campaign trail donald trump began his final push in iowa by attending church services with his wife. in the afternoon, the two attended a rally hosted by jerry falwell jr. and there, chump chastised iowa republicans for not having chosen the eventual nominee in recent caucuses which he challenged them to rectify tomorrow night. ted cruz gave a high energy closing argument in dan por davenport, iowa tonight. marco rubio also make a last ditch appeal to iowa republicans. rubio told voters at a town hall, it's not about what you like the most but who gives the gop the best chance to take back the white house. here's a look at what's expected to be the final poll before the caucuses. donald trump has surged ahead of ted cruz in the republican fields with 28% of support to cruz's 23%.

to his mother asking if he could visit a friend here in north philly. she never heard from him again. now a year later she still doesn't have many answers. >> i'll always keep the name alive. >> reporter: it's been one year, one week and one day since he was gunned down in north philadelphia. >> the last year has been horrible. i will never ever get used to not having my son. he's the only child, my only child. and he was my best friend. >> reporter: tonight family and friends gather not to mourn his death but to shine a light on his death. >> he would say papa, you all right? i'd say i'm good. i just miss him a whole lot. >> reporter: they laughed as they remembered his warm hugs, loved his music and rocky road ice cream. >> even though we lost him our love for him runs deep. >> reporter: the pain lingers. police still have not made any

arrests in the case and his family and friends want to make sure he's not forgotten. >> i know he's smiling down. he loves this. he loves to be around people laughing, joking, he loves this. >> reporter: eastern university academy charter school is establishing a scholarship in his memory. reporting in north philadelphia, nbc 10 news. new information on the shooting that sent two bethlehem teenagers to the hospital. police arrested two people they say are linked to the shooting. officials say the victims just 14 and 16 years old were hit begun fire while walking near a church in the south end of bethlehem saturday night. one of the victims is in critical condition. nbc 10 spoke to the former basketball coach of one of the teens. >> sad. it's very sad, because you know, it was a kid that was under my wing at one time. and you know, once i heard that i've been praying. >> police say the investigation is ongoing, but they're not

looking for any other suspects at this time. police are looking into whether saturday night's shooting in bethlehem is connected to another overnight shooting in nearby allentown. allentown police arrested two 19-year-olds. they're charged with possession of a firearm aggravated assault. the victim is expected to be okay. and philadelphia police have filed charges against a man in a stabbing on a bus. the charges come hours after the person of interest was taken into custody. this is surveillance video of that incident that happened on friday on the route 56 bus on tours dale avenue on frank ford. police say a suspect stabbed another rider. he's been charged with aggravated and simple assault. we could learn more tomorrow about the cause of a deadly amtrak train derailment in port richmond last may. federal investigators are expected to release evidence and

reports. excessive speed has already been cited as a factor. the crash killed eight people and injured more than 200 others in the national transportation safety board has yelt t to say the train was going so fast as it rounded a curve. a judge will hear arguments to decide whether sexual assault charges against bill cosby should be dropped. the hearing is set for tuesday and at issue, a 2005 deal between cosby's lawyers and former district attorney bruce caster. the deal required cosby to testify during a deposition and andrea's civil case. in return, the testimony wasn't to be used against him to pursue criminal charges. in that civil testimony cosby admitted to giving her pills and engaging in sexual activity. bruce caster is expected to testify at the hearing on tuesday. turning now to our forecast,

people barely needing their light jackets in center city tonight with unseasonably warm temperatures out there, and it's going to get even warmer for your work week. first alert chief meteorologist joins us with the possible record breaking forecast. >> yeah, denise, wednesday we've got a really good chance of setting a record. we're kind of mild tonight after a fairly warm day where we got up to 58 degrees after 41 degrees yesterday. near 60 tomorrow, and then down just a little bit to 53 tuesday before the record day of wednesday. 66 degrees. can you imagine that? it's 35 in allentown now. 37 in pottstown. those are the cold spots. not exactly very cold for this time of the night at this time of the year. pocono is 44. now, the temperature not dropping very much during the night tonight, and during the day tomorrow, we're going to really jump up pretty quickly.

there's 5:00 a.m. already in the 40s in many places. by noon we're close to 60 and then here comes some showers coming through. this is just some relatively brief showers. got a lot more rain on the way along with that record warmth. we'll see if it's going to last all week with the 7-day in a few minutes. a local teacher is off the job and authorities investigate an incident with a student. philadelphia police say the alleged encounter happened at the de-paul catholic school in germ germantown. school are officials are investigating a boundary issue with a teacher. the teacher has been placed on leave pending an investigation. the school says parents have been notified of the alleged incident. >> new information about a robbery suspect tackled by samaritans yesterday. tonight, weave learn had the suspect's name is george blackwell and he is a registered sex offender. we showed you this cell phone video last night on nbc 10 news

at 11:00. at least three bystanders took down blackwell after police say he used a box cutter to rob a woman at a shopping center. the men held blackwell down until police arrived. up next on nbc 10 news at 11:00, a rising fear of islam. how local community leaders are trying to combat that idea as president obama prepares to make his first trip to an american mosque while in office. and later, you can't separate this officer from his k.-9. the effort strangers are making to let this pair retire from the force together.

>> the health care .gov website is very busy right now. the government insists prokrags nay torrs will not get an extension this year. the tax penalty for not having insurance has gone up from last year. the minimum is $695 per adults. the maximum can run you as much as $2,000 you pay when you file your taxes. they helped people with last minute signups and while the health care .gov website is faster and more reliable this year, a lot of premiums have gone up. >> even if you've looked before, take another look. insurance is more affordable

to visit the islamic society of baltimore on wednesday. he's expected to hold a round table with community members and deliver remarks. and today islamic leaders in delaware held a forum to help educate the public facing young muslims in the u.s. this was the scene at the silver side church in delaware today. the panel discussion centered around the topic of rising i lam phobia in america. today's movement for a movement of peace. tonight the group initiated their new president and new cabinet members. philadelphia major was on hand for tonight's ceremony in the city's neighborhood. well, get ready, runners. you can begin registering for the lottery for the blue cross broad street run tomorrow. registration for the 10-mile

race runs through february 12th. lottery selections are random so you'll have an equal chance no matter when you sign up. if you're not running you could watch the race live on may 1st right here on nbc 10. well, a week ago we had one of the biggest snowstorms in philadelphia history and this weekend, at least today, it got unseasonably warm and we have more of it over the next few days including possible record warmth on wednesday, but we also have some heavy rain coming and that's likely to happen on wednesday as well. we have a lot of clouds around right now, but it's mild. 44 degrees. the wind is down to # miles an hour. it's 9 degrees warmer than it was at this time last night and we only have a couple places in the 30s. allentown and pottstown it's 51 degrees.

50 in glass. imagine how warm it would have been together with the snow cover. so we're in the 40s for the rest of the night. that's the normal high for this time of the year and by 11:00 a.m., 56 degrees. even with clouds. all right. there's no snow left over half of delaware now and much of south jersey closer to the coast. it of course shrinks each day. the lighter blue only three inches left, so much of delaware has less than 3 inches. the only place in philadelphia really that has close to 6 would be chestnut hill area and then as we go toward montgomery, that's generalry 6 inches or more, still and parts of the valley including allentown with over a foot. so there's still places that have a decent amount of snow here and of course that's going to really evaporate as we go

into the next couple of days. we have a weak front coming through during the day tomorrow. take the umbrellas with you as you head out, but you're not going to need a heavy coat, that's for sure. and these showers are not necessarily all that heavy. it's going to be dry for the morning rush. here come the showers, quick movers as we go through early afternoon. then it gets a little bit heavier according to this model late in the afternoon. for the afternoon rush and central and southern delaware and then we watch what happens on wednesday. tuesday's nice and dry, but here comes a strong front and the heavy rain that's going to be coming in here on wednesday. and then it starts getting colder. 42 for the low in philadelphia. 34 north and west. not very cold and pretty mild tomorrow. up near 60 degrees despite all the clouds. remember those periods of showers likely. nowhere near an all-day rain. going to be a lot more rain on wednesday than what we're going

super bowl week has arrived. all the heights of the broncos and panthers. the hub for fans, the game will be played in santa clara at levi stadium. the team carry the broncos, waving the afc flag to representatives. looking for win number two. cam newton will be playing in his first and making quite the statement with those pants upon his arrival. meanwhile, the pro bowl being held in hawaii. the mascots and kids, all about the fun. our old friend andy reid coaching one team. defensive lineman takes jenkins on defense. jenkins comes up with the high

two virginia tech students are behind bars continue accused of kidnapping and killing a teenage girl. loved ones held a vigil last night after a girl was found dead. her body was found in north carolina. police charged two students, an 18-year-old man and a is the-year-old woman in connection to her death. investigators believe the suspects and the victim knew each other before the kidnapping. to western pennsylvania now, where pittsburgh police are warning the loss of one of their own after a k.-9 officer was stabbed to death. the incident happened in the town of wilkinsburg. police officers say they were engaged in a chase when the stabbing occurred. the dog was rushed to a vevetery

hospital but did not survive. and tens of thousands of dollars have been raised to keep a retired ohio police officer and his k-9 companion together. state law man dates there if an officer retires before the k-9 he or she forfeits their right to buy the dog. ajax was appraised at $3,500 and a go fund me page has raised more than $54,000. all extra proceeds will be donated to an organization that provides bullet proof vests for k-9 officers. up next on nbc 10, counting down to the caucuses. our decision 2016 coverage continues from iowa. we ha we are tracking all the presidential candidates as they make their final pushes to iwan voters.

late into the night trying to score last minute support from iowa voters. we're in iowa tracking all the candidates as they make their final pushes. she joins us once again from des moines. >> reporter: we're seeing candidates out making their appeal to iowans here, but they are not doing it alone. here hillary clinton brought her husband, former president bill clinton as well as her daughter, but check out who else we found working for her today. that is new york mayor bill de-blasio. and i got a chance to sit down with him for a few minutes. i asked him about the possibility that his predecessor, former mayor michael bloomberg gets in the race and what that could mean? >> i have had real differences with him and some things i think he did very well, but the people in this country are not going to turn to a billionaire to fix the problems that billionaires

announced it will host a democratic debate thursday at 9:00 p.m. the contenders are expected to attend. the democratic national committee has been under pressure to add more debates. a judge will decide punishment this coming week. last year a jury found him guilty of 22 counts of fraud. prosecutors say he lied to banks to get business loans to support an extravagant lifestyle. he could face several years behind bars. he is the son of a congressman. renee is currently on leave from nbc 10. new at 11:00, police are investigating a shooting near a chinese restaurant in west philadelphia. it happened around 6:30 tonight near 42nd street. authorities say a man was shot once in the leg. police are still looking for the

gunman. and tonight, police are on the hunt for two armed robbers who posed as police officers in philadelphia. investigators tell us the man used a gun to hold up an auto body shop last night. they shouted police as they barged in. the mentied up the owner, took 1,200 bucks from his wallet and drove away. the victim was not hurt. three philadelphia police officers are expected to be okay after they were attacked trying to break up a bar brawl. nbc 10 outside the good life loung early this morning. security guards called police after hearing gunshots and police found dozens of people fighting there. as they tried to break up that fight the officers were punched several times. the officers are expected to be okay. a sussex county delaware man is in custody arrested for his

eighth dui offense. he collided head-on just before midnight with another vehicle. the other driver is doing okay. the driver was hospitalized with some serious injuries. along with dui charges the 42-year-old is charged with vehicular assault and failing to provide insurance. new at 11:00, some residents in philadelphia spring garden neighborhood are without water tonight. while crews work to repair a broken water main. that also caused a cave-in. they hope to have service restored before residents wake up in the morning. >> unseasonably warm weather today as we take a live look over center city and we are expecting temperatures to get even warmer into our work week. we could even set a record wednesday. first alert chief meteorologist joins us and glen, you're

tracking that warmth and also some rain. >> a little bit of rain tomorrow and perhaps a lot of rain by wednesday. we had just a spectacular day today with lots of sunshine pushing the temperature up into the upper 50s. it's still in the 50s in parts of the area. northeast philly, and dover, dover is 54 degrees right now. atlantic city airports set a record today at 64 degrees. 58 in philadelphia after 41 yesterday. near 60 on monday. dropped just a little bit on tuesday. that's still a pretty mild day especially with some sunshine and there's that likely record on wednesday. but along with some rain. you can see the temperature not dropping very much during the rest of the night. 7:00 a.m., 44 degrees and that's above the average high for this time of the year. and as we go through the morning hours, the temperature is really going to jump, so by noontime, we're already up near 60 degrees. we have a few showers coming

officer who fired the gunshot belonged to one of the groups which is mostly made up of police and military, but it's not clear if that officer fired the deadly shot. so far, police have made no arrests. senator of new york is calling for the federal government to beat the bite and work quickly to contain the zika virus. the mosquito born disease has affected people including five in new york and 30 others nationwide. >> we never want to get to a place like they have in el salvador where the government told women not to become pregnant for two years because they might get zika. that's a horrible thought. we never want to even entertain the notion that that has to be said here in new york. >> in the next 24 hours the world health organization will come together to make a major decision about zika and whether to declare it a global public health emergency. in brazil, which is ground zero for the outbreak, the government is struggling to protect and

educate people about the virus. we talked to an american on a mission to help the most vulnerable residents. >> prayers in a park. and texas native is on a mission. working with poor families here in brazil for 30 years, his focus now is on educating them about the zika virus. >> reporter: how hard is it to communicate this message to protect yourself? >> it's very difficult. a lot of times they just don't know what the consequences are, what the dangers are. >> reporter: for a 19-year-old the message hits home. two months pregnant she recently zika like symptoms. she says she's worried that the virus related to birth defects could affect her baby. and doctors told her to wear insect repellant and protective

clothing. >> there's no long sleeves. >> reporter: not surprising for this land in sun and skin. part of the festivities, constant reminders to be aware of mosquitos. she says he's learning about zika in school. to the north of brazil, colombia is also fighting to stop the spread of zika. fumigation trucks are going street to street in the hard hit portion of that country. colombia reports more than 20,000 cases of zika. among them, 2,100 pregnant women. the government is urging them to delay pregnancy in women there. an emergency meeting tomorrow will decide whether to declare a global public health emergency. the epicenter of the zika outbreak, life goes on, but many families worry about the virus

and what it means for their future. drivers who rely on the falls bridge to cross over the river will have to find another way to get around starting tomorrow. now, crews will begin rehabilitation work which includes strengthening the existing floor beams and stringers. walkers, runners and bikers will still have access to the bridge during construction. the project is expected to be done by april 1st. the philadelphia auto show shifted into high gear as thousands packed the pennsylvania convention center. whether you're looking to buy or just play with the controls there's plenty to see and do like this little guy. this year you'll find more than 700 cars, trucks and motorcycles to perfectly restored classics. people we talked to say they come every year to the auto show just to see what's new. >> i came out alone because i

the wind is out of the west southwest bringing in that mild air and as you can see through the night tonight, temperatures stay in the 40s and then they jump up in the morning. we're talking about going to near 60 degrees by noontime. it's around 10 to 15 degrees warmer than at this time last night. 18 degrees warmer in dover. the southwest wind bringing the warmer air in. it's not real strong, but it's strong enough to bring that air in and it's mild here, 44. it's 61 at this time of night in cincinnati, ohio. 64 in nashville. 63 in little rock. des moines, iowa, they're having, you know, a little political thing tomorrow, the weather is okay tomorrow, but then they're going to get a blizzard on tuesday. everybody's going to get stuck there. we have some light showers coming through with this weak cold front that's going to affect us during the day tomorrow. you can see it's far to the west and it's not going to affect the

morning rush. it's going to be dry and mild. you're not going to need the heavy coat but take the umbrella because it will cause a band of showers so we may have a half hour's north of rain north and west and a longer period south and east as the front stalls and kind of expands during the evening hours and the afternoon rush in parts of delaware and south jersey. then tuesday it's dry. lots of sunshine. really nice day and then here comes wednesday. really warm, but some petty heavy rain. heavy showers moving through and that will determine just how warm we do get during that day. well, the arctic air is pretty far away, and if anything, we're just going to get milder. it all peaks on wednesday, but the colder air is coming back. this is not the end of winter, no matter what the ground hog ends up saying, because the

patterns are starting to show some changes during the month of february. not the beginning of february, but later on. mostly cloudy and mild tonight. 42 for the low in philadelphia. 34 north and west which is not very low and during the day tomorrow, that is pretty warm for this time of the year. upper 50s to near 60s despite all the clouds and a few showers during the day. we could hit that 60 degrees by noontime. then on tuesday it's a little bit cooler, but still pretty mild for this time of the year. there's the potential record warmth along with some heavy rain on wednesday. we cool down after that, but nothing brutally cold. chilly friday and we watch some moisture down to our south and see if that might sneak up over the weekend. >> help carry the phillies to a world series back in 2008 and he's giving back. we catch up with kid cole. ham ill explains why you may not

cole hamill's etched his name forever. the second title in franchise history. this weekend he was back in town running a clinic for youngsters and says he's happy in his new home with the texas rangers. >> you know, it's very lucky to be able to play with the phillies as long as i did. and i think it was the right call. very happy that it went the way it did. i don't think i could have got out obviously on a better note. >> he made the catch! the 13th no-hitter in philadelphia phillies franchise history. >> the phillies are finally -- they're doing it the right way. you know, focusing on really growing that core again. there's nothing better than playing in front of these fans and i know they'll have to keep

playing and those guys are going to reap the benefit. >> many observers have pointed to howard's rupture achilles. >> i think when roy went down was probably kind of the big -- big, you know, spill because we knew howie was already down but he was going to come back. we still had a good core to kind of band aid ryan, but then when -- now you lose roy and ryan? now you're going to be in some trouble. you know, it's just a matter of time before we understand what the organization will do. >> back in 2008 the phillies world series title seemed like the potential of a dynasty. but that was the last title won by philadelphia's major pro teams. hamill's and the 2008 phillies represents the only parade down broad street for any of the teams here in the city and 7

plus years later hamill understands the importance of that accomplishment. >> if you want to remember what we were able to do on the baseball field. we still talk from that year. we were playing very well at that time and there was a lot of good energy in that city at that moment and i know it is very tough right now, but it will always come back and i know nobody likes to wait, but once it's there, it's going to be the greatest thing again, but i think for all of us, you know, when i do see a lot of the guys now, we do all remember that. you know, we do reminisce a little bit. it makes us feel a little more important even though we're not striving for it. but it makes us understand that all that hard work is paying off. >> all right. the flyers lone representative at the all star game, as we showed you earlier in the show, a minor leaguer who stole the show. this is an incredible story.
