. a teenaged boy disappears. tonight, he was found dead inside a broken down car. good evening, i'm jacqueline london. >> and i'm jim rosenfield. tonight police are trying to figure out what happened. nbc 10's andrea cline thomas live at the scene. >> reporter: he was reported missing from his upper darby home on wednesday but we're told his parents used to live in this area. police responded to a 911 call just after 7:00 p.m. a 15-year-old was found dead in the backseat of a lincoln town car with at least one gunshot wound to the head. someone started screaming after making the gruesome discovery in

the 24 hu00 block. the father was on scene and identified his son. >> this vehicle will be towed to our police garage. that's where we'll do a thorough investigation. at this time, we don't see any weapon in plain view. >> reporter: the car had flat tire, a tarp over a one doe and hadn't been moved in some time. police didn't know if the teen was shot inside of the car or if he was placed there. it's also unknown if this was a murder or if the gunshot wound was self-inflicted. >> fortunately, we found city realtime crime cameras in the south end of the block at york and park avenue. we also found several private residences with surveillance camera. >> police hope the video can uncover clues. in addition, the teen's parents and the owner of the car who lives on the block are being questioned. back out here live, police are on scene and as you can see the tow truck has arrived. once they can haul the car away

they'll reopen the block of north park avenue. aundrea cline-thomas. a delaware couple faces murder charges in the death of their three-month-old son. police say they abused their child. they say he had numerous injuries in his short lifetime. back in may, the infant was admitted to the hospital in critical condition with broken bones and a serious head injury. he died after five months on life support. >> basic human nature is to cry if you're upset or, you know, in pain, and if your first gut reaction is to hit the child then i think you need to get some help. >> reporter: the couple has another two-year-old son now in the care of the state. he did not appear to be harmed. from our south jersey bureau, new information on this fire in gloucester county we brought you last night. police say it was the result of a mom torching a house with her kids inside all because of a custody dispute. investigators say lynnette mcgwire and her cousin denice

coyle are responsible for last night's fire in washington township. maguire's four children were among the six people in the home. they escaped. maguire's father owns the home and has custody of her kids. he claim she is came there last night wanting to see her kids. >> when we started to call the police is when she said "you don't understand, the house is on fire, get out." not us get out, get my kids out. >> the family is overwhelmed by the devastation. they did not have insurance. neighbors are donating gift cards and clothing to help the family get back on their feet. >> reporter: delaware has waited to see what impact the merger of dupont and dow chemical will have on the state. dow and dupont will join forces to form a $130 billion company and then it will split into three independent companies focused on agriculture, material science, and specialty products. 7,000 people work for dupont in delaware. the company is expected to slash about 10% of its work force.

candidate donald trump is adding a new target tonight. texas senator ted cruz. trump unleashed a verbal assault on cruz as he spoke in iowa tonight. it's the one rival he had spared until now. that changed tonight after word leaked cruz criticized trump at a closed more door event. earlier in the day angry protesters showed up to greet trump in new york city at a fund-raiser for pennsylvania republicans. >> dump trump! dump trump! >> this was the scene outside the plaza hotel where where the pennsylvania republican party's annual commonwealth club lunching was held. demonstrators were angry about trump's call for a ban on muslims entering the u.s. some protesters got inside the event and disrupted his speech. members of a southern california mosque believe they are a target of a hate crime. their mosque caught fire around noon today. investigators are looking at the fire as possible arson. the fire was contained to the small building's front lobby.

no one was hurt. it happened as members of the mosque were arriving for afternoon prayer. muslims from across the area gathered at philadelphia's city hall to set the record straight. they say it's their responsibility to educate americans about islam in hopes of countering the links made to terrorism. still, they say, they are feeling the backlash of recent attacks. >> we feel the need to now voice who we are and what our faith really represents because there is no version of islam that justifies the kind of mass murders and the mass killings that are occurring in the name of our very very peaceful religion. >> tonight's demonstration comes days after a bloody pig's head was thrown outside of a north philadelphia mosque. another group concerned about immigrants being deported

made their voices heard as well at philadelphia city hall today. they want mayor nutter to keep philadelphia a so-called sanctuary city and avoid making changes to the city's current immigration policy. the mayor's office says the group is exaggerating the impact of the proposed change. mayor-elect jim kenney says if mayor nutter makes a change to the policy, he will change it back when he assumes office. for the first time tonight, we are hearing the controversial comments supreme court justice antonin scalia made about black students. comments that have him under fire. they came during arguments wednesday about an affirmative action program at the university of texas. scalia suggested some black students belong at universities that are "slower track" and "less advanced." that audio was released today. >> one of the briefs pointed out that most of the black scientists in this country don't come from schools like the university of texas. they come from lesser schools where they do not feel that

they're being pushed ahead in classes that are two fast for them. >> reporter: justice scalia is no stranger to controversial rhetoric. his comments have drawn criticism from civil rights leaders, top democrats and even the white house. >> the jury will hear closing arguments monday in the trial of a baltimore police officer accused in the death of freddie gray. officer william porter is charged with manslaughter, m misconduct and more. gray died in police custody after breaking his neck in the back of a police van. his death sparked riots in the city and became a rallying cry for the black lives matter movement. the baltimore police department canceled vacations for officers next week in preparation for a verdict. philadelphia radio legend patti jackson is explaining her absence from the airwaves tonight. >> this is patti jackson where i have been? >> jackson posted this video on her facebook page. she has been off the air for

lasting so long but if you love cold and snow don't give up. it's not over with. it's just december. we have a record weekend here. early fog coming in the morning. rain coming inned on monday. that will hold off until next week. we have partly cloudy skies now. 53 degrees. pretty warm at this time of night. winds southwest at six, four degrees warmer than this time last night. temperatures in the 40s in many suburbs. 50s across much of the rest of the area. these are above the average high for this time of the year and it's going to warm up more with southwest winds tomorrow and as a matter of fact we're going for 68 tomorrow and near 70 both sunday and monday. we could be close to record levels on monday as well. some clouds coming through the area. more back to the west but without any rain and the cloud cover is going to be critical as

state after a scoreless opening frame. flyers come out storming in the second. who else? that was a one timer from the point. 1-0 flyers. later, that goes in, tied at one. then huge crowd in front, pokes it by, 2-1 stars, flyers lose 3-1. sunday a big game for the eagles and bills, each team fighting for their playoffs live. eagles tied for the division lead of the nfc east with the giants and redskins. eagles enter sunday's game with a clean bill of health. no one is listed as questionable. sam bradford and matthews on their mind set on sunday. >> we would like our record to be much better than it is. but given where we are in the season it could be tied for the lead in the division and to really control our own destiny these last four weeks that's all you can ask for.
