let bring you up to speed where where things stand for cosby. cosby release the on $1 million bail that he posted via a wire transfer. he was also forced to surrender his passport. the 78-year-old said, under oath, he had consensual sexual contact with the victim, andrea constand. cosby's next court hearing two weeks from tomorrow. we've had a team of reporters committed to bringing you this big story today. let's begin with nbc 10 news's rosemary connors live in ep park. you sat in court as all of this unfolded. walk us through what happened. >> reporter: we were the first ones here at court this morning. bill cosby arrived here with his attorneys at his side. they were holding on to his arms, gripping his arms, cosby himself carried a cane. we made sure to get a seat in the courtroom because cameras were not allowed. we were able to capture moments as he got out of the black suv. he stumbled a bit getting up to the sidewalk. as he incurred the courtroom, i

heard him say steps he was repeating what attorneys were telling him, he was approaching steps, they wanted him to be careful. they guided him to his seat. at that point the judge came into the courtroom to set bail and give conditions that we mentioned. when she asked bill cosby if he understood his rights, rights to preliminary hearing, charges and terms of the bail, he replied yes. at the end of the brief arraignment the judge said to bill cosby, good luck to you, sir, to which he replied, thanks. bill cosby's attorneys have released a statement since the arraignment, it reads, make no mistake we intend to mount a vick russ defense against this unjustified charge and expect mr. cosby will be exonerated by a court of law. here live district court, most likely the preliminary hearing january 14th will not take place here. the judge told us it will most likely happen in norris town at the county courthouse which is a much larger facility. live in elkins park, rosemary

connors nbc 10 news. >> thank you. sky force 10 followed the suv from court to the police department. that's where we find aundrea cline-thomas live. you were there as cosby arrived at the police station, so were a lot of protesters who shouted at bill cosby. >> reporter: yeah. i talked to a lot of them. they used to be fans of bill cosby. as you said, some shouted. others just shook their head as a witness this fall from grace. >> monster your whole life. >> reporter: bill cosby, the once beloved tv dad, admonished as he walked into the cheltenham police department. >> i don't care how old he is now. he's a monster. he wasn't old when he ruined all of those women's lives. >> reporter: he held a cane as attorneys helped him walk inside. >> he was like the a number one dad and everything but that, to

difficult time. let's tack a closer look at key people involved in the case against cosby. constand said, bill cosby drugged her with pills and wine before assaulting her at his elkins park home in 2004. the following year, the district attorney declined to charge cosby. more than a decade later, more women started coming forward with similar allegations against cosby, including supermodel beverly johnson. janis dickinson claimed cosby raped her in 1982. kevin steele defeated bruce caster. today announcing the charges against cosby. several of cosby's accusers, nearly three dozen, came forward in a powerful cov or of "new york" magazine in july. alleged victims ranged if from early 20s to their 80s. many bill cosby fans and critics

philadelphia eagles' owner one day after booting chip kelly from the bird's nest. >> end result was, mediocrity and you know, as the owner of the team i've got to look at the progress and trajectory of where it's headed. >> jeffry lurie made it clear, he wants a coach who can relate to his players and everyone else in the building. nbc 10's tim furlong live in the novacare complex in south philadelphia with more on the birds today. >> reporter: i think a lot of people were surprised he fired chip kelly at all. comments didn't come as shocking. personalty conflict played a part. overall jeffry lurie says it's about winning football games. three years ago they took a risk on a brash football coach who wanted full control. just didn't pay off. i look forward to watching chip succeed wherever he goes. >> reporter: with that eventual success, it's not going to happen here. after three years the owner decided the chip kelly

experiment wasn't working. >> when you make a bold choice, there's increased risk. sometimes it doesn't work out when you take risks. end result was mediocrity. >> reporter: the team cut him loose, no option to stay as coach but not as gm. looking for a new head coach who probably wouldn't get as much power. lurie will look at available pro coaches or coordinators and retired coaches. lurie did say his next coach will be flexible and open with players and respectful of fans. >> it's a unique and incredibly passionate fan base that just wants to win. you've got to incorporate that in your life, in your heart, and you've got to be willing to do that. >> reporter: above all, you need to win games. chip kelly wasn't doing enough of that. now eliminated from the playoffs in a weak division most thought the eagles should have won. >> this has been one of the most disappointing seasons i've ever endured. >> reporter: a lot of people

action from philadelphia's new mayor. one week before his naught. ten community groups announced the platform of the first 99 days of mayor kenney. they did it outside city hall. calling on the mayor elect to enact eight policies if 4 his first 99 days in office. addressing equal education, community, health and safe communities, immigration reform, fair work. some are issues that kenny showsho showed commitment to, others he has yet to take a position on. >> i appreciate, we are certainly in line with the things they suggested but i can't work within their time limits. >> kenney said one thing he plans to do day one, make philadelphia a safe haven for undocument the immigrants. he vows to limit cooperation between local law enforcement and federal immigration agents.

bill cosby's attorneys say they are confident he'll be cleared of fellny charges they are calling unjustified. cosby's free on $1 million bail after arraigned on three counts of aggravated indecent assault. the charges involve a sexual assault on i a former temple university employee 12 years ago. cosby scheduled to be back in court january 14th. deanna durante live in elkins park. you were there when cosby arrived in court this afternoon. tell us what happened. >> reporter: well, he was escorted from a dark suv, walked through a line that police set up, carried a cane but used two lawyers on either side for support while he entered into the courtroom.

carrying a cane and flanked by lawyers, bill cosby was dressed casually. he used his lawyers for support as he walked slowly. reporters yelled questions to the comedian who nearly fell before entering to a side door. how do you respond? cosby again says nothing as he leaves. >> anything you want to say? >> today, after examination of all of the evidence, we are able to seek justice on behalf of the victim. >> reporter: kevin steel announced the charges this morning. a victim, former employ o', said she had been assaulted by cosby inside his elkins park home 2004. prosecutors never filed charges then but say new information came to light this summer when sealed depositions were released. prosecutors took a second look at the indicate. >> re. 0ing this case was not a question. rather, reopening this case was

more open and take suggestions from his players. >> chip had good intentions. i think he departmedidn't have about it, he seems stand offish. >> reporter: lane says players would complain to position coaches and a few would go up to chip and speak to him about their concern. a few changes were made but in the end lane says chip did not change enough. >> maybe intimidation factor, just seemed kind of like belichick, sometimes in the press conference kind of unapproachable sometimes. >> reporter: lane says chip had a hard time adjusting methods to professional athletes. >> i think chip moving forward, it's a learning process. whenever he wents to the pros and from college kids to professional athletes it didn't work out. i don't think everybody was on board in the same direction and that's what you need.
