair of newborn babies found dead in an overgrown lot. two children found the babies in a pile of trash in the kensington section. the babies were cut open and one had a clamp attached to an umbilical cord. they say it looks like someone had performed an autopsy on the babies. we spoke to one of the children that made the discovery and his father who called police. >> that's what we seen. two babies. one had the umbilical cord on it. >> investigators have not yet determined who are the parents of the babies or who may have performed an autopsy on the bodies. they are looking for a black pickup truck spotted dumping trash near the scene. 4:09 now. so much for momentum. the eekles will try to regroup after a 1-point tlus the

horrible miami dolphins. they blew a double digit lead. miami took control with that lucky catch there. the dolphins sealed the deal when they picked off mark sanchez in the end zone. sanchez was filling in for sam bradford who left with a shoulder sprain and concussion. the birds lost 20-19. chip kelly's reaction after was predictable. >> i never met a play like that we got tipped and went that high and we lost track of where the football was. on the other play, we got an opportunity to not force in that situation, we come around the corner, we don't have the drive we're looking for, let's check it down, play the next time. >> eagles running back ryan mathews also had a concussion. the birds fall to 4-5. a half game behind the giants in the division lead, the giants lost in a thrill tear the patriots last night. the eagles host tampa bay sunday at 1:00. certainly they will beat tampa bay.

nothing but sunshine, low 60s for cape may. rehobeth will warm to 65 and in vineland and plenty of sunshine for drexel hill and wilmington, everybody will be running well above normal today. that changes tomorrow. got your futurecast when i come back. chris. >> people from this area visiting paris during the terror attacks on friday are coming home with unbelievable stories of terror and sadness. >> there were sirens going for about five hours until 3:00 in the morning. there were people pretty much like everyone was trying to get home. >> next, nbc 10 spoke with people from the area as they reunited with friends and family after surviving the terror. also next, this was no safari. no, it's traffic in west philadelphia. two zebras take a tour of city streets and a parking lot.

>>. >> 4:15. today is another day of mourning in france after the terror in paris on friday. in two days after the attacks france retaliated launching massive air strikes on the de facto capital of isis in syria. french aircraft dropped some 20 bombs on the city of rocca, destroying a jihadi training camp and munitions dumb am. that's where officials say the attacks were planned in rocca. they continue to search for more. the attacks killed 129 people including one american and injured more than 300. >> at the g-20 summit the urgency of the attacks led to these images of president obama

huddling with russian president vladamir putin yesterday. isis has claimed responsibility for the attacks as you know. and president obama and world leaders vowed to stand with the french as they hunt down the killers. >> the killing of innocent people based on a twisted ideology is an attack not just on france, not just on turkey, but it's an attack on the civilized world. >> the white house says it plans to intensify its air war against isis, urging coalition partners to do the same. >> the president's stance drew this response from republican white house candidate jeb bush on nbc's "meet the press." >> lead. that's what i want him to do, lead. we have the resources to do this. this is a threat to western civilization and we should consider it that way. >> the former florida governor joined democratic front-runner hillary clinton and others in calling for a no-fly zone over

syria. >> with isis taking responsibility, taking credit for the attacks in paris, as well as that russian plane bombing in egypt, federal aviation officials here in the u.s. are certainly on high alert. their top concern, potential security breaches from an insider. officials say the biggest threat a u.s. airline or airport employee who suddenly becomes radicalized by isis. it could be baggage handler, a cleaning crew member, basically any one with access to a plane. and while some airports do require every worker to be screened on a daily basis, it doesn't happen every day. >> insider you know the system in the airport. you know where the cameras, where the doors are, the guards at the gate and who is a good screener and who is a bad screener or who is lax and who is not. >> every airport worker in the u.s. is regularly checked against the terror watch list but when it comes to criminal background checks those are done by the airports themselves. and those are required only every two years.

>> at philadelphia international airport, more americans returned home this weekend, home from paris after the attacks. the second round of passengers returned to philadelphia yesterday. college students, couples and friends were among those on the flight. may drove up from maryland to hug her daughter. they communicated via text from a restaurant during the violence. >> they were kept inside there, i think they stayed in there for five hours. until they were ok'd to leave and i wanted to give them a special welcome home. >> and flights continued to depart from philadelphia for france, many have told us they won't threat attacks stop them from returning to paris now or in the future. >> and college students from millersville university are studying abroad in paris, ahead, they spoke with jim rosenfield about watching the soccer match where the suicide bomber set off that bomb and the terror unfolded. happening today, opening statements will get under way in

the trial against phillip chis om, the teenager accused of killing his teacher two years ago. the 16-year-old was found competent to stand trial following a psychiatric evaluation. he was 14 when investigators say he followed his teacher, strangled, raped and murdered her and left her body in a pile of leaves. the trial is expected to last until mid december. >> no snowfall in this area yet. a lot of people not mad about that. other parts of the country are dealing request snowstorms. look at this in northern california. kids are enjoying fresh powder. the new fallen snow also made for slippery conditions on the roadways there. danger owls for drivers. a few of them had to stop on the side of the highway to put chains on tires. neighbors have mixed feelings when it comes to snow at this time of year. >> i'm slipping and sliding. i needed chains. >> oddly enough a little bit

looking forward to this. my last unit was in the desert of 29 palms. we didn't have this. >> this is the third consecutive weekend northern california was hit with a snowstorm. 20 minutes after 4:00. the temperatures are falling this morning, a little bit of a chill is in the air. it's not going to last long. nice and clear over boathouse row and the wind has come down for most spots. philadelphia international stronger, but even at that just 10 miles an hour. 47 degrees right now. and still falling. we will see sunshine, bright sunshine all day long. completely dry today. with a quick warm-up. from the 40s and low 50s, into the 60s this afternoon. that is above normal. a chill in the air to start with, no sign of wet weather for us. the radar screen completely

clear until later in the week. for today, look at these temperatures. hour by hour forecast, 3:00 this afternoon, 64 degrees in philadelphia. a little cooler at the shore, atlantic city 58. the 60s extend into the lehigh valley. the evening will drop into the 40s and this time tomorrow morning we'll be in the 40s to start and we'll see temperatures climb during the day. but tomorrow will be chillier than today. tomorrow afternoon look at that, 55 degrees, at least 10 degrees cooler tomorrow. so enjoy this while it's here. sunshine and temperatures that are climbing into the 60s. nice and mild today with winds out of the northwest, 5 to 10 miles an hour. before we get to the weekend we are in for some wind and rain. i've got the seven-day forecast with the timing coming up in the next half hour. >> 4:21 now. let's see what's happening out on the roads before you hit them for this monday morning. jessica boyington standing by with a look at 295. we mad a tractor-trailer accident there. >> right.

so the tractor-trailer is out in bellmawr, northbound around exit 26. all lanes are blocked and detoured off to 76. i checked in with my cameras around 295, no backup behind that scene yet. you can see in this area in here everything is pretty much in the green so that's good news there. maybe the scene happened early enough we won't have a huge backup. the rest of the majors are great. this is around girard avenue, no problems east or westbound. we have a 12-minute drive time into center city. vile another check when i come back. >> we continue to get breaking news out of paris. updates coming throughout the morning. what we know now. three days after the deadly attack, in the past five minutes, prosecutors have identified two more of the attackers involved in those attacks. nbc 10's matt delucia is

gathering more information on these suspects that the french police are actively looking for and we'll get an update coming up in about five minutes. this time of year it's pretty common to see deer darting in and out of traffic. but imagine seeing this -- oh, my, that's no deer. see why a pair of zebras-it the road in west philadelphia, where they came from and how they were caught. ahead at 4:30, to tip or not to tip. new research is out and you may be surprised to hear who is more likely to tip especially when service isn't good.

opening of its first new station in 20 years. of course they will do that with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. service at the ninth street station with an added stop, all parking is free, as the existing parking garage is under construction. >> two zebras are back at the circus after escaping yesterday making a lot of jaws drop across west philadelphia. the circus is investigating how the animals got loose at the mann center. video showed the animals trotting down the street before police corralled them. animal activists protesting say this is another example of my animals should not be used for entertainment. >> they really horrific experience for the zebras who probably saw a chance to escape and thought they were going to maybe get some you know, outside time instead of being inside a small pen. instead they end up in traffic, running, terrified.

>> that's the second incident for the circus since it's been at the mann center. they had a trapeze artist fall. cool start this morning, 46 degrees at 4:27. it's nice and clear. we're in for sunshine today but there are some changes ahead. your first alert forecast just ahead. jessica boyington is in the first alert traffic center. >> we're looking live route 309 around the p.a. turnpike. no problems there but there might be problems somewhere else. >> two more suspects identified in the terror attacks in paris. that news just coming across now and we continue to follow it. we know that these suspects are being sought currently. we have names for you. matt delucia will have a live report coming up.
