nothing. she was involved. >> now prosecutors won't say if they will ask for jail time at this point. two men involved in the assault have already pled guilty. the plea deals allowed them to escape jail time. knot's attorney says despite the fact she went to trial here, she didn't spare the victims, a trial that she had a constitutional right to go to trial and that should not come into consideration when she goes for sentencing. nbc 10 news. >> a case of stolen evidence has led investigators to a delaware county police officer. now he is facing criminal charges. harry harrison is live with more on the accusations against this officer. >> that officer's name is brad roth, a 17-year veteran of the upper darby police department. today he's stealing evidence to feed a drug addiction.

he allegedly became addicted to pain killers after an accident in 2012. another investigator noticed something was wrong with an evidence bag and that sparked the investigation. he faces evidence tampering charge and theft. >> there were 230 -- or 203 instances where evidence had been tampered with and out of that, there was approximately the 3,700 pills and strips that were taken as well as over $14,000 in cash, eight cell phones, gift cards and jewelry were all removed from the evidence room at that point in time. >> upper darby's politician superintendent thanked the district attorney for a complete and professional investigation. roth resigned in march. tonight he's out on bail.

>> college has released the name of a student killed in a car crash last night. michelle buck, sophomore, died after being hit on main street in collegeville. she was a dean's list student well liked by her professors and pierce. -- peers. >> a 10-month-old girl died this week and we're learning new detailed about the investigation that shut down the day care. our reporter has the details. lauren? >> the state is taking drastic action now. this is not the first time this center has come on to their radar. of course now it comes after the death of that little girl. a memorial has grown up here in her honor with teddy bears, all in the midst of an investigation. the metal door is down over the entrance to the sisters childcare 2 on german town

avenue. it's wheres dozens of children used to play but officials say now it could pose a danger to kids who go here. his granddaughters went here until it was closed after a little girl's death. >> i'm surprised. >> pennsylvania officials$o sa the little girl became ill that day but the staff didn't pay attention and didn't call noip when they realized she needed help. a record from the department of human services lays out violations including no emergency contact for the child and no one on site with first aid or cpr training. there were 39 children there that day and only four staffers. we found staff to child ratios have been a problem in the past. dirty bathrooms. state officials say the recent

heefz received poor medical care while serving his life sentence. he testified by video in a court in scranton today. he has hepatitis c and other health problems. he claims he suffered painful itching and swelling from a rash that covered his body. he told the judge about an episode in which he fell unconscious and went into die bethic shock. he spent nearly 30 years on death row for the 1981 death of philadelphia police officer daniel faulkner. the sentence was overturned. he's now spending life in prison. >> starting today, marijuana is officially decriminalized in the state. that means if you're caught with an ounce or less, you'll be punished by a fine of $100 instead of a hefty fine or possible jail time.

the crime is considered a civil offense instead of a criminal one. >> there may be an end in sight to the budget stalemate. the governor's office says it has the support needed to pass legislation in the house. a vote is planned saturday. details of the detail are not being made public. if it passes a vote on the main spending bill will come next. it's been six months since the state had a budget. social service agencies and schools have been heavily impacted. congress is sending president obama a more than $1 trillion bill avoiding a federal shutdown. it includes tax breaks for businesses and working families and increases defense spending. president obama plans to sign it into law. also included in the bill was a bill to increase funding for homelessness. our exclusive, faces of homeless youth raises awareness of the

atlantic city will soon have hundreds of new ways to watch you on the board walk. the city is getting millions to put up new surveillance cameras. some say all those extra eyes go just too far. >> our reporter is live on the board walk to explain why the city wants the cameras. ted? >> good evening. most of the surveillance cameras you see on the board walk are operated by casinos. there's currently no network of city controlled cameras but that's about to change. you don't have to look far on atlantic city's board walk to see surveillance cameras, and many more will also soon be focused on the famous wooden way. >> i think it's a great idea. >> fafr. >> yeah, it's safer. >> people might be less apt to do something. >> some 230 surveillance cameras are set to go up on the boardwalk next year, part of an $11 million project funded

a virginia school system was forced to cancel classes today after backlash about a lesson about islam. they called it islamic indoctrination. one of the phrases they were required to write was an islamic claim of faith. they thought they had to close the school as a precautionary measure. a statement saying, as we have emphasized, no lesson was designed to promote a religious viewpoint or change any student's religious belief. it will not be used in the future." a new jersey crew found a poisonous passenger in port

the wind 15 miles an hour gusting up towards 30. 11 degrees colder than it was this time yesterday. we're already seeing a bit of a difference. these temperatures are close to the average numbers for this time of the year. but we haven't seen numbers like this. we have not seen afternoon numbers in the 40s as we've gone through this no. november was the second-warmest november ever recorded. so it's been quite a while since we've seen anything really cold. there are the sprinkles that have moved offshoir during the afternoon. this is what it's going to be feeling like tonight. by 8:00 down to 28 degrees in redding. it's been a long time since it's felt like 28 degrees anywhere in our area. by mooipt it's about that, right in the city of philadelphia. so if you're headed out, you're going to have wind to deal with and the cold comes through to build things. that canyon effect makes it feel twice adds windy sometimes. by morning, 19 degrees for our

wind chill in allentown. then it doesn't warm up that much during the day tomorrow. it never gets out of the 20s. as far as the way it's going to feel in the areas including trenton, new jersey. tomorrow night, another cold one. sounds just about as cold as tonight. sunday morning, pretty cold but not that windy. so not as much of a wind chill. sunday afternoon, not feeling quite as cold as saturday afternoon. then it warms up after that. so by sunday night, when the eagles are playing, we're starting our warmup a little bit, so it's not going to be that cold. it's not going to be very windy. 41 at kickoff. 38 for the fourth quarter. remember, it was 70 degrees last sunday. so next week we've got some pretty warm weather. the record on the 23rd of 66. we're predicting 64. the record on christmas eve is 64. i'm still going for 70.
