nbc's gina kim is in san bernardino with more on today's breaking developments. >> reporter: just two days after the mass shooting that took the lives of 14 people, investigators are zeroing in on the couple's motivation behind the attack. >> we are now investigating these horrific acts as an act of terrorism. >> reporter: federal officials say tashfeen malik, the female suspect, pledged her allegiance to isis on social media. malik allegedly made the post on facebook under a different name, then deleted it, but investigators were able to recover it. >> i'm aware of it, we're looking into it. >> reporter: the fbi does not believe isis had direct involvement with either her or her husband, syed farook, but they acknowledge others are being investigated. officials don't know whether other attacks were planned, but are concerned the couple was flying under the radar. >> doesn't make sense. they didn't seem like the type. >> reporter: as you can see, the hard drive is gone. >> reporter: today as the couple's rented home in

redlands, the media was allowed free access to the apartment by the landlord after it was cleared by the fbi. media had no access to the garage, which had been converted into a bomb making lab, complete with explosive powders and igniters. investigators recovered hard drives and other media that the couple apparently attempted to destroy, but the fbi says they are confident they'll be able to access whatever the suspects didn't want them to know. meanwhile, victims' families cautioned against blaming an entire faith community. >> these are the two that did it, focus on that, and that's it. >> reporter: an investigation now focused on an act of terrorism. investigators are also looking into how the couple got their hands on the guns and explosives but say so far no arrests have been made. nbc news. we learned today one of the 14 people killed in california was a pennsylvania native. harry bowman was born and raised in york.

today 52 degrees. actually the coolest of the days that we're going to be seeing for a bit. the temperature now has just dropped a little bit, 50 degrees, 41 in pottstown, 40 in millville, so those places will be down in the 30s, even in the next hour. you're going to need some kind of a coat tonight, but there really isn't much wind either. we have a very dry pattern. we're not going to be seeing any kind of precipitation, so it might be a good weekend to go wash the car, because it's not going to get ruined by the rain or snow. you can see temperatures dropping through the 40s and into the 30s later tonight in philadelphia. of course, even colder in the suburbs. we'll see how much it's going to warm up next week and if we're going to be seeing any rain with the seven day in a few minutes. >> all right, glenn. thousands of police officers from across the country attended the funeral of a pennsylvania police officer killed in the line of duty. officer lloyd reed was killed saturday as he was responding to a domestic violence call.

prosecutors say he was shot by ray shetler outside a home in new florence, a bullet hit him in the area of his chest that wasn't protected by his bullet proof vest. today's funeral was held at the war memorial in florence, where reed was remembered by fellow officers. >> lloyd died the way that he lived, trying to help somebody. rest in peace, my friend. take over the watch from here. >> police say shetler ran from the scene, they found him six hours later. he's now charged with criminal homicide. a 37-year-old man is charged with dui after crashing into a police car in south philadelphia. nbc 10 here at 25th around 12:30 this morning. police say the driver of this red car slammed into the back of the police cruiser. the officer has minor injuries. it is now five months without a budget for pennsylvania. governor tom wolf today said that he thinks an agreement is

close. senators are expected to work through the weekend, but as nbc 10's lauren mayk tells us, that's little comfort to the many state funded agencies in our area struggling to stay open. >> reporter: the room is walled off from the happy chatter of youngsters. it's where this school ran its pre-k counts program before the budget stalemate forced it to cut back. how closely have you been watching things happening in harrisburg? >> oh, my gosh, day to day, i'm keeping everybody up on what's going on. >> reporter: the school finds ways to keep going without the state funds, but with the help of nonprofits and neighbors. >> even the simplest thing of markers and crayons. >> reporter: and even parents who qualified for the state program. your parents who used to be able to get this program for no cost, they are now chipping in, basically. >> yeah, they are. and actually they are chipping in a little bit over that. they've been helping around the building, i have a mom who came and started working for us, just to kind of help out.

bat, that's what authorities tell us. if you can help or know them, call philadelphia police. a gloucester county man faced a judge today after fbi agents say they found dozens of pictures and video of children being sexually abused on his computer. 37-year-old eric ziegler is charged with receiving child pornography. ziegler was linked to an online community that regularly sends and receives child porn online. he faces five to 20 years in prison. and a new resource for children in philadelphia who have been sexually abuse, a state of the art medical suite is now open. it is staffed with medical staff from both the children's hospital of philadelphia and saint christopher's hospital, includes experts in social work, law enforcement, child protective services, and now medical care. >> before we had this site where we stand today, the philadelphia state collaborative, children had to be separately requestioned during the course of all the various phases of an

this is nbc 10 news. >> we're learning from police that this man allegedly called in a bomb threat to philadelphia international. yesterday police received two calls from a pay phone regarding a bomb at the airport. surveillance video showed this man making those calls. security swept the terminals and did not find anything. we are getting our first glimpse inside the home of the california couple blamed for wednesday's shooting rampage in san bernardino. here's a look now as nbc's kerry sanders tours the apartment. >> reporter: so we're walking upstairs here, which i'm told is a two bedroom apartment. let's just take a look. okay. here we come around the corner and this appears to be the

baby's room right here. and you can see we have where the six-month-old child and here's a computer. i don't actually see a whole lot of dusting here, but as you can see, the hard drive is gone. wait a second, yes, let me take you over here, this is interesting. look in this bin, here you can see all types of things have been shredded. so the fbi must have decided that whatever was in here was not important, because even when documents are shredded, they can be very painstakingly put back together. >> the landlord had invited the media to tour the suspects' apartment after law enforcement left with important evidence. in other developments, the fbi now says it's investigating wednesday's shooting as an act of terrorism. it made the declaration at a news conference this afternoon. also new, officials say the female suspect in wednesday's shooting pledged allegiance to

isis on facebook during the attack. facebook says she posted the material under an alias. a cafe targeted last month in paris is welcoming customers again tonight. it reopened today three weeks after islamic extremist gunmen opened fire, killing five people at this location, the cafe one of several sites hit on november 13th. 130 people were killed in paris. delaware u.s. senator chris coons is in paris right now for the global climate change challenge. coons is part of a delegation that includes new jersey senator cory booker. they'll attend a series of events and meetings with world leaders to try to create solutions to the global challenges of climate change. nearly 200 nations are meeting for an 11-day u.n. climate conference. back here in our area, these masked men robbed a corner grocery store in north philadelphia, now police need your help to find them. the surveillance video was reported wednesday night at the

business on north 19th street. the two thieves point their guns at workers and make off with about $300, plus several packs of cigarettes. if you know anything, call philadelphia police. police in cherry hill are hoping somebody recognizes this suspect. investigators tell us the man stole from a victim's purse on route 70 west. the victim's credit cards were then used to buy gift cards worth over $7,500 at target stores in cherry hill and mt. laurel. anybody who recognizes this man can contact cherry hill police. lost today from the elmwood park zoo in montgomery county, an 18-month-old panda has died, one of three brothers that arrived from a research center in virginia last spring. while tests are under way, the brothers were checked out and they are healthy. new information just in now on the chipotle e. coli outbreak. the pennsylvania department of

health now saying it does not believe an e. coli case in pennsylvania has ties to chipotle. an outbreak of e. coli linked to chipotle has sickened more than 60 people, but they have not eaten at a chipotle restaurant. a new study shows magnetic stimulation of the brain could help people beat cocaine addiction. patients received eight sessions of pulses over a month, following the treatment they reported fewer cravings than those who just received medication for their addiction. scientists say the findings are promising, but more studies are needed to confirm the results. meditation may help you improve your heart health. in a new study participants who meditated for 20 minutes twice a day lowered their stress levels, which in turn lowered blood pressure. according to researchers, the

meditation group was just as successful as a group that made lifestyle changes like lowering their salt intake and increasing their exercise. now your nbc 10 first alert weather with chief meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz. >> well, after a couple of days, all that rain and fog, we've got into a stretch of some pretty nice weather. it's kind of chilly at night because of the clear skies, and then it will warm up during the day. so it's going to be mild compared to the average december temperature. and it's going to be a sunny weekend, too. so great for shopping or just about anything outdoors, except for skiing. the people who like to ski are sorely disappointed with this weather pattern. we have clear skies out there right now, 50 degrees, the wind only nine miles an hour, so there is no wind chill issue tonight. temperatures dropping down near 40 degrees in pottstown already, and it is down to 40 in

millville. 47 atlantic city international. of course, temperatures will be down into the 30s pretty quickly. and that's typical for this time of the year. and we're generally a couple degrees warmer than at this time yesterday, but millville, for example, six degrees cooler because of the clear skies and the light wind. they'll be getting down closer to the 30 degree mark and below the freezing level. philadelphia 36, we still haven't gotten to the freezing mark officially in philadelphia. and we are in december. we've got dry air all up and down the eastern coast and the eastern half of the country with the one exception in south florida. we're going to have dry weather up in new england for the eagles game and considering that it's a december game, this is fairly mild, and not much wind, so the weather unusual that it will not be a significant factor. you can see on the future cast

this is nbc 10 news. >> just received a huge donation, presenting the hospital with a check for $500,000. it's part of a five-year, $2 million pledge. the show is supporting the hospital's renovation. it includes a new intensive care unit to be named in honor of the show. verizon has been knocked out of the top spot as the nation's best wireless carrier. t mobile is now number one, according to a consumer reports readers poll. people were asked about value, texting, data speeds, call quality, and customer service.

it's the first time verizon has not been in the top spot among the biggest four carriers. other surveys did get different results. amazon is getting into the delivery game announcing today it will employ its own fleet of amazon branded trucks. they won't deliver packages directly, rather deliver the orders around the country between amazon warehouses. amazon says the trucks will be used to help handle dramatically increasing volumes and help deliver items on time. and speaking of volume, the company's trying to do something about all the traffic from drivers heading out of their warehouse in mercer county, new jersey. the mayor threatened legal action over the traffic in and out of amazon's facility. gets backed up along interstate 195 and old york road. now amazon says it will stagger workers shifts over a 9 o-minute period during peak hours. the plan will be in place by monday. arrested at school.

speaks out in court today, telling a judge he's sorry. >> prosecutors say 30-year-old joseph becker pressured a student to provide sexually graphic videos of her and then pressured the girl to later lie about it. nbc 10's deanna durante was there as becker gave his apology. she joins us live from warrington. deanna? >> reporter: yeah, that apology as well as another statement becker gave this morning can be used against him in the case against him. a man who has taught in multiple classrooms here in bucks county, as well as chester county. joseph becker says nothing as he's taken into court, a mathematics teacher with a history of working in classrooms he's now in a jail cell. prosecutors say he's a danger to the community and may be a danger to himself. >> this defendant abused his position and violated that trust when he engaged in the conduct he did with one of his students. >> reporter: prosecutors say becker began contacting a math student of his back in may, then over the summer continued to contact her daily via facebook.

police say becker asked the girl to send sexually explicit photos and videos, which she did, and the two began exchanging videos of each other, though no physical contact is alleged, becker is charged with multiple sexual abuse counts. he tells the judge he has a wife and 2-year-old child and i made a mistake, i'm sorry. becker was arrested at penn ridge north middle school today after police say the victim and her parents reported the case yesterday. now they are asking anyone with information to call detectives. and we did get a statement a little while ago from the school district. they confirm becker was a teacher, though they say they have no reports of any behavior that could be criminal. investigators tonight are asking for more information on becker. if you have information, call the bucks county detectives. reporting live in warrington, deanna durante, nbc 10 news. in delaware, a first day of deliberations has wrapped up in the trial of a white dover

police officer accused of kicking a black suspect in the face while in custody. dash cam video shows the kick and we want to warn you, you may find it disturbing. the video was recorded in august of 2013, it shows webster kicking la feoteef dickerson. dickerson was knocked unconscious and had a broken jaw. webster's attorneys say the officer's actions were justified. deliberations resume monday. the federal aviation administration is investigating why this small plane went down in new jersey today. pilot had just taken off from the millville airport when the plane lost power, forced this emergency landing right here. the plane landed on its belly near an adjacent taxiway. the pilot has minor injuries and a passenger was not hurt. if you are heading out on this friday evening, you will definitely want to bundle up and have a jacket on, but it's not as cold as it usually is this

cocaine in a tour bus bedroom, that's what police say they found when they discovered rocker scott weiland dead. he died in his sleep before a tour stop in bloomington, minnesota. weiland was 48 years old. let's take a live look now at the wells fargo center in south philly. a big announcement today that the boss will make a stop here on his upcoming tour. ♪ bruce springsteen will perform part of the river tour at the wells fargo center on february 12th. so far that's the only date set for philly. tickets go on sale next friday. the tolls at the bridges and tunnels connecting new jersey and new york going up again this weekend, but at least it's for the last time in the near future. the last of five annual toll increases goes into effect on

outside of the bars. philadelphia's next mayor has weighed in on the fight over a new football stadium for temple. the university wants to build a $130 million stadium at 15th and norris streets. temple's president is onboard with the idea but many north philadelphia residents are against it, so what does mayor-elect jim kenney think about it? >> i think they should be at the linc and have comparable costs associated with their use as the university of pittsburgh does out at heinz field. >> kenney says if temple fills a stadium with only 35,000 seats, it will not be enough room for fans during big games and the team will end up playing at the linc anyway. now your nbc 10 first alert weather with chief meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz. >> well, certainly had a mild start to this winter season, even though it's not officially winter, sometimes you can get wintery weather this early.

no sign of that. chilly nights, that's about it, but it's supposed to get chilly at night in december. we have mild days, too, with temperatures above average. that continues, and the sunny weekend. another sunny weekend. we have great weather coming here for shopping or washing the car, just about anything else outside. 50 degrees, wind only nine miles an hour. and the temperature dropping to near 40 degrees in many suburban areas and will be dropping into the 30s within the next hour or two in many of these places, too. yeah, it's going to be a chilly night, but not going to be any wind to make it feel even colder. right now we have the wind out of the northwest, and it's not real strong, only about 5 to 10 miles an hour. some places already even lower than 5 miles an hour. and that will continue to go down during the night tonight. so by morning, probably be just

about no wind. and 29 degrees in allentown will feel like 29. 31 in millville and 29 in mount holly. going to feel like those numbers, not any lower. dry conditions all across our part of the country, and as a matter of fact, just about the entire eastern half of the country except for south florida, which has been getting blasted by rain. miami's had a record for the amount of rainfall for that day yesterday. and the dry weather continues into new england, too, for the eagles playing sunday afternoon. and into the evening. that's not very chilly. we're talking about night. and it's only in the 40s. in new england. in december. not bad. you don't usually get weather like that. and we're going to see the mostly clear skies throughout much of the weekend here. and that will be the case. look at this, as we go into

sunday and monday, nothing more than some high clouds moving into the area. and how much rain is likely to fall during the next week? here's one of the computer models. going all the way through friday. nothing. once again. so we're in a dry weather pattern and a relatively mild one over the next week. not a lot of people objecting to that, except for snow lovers. 36 degrees in philadelphia, 28 north and west with clear skies and little wind during the day tomorrow. sunshine, nothing but sunshine, and not much wind either. temperature up a few degrees, so it's going to feel really nice to most folks. 58 degrees on sunday, with very similar conditions. and 58 on monday with perhaps a few more clouds, but it looks like that storm that we were expecting to stay south is, indeed, going to stay to the south and not bring rain up this way. so we could get through most, if not the entire week, without rain as we warm up again.

>> i'm jim rosenfield, there have been several new developments tonight in the deadly shootings in california. tonight we know syed farook and his wife tashfeen malik tried to destroy evidence of their planned attack. the fbi says they showed signs of becoming radicalized and not part of a terror cell. nbc 10 investigator mitch blacher is joining us with more on today's developments. mitch? >> the fbi revealed these suspects planned this attack extensively. we're also hearing from facebook, who said it took down isis-related comments posted by tashfeen malik. she had a separate facebook account using a different name. facebook says it does not allow people to praise acts of terror or promote terrorism. also today the fbi said the duo tried to destroy their digital fingerprints, but what they are finding could hold even more clues. >> for example, we found two cell phones in a nearby trash can. those cell phones were actually

crushed. we have retained those cell phones and we do continue to exploit the data from those cell phones. we do hope that the digital fingerprints that were left by these two individuals will take us towards their motivation. >> we also have new details about the weapons used. law enforcement sources tell nbc news the rifle was modified to allow it to fire automatically. government field tests showed the suspects used the automatic mode but it failed. if it had worked, the shooters could have fired more bullets than they did. today nbc news was granted access to the shooters' apartment where they lived with their 6-month-old child. here is nbc's kerry sanders. >> reporter: we're walking up the stairs here, which i'm told is a two-bedroom apartment and this appears to be the baby's room right here. and you can see we have -- this is where the 6-month-old child was, and here's
