and ted greenberg is live in stone harbor. ted, how are people at the shore coping with this big mess? >> reporter: certainly a big mess. right now behind me we have the lieutenant governor and the commissioner of the new jersey department of environmental protection bob martin coming off the beach in stone harbor after taking a good look. they have been assessing the damage all along the coastline today from ocean county all the way down here to cape may county, this beach is closed off, one of many along the coast severely damaged by the nor'easter and in some places houses are in serious danger as well. >> one more nor'easter and we're under water. >> reporter: homes on the edge, in the holegate section of long beach township, beachfront houses are in peril. after the nor'easter's massive waves washed away protective dunes and parts of people's property. >> many of them are tinkering on the edge of falling over looks

like. >> this was an area that got devastated in superstorm sandy. we lost probably half million cubic yards of sand here. >> reporter: now, the township is having sand trucked in to build a barrier between the homes and the ocean. >> we're going to start with 600 truck loads, we can probably use 600 truck loads every three days. >> reporter: less than two weeks ago state and local leaders talked with me about serious concerns for the exact same area after a beach replenishment project was suspended until the spring. >> we need to dredge this time. we're one storm away from having a major disaster. >> reporter: in north wildwood an urgent effort to repair a major breach in the dune system there, this drone video provides an aerial look at the damaged area before and after the storm. >> mobilized heavy equipment trying to fix the breach so we don't have more storm tides coming through this area.

>> reporter: north wildwood's mayor hopes that work will be done late tonight or tomorrow, in both communities officials say there is no time to waste. live in stone harbor, ted greenberg, "nbc 10 news." some of the jersey shore taking issue with a storm speech on saturday. christie used the blizzard to slam towns fighting the state's plan to build sand dunes. >> this should not be held up by what i really believe are a few very selfish homeowners who do not want to give in to the idea that we have to -- that we have to build these dunes by using the fake excuse that somehow i want to build a board walk or a ferris wheel or a hot dog stand or public bathrooms on a strip of land that we're taking. it's a ridiculous idea by selfish fongs and their selfish lawyers. >> christie said that the weekend storm is proof that new jersey needs to build protective sand dunes. people in several towns have

gone to durt challenge whether the state is justified in seizing sites and lots. the mayor of point pleasant beach released a statement in part, i don't know if the residents who live on the beach are selfish, i think they are concerned about their properties and government overstepping their bounds. >> we've had sky force 10 on patrol all day. here is a live look now at the snow piles growing in south philadelphia, that snow that is picked up in streets around philadelphia issing dumped here, just look at how huge that pile is. the fourth largest snowstorm in philadelphia's history. and we know that pile will keep growing as the snow continues to be collected. nbc 10 first alert meteorologist sheena parveen is here with the forecast. >> a drop in temperatures tonight could create dangerous conditions on the roadways that have been treated. >> yes. there is a lot of slush out there today. we had more melting, so big concern tonight as we go

overnight. the ice that will start developing north and west around sunset and really for the rest of the area shortly lly after. you see all of the snow cover here. what you can't see but what you probably have seen driving around today is all of the slush on the roadways. a lot of melting today will be refreezing tonight. that's going to be the big thing overnight and early tomorrow morning. locally, though, we are dry. we don't really have anything heading this way except for showers tomorrow possibly. but most of that would be rain showers. look at our temperatures though. we're around 40 degrees for most of the area now in the mid-30s through the lehigh valley and allentown so this is the reason along with the sunshine today why we've seen so much melting taking place. now, not really the big snow piles but especially what you see on the side of the road, the slush you've been driving over, melting off buildings, creating wet sidewalks so overnight the temperatures will be dropping below freezing so be careful as you leave especially early tomorrow morning.

by 7:00 p.m. tonight we should be the around the mid-30s. if you're in the lehigh valley your temperatures will be lower by 7:00 so we expect ice developing areas north and west of philadelphia. by 11:00 p.m., icy spots developing, pretty much everywhere across the area. and even tomorrow morning, when you head out to work around 8:00 around the philadelphia area we'll be around freezing. we are looking at the icy concern as we go into tomorrow morning. so coming up we'll talk more about this, we'll look at how much snow cover is around the area though we know we are covered in the snow. i'll show you the highest areas with the snow cover currently which is going to lead to greater icy spots tomorrow morning and also the chance of showers and warm temperaturers, warmer in the forecast. that's straight ahead. >> philadelphia public schools and parochial students had the day off but the district has not made a decision about tomorrow. the philadelphia parking authority announced reduced rate parking at garages and lots will continue until 7:00 tomorrow

morning. it's an effort to get people to move their cars so streets can be plowed. the mayor also called for patience. >> do appreciate your patience, we're getting to your streets, we have to take care of the big ones first, then that affects the most number of people. we haven't forgotten you. we are coming or already there. >> the city said normal trash and recycling collection will resume tuesday. whether by car or on foot navigating streets and sidewalks after the storm can be dangerous. one walking along 15th street and center city tells us she was hit when ice fell from a building. doctors there helped the woman. it has blocked off the walkway around the building to protect pedestrians. >> and look at the scene in norristown. piles of snow still on the streets there. the situation has left some people steamed. one borough councilman took to facebook to apologize for what

he called an unacceptable snow response failure. and harry hairston has been driving around the suburbs in storm force 10. >> what are the condition likes where you are in norristown? >> reporter: i have to say the conditions right here are just -- really horrible. take a look at this street we're going down now. this is one of the streets, this is the one of the better streets, so you can see why people are frustrated out here. some of the street has been plowed. partly plowed. other streets aren't plowed at all. cars can't move whatsoever. as you see in front of us there are folks out here still trying to shovel out little spots, cars have found little cubbyholes to fit into. and probably going to sit there. folks complaining that they can't get their vehicles out to everybody get to work so they are very upset and they are frustrated. some of the kids of course trying to have fun playing football. i want to roll some video to show you what's happening in

upper dublin. we had a call where there was some plowing. and one of the apartment complexes there. but what happened, they piled all of this snow about eight feet high into a couple of parking spots and temperatures out there, here's what he had to say. >> the issue that you have is what right now? >> that they put these tons of snow in my driveway which i physically can't remove. and all i want them to do is sent a front end loader, send it down and take it out and put it somewhere. >> reporter: now, i did talk to the people at upper dublin and they told me the township there says listen, they are just working as hard as they can to get things put together and to knock down some of this snow and of course take care of that. as we make this turn here in norristown we've been rocking and bouncing around. this is probably one of the best

streets that we've been on and this is not even a main street. but this is as good as it's getting out here right now. we're going to continue to whip around this area and take you down some other roads as we make our way to places like plymouth meeting and show you how these neighborhoods are coping with all of the snow, still in their area. in their face. giving them a tough time. back to you guys live. >> harry, thank you. we'll check in with you later. >> the lehigh valley got more than two feet of snow and getting around even in a four wheel drive is a what length. mitch blacher is taking a tour in news force 10. he will give us a closer look at the hardest hit area coming up at 4:30. >> from the sky to the rails to the roads, crews have been working overtime to get transportation up and running. good news, if your car is under snow in fill till the city is giving you a break. the philadelphia parking authority will not enforce meter and kiosk parking violations.

but, you will still get a ticket for safety violations such as parking in front of fire hydrants, in bus zones and double parking. >> it's a frustrating day for septa riders. people who depend on septa are finding themselves sitting and waiting for trains to arrive. septa says more delays can be expected as it recovers from the blizzard. it is asking commuters to be patient. >> it was two that were delayed but it was okay. i mean, two were delayed and i got on the third one. it was packed but it was good. >> before you even get on a regional rail train to get to work good luck finding a parking space at the station. piles of plowed snow are filling up lots of those parking spots. service is running on new jersey transit. the agency's trains, buses and light rails are back on a regular week day schedule. riders are urged to allow for

extra travel time. >> in delaware, dart resumes service but there are a few exceptions. route 7, 8, and 10 are still not running, we're waiting to hear back about the situation for tomorrow. >> millions of people up and down the east coast are digging out today, check this out. a drone got a bird's-eye view of a street and buildings along island, new york. it's hard to tell in spots where the streets are because there's just so much snow. the big storm pounded more than a dozen states from the gulf coast to new england. now, maryland is the one area hard hit by the storm. in baltimore, crews are still working around the clock. many are clocking 12-hour shifts on plows. farther south in maryland, heavy snow saved in the roof of a church hall. >> power is restored to thousands in our region, atlantic city electric made good progress restoring power, nearly 300 are still in the dark,

though. most in cape may county. delmarva, peco and ppl in pennsylvania are reporting minimal outages. still ahead, tim furlong gives us a closer look at how delaware is cleaning up from the beaches to new castle county. then we'll take you live in news force 10 to hit the hardest areas by snow. to go to the hards hit areas, rather, by snow in the area t lehigh valley. how some jersey students are celebrating their snow day and why police have to get involved at a popular sledding this weekend. that's at 4:55. >> let's check other news on "nbc 10 news" at 4:00. take a look at these two guys. a camera shows them walking into rodriguez grocery at west philadelphia to rob the place. one suspect points his gun at the clerk, he does the same thing to customers who started walking toward him. the robbers made off with about $200 wednesday. call philadelphia police if you

recognize the two men. >> two federal agencies are investigating a deadly police shooting in bridgeton, new jersey. two officers shooting and killing reed during a traffic stop. last summer cumberland county grand jury decided not to indict the officers but now both the fbi and the u.s. attorney's office have opened investigation. >> pennsylvania legislators are back at work in harrisburg today trying to end the state's budget stalemate. pennsylvania has been operating without a budget for seven months. in two weeks governor wolf is scheduled to deliver his annual budget address to the state legislature. that speech is supposed to kick off budget negotiations for next year's budget. >> today we are hearing from the owner of a philadelphia restaurant who wrestled with a gun wielding robber and ended up begging for his life. the gunman hit phoebe's barbecue on south street early this morning. he took some cash and ran off,

but not before tussling with the owner and pointing a gun at his head. the emotional owner spoke to nbc 10 why he thinks his life was spared. >> so emotional. he kind of looked at me in pity. and i had the money in the hand and he grabbed it. he took off. >> detectives are checking to see if the surveillance video in the area will give any clues. now to decision 2016. the iowa caucuses are just one week away and with the time winding down the candidates are making a final push in the hawkeye state. on the democratic side bernie sanders and hillary clinton are running neck-and-neck in iowa. this morning sanders spoke to voters at a town hall event. he asked people what it was like to live on $12,000 a year. >> hillary clinton told jewish leaders in iowa she is the best

candidate to handle america's challenges at home and abroad. she has rearranged her schedule on thursday to give her more time in iowa, a sign of how close the race is there. >> the democratic presidential field will discuss the issues tonight in a forum in des moines, the final time to share the stage before next week's caucuses. on the republican side, senator ted cruz and donald trump are locked in a battle atop iowa's polls. today cruz made three stops in the hawkeye state. he asked supporters to find nine allies each to back his candidacy. >> donald trump went to church in iowa yesterday but tonight he's turning his focus to new hampshire. he'll attend an event at 7:00 in farmington. trump has looked significantly stronger in new hampshire polls. our blizzard 2016 coverage takes you to delaware now. >> first state was prepare forward a record snowfall.

take a look at this beach erosion at slaughter beach in sussex county and this seal was stranded along route 1 after the storm flooded much of that area. tim furlong is live in the trolley square section of wilmington. >> many people you spoke with are waiting for the streets to be cleared and they have been pretty patient but that could change. >> reporter: yeah, i'd say. here's the real rub with this. somebody comes down west 14th street. this has not been touched since this happened. here is the rub. a lot of the snow piles in the parking lots, the shops and stuff, there's a lot fewer spots because of all of the snow piles. look at the brouhaha coffee shop. like one spot somebody with an suv carved out. of course if you have a house in the area too, that's not so great. look again, this is west 14th street that i'm standing on here. look what i'm dealing with. all of this snow here. it hasn't been touched.

it's sliply in spots by the railroad bridge it gets tight and potentially dangerous. at rockford park hundreds of sledders are out. kids are totally digging the day off from school and in other parts, though, they are just digging as in digging out cars. >> city living is great. you can walk but there is one of the down sides. >> reporter: near st. francis hospital the city plowed away in and out for the ambulances and most stay hey, this is a big storm, we know it's going to take longer. the city plows and contractors still haven't gotten to every side street. where they did neighbors are left to lift the heavy snow wall off of the cars. his little snow sweeper does okay, it just takes a lot longer than it's beefier snow blower cousins. >> does real good. >> reporter: once they get done a game of savies begins. you find what you can to hold your spot. it's not necessarily legal but the way it is.

snowboarders are making a long weekend out of this weather. >> yes, and you know, the poconos are very happy about this. a fresh layer of snow, so feels nicer when you fall. doesn't shurt when you have fresh snow on the ground. a look at center city toward the art museum. the schuylkill river, a lot of snow cover which has melted. even more today. so you've probably noticed more melting going on today. temperatures were in about the upper 30s for most of the area. so we're going to see another round of refreezing tonight. so ice will be forming, a lot of the slush on the roadways will be freezing over tonight. any areas that have melted and caused wet spots on the sidewalk you can expect those to be ice tomorrow morning especially if it's not treated. we go through tomorrow we're going to be back in the 40s, but we have showers that can be moving into the area. that would be rain showers. right now we're at about the mid to upper 30s through the lehigh valley, 39 degrees in philadelphia, 40 bensalem. 38 degrees in millville and atlantic city and with the

sunshine we had yes, a lot of that snow and ice was able to melt a little. look what happens tonight around sunset, i think we'll see that freezing starting up again. see especially north and west. temperatures will be dropping off so for much of the area we will be bat the mid to upper 20s overnight tonight. and early tomorrow morning. here is a current look at the snow cover across the area. now, the brighter pinks show you where the most snow cover is. obviously we have just about everywhere except spots along the shore. but all this will be sticking around for a while but at least our temperatures in the 40s for most of the week or at least around 40 degrees we'll see even more of this melting so the melting snow, remember it's going to be freezing at night. not just tonight. it's going to be every day this week, the snow will be melting during the day, then we'll see temperatures below freezing every night. so we're going to keep dealing with this through the rest of the week. currently nice and dry, but that area of showers that we're watching, that's around chicago and the great lakes, so small

little weather system, not a lot of moisture with it but showers could start to move in tomorrow. here is a future weather showing, so as we go through tonight temperatures dropping in the 20s, this is by 9:00 p.m. this evening. then we're going into tomorrow morning. temperatures around freezing still around 7, 8:00, they start to warm up by 9:00 a.m. more melting during the day, temperatures 40ss, then you see rain showers trying to move in the afternoon. by wednesday morning we're going to pay attention to this disturbance to our south. could provide some snow showers to parts of southern delaware and extreme south jersey and by wednesday afternoon again we are looking at temperatures staying right around 40 degrees. so more melting will take place. tonight ice forming, partly cloudy, 29 for the low in philadelphia, 23 areas north and west. then tomorrow temperatures back up around 40 degrees but not as cold, 41 to 44 with a chance of rain showers. then wednesday, it's going to be 42 again, so again that melting, that's going to be the case

every day this week with afternoon highs well above freezing. but we're going to be watching that system to our south. another one offshore thursday and friday, another weather system we're keeping our eye on. coming up i'll show you that and so far your weekend looks dry. >> some of the most popular places to be today local sledding hills. >> in one south jersey spot police were on patrol during the fun. why officers responded to the sledding hill to keep the peace for kids and their parents. >> plus, after first anticipating the least, they got the most. what digging out of record breaking snow looks like in the lehigh valley. >> and remember this, dozen#$/k cars stranded for more than 24 hours on the pennsylvania turnpike. the report card governor wolf is giving its penndot crews from the blizzard.

so that folks can get here for business they have at the courthou courthouse. moving closer to airy road. we'll get a look there to see how much the streets have been cleaned. i have to tell you, the neighborhood streets that we've seen out here, they are just terrible. some of them are unpassable. you cannot get through those. we're going to continue to travel throughout this entire area. we'll show you the streets as we get to them. >> sorry to step on you a second ago. the governor and the turnpike commission apologizing to motorists tranded during the snowstorm. more than 500 vehicles were stuck on the turnpike during the blizzard. those stranded stayed in shelters and hotels. the situation was caused by a pair of tractor-trailers that could not make it up a hill friday night. governor wolf today thanked the penndot crews working around the clock to keep people safe. he says there is still work to

be done. penndot has more than 2200 trucks across the state to battle the snow. >> the blizzard of 2016 brought record snow totals to parts of the lehigh valley. >> mitch blacher is live in allentown one of the hardest hit spots. mitch. >> reporter: hardest hit and digging out. we'll have a live update in allentown and the lehigh valley as residents deal with this historic storm. >> plus, you could be breaking a law when it comes to clearing your car from the snow. what drivers need to know to keep from paying a fine. >> and coming up we'll talk about that ice threat tonight and really for the rest of the week. also a chance of showers in the forecast as early as tomorrow. that's coming up.

the aftermath of the blizzard of 2016. people have been digging out from all of that snow. sky force 10 was out surveying they came across this, an overturned tanker on its side near longwood gardens. the location of this is right on route 1, no word yet on injuries. again, route 1 near longwood gardens a tanger on its side. we'll keep you updated. >> reporter: i'm harry hairston in norristown. what you're looking at traveling down market street, we're headed to norris. much of the street has been plowed but as you can see, it is still difficult to go through the street without moving your vehicle to the center lane. driver is careful in sharing the road on both sides. most of the side streets we've seen that are impassable. it's making it difficult for folks to get around. reporting live in norristown,

it happened. >> yeah! >> good to help somebody. >> it didn't last long. car after car had to be helped from the slush and ice. >> jam after jam here. >> until this gray minivan overheated trying to conquer it. blocked again the good samaritans back to work. it's a snapshot of just one intersection out of thousands of what we saw at allentown's 14th and shoe seemed to be the worst and the best of what nearly 32 inches of snow offers. >> thank you, fellows. >> reporter: now, 14th and shoe, that's a secondary intersection, the emergency access routes are primary. this would have been one of the last places to be plowed here in allentown. allentown's mayor wrapped up a

news conference here at city hall saying that it could be days before all of the roads are clear. he asked for his residents' patience. >> philadelphia public and parochial students had the day off. the district has not yet made a decision about tomorrow. >> there is snow covered side streets throughout the city. rosemary connors spoke with frustrated people still digging out. >> cabin fever got the best of janine. she enlisted the help of her family as she needed to go to the pharmacy to pick up prescriptions for her and her son. >> i'm trying to get out. we've been stuck for two days because there was a car in the middle of the street. >> reporter: this was the car that stalled in the middle of the block, the owner finally called south philly towing. >> cars stuck all over the place. we've been winching them out. doing the best we can. >> some of the side streets haven't been plowed the main streets are pretty clear and people are starting to get out

and about. sidewalks have been shoveled. >> some parents enjoyed the snow day with with children they wonder about school tomorrow. as for danene more relatives and neighbors have come but doubt her kids will return to class tuesday. >> i don't know if there is going to be school. it's difficult to get out. i can't get my car off the block. i don't know how the buses and stuff is going to get through tomorrow. >> rosemary connors, "nbc 10 news." >> the blizzard brought us hours upon hours of snowfall, now thanks to the springford television we can relive it all in a matter of seconds. a camera rolling outside the campus in montgomery county to document the storm. >> when you see it like that it puts it in perspective. nbc 10 first alert meteorologist sheena parveen is here with the first alert forecast. >> we had even more melting of that snow today but we're in for a refreeze tonight. >> yes, we are. and i don't know if we want to relive it too many times after

it happened. very windy, very snowy. now it's on the ground and now it's melting, temperatures well above freezing today and they will drop below freezing tonight so we have ice in the forecast for tonight. a lot of what you see on the roadways the slush on the side, the wetness on the sidewalks it's going to freeze again especially on the untreated areas. right now though, we're still seeing melting because we're still above freezing. 39 in philadelphia, 40 northeast philly, also in washington township. 37 in trenton. lehigh valley we're at about the mid to upper 30s in spots, allentown 36, 38 degrees in reading, also pottstown. 32 though in lancaster, colder spot now. most of south jersey and delaware in the upper 30s, 41 in woodbine. 37 in dover, 39 in mount holly. but the temperatures will start dropping off tonight and our next weather system off around chicago could bring us a couple rain showers as we go into tomorrow. but right now we're going to stay dry and through the overnight hours. so here's what you can expect tonight. the first area i think that will start to see that freezing over

and icing. 7:00 p.m., ice north and west around the mid-30s for the philadelphia area. 9:00 we should start to see most areas refreezing again with the ice forming especially by 10:00 p.m. tonight. and we could be seeing those problems early tomorrow morning for the morning commute, just be careful because we do expect ice out there and really, as we go through the rest of this week, coming up we'll look at the milder temperatures in the forecast in our next chance for rain. >> and philadelphia international airport seeing they are slowly getting back to normal. we checked and found about 10% of flights were canceled today. as of now all of the runways are clear of snow. schools deciding whether they will reopen tomorrow. to find out if your child's school is closed or on a delay, we have you covered the minute it happens with the nbc 10 app. sign up for alerts and we'll send you a text or e-mail. driver beware, there's a law you need to know about before you clear your car from all of that snow.

i had an injury to my neck. it wasn't as serious injury it was a herniated disc. anything that could go wrong went wrong. i've been in the hospital twenty three times since. the bills started to pile up. i had nothing to give. we had nothing in the refrigerator. i would be dead and not sitting here right now if it wasn't for pond lehocky.

are on kenwood road, the streets are plowed, it's fairly passable. folks using a shove tool shovel out the sidewalks. we've noticed many of the sidewalks are still snow covered making it difficult for anybody to even try to walk on the sidewalks. seeing people walking in the streets, as we continue through the neighborhood, folks i want to let you know we're using a wide angle lens on storm force, so it appears as though we're going faster than we are but i promise you we're going roughly around 5 to 10 miles an hour, especially through these neighborhoods. we'll continue to report from the roads in the philadelphia area. harry hairston, back to you guys. iffy to drive on the roads as harry was showing us. not only dangerous with snow on the car, it's illegal. >> new jersey drivers can get ticketed for $75 if they don't properly clean off their cars. fines range from $200 to $1,000

from work and school for some. and here's how some of them are enjoying their snow day. a live look at the blue cross river rink in penn's landing, the ice is being cleared. folks enjoying the ice and sheena parveen joins us now. the temperatures are dropping, that could create icy conditions. >> yes, especially with all of the slush around today. a lot of those areas that have been plowed with that thin layer of snow driven over and melted we have puddles around the area too. those are going to be freezing stror in a lot of locations. here is the a look in the poconos, more skiers and snowboarders than what we've seen so far this season. the poconos loving this fresh layer of snow. feels better when you fall on it. more melting occurred today with high temperatures around 40 degrees for part of the area. tonight dropping below freezing, ice forming, beware of this as you head out tomorrow morning. especially if you leave before 8:00 because we'll still be below freezing by then.

then we go into tomorrow, the 40s return in the afternoon, but we do have showers in the forecast and we're talking about rain showers. now across philadelphia area, there you see the snow cover which a lot of it has started to melt. not the big piles. philadelphia, 39 degrees right now, mostly cloudy. very light winds so we're not very windy and incredibly cold but in the mid 30s through the lehigh valley, 38 pottstown, 40 degrees in beenstay lem, 40 in glass glow. so in some areas now we are seeing that melting, now the sun did help that today, tomorrow though we'll see more clouds around with it. the rain we are watching for tomorrow, some showers around near chicago that little small weather system there's not a lot of moisture with it so we're not going to see a lot of rain tomorrow but we'll have some showers in the forecast. currently we're dry and we're going to stay like this overnight tonight. here is a look at future weather, below freezing overnight, ice forming, then tomorrow morning 8:00, most of the area at or below freezing around philadelphia and points

north and west. then we go through the afternoon, there you see the model picking up on rain showers, the temperatures in the 40s in some spots south jersey and delaware could be in the mid to upper 40s, with a little bit more of a south wind. wednesday morning we're going to watch this disturbance, snow showers in southern delaware, we'll keep our eye on that. wednesday afternoon once again we're around the 40s. we have another system off shore thursday into friday. the computer models are trying to get a better handle on this. i think some of them have. as we go through thursday, really keeps it off our coastline. and then we go into friday, moves away, not much happening locally but some models are trying to graze our area with this system so we'll be watching that closely. then we look dry as we go into the weekend. tonight ice forming, partly cloudy, 29 for the low in philadelphia, 23 areas north and west, tomorrow not as cold, so more melting occurring, 41 to 44 degrees, chance of rain showers. then we'll be watching the chance for snow showers or a little bit of a mix wednesday,

township. >> the kids hoping to have at least one more day off. >> reporter: yeah, and they told me there's nothing official yet about school or tomorrow you guys are crossing your fingers. after being cooped up during saturday's blizzard today was the place to be, this was the hot spot. mother nature paid the perfect landscape. the sun was out. it was a great day off from school. it's little evelyn's first adventure at downhill sledding with dad and better yet dad didn't have to scramble for a sudden snow day childcare. >> it's been great this year because with my schedule i was able to get off today and this is -- she is 3, she is enjoying the snow. >> reporter: saturday's blizzard set the scene for a perfect snow day off from school in winslow. it wasn't just for the kids. grandmom judy adjusted her work schedule to be the designated babysitter. >> yes, i did. and it's been a fun time.
