t >> let's begin with our chief meteorologist. old man winter is giving us a break. >> that puts it mildly. you're not going to believe some of the temperatures that are going to be in the seven-day forecast. we'll be not just breaking records, we're going to be smashing records. right now we have cloudy sky said, but despite the clouds, the temperature is up quite a bit. it's already in the 50s and 56 degrees after we've spent the weekend and the 40s. tomorrow, it's 60 and then it goes up from there . remember the average high is 43. it's 55 right now. it's in the upper 40s to the north and west. it's already warm. it will get warmer. we have a few sprinkles to the west, more significant rain in western pennsylvania and some of that will be coming in after

bill cosby continues to fight back against his accusers. today the former comedian filed a countersuit against model beverly johnson. johnson accused cosby of drugging and sexually assaulting her. last week, cosby countersued seven other women who accused him of sexual misconduct. more trouble for chip oat lai restaurant after reports of another ee. coli out break. between november 18th and the 26th. since october, 53 people in nine states have been infected with e. coli traced back to chipoult lai. to information on the fiery crash that killed three people in philadelphia's holmesburg

been reporting on this for the past year. what the district attorney made very clear it's the same woman he talked to, we talked to and that was paula brown out there who was the former borough manager. we gotten documents from the borough hall. the same documents the da got that led to charges against three fire company officials. two others still on the loose. you got anything to say? gary price, the fire chief is charge would stealing it taxpayer money that was supposed to be used to support the volunteer fire department. he was arrested this morning at his home where investigators say he lived with two fire administrators also charged today. betty saliny and her daughter. district attorney says lauren acted as the treasurer and her mother was the president. >> lauren was writing checks as the treasurer to her mother, betty, for over $9,000 worth of

checks that are unsubstantiated. >> reporter: investigators say lauren wrote checks to bryce to thousands of dollars as well. how much do you think they took? >> over 40,000. the affidavit talked about $50,000. we've been documenting it. at this point it's still an open investigation in the fire house. we're looking to see if there will be more moneys that will be obtained, located and subsequently added to the amount. >> reporter: now, as we reported just a few weeks ago, those fire officials were suspended by the board. they now have new officials in those positions. reporting live in media, hairy hairston. >> from her delaware bureau, items placed too close to a space heater sparked this house fire. a viewer captured the fire. it started just before 10:00. a 41-year-old man was treated for smoke inhalation.

seven people who lived in the home are looking for another place to stay. there were no smoke detectors inside. to the latest on the pennsylvania budget. the governor is threatening to veto a republican backed short term emergency spending package as the budget stalemate is stalling past christmas. that proposal included raising taxes to help fund schools. pennsylvania has been without a budget since july first. meantime, seven parents of philadelphia public school students are celebrating a victory in their lawsuit against the pennsylvania department of education. they say the department has acknowledged curriculum deficiencies in four philadelphia schools as a result of budget cuts. >> in fact can hold the state accountable for the horrible conditions in the philadelphia schools. we will continue to keep the pressure on the department of education, and the district to insure our kids have access to

high quality school systems. >> the department has ordered the school district to create active plans within 45 days. a pennsylvania court is deciding whether to suspend a supreme court justice over pornographic e-mails. he told his story at a hearing today. we are live where that hearing has been taking place. he told his story and justice aiken was emotional while testifying today. >> reporter: he was. he choked up a number of times on the stand. he's fighting to hold on to his spot at the bench of the pennsylvania supreme court after his private e-mails were released by attorney general kathleen cain. he said he always intended for those e-mails to remain private. he took great steps to create an e-mail account that was not associated with his name or supreme court in order to community with a closed network of friends. he says he conducted this

behavior, was involved in this behavior for about half a dozen years he says. he says in the last year, that he hasn't sent any of these e-mails. and he also took the stand today saying that some of his greatest achievements have been with the work of domestic violence as well as the job he did as district attorney in cumberland county. experts say the e-mails should not be used to him because they were never made to be public. he took steps to make them private. he took the stand late today and at times he got very emotional. he said there's been no way for him to respond to any of the critics. the e-mails have nothing to do with his performance on the job. he apologized to his mother, father, wife, children and says he shouldn't be punished for what his friends have said. and the media covering the case, when he entered the courthouse, i asked him what he wanted to say. this is what we told us this morning. >> the only comment is we're here at the request of the court. we're here to answer what they

want us to answer. i trust you'll all hear it. and i trust you'll fairly report it. >> reporter: now, the hearing has wrapped up just within the last 15 minutes. the three judge panel has not made any decision. we are awaiting the justice to come out of the courthouse to g his comment to us. nbc 10 news. police departments throughout new jersey are getting money to equip officers with body cameras. the state announces $2.5 million grant today. 176 police departments will share the money. in the end it will mean 5,000 body cameras for those departments. it's designed to promote accountability and trust. we've learned members of a college wristling team from bucks county were among those hurt in this crash on the vegas strip. a driver is charged with murder after police say she intentionally drown on and off

merry christmas. >> the santa express is on the move today, making the holiday a lot brighter for philadelphia families in need. this is the philadelphia parking authority's 13th annual santa express. they helped load vans, with toys and food baskets to make special deliveries. can you believe the official start of winter is tonight. taking a live look at center city. the forecast this week could break some huge records. >> we may be talking about this christmas eve, 20, 30 years from now. that's how extreme it's going to be. we're not just breaking records, we're obliterating records this week. all right, we're going back into the 70s. believe it or not. officially starting winter. we're tracking some rain. so it's going to be warm despite clouds and some wet weather. and like i said we'll smash records here for christmas eve.

we have cloudy skies right now. but that hasn't stopped the temperature from getting up to 55 degrees. the wind west southwest at ten miles per hour. we were in the 40s the last couple of days, but now we've jumped up in the upper 40s. r they're going to be setting records later this week as well. 57 in mount holly and in millville, 56. in dover. this is going to seem chilly compared to what is coming later on this week. and the temperature, 13 degrees warmer than it was this time yesterday. millville, 17 degrees warmer. and, again, it's going up from there. and why? because air is coming from the west and southwest. 65 degrees in little rock, arkansas, 70 in dallas. this cold air, that's not coming anywhere near us. for at least a week.

we do have rain approaching, mainly in western pennsylvania. so we're talking about the chance of showers for late tonight. it's not a real strong system. but there are going to be several of them coming through during the week. so here is a future cast, you can see temperatures staying in the 50s. just about all night tonight. so it's a mild night. way milder than this weekend was. showers, especially to the north and west. late tonight and into the morning hours, but look at the temperatures going into the 60s here as we go through 4:00. that's pretty warm. and then on wednesday, we have a stronger weather system coming in to give us more rain. again, look at this, at night we're in the 50s. here comes the rain as we go into wednesday. it's coming in and that looks like it's going to be on the heavier side, at least for a portion of the day. cloudy, milder with a chance of showers late tonight.

breaking news right now. we have just learned the bus driver seen in this video we showed you a few minutes ago has been suspended without pay. you see the driver approach a woman standing in the center of the aisle of the bus and he throws what appears to be a bottle of water in her face as she tries to push him away. the incident happened on friday. again, septa telling us it has suspended the driver without pay. christmas is four days away. the u.s. postal service says today is their busiest day of the year. they expect to handle 30 million items alone and 15 billion pieces of mail for the season. we found a lot of people trying to get their shipments out in time at this post office in center city, philadelphia. the postal service says you can use priority mail today or

september. authorities arrested a 38-year-old from wilmington they say he thought a 25-year-old patron in september. the man survived. there's a battle heating up over a historic war site in mercer county. lawmakers held a hearing about plans 21 acres. 15 homes were announced would be built on the site. they're working on getting a restraining order to prevent construction. a thief caught on camera in west philadelphia. this is not the strongest crook on record. he tried to rip his way into the cash cashier's booth. he reaches through the window and grabs $200. in bellumegium police are expected to release a report after two men were arrested in connection to the deadly terror attacks in paris.

take a look at the scene in brussels yesterday where police raided a home. the raid lasts five hours. police took two men into custody for questioning. investigators have not given any further details. there are new details about the man believed to have coordinated the attacks last months in paris. abaaoud hit in bushes for four days. police shot and killed him five days after the attack. a boy scout leader who was pulled into a cave and attacked by a bear this weekend is expected to be home for christmas. >> wild life officials are trying to trap the bear responsible for the attack. it happened yesterday at split rock reservoir in morris county e. the bear bit the scout leader's leg and shoulders while the man hit it with a hammer. the boy scout troop called 911 and placed food outside the cave trying to lure the bear out.

older women with gum disease may be more likely to develop breast cancer, especially if they were smokers. that's according to a new study of 700,000 post menopausal women. it found those with paradontal disease were 14% more likely to develop breast cancer than those with healthy gums. that risk jumps to 36% among women who smoked within the past 20 years. star wars the force awakens

it's been over seven months since the deadly amtrak train derailment in port richmond. >> safety technology that could have prevented the crash is in place on track between philadelphia and new york. nbc 10's keith jones is live in our digital operations center is live with more. >> ptc, it was activated over the weekend on amtrak tracks between philadelphia and o'rourke. it automatically slow as train that's moving too fast or in danger of derailing. it's now in place along amtrak's entire northeast corridor. it was back in may of this year that a train derailed in port richmond. eight people were killed, 200 were hurt. the train was going more than twice the speed limit.

around motels that police say have become a safe haven for released criminals. on wednesday, police arrested charles mosley for allegedly sexually assaulting the missing teenager before she was killed. police say he was living at the birch hotel. and two others who gave information to police about the days before her murder, both charged with armed robbery. they lived at the beach house motel. her family is desperate for answers as to who killed and her and why. and say the street crimes unit will bring her back now. >> there is deeper roots here that need to be addressed other than just the motels. >> he says his message to offenders listening should be crystal clear. >> if you are going to engage in criminal activity in rio grand, especially in and around our motels. we will find you and we will arrest you. bottom line.
