so, it's saturday night, late saturday, into early sunday that's the most dangerous part. we're in the low to mid-20s right now. across the area, 14 in mount pocono, the wind chills are somewhat less but as tim was saying it's not especially windy right now. that is just temporary. and these are the latest numbers on what to expect for saturday, 2:00, 15 degrees, wind chill minus 4. by 8:00, 11, wind chill minus 6, 8:00 a.m., 5 degrees, wind chill minus 12. and then maybe even into the plus column by late sunday as the wind diminishes again. that's a pretty brutal weather. and it's going to cover the whole area. ocean city, as low as 8 degrees with a wind chill as low as minus 17. similar story in vineland, 5 degrees. for the low temperature. 2 degrees in philadelphia would
4:18 pm
tie a record. but we rarely see wind on top of super cold nights. 18 below wind chill doesn't happen very often here. downingtown, 19 below wind chill, 22 below in doylestown. and as low as 35 below at mount pocono. with some of those wind chill readings, you get frozen and bursting pipes, you get hypothermia and frostbite as possibilities. and of course don't forget the pets. even if they got fur on, they are not necessarily made for this. now, you might want to keep the water running a little bit through the pipes especially in the garage, so you don't see them bursting over the weekend. the radar shows a little bit of light snow in maryland, generally moving to the east. that is nothing compared to what we're expecting early next week. that's a different story, an actual storm. as we go through the evening, you see these areas of mainly
4:19 pm
light snow coming across, not everybody's going to get it. and like you saw, the temperature doesn't drop as much tonight as it will tomorrow. then the wind really picks up tomorrow morning. so it's going to be way colder at noon than it will be at 6:00 a.m. at least the way it feels. the wind chill will be lower. we showed you that. then look how cold it starts getting saturday afternoon and saturday night we're talking about. single digit temperature, some places going even below zero. now the arctic air is not going to last for a real long time. it is going to ease up. but monday a storm's coming in. it should be cold enough to start as snow, but then change over to rain. some big changes coming in the weather. mostly clear, bitter cold tonight. 13 for the low in philadelphia, 6 north and west. during the night tonight we're going to be seeing the patchy light snow with bitter cold
4:20 pm
winds late tonight, 17 for a low in philadelphia, 12 north and west. but the wind really picking up toward daybreak. and then tomorrow the frigid winds, 20 to 30, gusting as high as 50. and temperatures generally not getting out of the teens. and the seven-day forecast remember, the first alert for saturday and sunday, down to 2 sunday morning, the snow develops, generally late in the morning or in the afternoon monday but definitely changes to rain throughout the area. heavy rain. could be local itzed flooding and you see nothing close to the weekend chill next week. >> much more coverage of the brutal cold still ahead. >> including one potential problem you may not have thought of yet. your valentine's day flowers and the frigid weather. what's being done to make sure your roses aren't ruined. >> plus, booze bandit. a shoplifter you don't want to miss.

4:31 pm
predicting. you've got to cover everything, not be a tough guy. gusts up to 50 miles an hour are possible during the day tomorrow. we have some light snow, patchy light snow moving into parts of the area right now. looks like sussex county, delaware may be the first place to get anything significant. this is just more or less snow flurries that will be moving in. and the futurecast shows us that. there's some of the snow off shore a little bit of light stuff in south jersey, and this is by 11:00. so again, i'm not expecting anything widespread. there is patchy snow in the middle of the night. so some folks could wake up with a little bit of a coating. you're going to wake up with much windier conditions. we'll talk more about those winds and how low they are going to knock those temperatures, and a winter storm in the seven-day forecast too. in a few minutes. >> a lot going on. you can keep tabs on the cold by
