going to be much better than making america whole again. >> a super skirmish. donald trump and hillary clinton win big victories on super tuesday and turn attacks on each other. less than an hour ago trump wrapped up the victory speech. he's won the most republican contests at this point including alabama, arkansas, georgia, massachusetts, tennessee and virginia. senator marco rubio won oklahoma and home state of texas. on the democratic side, hillary clinton picked up six states so far including alabama, arkansas, georgia, tennessee, texas and virginia. while senator bernie sanders won colorado, oklahoma and home state of vermont. so what's all of this mean? lauren megan is here with a breakdown. lauren? >> reporter: the front-runners hillary clinton and donald trump they're even further out in

front tonight. start with republicans and before we hear from donald trump himself, take a look at who is right next to him. new jersey governor chris christie. he introduced trump tonight. he campaigned with him on what turned out to be a very big day. >> this isn't like it's a close match. i mean, it is only too bad that winner didn't take off because then thing this is over. we'll just have a celebration. >> nowhere near the number and also a good night for ted cruz. he had to win the home state of texas and he did and then backed that up with a win in oklahoma. >> but we are the only campaign that's beaten donald trump once, twice, three times. >> marco rubio collected more delegates tonight, came in second a few places including virginia but no wins. that really dampens his momentum

and he is vowing to campaign as long as it takes. now, on the democratic side, hillary clinton had a huge night with big wins. she won states by double digits, 20%, 30% and you can tell from her speech tonight she is looking ahead to a general election. >> trying to divide america between us and them is wrong and we're not going to let it work. >> we took an okay at whether's driving hillary clinton's wins, support of african-americans is strong. look at the gap of clinton and bernie sanders in alabama. bernie sanders did win the home state of vermont tonight as well as oklahoma and colorado. tonight he indicated he isn't going anywhere. >> we are going to take our fight for economic justice, for social justice, for environmental sanity, for a world of peace to every one of

those states. >> now, with tonight's results campaigns not attached to donald trump and hillary clinton are starting not just to claim that they will win but to make specific arguments for how they can do it. sanders even called a press conference about it for tomorrow. >> all right, lauren. here's the current count. hillary clinton ahead with 588 right now. senator sanders has 114. 2,383 delegates are needed to win the democratic nomination. donald trump is leading on the republican side with 197 de delega delegates. followed by ted cruz, marco rubio and john kasich needing 1,237 to win their nomination. you are the first to me about the super tuesday results with the nbc 10 app.

new at 11:00, a call for new jersey governor chris christie to step down. the press posted an editorial on the website this evening accusing the governor of putting personal ambition ahead of the interest of new jersey citizens and calls him out for endorsing donald trump. here's an excerpt reading for the good of the state, it's time for christie to do his long-neglected constituents a favor and resign as governor. if he refuses, the citizens should initiate a recall effort. it also talks about the news conference yesterday refusing to take questions of reporter that is did not deal directly with his judicial nomination. >> no. no, i won't permit you to. only on topic questions today. permission denied. >> nbc 10 reached out for comment on the editorial. we'll bring you his response once we get it. breaking news.

police say two men attacked a 65-year-old man and his wife but the victim turned the tables by pulling a gun and shooting them. nbc's randy gyllenhaal is live at the scene at queen village neighborhood with more on this. randy? >> reporter: this happened a block or two off of busy south street and 2nd. they have an active crime scene. police say that the 65-year-old victim he and his wife taking a walk and confronted by two men ages 20 and 21. big age gap here. now police say for some reason the two younger man began arguing with the victim, a fight broke out and the 65-year-old man beaten while his wife watched. during the fight, the victim pulled out a legal concealed carry 45-caliber pistol and shot two attackers. one in the face. both taken to the hospital. one in serious condition and police say it's unclear what sparked the fight and up to the d.a. to determine if it's a case

of self defense. >> we have two younger males, 20 and 21, beating on a 65-year-old. he has a license to carry. pulled the weapon. this is the zrigs that the district attorney's will make. >> reporter: police say the 21-year-old from new jersey and unthe other is unclear where he's from and both in the hospital. the victim was also hospitalized but police say that his wife was not injured. we're live in queens village, randy gyllenhaal, nbc 10 news. turning to the weather now and the rain on the look. here's first alert radar. the rain arriving while you're sleeping and bring in nbc 10 first alert meteorologist sheena parveen. will it impact the morning commute? >> leaving before 6:00 a.m., yes, impacting the very early hours of the morning commute. otherwise overnight and quickly leaving in the morning. right now we have just some very light rain north and west in the lehigh valley and the bulk of it

off to the west and a cold front and we have some heavier bands in here, as well. this is going to pass through overnight tonight and not worrying about icing with this. well above freezing in the area. still upper 40s and 50s. so here's a look overnight. here's 3:00 in the morning. don't be surprised if you hear thunder. we could see thunderstorms in this. not many but we can't rule it out and then towards 6:00 in the morning and take a look at the rain already trying to leave the area. temperatures will be starting to drop. so as this rain moves out, it gets colder an going to get very windy. aside from that, tracking the snow before the week's over. we'll take a look at this coming up. >> all right. new video in to nbc 10, dash cam video of the moment a group of robbery suspects ran from police. you can see the suspects right there dart away from a suv as it stopped in the eastbound lanes

of the schuylkill expressway. sky force 10 watches as police tried to track them down in montgomery county. one jumped into the river to get away but later caught and started where police say four of the suspects were seen switching the plaets on two vehicles in a wendy's parking lot. today's arrests linked to the lane gang involved a series of break-ins up and down the east coast. tonight, the search continues for a man who stabbed a woman in the kensington neighborhood. there's a brutal crime. the woman on the elevator early saturday morning. the man on after her waited for those doors to close. stabbed her repeatedly demanding money. she survived. he got away. if you recognize this face, call police. west philadelphia, a scary scene outside of a local deli.

this is video of a drive-by shooting and you can' what police say is a white jeep pull up, someone gets out an points a gun at three men standing there on the corner. three men were shot. they're expected to be okay. the suspects took off westbound. anyone that recognizes the vehicle is asked to call police. bradford's back. tonight, the eagles made it official. sam bradford is back under center for the birds. comcast sports net john clark joins us live. a two-year deal and what else do we know about this? >> it's a super tuesday for sam. two-year contract with the eagles $36 million. so it's a short-term deal good for both the birds and sam and bradford's teammates, they wanted him back. >> he has to be the guy. >> reporter: jordan matthews said it after the last game. sam bradford has to be the guy.

we caught up with eagles fans to' if they agree. >> i think it's a solid move. >> new blood would make the eagles better. >> sam over the last seven games, he completed 68% of the passes, for an average of 280 yards a game with 10 touchdowns and only 4 interceptions. he became more comfortable with a new system and footwork got better as the season went on. >> i still enjoy the guys on the team. you know? i enjoy the city. enjoyed my time here. >> sam became more comfortable as a leader. malcolm jenkins said sam took the pregame prep talks from the offense in the shower to the whole locker room. >> when he came back, he decided to take the team, you know, by the horns basically and he really started to be a lot more vocal, he started to break down the huddles, speak to the team before every game and when he did that, he gained the trust of the teammates and playing

we are following breaking super tuesday news. within the last few minutes, hillary clinton won another state primary. massachusetts. but it was a close race against senator bernie sanders. she's won a total of seven states so far tonight. portrait of a hero. today philadelphia police released this painting of sergeant robert wilson iii nearly a year after his murder. wilson died while trying to protect people in a game stop. he died in a fire fight of two men trying to rob that store. vandalism in new jersey playground sparked a hate crime investigation. nbc 10 on the scene with police in ocean county. that's where someone carved the words burn the jews on a piece of playground equipment. this as tensions continue to

without the tackling. an entire college conference is banning its players from tackling in practice. as nbc 10's denise nakano reports, it's a move designed to make the sport safer. >> reporter: vi ivy league coaches made a move. they're tackling concerns of brain injuries putting a ban on tackling in practice. >> we have one in each room. >> reporter: the director of concussion center where he sees more than ten athletes a day suffering from concussions calling the move to eliminate full contact hitting in practices the right one. >> cutting down in hitting, during practices, in the season, you're essentially decreasing your exposure. >> reporter: when a player is tackled and suffers a concussion, imagine the brain like this tennis ball and rocked

clear. so, yeah. this morning we had a beautiful sun rise. sunset, more clouds around. tomorrow, we'll be looking at big changes but that's really after tonight's rain and the clouds later today you may have noticed because of the rain moving in overnight tonight and then starts to get windy going into tomorrow. 20 degree temperatures in the forecast and the next few mornings colder and feels more like winter and believe it or not before the week is over we have another chance of snow moving in. now i hope you enjoyed today and yesterday in the mid-60s. tomorrow the high temperature will be dropping to around 40 degrees. temperatures dropping throughout the day tomorrow. and then we go into thursday. 40. average high 48. we are going from way above normal to below normal. right now the rain here appro h approaching the area. locally light showers across the lehigh valley and that area off to the west moving through while

you're sleeping but don't surprised to hear thunder. we could see a few lightning strikes in this overnight tonight and not a severe threat and some of this is locally heavy and will be through the area pretty quick and most of you will be seeing drying conditions in the morning commute. temperatures well above freezing. very important to note as the rain approaches. we are going to stay above freezing, too. not worrying about icing overnight hours tonight. here's the temperatures staying in the 50s believe it or not. 3:00 in the morning, there is a chance we could see a line of heavy rain. again, can't rule out the rumble of thunder. could be around through the overnight hours and this is quick. by 6:00 in the morning, already along the shore. temperatures here still above freezing. moves through for the morning commute and a lot of us drying out for a morning commute and by 9:00, lo look at this. temperatures into 30s for some spots and then by 4:00 p.m.,

around 40 degrees and then windy and very different day than today. 7:00 thursday morning, now, look at this, in the 20s. and then we go into thursday night, there's the next chance of snow moving in. midnight, temperatures at or below freezing. 7:00 a.m. friday. so this is our next system. it's fairly quick. it's fairly small. but it is a clipper system and there's a chance to see a couple of inches of snow out of that. of course manufacture detaore d. rain is moving in. can't rule out a thunderstorms. temperatures mid to upper 40s. by early tomorrow, we keep on dropping. it will get colder through the day. 40 degrees. thursday same thing and then the snow moving in early friday. we could looks fairly decent and then we warm back into the 60s next week. john? we'll have more on sam bradford re-signing with the eagles. villanova going for a big east title. did the phillies bat goes damage? that is next.
