pocono mountains, this is a view from blue mountain. the rest of the area will see cloudy skies and cool conditions. it's completely dry, nothing falling from the clouds. the temperatures have been coming down. we're at 36 in philadelphia, but in spite of clouds through the day today, we'll see a big warm-up and wind up at 56 degrees this afternoon. we'll go through the forecast when i'm back. katy zachry is following your first alert traffic. >> good morning. things are looking good. your drive time on 76 eastbound from the blue route to center city philadelphia is about 13 minutes, 95 southbound as you head between woodhaven and the vine, a minute more, and then the blue route is good as you go southbound between the schuylkill expressway and 95, 16 minutes average on most of our majors in the upper 50s, low 60s. i've seen a little more traffic on the roadways this morning. that might be because of the impending holiday. more cars are on the roads, more trucks are delivering things. we'll take a live look at route

70 and route 38 in camden as well as the schuylkill expressway. tracy. >> we'll see you then. new from overnight police arrested a suspect in a triple shooting that killed one man, nbc 10 was on the scene on gilbert street. police tells us gun fire broke out around midnight. the two surviving victims are in stable condition. not clear what led to the shooting. a man was taken to the hospital a couple hours ago after being burned in a fire. firefighters were called to this house on north 64th in west philadelphia. it took about a half hour to get the fire out. investigators are looking into a cause. >> it's 4:02. today the pennsylvania supreme court justice at the center of that pornographic e-mail scandal will answer questions why he thinks he should stay on the bench. matt delucia is live in our digital operations center to explain. >> this hearing by the pennsylvania court of judicial discipline will decide whether to suspend justice michael eakin as he awaits trial for

exchanging inappropriate e-mails. the court will hold the hearing later this morning. one of the outcomes could vote for an i want rim suspension and final ruling from the court later. the state's judicial conduct board is arguing that justice eakin violated rules on the high court. this is fallout from kathleen kane's investigation that found many e-mails with racist and homophobic content. justice eakin has served on the pennsylvania supreme court for the past 13 years. he has apologized for the e-mails in question, said back in october that the messages do not reflect his character or beliefs and have not been related to any case he has presided over in court. one of the judges on the court of judicial discipline says the e-mails may have damaged the public confidence in the high court. we'll keep an eye when that hearing gets underway. live in the digital operations center, matt delucia, "nbc 10 news." >> one person is dead and more

than 35 recovering after a driver plowed into a crowd on the vegas strip and this morning police believe it was intentional. the car jumped the curb, barreled down a crowded sidewalk in front of the paris hotel and casino. witnesses say what they saw was hard to believe. >> i saw like people fly in the air, the car hit them and it was like a bowling ball hitting pins. >> police are interviewing the driver and testing her for alcohol and controlled substances. police say there was a 3-year-old in the car with the driver. that toddler was not hurt. >> a fiery crash in northeast philadelphia on sunday morning claimed the lives of three people including two young women. friends and family hugged in the street near the site. they lit candles to remember the young girls killed. >> just the sweetest person. i miss her so much. >> tried to do everything i could to get them out of that

vehicle. i tried. and i'm sorry i couldn't. >> that man saw the crash and tried to save the three people in the car but it was too late. the car went up in flames after hitting a semi truck parked. police say the car was speeding when it smashed into the truck. they are looking into whether the truck was parked illegally on the street. >> two philadelphia police officers are recovering after crashing their cruiser yesterday. the officers were heading to a call when they crashed at south 53rd and springfield. both officers went to the hospital but expected to be okay. >> church members be keeping the faith after their house of worship burned down. and yesterday the pastor of the new jerusalem missionary church led""ç worship at a nonprofit. here is how the fire looked from a viewer's drone. this is the second fire at that church in the last two weeks. still the pastor says the congregation is staying strong.

new detail it is this morning about the man believed to have coordinated last month's deadly terrorist attack in paris. a french newspaper is reporting that he hid in bushes for days after the attack. he was killed by police five days after the paris attack. the french paper says investigators used a cell phone to confirm where he had been hiding. >> a fake explosive forced a paris bound flight to make an emergency landing in kenya yesterday. it was made out of card board, paper and a kitchen timer. it's the fourth bomb hoax against air france in the past few weeks found in the plane's bathroom. pangs used slides to get off the plane after it landed. >> just went down slowly, so we

realized probably something was wrong. >> they said a technical problem. just not make us scared. >> police are talking to six people including the person who found the fake bomb. >> it's 4:14. some schools in new hampshire are closed after a violent threat. police say nashua -- a school administrator received an e-mail threatening harm to staff and students at two of the schools in the district. police are trying to confirm if the threat is credible but they say the school closed as a precaution. it's the latest school threat across the country, los angeles, new york and miami all received threats last week. the manhunt continues this morning for the texas teen who claimed his family's wealthy lifestyle was the reason he drove drunk, killing four people. he missed a meeting with his probation officer. a judge issued a warrant for his arrest. so far no one has been able to

find him. the u.s. marshal believes someone must be helping him hide from police, it might be his mom who also went missing. this video appears to show him and friends playing beer pong. if he violates probation he could go to jail since his defense in 2013, and unexpected 10-year probation, there have been complaints of special treatment for the wealthy. >> i think accountability for him would come in the form of swift and certain and severe punishment. >> his lawyers are not commenting on his disappearance. >> the grandson of former president jimmy carter is dead. carter shared the news with the congrags of his church yesterday. jeremy carter was 28, former president said his grandson wasn't feeling well saturday night and had to lay down, carter said when his mother went to check on him his heart had stopped beating. >> took him to the hospital. we got there i guess about 1:30

this morning, and his -- after we were there about 20 minutes his heart stopped beating again. so they decided to give him cpr but he passed away. >> it's not clear what caused jeremy carter's death. >> the leader after scout troop is telling how he survived a bear attack in north jersey. it happened yesterday at split rock reservoir in morris county. the bear went after the troop leader when he went into a cave. brian thompson tells us how his scouts helped save him. >> reporter: it was an amazing tale of boy scout training saving a life, that of their scout master. their scout master was rescued after investigating the cave and awakening a bear. the police chief. >> once the bear awoke he attacked the scout master who called out to the scouts that he had been attacked by a bear and

call 911. >> reporter: then the story became the kind of a tale likely to become an instant legend among scouts. >> they actually used snacks, they threw it at the entrance to the cave and attempt to lure him out and away from the scout master. >> the bear kept mauling the scout master, then police radio captures the next dramatic moment. >> we have the youth yelling out loud and they also have started a fire, possibly for a smoke signal. >> but deep in this forest, it wasn't a signal, it was a last gasp effort to save their scout master. >> they built a signal fire that they also used the smoke to drive the bear out of the cave which worked, the bear exiting the cave and enabling the scout master to extricate himself. >> it will remain the fate of this bear, but for the scout master, well, rockaway's mayor

temperatures will climb in spite of those clouds into the 50s this afternoon. we'll see southwest winds to 12 miles an hour today. your seven-day forecast tomorrow, well, going to get a milder start. 50 in the morning and look at that. 62 degrees tomorrow afternoon. that's in spite of some rain showers. the best chance of rain showers for tuesday will be in the morning and early in the afternoon. by late in the afternoon the clouds will be thinning out. a little bit of sunshine. but the sunshine will not win out on wednesday. a steady rain. along with more warm air. 66 degrees wednesday afternoon. and then record temperatures for christmas eve. 73 would break the record of 64 that we set last year on christmas eve. and for christmas day friday, mild, 63 degrees. clouds, some breaks of sunshine and a chance of an evening shower on christmas evening into saturday when we'll see showers that will bring the temperatures down a little bit. certainly not normal december levels. and look at sunday. back in the 60s with a high of

62 in philadelphia. >> bill, thanks. 20 minutes past 4:00. let's get you to work on this monday morning. the pennsylvania turnpike, katy zachry is watching the roads. >> things are pretty smooth on the pennsylvania turnpike as you'll see from the drive times i show behind me. this is the pennsylvania turnpike. there is limited construction but it's not tying anything up. drive times between route 1 and the exit for valley forge is about 23 minutes right now. a minute under if you're going the opposite direction. if you are headed to the mid county toll plaza you have an easy right there. and you can see few cars on the roadway along 476 right up at ridge pike, north to the lehigh valley or the poconos, route 78 at seeder crest boulevard, light in the allentown area. 295 and the 42 freeway look pretty good though you'll find long term construction where 295 meet. southbound on 295 between 38 and
