happy birthday. i just had a heart attack... and now i have a choice. for her. for them. and him. a choice to take brilinta. a prescription for people who've been hospitalized for a heart attack. i take brilinta with a baby aspirin ...no more than 100 mg. as it affects how well it works. it's such an important thing to do to help protect against another heart attack. brilinta worked better than plavix. and even reduced the chances of dying from another one. don't stop taking brilinta without talking to doctor. since stopping it too soon increases your risk of clots in your stent, heart attack, stroke, and even death. brilinta may cause bruising or bleeding more easily or serious, sometimes fatal bleeding.
6:22 pm
don't take brilinta if you have bleeding, like stomach ulcers. a history of bleeding in the brain, or severe liver problems. tell your doctor about bleeding, new or unexpected shortness of breath, any planned surgery and all medicines you take. i will take brilinta today. tomorrow. and every day for as long as my doctor tells me. don't miss a day of brilinta.

time to check in kristen welker for a look at what's coming up on "nbc nightly news." >> coming up tonight, the thread of flooding as parts of the south start to recover from days of severe and deadly weather. plus, dozens of homes threatened bay brush fire that has closed part of the pacific coast highway in california. also, spectacular scenery but off-limits to drones as the unmanned aircraft become more and more popular. and against the odds, how one man saved a factory that makes a famous american guitar. that's when we see you in a few minutes for "nbc nightly news." for now, i'll send it back to you and merry christmas to you and everyone in philly. >> you as well. we'll see you soon. >> thanks. this is "sports desk" brought to you by xfinity. hey, everybody. i'm john clark live at the link.
6:24 pm
the eagles' season is on the line tonight. if they do not win, they are done. they can't make the playoffs. the redskins would clinch the afc east at the link. take a look at sam bradford on the field a little while ago. the redskins are 7-7, but all seven of their wins have come against losing teams. they haven't beaten a team with a winning record. and they're 1-5 on the road, getting outscored 183-110. sam bradford has been a more vocal leader over the last month, and his teammates believe he'll step up before the game again. >> i think if anybody's going to do that, it's definitely going to be sam. i'm not even going to say sam's probably going to do that. that's who he is. i think there's that acclimation period, if somebody gets there to a new place. i think everybody's starting to see sam not just off the field,
6:25 pm
but definitely on the field. he's a more confident guy. >> eagles and redskins are very similar. they don't really run the ball that well, and also they can't really stop the run. look at the eagles against the cardinals in their loss, they gave up 230 rushing yards. bad tackling. tonight we want to see a better approach and more toughness on defense. here's demico ryan. >> it's really just attitude. it's all about wanting to get the guy on the ground, and having the effort and tenacity just to bring them down. there's not a lot you do as far as practicing. it's all about the attitude and demeanor of really wanting to get the guy down. >> and on defense, it looks like the eagles are going to be without benny logan on the defensive line and cornerback
6:26 pm
byron maxwell. guess who's back. desean jackson arriving at the link. didn't play against the eagles earlier this season in washington. last year in his two games against the birds, nine catches for 243 yards and a touchdown. i'll tell you what, it looks like eric row and maybe jalen watkins will have to play against him. he doesn't care who's covering him. >> i'm definitely excited about the opportunity, having to go back and play in front of a lot of fans, that some like me, some probably don't. regardless, whatever the case may be. it's a game. and in this locker room and organization, we know we need to do something we haven't been able to do in three or four years. so we just want to take care of the opportunities at hand. which is win a football game. >> as i said, it doesn't look like byron maxwell is going to play. he's on the eagles' bench sitting there while some other
6:27 pm
guys have come to warm up. so it looks like eric rowe will play. chip kelly has not been swept in this division yet, so that's going for the eagles. and the redskins haven't won three in a row against the eagles in 28 years. at 7:30, we have eagles game plan, and hopefully wrapping up an eagles win. i'm john clark at the link. we'll see you later on tonight. back to you. >> all right, john, thank you. while the christmas holiday is over, the week-long celebration of kwanzaa begins today. the african-american museum in philadelphia hosted a candlelighting ceremony. kwanzaa themed arts and crafts, and a kwanzaa marketplace. kwanzaa is celebrated by millions of people throughout the african-american community. and we're celebrating this mild

weather, right? >> yeah, it goes on and on. especially where we could be having 20s, teens right now. no, 50 degrees today. right now it's not 50 degrees, but that's still above normal. and by tomorrow, into the 70s for some spots. so here is a look at what we're going to see tomorrow. temperatures around 70 degrees by 3:00. so we're going to have a warm day on sunday. by monday, that's a big change. we're looking at temperatures back into the 40s, so a cold day on monday. then things get interesting monday into tuesday. we could see some snow, some sleet, some freezing rain for parts of the poconos, parts of the lee high valley. otherwise, it's going to be mainly rain. back into the 50s on tuesday and wednesday. and we do have 40s back toward next weekend. but yeah, still warm. >> we'll see you tonight at 11:00.
6:30 pm
on this saturday night, state of emergency. after days of severe and deadly weather in the south, it's not over. tonight as some begin to recover, millions more face new tornado and blizzard warnings. firefight. the battle against a growing wildfire that threatens dozens of homes along southern california. tonight, we're on the front lines. cashing in on this day after christmas. time to shop all over again. the unhappy returns and the chance to score bigger and better deals as the stores try to unload. and no-fly zones. with more and more americans buying and flying drones, the best scenario around has become restricted air space.
