bus head on. what we're learning about the deadly crash in south jersey. philly fans showing respect to a basketball legend. tonight, lots of chants f s fore fans. first tonight developing right now, family and friends of a missing mother and child searching for answers at the vineland police department tonight. they disappeared last friday. her car was found on the side of route 55 in vineland. we talked to the missing woman's sister. she's joining us live sfrt poli from the police department. >> reporter: the family tells us somebody is being questioned. police are being very tight lipped saying their investigation is ongoing. they are trying to piece together what happened. the co-workers and church family

gathered outside this police department praying for her safe return. >> we're all trying to criy in between and talk to each other, try and comfort each other and pray she's okay. >> reporter: the 34-year-old worked at conte's pasta. when she didn't show up, her co-workers knew something was wrong. >> this is bizarre. >> reporter: her family saw her and her three children on thanksgiving. >> normal fun day. joking. everybody was eating, enjoying themselves. we were with the kids, playing. just having a good time. >> reporter: a friend saw her friday. she was supposed to attend a church retreat over the weekend. but on saturday, her trailblazer was found on the side of route 55 abandoned but not damaged. monday her and her daughter were reported missing. >> she's a very religious person. weekends she's church. she doesn't drink. her kids are her life. >> reporter: which is what makes

this puzzling and painful. how could a woman with such a robust support system just disappear? >> confusion. a lot of worry. a lot of questions. >> reporter: police confirm that all three fathers of the children have been contacted. the investigation is ongoing. no arrests have been made. two men were killed in burlington county when their car crashed into a bus carrying a high school swim team. police say the car hit the bus in south hampton township around 5:00 this evening. the bus was carrying members of a swim team. eight were treated for minor injuries along with an adult on the bus. both men in the car were killed. police say witnesses describe what may have led to the crash. >> a witness statement stating that the volkswagen traveling at

a high rate of speed, possibly improperly passing vehicles, entered the lane of the bus, striking it head on. >> investigators haven't released the names of the two men killed. to our weather. nbc 10 on broad street tonight. get ready for a double whammy for the morning commute, fog and rain could create another messy one for drivers. nbc 10 first alert meteorologist sheena is here. >> we have another exday where we expect showers in the morning but also through the afternoon. right now we are seeing a break in the rain. we do still have drizzle around. and we have fog, more widespread than we did earlier this afternoon. the other area of rain we're watching tomorrow, that's around the southeast. right through parts of atlanta, also tennessee, moving into the carolinas. this will be here for part of the area for the morning commute.

in town tonight. yes, the sixers game. fans wanted to see kobe bryant one last time in philadelphia before he retires. from philly and he admitted playing in front of his hometown crowd, it was going to be sentimental. kobe got a nice sendoff there. >> reporter: he did. no boos that we could hear. tonight's crowd, unlike any they have seen all season long. >> kobe bryant! >> reporter: fans got on their feet and cheered as kobe stepped out on the hardwood for the final time as an nba player. >> everybody went crazy. sixer fan and all. >> reporter: they paid tribute to bryant before the game recognizing his local connection by presenting him with a framed version of his lower marion high school jersey with the head coach by his side. earlier, kobe recalls fond memories of playing in

leaked grand jury information and lied about it. the state senate is considering whether to initiate a process to remove kane from office. a 3-year-old girl at the center of an amber alert is now safe tonight. just after 5:00 new jersey state troopers stopped the father on the garden state parkway. the father is accused of stabbing the girl's mother in new york and taking off with his daughter. a philadelphia police officer finds himself on the other side of the law tonight. joseph sees is facing assault and harassment charges for a domestic incident. police arrested him after they say he assaulted a woman possibly breaking her nose. he is a 17 year veteran of the force. the commissioner has suspended him for 30 days with the intend to dismiss. a victory for mumia. he has beis serving a life sent

for murdering a police officer. he has several health problems, including hepatitis c. his lawyers say he was denied proper medical care both in prison and during a hospital stay earlier this year. the shakeup over this video has cost chicago's top cop his job. the city's mayor fired police g. it comes over protests of the handling of a shooting death of a black teen by a white police officer. the mayor says the force needs a new leader to rebuild trust. we have learned the names of a woman and son shot to death in a home. authorities say paul marshal murdered his girlfriend and her son sunday night. he then took his own life. investigators trying to figure out what led to that ram page. .

this raging inferno brought traffic to a standstill. a gas tanker truck caught fire in southern california. no one was hurt here. look at this fireball and thick black plumes of smoke. it was carrying more than 8,000 gallons of fuel. a philadelphia man is charged tonight with making his way into the scene of the deadly amtrak derailment by imperson e impersonating a federal law enforcement officer. he was indicted on federal charges today. he is accused of getting to the crash scene in may by identifying himself as an atf officer. police say he also impersonated an officer last year and searched someone's vehicle. congress passed a bill to lift the liability cap on payments to victims in the derailment. the cap was $200 million. now it's raised to $295 million. eight people died in the derailment and more than 200 others were injured. today, the philadelphia lawyers

representing some of the victims commended the decision but said more money does not soften the pain for the victims. take a look at this guy caught on very clear surveillance video. he is decked out in a steelers jersey, loads up witness her can a packaged outside a home in delaware. it's not his home. he swiped the packages after watching u.p.s. drop them off. police have recovered some of the stolen stuff. they are looking for the thief. his car had south carolina plates. outnumbered and robbed of his car and money while he was pumping gas. police say this video shows a group of men assaulting the victim last saturday. watch as he hangs on to his car as the thieves drive off after roughing him up. police found the stolen car several blocks away. the group made off with about $500 in cash. investigators looking for them tonight. facebook founder mark sdu r zuckerberg is a new dad tonight.

he is giving away most of his wealth. they announced the birth of their daughter max. she was born last week. they posted a letter pledging to give 99% of their shares in facebook, roughly worth $45 billion, to charity over the course of their lifetime. philadelphia is now home to the country's best italian restaurant. at least according to one new list. they named vetri the top italian restaurant in america. located on spruce street here in center city. they call the meals here, truly once in a lifetime. they will cost you. the restaurant offers a tasting menu for $155 per person. there's no reason to miss the fireworks on new year's eve whether you can be there in person or not. nbc 10 has you covered. >> two, one.

♪ today at city hall the mummers were on hand as well as keith jones announcing that nbc 10 is the proud sponsor of this year's sugarhouse fireworks. we will air them live on nbc 10 at 6:00 p.m. plus we will air a 30-minute special on telemundo 62. we are live streaming the fireworks on nbc10.com. sheena, good thing the fireworks weren't tonight or tomorrow morning with the fog. >> because we have more rain in the forecast and really this is going to be two days with rainfall. that's what we are seeing across the area. even though the rain from earlier today has really lightened up, we still have drizzle outside. we have fog through most of the area. this is going to be the case as we go overnight tonight. then more rain tomorrow. another area moving in for the morning commute and more moving in through the afternoon. make sure you keep that umbrella handy through the day tomorrow. the sun finally returning but not until thursday. tomorrow, another rainy day. take your time on the roadways.

here is a look at your planner tomorrow. by 8:00 in the more than, around 50. showers and fog around. by 10:00, low 50s, showers and fog. by noon, we expect it to be rainy through most of the area by then with temperatures in the mid 50s. fog has settled across the area. coatesville seeing a quarter mile visibility. philadelphia only one mile. northeast philly, one and a half mile visibility. it extends to the shore. it's not as bad in new jersey and delaware. by tomorrow morning, we still expect this fog around and even with rain for the morning commute. right now we have seen a big break in the rain. all that rain moved up to the northeast. we have more that's going to move in. there you see it down to our south and west. it's heading in this direction. it will be here for part of the morning commute and increasing through the afternoon. this is future weather here. we mostly have the dry conditions around now. then you see that rain starting to move in again tomorrow. 9:00 in the morning, most of the coverage could be mostly north and west of philadelphia. but either way, expect showers around for the morning drive

with the fog. now we're looking at 3:00 p.m. you see that area of rain just kind of spreading kind of like it did today. some pockets of heavy rain possible through the afternoon. then we could see another break around the evening commute where the rain starts to lighten up and break up. tapering off. that's going to be the case through the evening. 8:00 p.m., we should see a lot of this rain make its way out. that's when the cold front moves through. we will see improving conditions wednesday. it's going to be -- thursday, i should say. windy thursday. we will see sunshine. look to the north and west. we have an area of snow showers we will be watching. that's lake affect snow. the windy conditions from the north and west can blow some of the snowflakes in mostly north and west of philly. poconos the best chance of that in the morning thursday. tonight, the light rain and drizzle and fog around. that's going to continue. 52 for the low in philadelphia. 47 areas north and west. tomorrow, the rain will be around. heavy through the afternoon. also fog in the morning hours

with that rain. high temperatures around 60. ten degrees above normal. then we finally see improvements as we go into thursday. more sunshine, but it's going to be gusty, 53 degrees. cooler. going into the weekend, we have a stretch of some nice sunny days in the forecast. friday, saturday and sunday, it's going to be sunny, temperatures around 50 degrees going friday. for the weekend, low 50s saturday, mid 50s sunday. looking pretty good. above normal for this time of the year for the month of december. starting off next week, we will start with temperatures near 60 again. >> we just have to get through tomorrow? a little damp? >> yeah. then it gets nice from there. >> all right. a win win for kobe and sixer fans tonight. >> the wells fargo center was rocking for a sixers game. kobe bryant's last game here in philly. we will see what got him emotional after the game. that's next.
