ones, just fine so far. 95 southbound to the vine street expressway. no problems on the schuylkill to 95. we're only at a 16 minute trip there. when i come back in the next ten minutes, thanksgiving day prep going on. i'll tell you where it is. >> now to breaking news from overnight, a man is dead after being found in a burning home in knife town. fire officials tell us there were no working smoke detectors in the house. matt delucia is live. tell us more. >> reporter: the fire commissioner says that non-working smoke alarm may have been the difference here. pence the house behind me, there was a smoke alarm, in the basement, not on the 1st or 2nd floor where the heavy fire was. right behind me, that is the house. the fire started a little before 12:30. firefighters say they had to

deal with heavy smoke and flames. mostly on the 1st floor. firefighters searched the home and found a man in the room of the 1st floor. we'll come back live here. the firefighters left the scene about a half hour ago. the fire marshall will be investigating the cause. now that man was the only one in the house at the time. no other damage to the neighboring homes. right now, it is still unclear what was going on in the moments before the fire. we did speak with the fire commissioner. he was out here fought long ago. we will put out that sound coming up in 30 minutes. >> it's 4:03. new overnight, a violent brawl at a skating rink. this morning, a number of people are hurt. police tell us there were reports of gunshots. nbc 10's monique braxton is live with more. what happened? >> reporter: hey, tracy.

right now, all is quiet here at the christiania skating rink, but i can tell you i have been reaching out to delaware state police. i have been making calls, learning that this neighborhood falls under their jurisdiction. here is video we gathered while you were sleeping. it captures the promotion at the christian is that skating rink. if you look closely, it appears one person is stopping another in what is being called a family fun entertainment center. investigators tell us a brawl broke out at 10:30 last night t. motive isn't known. there are multiple reports of minor injuries, gunfire also erupted, but no one was wounded. i just got off the phone with christiania hospital, they told us due to hipa how many people were taken there from the skating rink, the extent of tear injuries or if anyone had to be admitted. we will continue to make calls. coming up in the next half hour,

we will share with you some of the comments that have been posted on social media regarding the brawl. live now in christiania, monique braxton, nbc 10 news. >> as we go into thanksgiving weekend, i want the american people to know is that we are taking every possible step to keep our homeland safe. >> during this busiest travel week of the year, president obama re-assures the nation, even as the state department has issued a world wide travel alert. they're urging you to keep your eyes opened and report any suspicious activity. homeland security crews are conducting more screening at airports around the country. this all comes on the heels of the deadly attacks in paris and the bombing of a russian airliner. experts say the real concern is not domestic flights but travel abroad. >> i don't think people should take an immediate threat from this particular alert. this is more for international travel. >> reporter: the experts say western europe is a big concern. but u.s. officials have said

they have no evidence of a credible threat against the u.s. homeland. later this morning, you will get your chance to see the best of in the country compete for title of top dog. the 14th annual national dog show present here on nbc 10. there are seven new breeds for a total of 199 recognized by the kennel club. tara lipinski and johnny weir were joining the show. you can see it today at noon. right here open nbc 10. well, crowds will be out lining the ben franklin parkway in philadelphia this morning for the 96th annual thanksgiving parade. here's a live look at the parkway t. philly tradition will include floats, giant ploons, local performances and the first appearance of the season from santa at the end of the oldest thanksgiving parade in the

country. now if you are in center city for the parade. check out the holiday spectacular at the comcast center. have you seen this? it's extraordinary every year. the 15 minute individual. in its eighth year now, also becoming a holiday tradition. comcast is a parent company of nbc 10. now to new york, crews are working feverishly to make final preparations for the macy's thanksgiving day prooarade. this year 3,000 people will be joined by new york police. heavily armed tactic am units will be ready to move in. officials stress there is no specific threat. you can watch the parade starting at 6:00 this morning right here on npc 10. in other news, three people are in the hospital following this fiery crash. it was just off the schuylkill expressway on a busy night before thanksgiving.

here's what happened. police say the car that caused the crash was stolen earlier in the day. investigators tell us the driver was speeding on the schuylkill, exited at montgomery drive. blew past the stop sign before smashing into a toyota that had the right of way. two suspect itself ran from the burning car onto the expressway. >> we were both able to run up the on ramp here onto the expressway, which is another careless act on their part. >> one of the people hurt in the car they hit, a pregnant woman. she and a boyfriends are in stable condition. her mother critically injured. police say the suspects suffered minor injuries and could be charged with aggravated assault and auto theft. the eagles are among the holiday travelers this thanksgiving. they will face the lions this afternoon in a nationally televised game. eagles are trying to bounce back

a mild turkey day on tap for us. i am tracking a warm black friday for you, for all you shoppers out there, weekend showers, a closer look at our current temperatures in philadelphia, it's a cold start to the morning. so if you have to head out early, bring a jacket. temperatures at 38 degrees. humidity is at 77%. the feels like temperature is closer to 34 degrees. across the rest of the region, we're at 28 degrees in mount holly, a bit warmer in wildwooded a 45 degrees, 36 in the poconos, temperatures down at 30 degrees, a look back at the past couple of day, we were below average, now as we head into today, we push above average, take a look at friday. it is going to be a warm way to ends your holiday weekend, our future weather shows we will see mild weather for thanksgiving. dry conditions expected for us. we will see a mix of sun and

cloud, no showers in the forecast, not today, not tomorrow. tomorrow we're unseasonably warm. the average is in the low 50s, instead, we'll be in the high 60s. then we will see a few more changes, which will drop our temperatures back down closer to average. so you can see some of those clouds moving in from the west. again, high pressure is in control. we stay nice and dry. this is a system we will be watching. it will give us weekend showers into saturday and sunday. our highs around the region will push into the low 60s, 63 degrees for philadelphia. by tomorrow, we're heading towards the high 60s. 67 degrees. today's range, a mix of sun and clouds, warmer than what we saw yesterday about 10 degrees warmer than our highs yesterday. the seven day forecast shows we warm things up by the end of the week. same thing on sunday. most of the source are expected to stay to the south of our area. temperatures take a tumble dropping into the 40s by sunday.

>> let's check the roads. jessica boyington is watching the schuylkill expressway. >> the schuylkill expressway looks good right now a. lot of construction projects are also picked up on this thanksgiving day. as you can see right in here, we have no problems, eastbound lanes in here headed to center city. we're still at a 14 minute drive time this morning. if you are headed out the door on the p.a. turnpike, check in with them as well. that's good news there. westbound, eastbound, route 1 to valley forge, 21 or 22 minute trip. also because of the thanksgiving day parade, watch out for no parking zones. they will be taking out jfk boulevard, vine and somewhere between 19 and 30ing, you definitely want to look for signs. metered street parking is drooe free. read signs and pay attention.

>> that's good advice. the pennsylvania state budget stalemate could begin to affect social service agencies in less than a week. starting next tuesday the county says it will stop dipping into the general fund to make payments to non-profits that provide services. they usually receive state funding. the county has been paying out more than $3 million a month since the budget deadline was missed in july. >> we were hopeful a bug would be passed by thanksgiving. not only is that hope dashed, we're not sure when it's going to be passed. >> delaware county is also considering withholding more than $6 million a month in taxes and tees it collects for the state. bucks county made a similar move early this week. a philadelphia man who robbed a store to feed a drug habit now has a clean record, thanks to a program backed by new jersey governor chris christie. >> i hope that somebody hears this and they know they don't sister to live like they're
