independence blue cross. live fearless. nbc 10 breaking news. that breaking news this morning, a huge mess on interstate 78 in berks county where several accidents have led to major backups on the highway after freezing rain moved through the area there. sky force 10 is live over the scene. let's get the latest right now from nbc 10 first alert traffic reporter jessica boyington. jessica, what are you seeing? >> right, lauren. so what we're looking at is 78 right now. that actually is closed in several different areas because of that freezing rain. and it's caused several accidents. you can see traffic moving by at this point. that can also be traffic getting on some of the ramps in between those closure points as well. so either way a slow go if you're already on there. and if you're trying to approach this scene, you're going to

expect closures. this is in berks county. several accidents reported. go to my map and get more detailed. exit 10 at bethel township, another reported at exit 30 and another one reported at exit 40 in greenwich township. a big stretch between route 22 and exit 6 through route 737 exit 40 where you'll see delays and closures. looking a bit better this is around montgomery drive. see no problems in either direction. we're still green for our drive times eastbound from the blue to the schuylkill expressway. you can see maybe the exit ramps are not plowed as well as other areas or could be potentially slick spots. this is around 38 in maple shade. no delays on most of our majors. thanks, jessica. we're taking a live look from skyforce right now. i want to bring you ron young from penndot joining us on the phone right now. thank you for talking to us. >> you're welcome. good morning. >> good morning. i want to ask you first of all about where things stand right

now. we can see traffic getting through, but it is going very slowly. how long should drivers expect a backup in this area? >> at least until some time this afternoon. what they're dealing with out here is multiple crashes involving multiple tractor-trailers. i-78 is a major trucking route, so there are some tractor-trailers involved in both eastbound and westbound crashes having the highway closed. crews are working to get that cleaned up and get things back in order and open it up to traffic. but for the meantime we want people to avoid i-78 and take alternate routes and allow extra time. >> we know that freezing rain moved through this area. do you know at this point whether that is what cause thd? or was there some sort of ice? what do you know about the cause? >> well, there were icing on the road as a result of the freezing rain. freezing rain can happen very rapidly and form ice patches on the roadway very rapidly even on areas treated recently. so that is what happened out here and motorists lost control, i suppose, on the icy

conditions. we do stress that doing these type of events that people slow down, use extra caution. if you don't have to go out, don't go out. but of course we understand people do need to get out and go. if you're going to, use extra time. of course in this case you'll have to seek alternate routes. >> i even saw some snow sort of creeping out close to the roadway even on to the roadway. is that making it more difficult to get people around this? >> yeah. the stretch of i-78 has low shoulders too. if you don't have a clear shoulder to use to get traffic out, that does make it more difficult. crews have reported to me they are getting people in the cue moved out of there as we speak. and then they're going to work on getting the tractor-trailers moved out and get things back open. >> now, this road was salted, is that correct? >> that's correct. the roadway was treated before this occurred, however as i see it earlier once you get band of freezing rain coming through, things can ice back up pretty

quickly. >> ron young for us from penndot, thanks so much for your perspective and that latest information. again, skyforce 10 live over the scene as that backup stretches and making for some slow going for folks this morning. thanks, ron. >> you're welcome. in the northbound lanes of the blue route in delaware county were backed up for miles this morning after a crash involving an overturned tractor-trailer. skyforce 10 was over the scene there near marple township. one e meantime many people are dealing with a mess in their own neighborhoods. this morning as we continue to dig out from the blizzard of 2016, stormforce is live checking out conditions in norristown, montgomery county. cleanup also continues in delaware county. a snow blower doing some of the work in broomall. streets and sidewalks we main covered days after the storm. a live look at market street in

center city, philadelphia. take a look it shows clear spots for the most part here, but many side roads in our area remain untouched. and icy spots make for a slick commute for many this morning. philadelphia public schools and schools in the archdiocese of philadelphia are closed today for the second straight day as are hundreds of schools in our area. and other schools are on a two-hour delay, which means, well, students in haverton township had a little extra time before school playing in the snow. i'm lauren mayk, the belolo recovery from blizzard 2016 will. city estimating all streets cleared by tomorrow night. the ppa is once again suspending kiosk and meter parking fees today. and lawmakers and officials will tour damage along the jersey shore ncht this morning stormforce 10 is out on the streets looking for your trouble spots. two full days after the blizzard

and some areas have yet to see a plow. nbc 10's matt in norristown, an area we've been hearing quite a bit about, matt. >> reporter: lauren, this is why. we're at the corner of lincoln and martha, you see snow covered entirely. an nbc 10 viewer told us about this location and we came by to check it out. grant it it would be difficult to get a plow down the street right now, but no cars have been able to get through in several days. take a closer look. a couple feet of snow not just covering the cars. but once you dig out the car, then you can't get down the street. i've been talking with people who live on this block. some tell me they have not been able to drive to work since last week and fear they won't be able to get out any time soon. >> they're slow moving. they'll probably get it done sooner or later, but they're very slow moving. to be honest with you, they really are. this is totally a mess, all the way down the street, all the way down the block. and i don't see us getting

nothing out of here today either. so they're going to take care of the major roads i guess and side streets goes poof. you know what i mean. so it's really sad. >> reporter: now, theboro has taken quite a bit of heat. one of the council members apologized for that. residents want to get cars out and back to normal. we drove through other parts of norristown this morning finding many roads still unplowed and unstalted, much like this one as we take a live look here. some residents tell me they fear they won't get out until all of this melts. now, the borough said they're working to bring in more contractors and get these streets cleared. i'm getting back in stormforce 10. we have it here parked and we're going to check out more areas for you. some folks telling us about their trouble spots via social media. more on that in a few minutes. for now, live in norristown, mat delucia, nbc 10 news. thanks, matt.

happening now, it is going to be a full day of touring the jersey shore for u.s. senator cory booker. this morning he'll get a firsthand look at the damage done by the coastal flooding. he's in west wild wood right now and then head to sea isle city. he checked out the damage in camden. the camden mayor tweeted a photo of the mayor grabbing a shovel to help dig out residents. nbc 10 was at the jersey shore yesterday where we found several damaged beach homes. in long beach ocean county, the nor'easter washed away dunes and property in an area devastated by hurricane sandy in 2012. the township is now trucking in sand to rebuild the barriers. >> we're going to start with 600 truckloads. we could probably use 600 truckloads every three days. >> we're one storm away from having another major disaster. >> in north wildwood, crews are trying to fix a breach in the dune system. take a look at this video.

it gives you a bird's eye view of the damaged area before and after the storm. allentown wants cars off the streets so crews can plow the snow there. officials are making parking available at several schools. the mayor is also asking businesses and churches with clear lots to let drivers park there temporarily. and check out the mountains of snow in manayunk. nbc 10 was on north flemming street earlier this morning. this is one street still clogged from the 22 inches of snow dumped across philadelphia this weekend. it's making snow removal a long and challenging task. and some people are losing their patience. well, now we are tracking rain for our area. nbc 10 first alert meteorologist bill henley here with the forecast and more on that. bill. >> lauren, the first rain of the morning, as you know, came through as freezing rain. this is berks county. there's interstate 78 in between 7:00 and 8:00 this morning. just very light rain came through the area. just enough to create that icing along i-78. that line of showers now over

new jersey. and it's really fizzled in the last few minutes. just a few raindrops now, and not much left there. there's still freezing rain advisory in effect for parts of eastern pennsylvania, but not for much longer. the temperatures, they're above freezing. 45 right now in philadelphia. what a warmup. it's about a clouds coming in, 47 in millville and it's in the low 50s in cape may. even allentown is warming up, reading now 34 degrees. and climbing. we will see limited sunshine today. dry for the next few hours. 47 degrees by 1:00. and then some light rain showers at 4:00 and into the evening commute. we'll go through the forecast neighborhood by neighborhood when i'm back in just a few minutes, lauren. thanks, bill. well, all the snow on the ground is creating a big challenge for mail carriers. the u.s. postal service is asking customers to help out by keeping your sidewalks and your walkways clear from snow and ice. they say carriers will attempt to make deliveries wherever possible, but are instructed to use their own judgment when it

this is nbc 10 breaking news. we continue to follow breaking news this morning. a huge mess on interstate 78 in berks county. several accidents have led to major backups on the highway. right now 78 is closed in both directions between exit 40 and exit 35. definitely an area you want to avoid this morning if you can. nbc 10 first alert traffic reporter jessica boyington will have an update on this just ahead. this just in, north wildwood mayor patrick rosanelo tells us new jersey governor chris christie called him this morning to apologize. here's why. while christie was on the campaign, a student asked him why he wasn't in his state after helping out from the blizzard. here's how the government responded. >> i don't know what you expect me to do. do you want me to go down there with a mop? you know, the fact is that we

had all the roads cleared. we had new jersey transit back up. and for the people who did sustain some flooding, we had folks on the ground to evacuate them if they needed to be evacuated. no one needed to be evacuated. >> nbc 10 did in fact show some rescue and evacuations during the blizzard like this one in wildwood on saturday. the mayor released a comment calling christie's comments, quote, disrespectful. then this morning the mayor says he got a call from the governor. he says christie apologized for personal comments that he had made about the mayor. mayor rosanello says he accepted that apology. but then went onto say, quote, i think that the lack of compassion for our residents and business owners is still a concern and the lack of respect that was shown for our first responders. so i would hope that he would take the time at some point in the near future to communicate that fact to them. turning to decision 2016.

donald trump continues to dominate the presidential field according to the latest cnn/orc poll. more than four in ten republican voters say they support trump. the poll also found two-thirds republican voters are likely to get trump. trump has support of 41% surveyed. more than 21 points ahead of his closest competitor, senator ted cruz. he has 19%. no other republican candidate is in double digits. senator marco rubio comes in with 8%, ben carson at 6%. this morning on msnbc's "morning joe," trump had some harsh words for cruz. >> ted cruz lies. he's a liar. and that's why nobody likes him. that's why his senate people won't endorse him. that's why he stands on the middle of the senate floor and can't make a deal with anybody. he looks like a jerk. he's standing all by himself. >> trump also said that former alaska governor sarah palin had been supporting cruz before she called and offered to endorse trump. as for cruz, he is on the campaign trail at this hour.

this is a live look at osceola, iowa, where the texas senator is trying to rally support. this is actually his second campaign stop of the day. earlier he met with voters at a cattle breeding operation. and florida senator marco rubio spoke to a crowd in pella, iowa. he told potential caucus goers there that he is the only candidate that can unite all factions of the republican party. now, ohio governor john kasich won the endorsement of the boston globe yesterday. and he's hope thag can give him a strong showing in the primary in neighboring new hampshire. kasich held a town hall in new hampshire this morning. the globe called him, quote, an experienced political figure with a record of results. on the democratic side, both leading candidates are campaigning in iowa today, one day after appearing separately at a nationally televised town hall. this is a live look at des moines, iowa, where vermont senator bernie sanders is holding an event this morning. nbc's andrea mitchell has more

on last night's event where sanders' opponent hillary clinton faced some tough questions from the crowd. >> reporter: hillary clinton faced a blunt question from a young voter leaning toward bernie sanders. >> i've heard from quite a few people my age that they think you're dishonest. but i'd like to hear from you on why you feel the enthusiasm isn't there. >> look, i've been around a long time. people have thrown all kinds of things at me. but if you're new to politics, if it's the first time you've really paid attention, you go, oh, my gosh, look at all of this. and you have to say to yourself, why are they throwing all of that. well, i'll tell you why, because i've been on the front lines of change and progress since i was your age. >> reporter: sanders was asked how he defines being a democratic socialist. >> creating a government that works for all of us, not just a handful of people on the top. that's my definition of democratic socialism. >> reporter: and each was asked to react to the other's tv ads. >> she's the one leader who has what it takes to get every part

non-vice president has ever been who aspires to this office. a pretty good warmup today and a slow melt is underway. we've got filtered sunshine but still temperatures have warmed into the 40s above yesterday's level. we've seen some showers this morning. another round of showers later today into the afternoon and evening commute. and even later this evening. there is a threat of more re-freezing. not so much tomorrow morning. really later in the week. right now a warmup, 34 degrees. couple degrees above freezing in reading. already well into the 40s for philadelphia. and look at cape may at 48 degrees. doesn't look all that warm. there's still plenty of snow on the ground. even with temperatures in the 40s, this melting is going to be very slow. what's helping today is the wind that is picking up near 14 miles an hour in philadelphia. and look at the shore 20-mile-an-hour winds. still calm for allentown and reading. little colder there as a result.

but once the winds kick in we'll see the warmup there too. radar shows that first line of showers has fizzled. and the next line not looking very impressive. you can see a little bit of rain in the buffalo area, it's really falling apart in philadelphia and pennsylvania. we could see some showers later today. clouds, they'll be here. clouds increase with the temperatures 44 to 48 degrees this afternoon. the showers roll through the night. by tomorrow morning we'll be drying out. and a little colder, but just above freezing in philadelphia. some of the suburbs you'll drop below freezing, so some re-freezing overnight. 40 degrees wednesday afternoon. gets colder though on thursday. so we'll see melting during the day tomorrow, refreezing tomorrow morning. and into thursday morning more widespread freezing. by friday temperatures hovering near 40 degrees with clearing skies during the day. and then this weekend after a very cold start saturday morning, we're in for a warmup, 42 saturday, upper 40s for sunday and monday. and late monday a chance we'll see showers. thanks, bill.

nbc 10 first alert weather breaking news. that breaking news this morning, a huge mess on interstate 78 in berks county. this is where several accidents have led to major backups along the highway as they try to clear this after freezing rain moved through the area this morning. let's get the latest on this from nbc 10 first alert traffic reporter jessica boyington. jessica, getting any better out there? >> well, we're dealing with some kind of rolling closures almost on this accident scene. several accident scenes actually

on 78 in berks county. so it is between a certain stretch of 78 where we have seen this freezing rain. and several tractor-trailers involved as well in several different accident scenes. so in some areas there are cars getting through. but for the most part we're seeing delays on either end and closures because of this. and i'm going to tell you exactly where everything is. reports of earlier around exit 10 from bethel internshtownshipt 30 but exit 40 in greenwich township. that's pretty much a big stretch between route 22 at exit 8 and between route 737 around exit 40. so big stretch in there even if there are specific areas where cars can get through, it's in your best interest to avoid this area for now because there will be major backups to go along with it. here's another accident scene. broad street. a huge backup all the way to 95 because this is headed westbound towards the schuylkill expressway. with police activity on the scene and only one lane getting

through on the westbound side major delays there. also delays on the schuylkill expressway due to an accident around 202 blocking the right lane. total drive times are still okay. we're in the green 13 minutes or 12 minutes on the westbound side. thanks, jessica. we are taking a look at the aftermath of the blizzard from stormforce 10. the digout continues today. matt delucia's been checking on conditions for us. here they are on montgomery avenue. in havertown, delaware county, a snowplow removing snow. the city of philadelphia at this hour is estimating all the streets will be cleared by tomorrow night. the ppa is once again suspending kiosk and meter parking fees today. and lawmakers and officials will tour damage along the jersey shore today. now, let's go to nbc 10's matt delucia who is live in

stormforce 10 checking out these trouble spots two full days after the blizzard. some areas still just a mess yet to see a plow. folks are getting a little frustrated, aren't they, matt? >> reporter: well, lauren, you may have just seen in that toss to me there there was a plow off to the side of the road here along montgomery avenue here in villanova. but talk two days about this blizzard two very different scenarios. most of the highways are plowed and look good. while we've seen a lot of side streets, especially some small alleyways that are completely undrivable. this morning we've been looking at your tweets on social media as you tell us the areas giving you trouble. and some of them even we couldn't try with our four wheel drive and snow tires here on stormforce 10. norristown, montgomery county, for one, is still dealing with piles of snow in several streets. the borough did tell us about 90 minutes ago plowing operations are continuing and working in to

bring in more contractors and working overnight to get these streets cleared. the residents of norristown and philadelphia and places in between say it's time to get out. >> i called through the 311 app and just kind of went into some da database somewhere i'm sure no one saw. >> a bus sitting here like ten cars had to squeeze by. i mean, if they would have even plowed this a little more, then i think it wouldn't have been a problem. but it was such a tight squeeze, it was just people scared that they're going to mess up their car because they have to wait for a bus. >> reporter: now, uber in norristown, councilman miller told us there are obstacles to removing the snow now especially that it's compacted and with rain in the forecast that could now create flooding along those snow-packed roadways. as for the major roads, i've been on the phone with penndot this morning to get updates from them. they've been out clearing these roads as well. you do see many of the major roads here again montgomery avenue you're looking at right now drivable, passable and really not too bad especially as we get a little bit more towards

that warmup to help melt some of that snow that froze overnight. live in stormforce 10, matt delucia, nbc 10 news. >> thanks, matt. well, philadelphia's streets commissioner says the city has now cleared the primary and secondary roads in the city. but he understands that some people are still frustrated that their streets are still not clear. commissioner donald carlton says the storm posed a challenge not just because of how much snow fell but also the way it fell. >> most of this stuff was not just the actual storm. we had up to 17, 18 inches of snow drifts that actually drifted on some of the city streets. it's an ongoing battle. >> the streets commissioner says the city did have enough equipment to handle the storm. and now back to the blizzard aftermath at the jersey shore. nbc's jacob rascon is in west wildwood where several new jersey lawmakers are touring the areas hardest hit by the weekend flooding and blizzard. >> reporter: lauren, the town of west wildwood is looking very

much forward to the visit from the senator and congressmen. they've been focused on getting the debris off of their driveways, the water out of their homes and cleaning up the giant mess here. but today now that the water is gone and on the heels of those comments by the governor about bringing a mop down here, the residents are fuming, many of them are. so they're anticipating the visit from the congressman and senator hoping that as they walk around and tour the damage that they'll be able to decide if they can offer some money to the town. as we know, the town is estimating that the damage is in the millions of dollars and that they don't have enough money, for example, to rebuild this seawall. very critical in case any other storm is coming this way. i'm jacob rascon in west wildwood, back to you. >> well, we are of course dealing with that flooding, the snow and now we're tracking rain for parts of our area. nbc 10 first alert meteorologist bill henley here with a look at that. bill, what can you tell us? >> well, matt mentioned the

possibility that people are worried about flooding, but i think that's highly unlikely. we're going to see slow melting conditions. temperatures are warming up 45 degrees. southwesterly winds will help eat into the snow pack. but again, with temperatures in the 40s, there's some serious snow on the ground and it's compacted over the last couple days. so it's going to be very slow melting. as far as rain is concerned, well, the first round has fizzled. to the west you don't see much activity, but look at west virginia. this is the rain potential for later today. and that is going to be light rain. so there's no flood threat here. late this afternoon a very light rainfall in the northern and western suburbs during the evening hours moving into the philadelphia area, but it will remain light and be just rain as temperatures too warm for anything else. flood threat out of the question. clouds, they're going to be moving in and taking over. but look at the temperatures, 47 degrees, southwesterly wind at 9 miles an hour at 1:00 this afternoon. some scattered light showers mainly north and west at 4:00 moving into the i-95 corridor

for trenton and wilmington and philadelphia at 7:00 this evening 41 degrees. but there is a chance we'll see some more wet weather. you'll have to wait a while however. got the seven-day forecast when i come back, lauren. thanks, bill. well, crews have begun to repair a chester county church that was damaged when its roof caved in during the weekend blizzard. take a look. you can see heavy machinery at work outside the calvary fellowship church in downingtown. the roof claollapsed under the weight of two feet of snow on saturday. the storm caused an estimated $1 million in damage. the pastor told us the community will help his congregation get through this. >> the love, the support from the community, from the schools, from other churches, from individuals. it's just been overwhelming. >> well, the congregation will hold sunday's services in the church cafeteria for now. repairs are expected to take about a year to complete. a snow emergency is expected to remain in effect in york,

pennsylvania until friday. some cars there are buried up to their windows by snow and many streets have not been touched by plows. about 30 inches of snow fell there in york. and people in washington, d.c., just like us, they are digging themselves out from under more than two feet of snow. cleaning up driveways and sidewalks, this is a day-long chore. plows are working nonstop to clear major roads. dump trucks are hauling loads of that snow to a stadium parking lot. federal offices will remain closed today. well, new york's mayor is calling for all hands on deck to dig out from the historic snowfall. and the city is willing to pay for a little extra help. mayor bill de blasio has put out a call to hire workers to remove snow and ice from bus stops, crosswalks and fire hydrants. the city's mayor calling an emergency city council meeting to discuss declaring bankruptcy. the mayor says the city has no other option because governor christie vetoed a bill that

would have helped a.c. to stay afloat. even if city officials decide to declare bankruptcy, they would still need state approval. today, philadelphia clergy members and immigrant families will call for an end to u.s. deportation rates. the group plans to deliver an open letter to president obama at immigrations and customs enforcement headquarters in spring garden. the letter demands the government stop deporting families from central america who fled to this country because of violence at home. a chain reaction crash sends a semitruck barrelling into a law officer, and it was all caught on camera. we want to warn you, you may find this video disturbing. an ohio sheriff's captain was directing the semi over a train crossing in southwest, ohio. and that is when a passing train suddenly hit the truck pushing it into the captain. now, the captain suffered a gash to the head and broken left hand, but otherwise he was okay. and he hopes to be back at work soon. searchers continue to look for two b.a.s.e. jumpers wlo

disappeared off california's big sur coast. the woman was swept away by some big waves and her partner, a b.a.s.e. jumping instructor from finland, went into the water after her and vanished also. both are presumed dead. the coast guard in florida rescued more than a dozen people from this sinking yacht last night. the luxury vessel took on water about 14 miles off lauderdale by the sea. a coast guard cutter picked up the people on board and took them to miami beach. no one was hurt here. a home with a view comes at a price along part of the california coastline. take a look at this video. wet weather, failing bluffs and a damaged seawall is causing a dangerous situation along the pacifica shoreline. this apartment is the third condemned and in danger of falling. a state of emergency is in effect because of the dangerous cliff erosion. today, families dealing with the water crisis in flint, michigan, can get some help.

those concerned about their kids' exposure to lead in the city's water supply can get tested for free. the tests are available for children up to 6 years old. the national guard continues to bring in bottled water to concerned families. iranian president hassan rowhani has asked pope francis to pray for him after private talks at the vatican. rowhani is on a four-day trip to help tehran as a player in the middle east peace effort. the country reached a deal with world powers to limit its nuclear activities in an exchange to an end to economic sanctions. pope francis says he hopes for peace. up next, a new report reveals the best jobs of 2016. plus, they are philly's finest and they are looking for a few good recruits. coming up next, details on the philadelphia police department's new career drive and who the force is specifically going after to join the rank and file. clouds are taking over. and another round of wet weather on the way. but those will be raindrops

health care dominates when it comes to the best jobs in 2016. u.s. news and world report released this year's best job rankings. orthodontist came in at number one. similar job, dentist, is in the number two spot. computer systems analyst came in at number three. do you have what it takes to be a philadelphia police

officer? well, the department is looking for some new recruits. a career fair this week is putting the focus on women in law enforcement. so that is why we have some women in law enforcement joining us this morning. officer collier and officer diane cortez from the philadelphia police department. thank you so much for joining us ladies. >> thank you for having us. >> first of all, let me ask you why the focus on women. let me start with you, why the focus on women right now? >> well, we are trying to make, you know, half and half. we have half of the population, so why not make it better and have another addition for women to come on board. >> where does it stands right now? >> we are 30%. >> 30%. okay, so you got 20% at least to go. >> yes. >> all right. all right. let me ask you, why did you choose this? >> i wanted to make a difference. wanted to protect and serve. >> was it something that you thought about as a young girl?

or did you meet someone who influenced you? >> i did. i did meet someone. i actually met a police officer that actually influenced me. i was trying to buy a house and she was the police officer that did some financial stuff. and she talked me into it. >> so it came actually when you were an adult? >> yes. yes. i was an adult. i was a social worker for years and she was like try this out. and i did. and i loved it. wouldn't change it. >> were you surprised that you liked it? >> yes. yes. i liked it. >> officer cortez, what types of people are going -- who is this right for? >> definitely drive to be energetic, sympathetic, caring and wanting to help the community. >> does it help if you grew up here? i just asked you before we started, you're both from here. >> yes. >> does that make a difference that it's your hometown?

but we do understand it appears people may be evacuating that area. > saw some sunshine to start with, but it's quickly fading in the area. cloudy skies over center city. and a little bit of a breeze. little stronger in some areas. you can see the flag is starting to blow here at the nbc 10 studios. winds at 14 miles an hour at philadelphia international. look at that warmup, 45 degrees. that's pretty good considering we're looking at lots of clouds. we've since seen some breaks in sunshine in the poconos, near spring conditions as temperatures are warm across the board. 30s, upper 30s at that for even le high valley warmed up over the lows of the morning. upper 30s in allentown and heading into the 40s this afternoon. there you can see a bit of sunshine at the shore, but inland it's already mostly

cloudy skies. behind these clouds not much wet weather just yet. but late this afternoon that's when we'll see showers move in. you can see the showers over west virginia. the future hour by hour forecast shows light rain and temperatures in the very low 40s for doylestown and pottstown. fiphiladelphia as well. as it comes through it will only be rain. and even later this evening the temperature is still elevated, where the rain is falling 44 in dover and millville 45 and showers will push offshore first thing tomorrow morning. we're still looking at a warmer start tomorrow morning, above freezing for allentown and reading. so we may not have the ice refreezing that we saw this morning by tomorrow morning, but there is potential for later in the week for another round of cold before we get a warmup. today, pretty decent warmup in spite of the increase in clouds. look for showers late this afternoon and this evening. high temperatures will range from 44 to 48 degrees this

afternoon. tomorrow, just above the freezing mark. then 40 in the afternoon. a breezy day tomorrow. we will see partly sunny skies on wednesday. sunshine, nice and bright thursday and we'll need it too. look at that cold morning. teens in the suburbs 202 in center city. clouds coming in early friday morning but moving out during the day. and then warmer weekend after a cold morning on saturday. by sunday afternoon partly sunny and 47. and near 50 degrees on monday. there's a chance of some showers on monday. it looks like they'll be here later in the day. we'll be right back.

we're following breaking news from san diego, california, right now, where there are reports of shots fired at a building on the campus of the naval medical center. this is a live look from the scene. we have seen a lot of police, federal agents coming and going. we understand that the gunshots were heard in building 26. now, this building is a building that houses offices and barracks for wounded sailors and marines. there's also a gym in there. nonemergency personnel are asked to stay away from the compound right now.
