20 degrees or less. anyone in the county seeking warmth can go to the coordinated homeless outreach center in northwest. >> nbc 10's meteorologist sheena parveen breaks it down. >> we're going to see the cold snap just for the weekend. we have a roller coaster temperature rise and then we'll go back up next week. the clouds have stuck in place. they'll slowly clear overnight. look at what's happened since yesterday. temperatures are about 10 to 15 degrees colder across the area and it's going to be even colder as we go into tomorrow. actual temperatures right now are in the 40s, midded to low forecasts for most of the area. 42 in wilmington, now the average high temperature is 44 degrees this time of the year. right now we're a little bit closer to that. but we were warmer this afternoon, even though we are still colder relatively speaking when you count those very warm

days that we had over last weekend. by 7:00 p.m. tonight, temperatures in the mid 40s. still breezy. by 11:00, 39 degrees, still breezy. feeling colder. tomorrow will be windier than told. by 8:00, actual temperature around 31 but the wind will make it feel ten degrees colder than that. we have a warm-up next week. we'll look at how warm it will get coming up. jierkts a -- 25-year-old katherine knott is guilty of assault and endangerment charges recommended to an attack on a gay couple but not guilty on other charges. >> reporter: mixed reactions. the prosecution got guilty verdicts. the defense, are happy because katherine knott will not be a

convicted felon. they're very happy with the outcome of the trial. >> i am so offend by everything about her, by the fact that she's female, by the fact that she's catholic, which drives me crazy. i'm catholic and the fact that another catholic -- they all went to catholic schools. what is wrong with them? and the fact this she came into my city and did this to people that she knew nothing about. it's wrong. >> jurors say they are angry at katherine knott and all those who were there, those who took part and those who didn't call for help. that night two homosexual men were attacked. two men pleaded to assault and conspiracy charges in the fall. they got zero jail time in exchange for the plea deal. knot could face time in jail. prosecutors will not say if they will ask a judge for that. they say she was --

>> she has a right to consider what he would like and he has a right to ask for whatever he wants. think about it. take a step back and use common sense. she exercised her constitutional right. she went to trial. that's her rights. i hope it's not at the point in this country where we punish people for doing what the constitution says we can. >> reporter: now, sentencing will be in february. we reached out to a spokesperson for the victims. they say that they did not want a trial here. they would have liked it if she had taken a plea deal. instead, this was the outcome they got and they are satisfied with it. a philadelphia childcare center where a baby died earlier this week is now closed. today state officials say the center operated with gross incompetence and misconduct. a memorial sits outside the childcare in north philadelphia. teddy bears and messages were left for the 10-month-old girl.

a man whose granddaughters attended the center told incomes 10 he was impressed with the facility. >> anytime you had any problems, they were there for you. they were really good. i think the school is great. i'm surprised what happened with the little child here. >> a report from the state says no one on site had current cpr training, no one called 911 when the child was unresponsive and instead walked the baby girl to the hospital. new at 5:00, a fresh start for men. the president commuted their sentences today. it's parts of giving a second chance to offenders. they all had life or lengthy sentences for drug crimes. the other men are from redding and lawrenceville. the president did the very same for a total of 95 prisoners nationwide. it's the most issued at one time by president obama. delaware residents no longer

have to worry about going to jail if caught with small amounts of marijuana. one community is celebrating. delaware's norml group is sell greating. you'll be punished by a fine of a hundred dollars instead of jail time. former philadelphia sheriff john green is charged with fraud and conspiracy. an indictment alleges he had a deal with the owner of a title company. giving davis's company first dibs on contracts. in exchange davis is accused of giving green extensive personal gifts. if convicted both men face more than 85 years in prison. an upper darby police officer is facing time behind bars for allegedly stealing from the evidence room to feed his own drug habit. brad ross is accused of stealing pills, money, gift cards and

more from the evidence room. prosecutors say he became addicted to prescription pills after a car accident. another investigator who saw something wrong with an evidence bag started the investigation. in february ross's home was searched. >> werp actually able to -- we were actually able to remove from his house a pill bottle that was taken from the evidence room and contained opioid press conferences that was going to be used to prosecute a criminal case. >> ross resigned from the police department in march. he's out of jail on 50,000 dollars bail. police officers will hit the streets of new jersey. recruits graduated from the camden county police academy. they'll join plif departments. the ceremony included a special moment when family members who work in law enforcement pin the badges on some of the new officers. we have new information about a haigs blurg teenager

accused of supporting isis. here's the first look at jalil ibn ameer aziz, accused of using twitter to build support for an attack in the u.s. 57 different twitter accounts were traced to his house. in one tweet he threatened to behead president obama. the feds say he also tweeted about pennsylvania's gun laws writing "pennsylvania has very light gun laws, it's very easy to arm yourself. f". tonight, the nbc 10 investigators get action just weeks after reporting on a head stone company that failed to deliver. >> a local woman says she can honor her deceased nutt way she planned. >> reporter: dozens of families filed complaints against the company. now following our story, at least one of those families say they've been made whole since we shared their story with you. >> finally some closure.

pennsylvania filed complaints about the company. the pennsylvania bureau protection tells us they took money from more than 50 families and never delivered on their promise. first at his office, then at his home. we tried to reach the owner for three days. but no one has responded to our messages or phone calls. turner tells us she's glad we responded to her call for help. >> i want to thank the whole channel 10e investigative team. thank you so very much. >> reporter: just a short time ago i spoke with the bureau of consumer protection. he tells me the state is moving forward with this lawsuit against life stones to make all victims whole. for the investigators, harry hairston, nbc news. new information tonight about dozened of cats rescued from a gloucester county home. the spca says there were 73 cats in the house along 6th avenue

the case. they claim roper could not get a fair trial. the comedian suffered serious injuries. his friend james mcnair was killed. morgan settled his lawsuit with walmart just before the one-year anniversary of that crash. lawyers for the chicago police officer accused of shooting an unarmed teenager plans to seek a change in jen venue. jason van dyke faces six counts of first-degree murder. he allegedly shot 17-year-old laquan mcdodged 16 times. van dyke's attorney blames chicago's mayor for indicting his client in the parcells. former subway pitchman jared fogle has been moved to a low security facility in colorado that specializes in sex offender treatment. he pled guilty to charges.

even overnight tonight. here's a look at 7:00 p.m. tonight till 7:00 tomorrow morning. we will keep dropping down, pretty steady drop in temperatures. so by about 11:00 p.m. we should be in the 30s in the philadelphia area, could be close to 30s in the north and west. tomorrow morning, right below freezing but it will feel like the 20s because of the wind. today's windy but not as windy as it's going to be tomorrow. the clouds are locked in place. we'll see gradual clearing overnight and tomorrow mortgage. snowshowers off to our wers and northwest and with such a strong wind tomorrow and late tonight we could see some noirs or light -- flurries or light snow in the poconos. tomorrow morning, this is the future feels-like temperatures when you add in the wind. could be feeling like 21 guess in philadelphia. could be feeling like 19 in allentown, redding.

funded programs that work to end youth homelessness. one senator was inspired to pass the bill after seeing an nbc 10 exclusive. >> greatly preach the work they're doing on the news coverage on this is a great assist or a great aid in making sure we can highlight the problem and be able to apply solutions. 9/11 responders were on capitol hill today celebrating a bill that helps pay the medical costs of emergency workers injured while aiding attack victims. the bill extends the world trade center program through 2090. it's named in honor of new jersey resident jim negroza who died as a result of breathing in toxic fumes. some became emotional today

talking about the health issues. >> a lot of people are going to get that christmas present that part of the uncertainty is removed. >> first responders fought for years to get congress to re-up the bill. the federal drug administration wants to ban anyone under 18 from using indoor tanning beds. under the proposal adults would have to sign a form acknowledging the risks associated with tanning beds. the fda has regulated tanning beds for decades but this is the first time the agency has recommended a ban for children and teenagers. members of the american cancer society say it's an important step to help reduce skin cancer and related deaths. some good news tonight about the flu. it's off to a slow start, especially compared to the past three years. health officials say only south carolina is reporting significant flu cases. flu season usually kicks off

the new "star wars" movie is out of the world when it comes to box office records. it brought in an estimated $57 million in last night's opening. just within the past 20 minutes, disney says sales for today are on pace to stop a hundred mool dollars. north jersey pastor and star wars enthusiast is using the star war force to tell the

a routine traffic stop leads to an officer getting punched and a shootout. it was all caught on tape. take a look. >> put your hands on the -- >> no problem. >> do you know -- >> no, no, no, no. >> put your hands on the hood. >> the officer pulled over 53-year-old andrew coffee on a mow pedestrian. coffee started sucker punching the officer, then shooting at him. coffee just got out of prison after serving # 21 years for attempted murder. delaware state police say a trooper shot and wounded a suspect who refused to drop a gun. that trooper was confronted by the man while he was responding to a report of a robbery at a home on salem church road in newark last night. the suspect is in serious but stable condition.

a second suspect in the home was arrested. a third is still on the loose. the trooper is on administrative lead while the shooting is investigated. president obama outlines his agenda for the rest of his term. he took some tough questions about terrorism and the massive spending bill congress passed today. edward lawrence looks at the big issues the president hit. >> reporter: president obama praised congress for passing the budget deal that includes tax cuts. >> i'm not wild about everything in it. i'm sure that's true for everybody, but it is a budget that, as i insisted, vefts in our military -- invests in our military without idea logical provision that would have weakend wall street reform. >> reporter: passage avoids a government shutdown. >> i wanted to end those kind of rattling speerns that the american people don't like. >> reporter: on the fight

miracle needed to make her a saint. that miracle concerned a man in brazil with a brain disease who was cured after his wife trade to mother teresa. no date has been set for the canonization but media speculates it will take place on the 19th anniversary of her death. she won the 1979 nobel price for her work caring for the poorest children in the world. if you're looking for a christmas tree, we have the spot for you. kelly's tree lot on kirkwood highway has been selling trees at religion prices. some customers even buy trees and leave them there until a less fortunate family comes along to take them home. kelly's also donates most of its profits. a friend's son has the disorder and kelly's wants their tree properties to help find a cure. this is not the most profitable

well, finally feeling a little bit more like winter today, but come this weekend, it's going to feel a lot more like winter. the clouds will start to clear out, too. across both saturday and sunday, temperatures will be more seasonable for this time of year. in fact, it's going to be the coldest that we've seen so far this december. it's been so warm out. then we go into next week and the cold air is not going to stick around. it's going to move back up north and we could see some record highs heading toward christmas. today so far we got to 47 degrees. saturday down to 41. sujd, mid 40s. so that's right around normal for this time of year. monday we jump to near 60 degrees. then we keep warming up into christmas eve and christmas day. 32 right now in the poconos. mid 40s, philadelphia. if you are heading out for this
