deshawn it was loud and clear. >> he said he made a mistake and looking forward to having his say. >> reporter: he shot this video leaving misconduct tavern in center city. the first public sighting of the former eagles runningback since an alleged awe salt on two off duty police officers. >> i was expecting no comment. get out of my face. >> reporter: he says he got a stunning admission of mccoy about the sunday morning incident where mccoy and three others are expected to be charged. they're accused in an attack at recess lounge over a bottle of champagne. see mccoy's video of his face as pumplgs are being thrown. the off duty officers who were hospitalized with broken bones and lacerations that required stitches retained attorney perry

jr. >> they're victims of crime, plain and simple. trying to enjoy themselves and victims of crime. >> reporter: sources close to the investigation tell me the timeline on charges shifted as prosecutors work to build a case. sources telling me one of the men expected to be charged said he was never at the club at all. so efforts are under way right now to collect more video evidence which will take more time. reporting live, i'm denise nakano, nbc 10 news. tonight, health scares at two local schools. zika virus at lehigh college and more than 100 sick students, some hospitalized for a time. >> live at the campus of collegeville, do we know what made the students sick? >> reporter: yes. it's a stomach virus. some of the students to go to the hospital were dehydrated after vomiting all night long. but school officials believe

that the worst is over with. the collegeville diner is busier than usual tonight and this is comfort food for the college students. >> the dining hall closed and like no food on campus. >> rather safe than sorry. don't want to get sick. >> reporter: the on-campus cafeteria closed as a precaution at 100 students got a stomach virus. crews spent the day sanitizing the busiest areas. >> miserable. misery. >> reporter: wasn't in time for lashonta cox. >> kept going to the bathroom and vomiting. >> reporter: thomas moore was bedridden and eating for the first time in 24 hours. >> i feel it would help more if we tried to take a couple days off and everyone could actually

recuperate. >> reporter: today classes went on as scheduled and students say they were empty. >> we're not sure spread by food or by people and i think that makes people uncomfortable to leave the dorm room. >> reporter: officials believe the end is in sight. for the stomach virus. here's the good news. as of 6:00 tonight, no new cases have been reported and doctors really believe that students should start feeling better by tomorrow morning. but still, the cafeteria not serving breakfast or lunch tomorrow. the local businesses will be bringing food in to serve to students and staff. reporting live in collegeville, nbc 10 news. and the lehigh university student tested positive for the zika virus. school officials say that student became infected traveling abroad over winter break. lehigh tells us the student is okay now and there's no threat to other students. zika virus is spreading rapidly

through latin america and linked to severe birth defects. two female residents were diagnosed with zika. there's a case also in delaware. we have breaking news from out west. the fbi has surrounded the last four people occupying a wildlife refuge in oregon. right now the armed group members are arguing with the negotiator and yelling at officers to back off. people in the building seized the wildlife refuge to protest the government's land policies. other members of their group you may recall were arrested last month and one of them was killed in a clash with police. to our weather here at home now, a cold february night in spring garden. but we actually found someone in shorts here despite the cold temperatures. and yeah. you got to keep moving to keep warm. >> shorts, no. i couldn't do it. let's bring in glenn "hurricane"

schwartz. it will get colder. >> i think she was regretting that decision of the shorts. you can see the flag's blowing pretty hard. still gusting up over 25 miles per hour. and so colder and colder air continues to come in. whatever melted during the day today is refreezing right now and maybe be icy for your morning outside and much colder weather coming over two days and still nothing compared to what's coming for the weekend. dangerous cold. right now, temperatures are in the 20s across much of the area. lancaster's already down to 21 degrees. we have wind on top of that, as well. and in philadelphia, we are down to 25 degrees. 7:00 a.m. look at the wind. 14 miles per hour. that's a windchill in the teens. i'll talk about windchills in the teens below 0 with the rest of the 7-day in a few minutes. to decision 2016 and the fallout from the new hampshire

makes it difficult to go to south carolina. make no mistake, chris christie is a person who will be in the political fold for a number of years to come because of his raw political talent. >> reporter: keith jones, nbc 10 news. we won by a lot. really a lot. >> donald trump bragging about his win in the gop new hampshire primary tonight and boasted about 35% of the vote. the crowd at the campaign event in south carolina this evening. ohio governor john kasich finished second in new hampshire on the republican side and set to make a move that could help him in south carolina and expected the sign a bill to defund planned parenthood in his state. the legislation cleared the ohio state legislation today. fresh off his win in new hampshire, democrat bernie sanders met with civil rights leaders in harlem today. you see sanders walking with the reverend al sharpton after the two discussed issues important to african-americans. sanders' most public effort yet

to court black voters. democrat hillary clinton will score an endorse frmt the congressional black caucus. nbc news confirmed the cbc endorsing clinton tomorrow morning and then sending the lawmakers to south carolina and other states where black votes are vital. pennsylvania lawmakers spoken and kathleen kane keeps her job for now at least. the state senate fell four votes shy of the two thirds majority needed to remove him from office but didn't rule out the possibility of kane's removal. the fbi joined the search for a missing teenage boy. police say john thomas parker walked away from the learning center. here's a surveillance volunteer fo to of yesterday when the 14-year-old last seen leaving the facility and may have gone

to a nearby train station to leave the area. gun fire inside a crowded maryland restaurant ends with two deputies dead tonight. it started at a panera bread just outside baltimore. brian evans shot a responding deputy inside the restaurant and ran. a second deputy caught him and evans killed that officer, as well. authorities then shot and killed evans shortly afterward. both deputies later died at the hospital. tomorrow philadelphia's mayor officially ending a controversial policy designed to save money at the fire department. mayor kinney is getting rid of brown youths that closed certain fire houses to be sent elsewhere. critics say it slowed firefighters to arriving to emergencies. the department suspended that practice on new year's eve. officials are justifying the decision of leaving people stranded for 24 hours in the

this video really caught our eye tonight. a panicked elephant on a rampage in a west indian village today, smashing homes there and didn't attack people. officials say the wild female wandered from a nearby forest and probably looking for food. authorities tranquilized the animal and used a crane to remove it from that town. joe biden is staying busy as his time in office winds down. >> the vp in north carolina continuing his push to fight cancer today. cancer moon shot is a new initiative to cure cancer. he became an advocate for finding a cure for cancer after his son beau died from brain cancer last may. the goal is to find a cure for cancer in five years. no parole for the man that shot and killed senator robert

kennedy. he's spending life in prison. kennedy shot on june 5th, 1968 at the ambassador hotel in los angeles as he celebrated the california primary win. new at 11:00, death threats made against a new jersey teenager arrested for beating an elderly man. >> knock him out! knock him out! oh! >> that attack was filmed in december. and patterson, the teenager is now in police custody after turning himself in yesterday. according to mj.com, the suspect's lawyer has asked that his client placed in solitary confinement for his own safety. new jersey church in a forgiving mood despite being the target of robbers. the leaders say someone stole their black lives matter sign overnight. the sign replaced and the church filed a police report. church says they're more concerned with talking with the

suspect than pressing any charges. >> when somebody just comes in the middle of the night and steals a sign, that's a way they don't want to talk about it. we want to have a conversation. >> the church will hold a public forum to talk about the black lives matter movement coming up february 25th. the nightmare at sea is finally over tonight. this cruise ship docked in new jersey days after sailing into a winter storm and taking a beating from rough seas. >> jackie bedford is with our nbc sister station. i'm sure the passengers really happy to be home. >> reporter: that's the understatement of the year. the ship pulled in to the port here to the cheers of passengers on the balcony tonight. royal caribbean says there were some passengers on board, those who couldn't get the bags off on their own and not disembarking until tomorrow morning and most

part most of the passengers are off tonight and most saying they waited in line to make sure that they were the first to get off the ship. shouts of joy as weary passengers set foot on dry land for the first time in four days. >> basically i could bend down and kiss the ground. >> reporter: the massive anthem of the seas sailed into port at cape liberty around 8:30 wednesday night. >> amazing. amazing. we were first in line to get off like four hours ago. >> reporter: passengers cheering from their balconies, an end to a dream cruise that turned into a nightmare. >> i don't scare easy. that scared me. >> the boys holding on to the beds like this. it was amazing. >> reporter: video shot by passengers showed chairs flying and rooms disappearing under 30-foot waves when the ship headed to the caribbean sailed into the storm sunday. >> everything was blowing open. everything, the closets flying open. glasses were breaking. it was unbelievable.

it was a cruise from hell. >> reporter: elaine and freddy of the bronx have been on 30 cruises saying they've never experienced anything like this. >> we called the coast guard. i'm a diabetic. and i started getting sick. >> reporter: following calls for an investigation into the decision to sail in the storm, royal caribbean admitted today there were gaps in their planning and ntsb investigators were on scene and the coast guard inspected the ship upon arrival. and we asked some of those passengers if they plan to take advantage of the 50% off being offered by royal caribbean for the next cruise and all of them told us they have no plans of getting on a ship any time soon. the anthem of the seas is scheduled the leave here again on saturday. we're in bayonne, nbc 10 news.

you can already start to feel it outside. the cold has begun. and it's already starting to refreeze. what melted during the day today. as temperatures got above freezing. we got dangerous cold coming in for the weekend and windchills averaging as low as 15 below. at the coldest point. over the weekend. right now, we have dry conditions in philadelphia. like clouds. 29 degrees and still a 20-mile-a-hour wind and feeling like 16. this is about as warm as it's going to be any night over the next five days. tomorrow, and friday, highs of only 29 degrees and over the weekend, we are not even getting to 20. plus wind. tonight, in philadelphia, temperature going down. by 7:00 a.m., 20 degrees with wind on top of that. so yeah, plenty cold here and there's even colder air on the way. 11 in chicago.
