they pushed me into the wall head first. i got three staples in my head. >> right now at 6:00, a teenager is speaking out to nbc 10 after he claims a group of kids randomly attacked him. his plea to catch those responsible. plus the holiday weekend is coming to a close. and that means it is a busy travel day. here is a live look at 30th street station where most who left philadelphia for christmas zr destinations are coming back home tonight. but weather is causing obstacles for travelers. it was a record-breaking warm day but we've seen heavy fog and rain. in south philadelphia it was

dreary and gray this afternoon. good evening. i'm denise nakano. it might be warm outside but it won't last. let's get to our meteorologist michelle grossman. >> it does look like some of us will see winter-like weather monday into tuesday. but dramatic changes on monday. cold air coming in. we broke the record. and tied it in wilmington and atlantic city so it was a warm day and still looking at mild air. 64 degrees in philadelphia. 42 is normal. 57 in reading. 60 in wilmington and 66 in atlantic city. but that will change tomorrow. because a cold front is moving through that will bring in light rain and showers to us tonight and work out of here overnight and leave cold air for monday. so if you are out and about, by 7:00, 60 degrees. 9:00, temperatures still in the upper 50s and around 11:00

around 54 with a chance of rain falling. much colder on monday. we're talking 40s and the chance for snow, sleet, freezing rain into monday and tuesday. we'll talk more about that coming. disaster declarations made in four counties in dallas, texas. and the death toll could get higher. 11 people are confirmed dead but crews are still digging through the rubble. and they are facing more torrential rain and flash flooding in other parts and the possibility of of freezing rain in others. >> as the day continues, we'll have increasing areas where rain-covered roads will turn into ice. >> more than 30 people have been killed in a round of powerful weather around the country over the past few days. from flash flooding in the plains and midwest and heavy

snow in new mexico, west texas and oklahoma. and it is not just the severe weather in those states causing travel headaches for the millions of americans making their way home tonight. as we mentioned, the weather in our area has also caused some problems. and for more on that, let's check in with drew smith who is live at philadelphia international airport. drew, are there any delays right now? >> reporter: still a lot of delays, denise. because of the weather. low cloud ceilings here at the airport. and arriving flights will be late, probably an hour and a half on average. and if you are flying to a destination where there is worse weather, you could expect to wait longer. and here on the ground, we're running into issues with ground transportation. back-up buses rolled up outside of the train station tonight. a power failure at the railline coming at the worst possible

time. >> i will probably uber. >> aaron was dealing with family in the south which dealt with tornados. >> on the way to the airport in memphis, all of the pine trees were cut in half. the short, narrow band, but you could see the damage. >> reporter: over at 30th street station, this family was trying to catch a train to north jersey to get on another flight but tickets were hard to come by. >> we are trying to get to costa rica through all of the troubles that we've encountered. >> reporter: back at the airport, we didn't hear too much complaining at baggage claim. >> it wasn't too bad. but it was still a delay. but we got here in a good amount of time. >> reporter: some travelers from atlanta were happy they could still wear shorts in philli today. >> we were delayed. there was some weather. but all in all, we're here. we're safe. looking forward to a nice holiday with family. >> reporter: and we just got word from septa, they restored power on the rail lines so that

is rinning again -- running again but there could be residual delays so keep an eye out for that. drew smith, nbc 10 news. and let's see how holiday travel is impacting the roads at this hour. a live look at i-95 in south philadelphia and plenty of headlights as people are making their way home but from the look of things, traffic is moving along. new at 6:00, the teen attack. a teen claims a group jumped him and leaving him with serious injuries. and now this mother is asking fr help in tracking down the attacker. andrea, tell us how this unfolded. >> reporter: that 14-year-old was with his cousin, walking down van dyke street. they were headed ore to the 7-eleven. but along the way, the 14-year-old said he was attacked. the parents of this these 14 and

15-year-old cousins ask we not reveal their identities for fear of retaliation but they want the story told. >> there was a group of kids sitting right here on bikes and we were starting to walk across the street. >> reporter: the cousins said they were confronted by a group of ten or 12 teens who asked them if they knew another kid and they said no and two of the teens in the group allegedly attacked the 14-year-old. >> one of them punched me in the neck and i kept on walking because i didn't want to start anything with them. we continued to walk this way. >> when they got up to us, we were right here and by the time they all got up to us we were at that wall when the one kid came up in front of us and cut us off. >> the 14-year-old said he was pushed head first into the brick by the metal garage doors. his cousin helped him up and they ran down the block to the 7-eleven to get help. >> i got three staples in my head. >> and add to that bruised ribs. >> i will definitely press

charges. it could save another child. >> they filed aid police report and others saw a group of kids hanging out at different locations last night. >> they weren't but out of the house for three seconds and that happened. it is terrifying. >> reporter: now the cousins do not recognize any of the boys in that group. meanwhile philadelphia police are investigating. live in the coney section of the city, andrea klein thomas, nbc news. >> police think a few shootings a few minutes apart are connected. a boy is in critical condition after he was struck in the neck, back and leg just before 11:00 along lead street in overbrook. and minutes after that shooting, someone shot a man on a front porch near 67th and lebanon in over brook. so far no arrests in these or any of the four shootings in

southwest philadelphia last night, including the killing of a teenager. fire engulfed a home in mt. laurel this morning. this picture was sent in by one of our nbc 10 viewers. and you could see the heavy smoke as fire crews manage to get the fire under control. no word on what caused the fire or if anyone was at home at the time. well the schedule says there is one more game to play but for all intents and purposes the eagles' season is over. after running out to a 7-0 lead on the game's first possession, it was all downhill for the birds. like most of the season has gone. too many penalties and costly turnovered did them in. washington won the game and the division. and now they spoke about the head coach. >> why take a team and wear it down. but he got to go.

peyton manning is in the middle of the latest performance-enhancing drugs scandal. the al jazeera network will air a documentary alemming that he and other athletes receiving human growth hormone from an anti-aging clinic.

north and west. 56 in allentown. 58 in potstown. still in the 60s in philadelphia. 66 in millville. and 66 in atlantic city. and 42 is normal for this time of year. so we are so far above that. live look outside. it is gloomy still. we had the dense fog this morning that wouldn't go away and the clouds stay in place and it was damp throughout the day. now the rain moving in. on the light side but everyone should see the rain off to the north and west but swinging through the city. over the next couple of hours, by 8:00, rain along the i-95 corridor and through the night we'll see the rain scooting off to the south and east. it is out of here overnight and we're really stuck with the clouds. monday morning, waking up to partly cloudy skies an things begin to change. colder conditions, temperatures in the 40s. right around 45 degrees. that cold air is going to set the stage for wintry weather monday night into tuesday. so plan on a wet and maybe icy morning commute on tuesday, especially north and west. monday at 9:00, the first start of it.

hey, danny pommels with you once again. the majority of the attention surrounding ryan howard has been on his future with the phillies. but now there are questions about what may have happened in the slugger's past. according to a report by al jazeera. a pharmacist once employed at an indianapolis anti-aging clinic provided some athletes with performance-enhancing drugs while being secretly video taped

by the network. it focuses on peyton manning, howard is among those that allegedly received drugs. today his agent released a statement which reads in part, the extraordinary reckless claims made against our client in this report are completely false and rely on a source that has already recanted his claims. we'll go to court to hold al jazeera and others responsible parties accountable for smearing our clients' good names. this morning on espn. >> disgusted is how i feel. sickened by it. i'm not sure i understand how someone could make something up about somebody and admit that he made it up and yet he somehow gets it published in a storey. it is completely fabricated, complete trash, garbage. there are some more adjectives
