deanna durante, "nbc 10 news." tonight the pennsylvania convention center is filling up with every flower you can think of ahead of the flower show. today students showed us their exhibit which features plants grown in a system without soil. we'll get a peek at the flower show tomorrow before it opens to the public on saturday. well, you saw the clouds increase this afternoon and that's ahead of our next weather system which will be bringing us snow. overnight and early tomorrow. now it's going to be a little hard to accumulate across the area, but we do expect it to be falling for the morning commute for some of you. so, a messy morning commute tomorrow, mostly new jersey and delaware. now, aside from this week where it has felt more like winter next week we're looking at the 70s so we have something nice and warm to look ahead to. that's going to be by the middle of next week.
6:18 pm
i'll show you that in the seven-day in a minute. right now in philadelphia 38 degrees, mostly cloudy skies, we are still above freezing. here's what's going to happen overnight. temperatures will be dropping to right around freezing. and starting through the overnight hours we'll be seeing the snow falling and by tomorrow morning it will be here for the morning commute for part of the area, but it's going to be the wet type of snow, that slushy snow. so still could be slippery on the roadways. right now we are dry, we have snow trying to form down to our south and off to our west. but the bulk of the moisture, what we're really watching, that's mostly off to the west still. so that will be moving in starting late tonight and areas south of philadelphia will start to see that snow first. so this is future weather and when i talk about the marginal temperatures that's right around freezing, not supportive of that accumulating snow when it's on the wet side. so that wet snow falling by 10:00 p.m. for south jersey and delaware, temperatures may be a couple degrees above freezing. then around freezing for the rest of the area overnight
6:19 pm
tonight. kind of scattered overnight. then by 8:00 tomorrow morning as the system starts to move away, we'll be seeing more snow right along new jersey and delaware. that's where some of it could be even a little bit on the moderate side. now, temperatures at that time could still be a couple degrees above freezing and with the sun angle now and the wet snow, it's going to be hard to accumulate on paved surfaces. 10:00 a.m. temperatures in the mid 30s, and that snow still trying to fall but struggling to accumulate. then we clear out friday afternoon. and we'll be setting up for a drier weekend. so as far as the roads are concerned tomorrow, we have marginal temperatures, lighter snow melting, the heavier snow could be sticking. we don't expect much heavy snow but anything more moderate a better chance to stick. it will be slushy so slippery on the roads, the a.m. commute an issue with the snow falling so school delays possible in new jersey and delaware, mainly. the rest of the area may be just seeing light snow showers for the morning. we'll be watching any area of
6:20 pm
heavier wet snow because that will be lowering visibility too which will be an issue with the driving for the morning commute. as far as the snow fall is concerned, we don't expect much. less than an inch through the lehigh valley. maybe 1 to 2 in new jersey and delaware and that could include parts of chester and lancaster counties. as far as a major storm is concerned, nowhere close to that. a nuisance for the morning commute. tonight light snow moving in. slick, 31 for the low, 25 north and west. tomorrow we'll be clearing out through the afternoon highs around 40. through the weekend we're going to be in the mid-40s, by sunday morning there is a chance we could see a few light showers, otherwise look at the warm-up next week action 72 by wednesday. hi, coming up, would sam bradford have preferred a longer contract? probably. but what does he think of his new coach? all that next.
