road. the republican becomes the biggest casualty of tonight's big primaries. >> but we begin with a nbc 10 exclusive. attacked with a baseball bat. this video shows a desperate man trying to get away in philadelphia. and tonight, he's sharing his story only on nbc 1 news. >> lauren mayk is live in fish town. what started the whole attack? >> reporter: the pastor here tells me it was a case of mistaken identity. that the suspect apparently were looking for someone after an incident at a bar. came here thinking that they were here and tells me not the case but by then they took aim at this building. they lit something on fire and they attacked two men. i spoke with one of the victims today. the man with the baseball bat comes after him down the block. >> i think about it over and over and see the video and like i relive that moment a couple times. >> reporter: nbc 10 talked to

the victim we're calling matt. a resident here at the rescue mission. who became a target. >> did you think he was going to come after you? >> yeah. it was just shocking. you know? i mean, i -- i heard the door shattering and then i'd seen him and, you know, got me a little shaken up. >> reporter: the attack left smashed glass. >> the door is gone. >> reporter: the pastor tells me it is where men come from a helping hand. >> we do a holistic approach on the treatments. we have a faith-based, mental health. we do substance abuse treatment. >> reporter: listening to what matt told me about those scary moments, maybe it made a difference already. >> i've been in violent situations before a long time ago in my life and it is like, you know, it's never good to answer anger with anger. >> reporter: he tells me he's trying to live differently and have faith. how do you feel listening to that? >> i believe that -- i thank god

that we do that here. >> reporter: gratefulness is not what we thought we'd find seeing this video. >> sometimes it just takes one person to change and changes everything. i'm proud of that. i'm just blessed. >> reporter: police are now looking for your help in identifying the men responsible and the next task for this mission here is to fix that glass to get things back to normal. live in fitchtown, i'm lauren mayk, nbc 10 news. back to decision 2016 now. marco rubio's quest for the white house began in florida. it's also where it ended tonight. >> the senator suspended his campaign after losing his home state to donald trump. trump picked up a total of three states tonight and in addition to florida, he won north carolina and illinois. but he was denied a decisive victory in ohio by that state's governor john kasich. we are still waiting for the results from the missouri primary. >> on the democratic side,

hillary clinton moving closer to securing the democratic nomination. she picks up three wins in ohio, florida and north carolina tonight. the results for missouri and illinois are still not in. >> now take a look where the race for delegates stands tonight. on the democratic side, hillary clinton has 1,374 delegates, more than double bernie sanders's haul of 666. democrats need 283 to win the nomination. donald trump leads with 595 and followed by ted cruz with 376. and john kasich rounds it out with 129. republicans need a total of 1,237 delegates to win. tomorrow governor kasich heads to our area turning attention to pennsylvania. governor kasich will take part in a town hall at villanova university's connolly center. it begins at noon. look for our reports starting at 4:00.

pennsylvania's primary is april 26th. voters in delaware cast their votes that day. if you have the nbc 10 app, you have been getting news alerts as the primary results came in. make sure you download it today to make sure you stay in the loop. new at 11:00, here at home, a philadelphia high school student dead tonight from bacterialmeningitis. the teen died this morning. this is the first meningitis death in philadelphia this year. meningitis symptoms of fever, headache and a stiff neck and patients can also have nausea and vomiting, as well. may be confused and sensitive to light. experts say it is usually not deadly. so if you are fully vaccinated, you are protected f. you're a healthy individual, you're protected. again, most often those people compromised, something wrong with their immune system.

>> carver high school opens at the normal time tomorrow. there will be a meeting for parents at 6:00 tomorrow evening. four people including two children are in the hospital tonight after a hazmat situation in south jersey. sky force 10 over the scene here on route 130 and burlington and an apartment complex was evacuated around 8:00 tonight. it all stemmed from prolonged exposure to aerosol and bug bomb spray. residents are back in the building now. tonight, drying out and nbc 10 near the art museum and leaving the umbrella at home to walk your dog. tonight, though, tracking the return of sunshine and also the potential for snow. >> here's chief meteorologist glenn "hurricane" swartz. say it ain't snow. >> yeah, we can and have gotten snow even well into spring around here. late march, even into april. we've even seen flakes in the month of may.

shouldn't be turned away. unprecedented action in the nation's capital. washington is shutting down its entire subway system for emergency inspections. the closures starts at midnight and lasts at least 29 hours. officials announced the closure after an electrical fire caused delays monday morning saying the same component malfunctioned last year filling a tunnel with smoke. one rider died. dozens of others were injured. came over and jabbed me on my arm and said, going to beat you up on the bus. >> bullied on the bus. a young boy tormented every day. the video that has school leaders taking action. history versus progress. why a home that survived the revolutionary war is now fighting a new battle. plus, a fiery political debate leads to arson. local trump supporter who says he's been victimized twice.

nomination and winning this election in november! >> reporter: the same for trump but his losing ohio gives anti-trump forces hope. i'm steve handelsman, nbc 10 news. trump related tensions appear to have sparked a fiery act of vandalism in atlantic county. someone set fire to a trump supporter's bill board over the weekend in egg harbor township, just hours after a trump rally in chicago was canceled because of safety concerns. jay henry says he knew the big trump bill board could be a target but didn't expect it to be set on fire. >> maybe tomatoes, a paintball. this is actually very bad. >> the sign also vandalized a couple of weeks and then repainted. no one has been arrested. new jersey governor chris christie defending his decision to skip a funeral for state trooper cullens.

he talked about that today. >> i don't know why there's renewed criticism now. we made the determinations to have me or the second highest ranking state official at an event when it's a police officer or a member of the state police passes away. the loss of trooper cullens' life is tragic. >> newspapers blasted christie for missing the funeral. the governor says he and the lieutenant governor decided last week that she would attend the funeral. that was before he was invited to campaign with trump. a student is expelled from school tonight after being caught on cell phone video bullying another student on the school bus. it happened in the chester upland school district. the video posted on facebook by the parents of the child who was bullied. tonight, that mom is speaking and so is her son. >> my mom crying a lot. and i got to cry myself to sleep

almost every night. >> reporter: this 10-year-old describes the tough time having after being bullied over and over again, the latest on cell phone video when he was beaten up on the school bus. little boy says he was afraid to fight back fearful that the other eight to ten bullies of tn bus attack him, too, and no way to fight them all off. a police officer once told him what to do when bullied. >> she said be nobody's punching bag. stand up. you can choose two different ways to do it. tell someone or fight back. >> reporter: he said he always chooses to tell someone. the pictures show the most recent scratches and bruises to his face. >> sometimes i bring my phone to school and they -- and in my book bag and throw it around. >> reporter: his mom said she is trying to get him out of that school for a while now. >> it hurts me to my bones to

see another child hurt another child so bad like that. he was really afraid and he would beg and plead me not to go up to the school because he said once the kids know that there will be consequences. >> i just want them to stop and hope they learn that bullying is not cool for anybody's standards. >> reporter: the school tonight says it will not tolerate bullying. in addition to the student being expelled for that bullying, the superintendent says the victim will now be transferred to another school. lee's hoge gi house with three-day fund-raiser. all to raise money for 7-year-old alison turner, badly hurt and nearly drowned after slipping in her bathtub in december. alison's been in the hospital ever since so the hoagie shop donating some of the profits over the next couple of days to pay for alison's medical bills.

we have seen over the last couple of days and we finally have done that. and that's setting us up for a wednesday warm-up. showers, though, each day for the rest of the week. it's not going to rain every day, all day. but you're going to need the umbrella each day probably an you may need more on sunday when we have actual chance of getting some snow. we have mostly clear skies finally. 46 degrees, the wind is calm. and it's a same temperature it was yesterday at this time. we are in the mid-40s to upper 40s across the area which is kind of mild for this time of the night at this time of the year. the average high is 52 degrees. and with any kind of sunshine, we go way past that during the day tomorrow. we have 53 degrees today. that's despite the clouds. 64 tomorrow. and then 62 thursday and then that temperature starts going down, down, down as we head into the weekend. the rain and the clouds that we

saw today spun right out of here and the skies have cleared so we start the day off tomorrow with a fair amount of sunshine but there's moisture building up to the west pretty quickly and that will be increasing the clouds during the day and here comes some showers by tomorrow afternoon. generally late in the afternoon, not raining all day. certainly. and then that goes past. and then we clear out. but then there's another system that comes in. for thursday. generally an afternoon. few showers. and then we clear out. and then another system comes in on friday. few showers. mainly in the afternoon. and then we clear out. saturday we may actually be clear but on sunday there may be an actual storm, a nor'easter developing. and this is the european model. the world's most accurate. once again, and it is showing not only that nor'easter but getting cold enough for any rain to change to snow by later sunday and sunday night.
