no growth-promoting antibiotics, just honest, simple turkey. . >> announcer: nbc 10 news starts now. right now at 11, a super split on super saturday. four presidential candidates are celebrating wins in different states tonight, including two upset victories by ted cruz over donald trump. but first, we're watching a system that may bring some snow into the region over the next few hours. here is a live look at that wet weather right on the first alert radar. good evening, i'm rosemary connors. just as we were beginning to think spring, mother nature is reminding us we're not there yet. nbc 10 first alert meteorologist violet ta is timing the rain and snow. we're really looking at light showers here. >> that's right. it won't be a high impact event for us. not a lot on radar.

we have snow showers here drifting across pittsburgh, much of it south of i-80. we have a snow shower sneaking into carbon county, back into the lehigh valley. for the most part, we're talking very light snow at best. we could be looking at perhaps a dusting mostly on grass surfaces. for whatever makes into the area, i think a lot of it will actually fall apart before it does reach the area. 36 right now in philadelphia, 26 in millville. again, still above normal here toward the city, 26 in millville, 32 in atlantic city about 31 degrees pottstown a and a little colder expect north and west, 29 in allentown, 22 toward the poconos. again on the lookout for some isolated rain or snow showers mostly over the next couple of hours. again, it's not going to be be anything widespread or anything particularly heavy. that will be on the move so by tomorrow morning, we'll see gradual clearing. still around 45 by 8:00 a.m., noon 43 with increasing sunshine as we head toward 4:00, 49 degrees.

once we get the system move in, the skies will clear quickly and the temperature will jump up. we're finally looking at an above-normal temperature day, but that's not it. again, the warmer temperatures are in the forecast for the next couple of days. we're looking at the potential for 60 and 70 degree temperatures in my extended outlook. >> like the sound of that. thanks pfr. >> back to decision 2016. as i mentioned, four presidential candidates are celebrating wins on this super saturday. let's begin with the republicans. here is a live look at donald trump speaking to a crowd of supporters in west palm beach, florida, within the last few minutes nbc has declared trump the winner of the kentucky caucuses. he also won louisiana earlier tonight. ted cruz also pulled off two wins this evening in kansas and in maine. political analysts are calling these upset wins over trump. for the democrats, bernie sanders is the winner in two races tonight, nebraska and kansas. hillary clinton had a single victory in louisiana. for a full recap of the super saturday action and reaction from the candidates, we get more

now from nbc 10 national correspondent chris pallone. >> reporter: on super saturday, texas senator ted cruz visited the winner's circle first picking up at least 17 delegates winning the kansas caucus and 12 more by winning maine. >> i think the combination of super tuesday election results, the last two debates, together has been more and more unifying republicans behind our campaign, and that is a very, very encouraging sign. >> reporter: cruz picking up a symbolic win, too, at the straw poll at cpac, the annual gathering of conservatives in washington. florida senator marco rubio got a warm welcome at cpac and used his appearance to slam front-runner donald trump. >> being a conviservative is no about how angry you're willing to be or names you call people. >> reporter: cpac is a key stop pour republicans hoping to win the nomination but trump plays by his own rules.

he skipped the conference to rally in florida. >> if we win florida, it's over. >> reporter: democrat bernie sanders was hoping to pick up some momentum on super saturday entering the day with half the delegates of hillary clinton. he won the kansas and nebraska caucuses but clinton had a resounding win in louisiana, already has her sights set on michigan. >> we have to win this election, and we all know the stakes keep getting higher and the rhetoric we're hearing from the other side keeps sinking lower. >> reporter: sunday more delegates on the line, republicans have a primary in puerto rico and democrats caucus in maine with contests in hawaii, idaho, mississippi and michigan following on tuesday. chris pallone, nbc news, new york. >> today in delaware, members of the black lives matter movement had plenty to say about donald trump. this after protesters with the movement were kicked out of a trump rally in new orleans

yesterday. >> trump is a racist. he don't really care about black lives. he has two sisters out there campaigning with him who are really making a mockery of the black lives matter movement. >> activist mckee booker made those comments today during a rally in wilmington that called for an end to delaware's death penalty. civil rights activists joined family members of death row inmaists at the wilmington public library this morning. the last execution in delaware was in 2012. tonight a man is facing criminal charges after investigators say shots were fired at an unmarked police car with an under cover officer inside. it happened in the city's frankfurt neighborhood. malik smith is facing aggravated assault and simple assault charges. authorities say an officer was driving on hedge street around 7:00 last night when someone or some people began shooting at his unmarked police sedan. he says he saw people run down. he managed to chase down and

arrest smith. tonight philadelphia police are remembering a brother in blue. sergeant robert wilson iii was killed one year ago today trying to protect customers during a robbery in progress. today his colleagues an loved ones are making sure that his legacy is never forgotten amid a rave of recent violence against police officers. nbc 10 reporter randy gyllenhaal joins us live from the 22nd district where sergeant wilson worked in north philadelphia. randy? >> reporter: sergeant wilson was based here in the 22nd district. he left headquarters a year ago today to go on patrol, and he never came back. in quiet formation, officers line up and give salute, marking one painful year since one of their own was shot and killed. >> there's no greater love than a man has than to lay down his life for others. >> reporter: the crowd released dozens of balloons for officer

robert wilson iii. the 22nd district cop was killed in a shootout inside a game stop store. he was protecting customers and today his sister called him a hero. >> he chose to make that decision to become an officer, to protect. lives are precious and these people decide to take lives is beyond. >> reporter: in the year since, violence against police has not slowed down. so far this year, 12 officers have been shot and killed. in maryland last month, two deputies were murdered just last week a rookie cop in virginia was killed on her first day. here in philly, two close calls already in 2016. in january, an officer was ambushed in west philly and just last night an undercover officer was shot at inside his car. >> i do worry about it. >> reporter: damian stevenson worked with officer wilson. he hopes the public remembers that beat cops are just everyday

people with a very difficult job. >> they don't know what it is to be an officer, to get in a shootout, to get chased, to lose someone. >> be safe. we love you. we care about you. we want you to be successful and to come home after every tour. >> reporter: sergeant wilson's accused killers are two brothers, both have been arrested but neither has yet gone to trial. live in north philly, randy gyllenhaal, nbc 10 news. new at 11, police are looking for a man and a woman who robbed a homeowner at gun point in south philadelphia. investigators say the victim met the couple online, but after the pair showed up at the house on juniper street, they pulled out a gun and took $4,000 from the victim. police say the couple sped off in a black sedan. next, a montgomery county family opens up about the loss of their son who died trying to rescue his father in a fire. why they're still searching for answers after the disaster that happened one month ago today.

tonight in montgomery county, a vigil was held for 12-year-old sanford harlg in morristown at the site of his family's burned down home. the boy ran back into the house to save his father who he thought was trapped in the flames. he didn't realize his father had jumped out of the window. today harling's mother talked about the fire that claimed the life of her son. she doesn't know who caused the fire and doesn't even have a death certificate. >> i saw the boy every day. i don't see his face. like i used to see his face.

we are following breaking news in west philadelphia. police are on the scene of a deadly shooting at 52nd and arch streets. here is a live look as the investigation unfolds. you can see police cruisers there. they've blocked off some of the sidewalks and possibly some of the lanes there. we're told the victim died at the hospital at penn presbyterian, rushed there after he was shot just after 10:00 p.m. so far, police have not made any arrests in this case. we will continue to follow it and keep you posted. park rangers and police say they had to separate quite a few protesters at a confederate flag rally at gettysburg national military park today. demonstrators supporting the confederate flag clashed with protesters rallying against the flag. the two sides began to argue so

officers separated them before things turned physical. new at 11, basketball fans will be gearing up for march madness a little later on this month. but tonight teenagers in montgomery county decided to get in on the action early and host a march madness tournament for a good cause. teenagers and their fathers competed to raise money for several causes including the lupus foundation of america. they say it's a true learning experience awful the way around. >> they come with all type of problems. it's not just about teaching them math or reading or science or whatever. it's about teaching them about life. >> we're promoting wellness, healthiness as well as sports. >> the montgomery county chapter of jack and jill of america sponsored tonight's event. now let's talk about our weather. pretty chilly outside, cold and clear in conshohocken where people were out and about.

we've been tracking the chance for light rain and possible snow. violetas yas joins us now. the system is just barely going to touch us, right? >> right. it will be just close enough to potentially allow for a rain or snow shower to make it into the area. we'll be watch forge that over the next couple hours. not a big deal heading into sunday. the system quickly moves offshore, that will allow for increasing sunshine for the course of the day. sunday not looking bad. it won't be as cold either the warmer temperatures, potentially 60s and 70s, next week. currently across philadelphia, 36 degrees, cloudy southwest wind at about 5 miles per hour. our temperature actually exactly where it was at this time last night. mid-30s in the city, 34 in lancaster, 35 toward redding, upper 20s toward allentown, 22 degrees toward the poconos, heading southbound about 33 in georgetown and just below freezing there in wildwood, 32 degrees toward atlantic city.

again, most of the area still on the dry side. we do have one snow shower that has drifted into carbon county. that now starting to move south and eastward toward allentown. it's very light, i wouldn't be surprised if it isn't quite hit gt ground. we have additional snow showers to the west. we'll see how many of these actually make it into the area. again, i think for the most part we'll stay dry for tonight. the models doing a great job of picking up on this either. sunday 6:00 a.m. can't rule out a rain or snow shower early, temperatures around the freezing mark. again, once this drifts away, temperatures will come up pretty quickly. we're talking mid-40s by 2:00 with increasing sunshine. a little cold to start on sunday, but that quickly changes and the pattern overall is going to change. we're talking 70s perhaps for tuesday and wednesday so we'll see the gradual warming beginning on monday. but tomorrow we'll really just brings temperatures to around normal after a cold couple of da days. the big warm-up monday, tuesday
