right now, at 11:00, no coat required. can you believe it is the middle of december? and people in rittenhouse square are walking around without their coats. the warm temperatures are putting us in the record books. we may break records again tomorrow. it will feel more like spring than winter. nbc 10's randy gyllenhaal is checking out the impact the warm weather is having on the weekend activities. but first, meteorologist br brittney shipp is here. >> today we said a new record. our high was 69 degrees.

the old record set back in 1931, 65 degrees. the record high for tomorrow, 65. and our forecast high is right at 70. so again, we are going to make a run for the record. it's hard to believe our average for this time of year is 46 degrees. so we are well above that (t&háhp &hc% but temperature-wise right now, it's even a mild evening out. 66 degrees currently in philadelphia. 53 in pottstown. 56 in dover. so here's a closer look at your wakeup planner. if you're in philadelphia, temperatures at 6:00 a.m. at 54 degrees. by 10:00 a.m., 61. with a few clouds in the sky. by 1:00 p.m., 69 degrees. so even as you head out for lunch, temperatures will be pretty close to 70 degrees. for the suburbs to the north and west of town, 10:00 a.m., 57 degrees. and 1:00 p.m., 66. calling for a high of 70 degrees. i'll go over your eagles tailgating forecast coming up. >> thanks, brittney.

randy gyllenhaal is live in centre city. a lot of people loving these temperatures. >> reporter: record-breaking temperatures. combine the crowds from the army-navy game trickling in. outdoor seating at the restaurants. most people just happy to be outside without a coat on. no need to hibernate just yet, with weather like this. huge crowds ventured outdoors. finishing up holiday shopping, some grabbing last-minute christmas trees on a day when winter temperatures hit close to 70. >> usually a lot colder out here. >> reporter: at the tree lot in spring garden, they said last year was colder, and wetter, bad for business. >> last year was raining every weekend. while i would love it to be more of the christmas spirit, i'm not going to complain. >> reporter: just two weeks before christmas, santa claus and hundreds just like him took to the phillies street.

five firefighters are being treated after their fire truck suddenly caught fire in montgomery county. nbc 10's drew smith is live. drew, how are the firefighters doing? >> reporter: well, good news tonight, denise. i'm told they all should be okay. but this fire was intense enough that all five ended up at the hospital. two were rushed there by ambulance. you can see police are still out here several hours after this thing started. they've got one lane of this road closed off. there's actually debris down the street from where that fire truck was before it got towed away. members of the glad wynn fire company were responding to a call around 7:30. two guys in the back seat started yelling that flames and smoke were coming up from the engine. the fire spreading so quick, they had to rush out before they could radio for help. since the truck wasn't working they couldn't put out the flames themselves. half an hour later, responding trucks got it under control and they towed away the truck. i asked the firefighters if they know what caused it. they said the truck is fairly

new. they're surprised they had the engine trouble. they think it was an engine fire. when they wake up tomorrow, they'll be taking a look at that truck. nbc 10 news. a man in south jersey is being held on child sex assault charges tonight. police in woodbury alerted federal immigration officials about the arrest of juan compos morales on friday. authorities believe he may be in the u.s. illegally. investigators say he assaulted a child under the age of 16 on multiple occasions this year, and last year. a teacher in wood bury was the first to learn about the alleged abuse. morales is held on $500,000 bail. new information on a teenager shot to death inside a broken down car in north philadelphia. police have identified the victim as 15-year-old xavier stern of upper darby. someone found the boy's body in

the car last night. investigators say the car had flat tires, and had not been moved for some time. tonight a north philadelphia community is rallying around a mosque that was targeted by a suspected hate crime this week. now, this surveillance video shows someone throwing a pig's head at the al axa mosque. this was seen as an insult since muslim dietary laws forbid eating pork. today at least a couple hundred people showed up for a picnic at the church. the event organized with the help from the mosque's neighbors, to show solidarity. community members tell us embracing their islamic neighbors is the best way to drive out hate. >> as a community, we wanted to show that we stand completely in solidarity. acts like this that are attempts to divide only bring the community together and stronger. >> people at today's picnic say they hope all of the support will discourage any other crimes targeting this house of worship. a historic day in the fight

against climate change. today nearly 200 nations adopted the first global path to fight climate change. >> translator: the agreement is adopted. >> now, this was the scene at the u.n. climate change conference in france today, after the announcement was made. delegates clapped, cheered, some even wept. the paris agreement does three big things. first, it asks all countries to cut their greenhouse gas emissions. second, it puts a cap on rising global temperatures. and lastly, the agreement puts $100 billion toward developing nations. president obama said the deal is the best chance to save the planet. >> today the american people can be proud, because this historic agreement is a tribute to american leadership. over the past seven years, we've transformed the united states into the global leader in fighting climate change. >> but there is a catch to the deal. it is voluntary. and the pledges the countries have made could end at any time

in a regime change. the navy midshipman have reason to celebrate tonight. they scored their 14th straight victory over the army black knights today. the final score 21-17. now, just before game time, parachuters descended onto the field from the skies above, and planes and choppers flew by overhead. this is the 86th time philadelphia has hosted the army/navy game, a tradition that brings back supporters for tailgating and football year after year. >> the camaraderie between the services. it's also camaraderie between the individuals you went to school with. this is our homecoming. >> the game draws some 50,000 visitors to our area, generating an economic impact of $35 million. and the cost to the taxpayers to the scandal keep going up.

adorning the graves at a military cemetery. a wreath laying ceremony happened this morning at philadelphia's mt. moriah cemetery. it honored 1,044 veterans going back to the civil war. nationwide it was wreath across america day. 125ñ.: local children are feeling the joy at both giving and receiving after they got to go on a shopping spree today. the philadelphia frontiers international hosted their 17th annual christmas shopping for children today at the walmart in wyncote. they're given $75 to buy gifts for themselves or their family and siblings. in montgomery county today, the budweiser clydesdale was the highlight of the annual tree lighting ceremony. the famous horses hitched to a

holiday wagon, dropped off to beer to businesses along the parade route. now, your nbc 10 first alert weather. with meteorologist brittney shipp. >> good evening. we're going to warm temperatures up even more as we head into tomorrow. we already broke a record today. we expect to break another one heading into your sunday. plus, we have a warm eagles forecast for you. i'm tracking changes by monday. we'll see rain moving in by tuesday. cooler temperatures in store for us. in philadelphia, 56 degrees right now. winds out of the west-southwest at 7 miles per hour. 58 in trenton. 52 in wildwood. 56 in mount holly. 54 currently in lancaster. 53 degrees right now in reading. the temperature trend shows that we ended the week in the low 60s. we warmed up to 69 degrees today. take a look at sunday. 70 degrees. we do expect to break the record which is 65 degrees.

our average for this time of year, only 46. so we are well above that average. in fact, we're going to be even 20 to 25 degrees above normal. as high pressure stays in control over our area. satellite radar shows we're seeing a few clouds moving in from the west. we'll wake up to a little bit of patchy fog as well. but we'll stay dry throughout the entire day. we're already tracking our next weather maker, and that's going to be this system here. we have a cold front through the grat lakes. we also have more moisture coming up from the south. this is going to combine and come closer to us as we get ready to head home on monday. closer to 6:00 p.m., that's when the rain starts to move through. these will be on-and-off showers into monday. as we head into tuesday, we'll see cooler air moving in. that's going to be associated with a cold front. and that's going to help drop our temperatures about ten degrees. the other thing we have on tap for tomorrow is an air quality alert for sunday. that's going to be for philadelphia, most of our suburbs to the north and west of town it's going to be a code

whoever has the best record of these four games will go to the play-offs, and ultimately in order to win the whole thing you have to get to the play-offs. >> the phillies today closed the deal on the ken giles trade to the astros. it turned out to be better than we thought. phillies actually got the number one overall draft pick from the 2013 draft. he's considered to be one of the astros' best prospects. phillies end up with five pitchers in the trade. ken giles tweeted a thank you to the fans. p.s. fans, thanks for booing me for not throwing 100 miles per hour on my debut. sixers reportedly talking to mike d'antoni. he worked for jerry in phoenix. milwaukee fans tonight had their 24-1 shirts on. it happened. michael carter williams, helping the bucs.

strauseburg. authorities tell us the scene is secure. we're working to get more information. we'll have an update tomorrow morning on nbc 10 news "today," as well as nbc10.com. a soldier and his dog are recovering side by side. army specialist andrew brown and his military dog rocky were hurt by a roadside bomb in afghanistan this week. they're now getting treated in the same room. this photo of rocky recovering with a purple heart pinned to his collar has been shared more than 92,000 times. we hope a full recovery for them both. and this weather's pretty incredib incredible. >> another round tomorrow of 70 degrees. great for all of our eagles tailgaters out there. and then we cool down next week.
