crushed. we have retained those cell phones and we do continue to exploit the data from those cell phones. we do hope that the digital fingerprints that were left by these two individuals will take us towards their motivation. >> we also have new details about the weapons used. law enforcement sources tell nbc news the rifle was modified to allow it to fire automatically. government field tests showed the suspects used the automatic mode but it failed. if it had worked, the shooters could have fired more bullets than they did. today nbc news was granted access to the shooters' apartment where they lived with their 6-month-old child. here is nbc's kerry sanders. >> reporter: we're walking up the stairs here, which i'm told is a two-bedroom apartment and this appears to be the baby's room right here. and you can see we have -- this is where the 6-month-old child was, and here's a computer.

to california where he took a similar job there. the fbi also found the suspects were making bombs in their garage. they say they were planning to use christmas tree lights to detonate one of them. that's the latest from the digital operations center, i'm mitch blacher, nbc 10 news. >> we know one of the suspects posted comments about isis on facebook, and coming up in about ten minutes, how social media is playing a big role in bringing down isis. >> we're following a developing story tonight in bucks county. a middle school math teacher told a judge he's sorry for exchanging sexually graphic videos with one of his students. joseph becker was arraigned in court after police arrested him at penn ridge middle school today. prosecutors say becker pressured a 14-year-old girl into sending explicit videos of herself. the communication lasted from july until november. no physical contact is alleged, but becker is charged with multiple counts of sexual abuse.

he remains in jail tonight on 10% of $250,000 bail. a car up in flames shuts down a south jersey highway. police say one suspect is behind bars, another still on the run after both ran from police, putting innocent drivers at risk. the fiery mess unfolded in front of burlington city high school. nbc 10's south jersey bureau reporter cydney long is live to explain what sparked the mess and the foot chase that followed. >> reporter: i can tell you it was a silent alarm that called police to the burlington chevrolet and that's when two suspects realized that police were on to them, so they jumped in their car and sped down the street right here, jackson, but it was their turn on to northbound route 130 that put their own lives and the lives of others in danger. police dash cam footage you'll see only on 10 shows cops quick on the response to a theft in progress. the crooks fled the parking lot of burlington chevrolet. crashed their car into a utility

pole and ran away. moments before witnesses captured the car on its side and in flames. >> they climbed out of the vehicle, jumped the fence and started to run on foot. >> reporter: it shut down route 130 north. witnesses took a series of cell phone photos and sky force 10 was high above as schools were put on alert. at the time, police didn't know if the men were armed. >> get the rims and get them on the underground market, but again, to flee out of the parking lot, into the highway and put other innocent people in danger, especially when school children are getting ready to come to school. >> reporter: as both suspects ran, so did an officer and k-9 who quickly cornered one suspect. >> just before that k-9 had to do the apprehension, the suspect gave up and we were able to get him into custody. >> reporter: 22-year-old ruben cruz of philadelphia. police have reason to believe he's involved in more than stolen rims, but other car dealership thefts in recent months. >> activities of stealing these

rims is known throughout our region. it's happening to several dealerships, not only in burlington city, but the tri-state area. >> reporter: the crash and foot chase kept the road closed for hours and utility crews hard at work on pole repairs well into friday afternoon. and police tell me they are right now comparing notes with some neighboring townships, as well as other car dealerships to determine how widespread these thefts are. that second suspect, in the meantime, has not yet been caught or identified. cruz face charges of theft, as well as eluding authorities. live in burlington city, cydney long, nbc 10 news. now to our weather. what's in store for your friday night? it's been mild out there. nbc 10 chief meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz is here. mild for december, we should say, right, glenn? >> absolutely. little bit warmer than normal during the day, but it cools off at night with the clear skies, light wind, and low humidity, but at least the roads are dry,

unlike earlier in the week with all that rain. the average high temperature this time of the year is 49 degrees, and we have been way above it. wednesday, 60 degrees, even with the rain, and 52 today. that's the coldest that we're going to see for a little while. it's now down into the 30s, pottstown and millville. millville's at 36 degrees. the usual clear sky, light wind, low humidity kcombination. it's a dry pattern we're seeing here and covering much of the eastern half of the country, with the exception of south florida. and the temperature dropping into the 30s in philadelphia, as we go through the night, of course. some of the suburban areas down into the 20s. we'll see how much more it's going to warm up and if we're going to see rain with the seven day in a few minutes. take a look at this, a hard landing in cumberland county today. this plane lost power at the millville airport. the pilot had just taken off

when he had to make this emergency landing. you can see this shot from sky force 10 the plane landed on its belly near an adjacent taxiway. the pilot has minor injuries tonight, a panel was not hurt. you could soon play online poker in new jersey against celebrities. new jersey's gaming enforcement division released a plan casinos have to hire famous people and give them money to gamble. the goal here is to boost new jersey's internet gambling industry. pennsylvania lawmakers will work this weekend to try to hammer out a budget deal. house and senate republican majorities met separately several hours behind closed doors today. governor tom wolf says he believes a deal is close. it's been more than five months without a budget. driving from new jersey to new york is going to cost you even more starting this weekend. new tolls for the bridges and tunnels go into effect on sunday. if you use cash you'll pay $1 more to $15. four years ago it was just $8.

this is nbc 10 news. >> we're following breaking developments in the san bernardino shootings this evening. fbi officials now say they are investigating wednesday's attack as an act of terrorism. that announcement came just after it was revealed that one of the suspects, tashfeen malik, reportedly praised the leader of isis in a facebook post as the attack was happening. investigators say malik's husband, syed farook, also used facebook to contact extremists under scrutiny by the fbi. nbc 10's george spencer spoke with an expert who says radicals have been successful using the social network for their terrorist network. >> reporter: it is the new information now shaping our view of wednesday's attack. the fbi confirms it's investigating as a possible act of terrorism and sources tell nbc news agents uncovered a pro isis facebook post written by the female shooter, tashfeen

malik, a pakistani native who may have radicalized her husband. >> i think if you look at the terroristic war today, when it comes to multimedia, our adversaries are winning. >> reporter: drexel professor dr. scott white says terrorists are doing a very successful job of using social media. not only are they communicating covertly online, they are also using social media to inspire new radicals who may develop unnoticed in their home communities. >> young people being radicalized in the basement of their house with their computer and the family members may not knowing about it. >> reporter: indeed as investigators comb for clues at the home of the killers, both in their late 20s, relatives told reporters they were observant muslims, but not radicals and there were no indications on what may have motivated the attack. alicia is a temple senior and an nbc 10 intern born in new jersey to a muslim father and a catholic mother. she says assumptions about

weather with chief meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz. >> well, remember those two straight rainy, foggy days that we had earlier in the week? well, we're going to make up for that this weekend with real nice weather. we have some chilly nights, only because the skies clear and the wind is light. that allows the temperature to drop at night, but it recovers during the day with all that sunshine. we've got some more mild weather and sunshine both days over the weekend. we've got clear skies now, visibility excellent. 50 degrees, the wind down to 7 miles an hour. yesterday we were gusting over 30. today, different story. this weekend, different story. not much wind. today actually the coolest day for a while, it was 56 yesterday, about 56 tomorrow. 58 degrees on sunday. and the average high is 49, so we've been 58 degrees, way above average for this time of the year. it's down to 39 in pottstown, 38

in coatesville. 39 in doylestown. for 6:00 at night, that's pretty chilly. at least there's no wind chill with it. quite a contrast from the 38 in coatesville to 50 in philadelphia. that's known as the urban heat island effect, all that concrete over the city keeping that heat in. 41 degrees in ricetown, 43 atlantic city airport, 36 degrees in millville. that will be one of the cold spots in the morning. there's the northwest wind, but it's not much of a wind anymore. it's already dead calm in a few places, and single digits everywhere else. so we're going to be seeing temperatures down into the upper 20s in parts of the area as that wind diminishes to near calm in many parts of the area, but it's going to warm up very quickly with the clear skies. that sunshine tomorrow, and there's no weather system approaching that's going to really change anything.

and new england's going to be affected by the same thing. the weather's going to be really good for the eagles game. sunday afternoon, unusually mild for massachusetts at that time of night, at that time of the year. and the future cast showing us no storms, even close by as we head through the weekend, so we're in good shape. we were watching a system to the south, looked yesterday like it was going to stay to the south and it is going to stay to the south, so we may get by many days without any rain. 36 for the low in philadelphia, 28 north and west with clear skies and light wind. not much wind tomorrow either. high temperatures a few degrees warmer than today and with all that sunshine, it's going to feel pretty nice. and another feeling pretty nice day on sunday. few more clouds monday, and then we cool down a bit on tuesday, but temperatures go right back up toward the end of the week. by friday we could be up near 60
