day. 2016's off to a brutal start on wall street. weak signs out of china, falling oil prices pressured stocks. explosion at a local school sends a maintenance worker to the hospital. the incident happened this afternoon at edmonds school in east mount airy. a maintenance person, whoing on the heater when the boiler exploded. he was taken to einstein hospital with second and third-degree burns to the lower part of his body. he will be okay. we spoked to several relieved parents afterwards. >> turned and looked like, my building vibrated if i came outside and seen parents walking towards the school. one lady saying, i think it was an explosion at the school. >> completely relieved he was okay, in one piece, and safe. >> the school will remain closed for the next two days while they repair the heating united. >> a married chester county

pastor out of the country but expected to surrender on charges that he raped a teenage girl and got her pregnant. nbc 10's deanna durante talked to police and the church pastor today. she's live with more on this. >> reporter: investigators say that malone befriended a young victim, encouraged her to move in with his family, and they say he sexually assaulted her, abusing her and her trust. >> what he did was horrible. we're hurting over it the church is hurting over it. we're hurting for his wife and kids and of course for the young lady. >> reporter: the pastor says on any given sunday church services can hold 1,000 people or more. all of those people are standing behind a young woman who went to the church for help, a woman who told them a church pastor got her pregnant. >> we're waiting with the police for them to come back, turn

himself in, repent, serve whatever consequence. >> reporter: they brought the woman to police as soon as she confided what was happening inside the apartment. they've gotten her counseling and provided places for her to stay. the family of jacob malone moved away, as police say the hunt for the pastor extended to ecuador. >> we were contacted by his attorney, and he said he would be returning to the united states. he's currently in ecuador. >> reporter: first face charges in chester county. there is another investigation, one in arizona, where malone worked years before coming to pennsylvania. they say it was in arizona where he met the victim in this case. >> just with his power and he did it once, you have to wonder whether he did it before. this was a long period of time, this process, from when he knew her, when she was 12 or 13, and she's 17, it makes you wonder, is there more? there's another reported victim

schooling, but instead, came home to find his home up in flames. 3-year-old elizabeth died in the front room trying to escape. and the body of her 3-month-old sister was found in a room upstairs. flames tore through the home yesterday. caraway's wife is in critical condition with serious burns. he and his wife lost everything in the fire. he and five other children are staying if a hotel. there is a vigil planned tonight, and organizers hope people will donate clothes and supplies to the family. fire officials are investigating the cause of the fire but say the house did not have any working smoke detectors. i'm denise nakano, nbc 10 news. registered sex offender charged with taking naked pictures of a pair of 6-year-old girls in a lehigh county hotel room. authorities found glenn evans with the girls in a hampton inn in hanover last month.

he was arrested for child endangerment. now faces child pornography charges because investigators say there were nude photos of the girls on his cell phone. new information from bucks county, a high school basketball coach seen in this video will be cited for harassment. in the video, neshaminy's jerry divine appeared to bump a referee to the floor during a game. the district attorney announced harassment sicitation today. >> the coach was certainly violating the rules out of control in the sense that he knew better than to be doing this. but we don't see the attempt to cause injury. >> suspended from coaching but he has returned to teaching. sky force 10 over a mess that's causing problems for people in mt. laurel, new jersey. sewer line broke on hartford road near route 38. crews working to repair it.

people in mt. laurel asked to reduce the amount of water they're using in the meantime. and to call the township if their sewer backs up. >> look at this geyser. sky force 10 over it in con'hohocken. crews able to shut down the line. the gushing water and freezing temperatures created a winter wonder line. power lines and trees coated in ice. it was an industrial area, so businesses were affected. investigators are trying to figure out what started the fire that destroyed this home in philadelphia's winfield section. the fire started around 9:00 this morning. crews say the homeowner was hoarding items, and that made it difficult for firefighters to put the the flames. no one was hurt. a police constable in central pennsylvania shot and killed a 12-year-old girl by mistake while serving an eviction notice. the bullet passed through the

january 13th marks anniversary of the first arrival to the united states. it happened in 1903 in honolulu. philadelphia also celebrating the new year with a big boost in tourism. nbc 10 visited philadelphia's annual new year's hospitality breakfast. visit philadelphia says a record 40 million people visited the city in 2015. that's thanks to the world meeting of families and a visit from pope francis. officials are expecting another big turn outwhen the democratic national convention comes to town in the summer. now your nbc 10 first alert weather with chief meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz. >> hats, gloves, needed them all today. in collingswood, low temperatures, plus winds gripping the region today. yeah, windchills down in single digits this morning. and the freeze continues overnight tonight.

wind will diminish. it won't feel quite as cold tomorrow morning as it did this morning. a quick warm-up that starts tomorrow. once the sun comes up and holiday weekend forecast, overall, looking pretty good. we've got fair amount of wind out here, not quite as much as this morning or last night when it was really howling. 28 degrees now. 15 mile an hour wind. feels like 17. we're 16 degrees colder than we were at this time yesterday. we're in the mid-20s. you can see 15 in mt. pocono, 28 degrees in wilmington and atlantic city. nobody's gotten to the freezing mark or even to the 30-degree mark for that matter. the average high is 40. we haven't seen many days like this. you can see the way feels on exposed skin generally in the teens. look at the difference between yesterday and today. 10 to 20 degrees colder. so we had rain showers. we had snow showers.

and then arctic winds came in. let's see how windy it is now. we're not seeing as many wind gusts as we did a couple of hours ago. gusting to 25 in philadelphia. that's the strongest wind that we have at the moment. now, the hourly forecast going to mean that the temperature does not change much tonight. clouds are coming in. with the wind diminishing, windchill won't be as low tomorrow morning as it is right now. so, 5:00 a.m., it's going to feel like 21 while it feeling like teens now. that will help folks who don't want it to be this cold. dry out today. watching a patch of snow. ohio, that might clip the northern portions of the area late tonight. this is the area going to develop into a quick moving nor'easter that is going to graze the area, you can see, it's bringing moist up. by friday night, it's going to be close enough to be producing
